Solve : Windows 8.1 won't boot.?

Answer»

I really need your help with this one guys and gals. I'm was asked to take a look at my sister's granddaughter's computer. It's an Acer notebook Aspire E1-510-2611. It was very slow so I ran some scans which turned up over 500 items mostly pups. Since then it will only boot to a blue screen. Previous to that I tried the Recovery but was told the the Recovery would not START. See Here 1st...Thanks but it won't even boot to that. I need some kind of repair that will run of a memory stick.Borrow another computer that has Windows 8.1 and create a boot USB recovery thing.
If you can get into the BIOS of the sick PC, set it for USB boot. Try the recovery USB thing you made from the other PC.
Dave - What is the entire blue screen error message? Is there a way to get the recovery media from the manufacturer to start fresh and boot off of a USB device they send you? One of my friends had a HP netbook HDD crash and didnt make a recovery media for it. He paid a small fee to HP for them to ship him a thumb drive with the recovery media on it for the netbook.Try the technique posted at http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f108/laptop-recovery-instructions-162525.html.

Edit: I just noticed that discussion dates back to 2007, so it might not pertain to newer models. As DaveLembke MENTIONED, I would contact Acer. You can probably order a recovery media from them for a small fee. See Here 2nd...

This is for a Repair Install...different than the Startup Repair in my 1st link.I created a USB installation media from this site but it won't boot even thought I changed the boot order. Allan, I don't get any error messages. It boots to the ACER LOGO and then a blue screen. My sister purchased this computer last year for her granddaughter's graduation but the problem is that part of the MS label is torn off and I don't know the product key. I downloaded a ProduKey retriever from NirSoft but I'm not sure if it will work on Windows 8.1. Is there any others I can use? I followed the advice in the link that Soybean provided and was able to do a refresh. My son has the same problem with his computer. He has an Asus with basically the same specs. He still has the recover partition and we also tried a USB but neither works. The computer seems to recognize the issue and tries to go into recovery but then fails. I let it sit all night but it still did not work.

He says he installed Happy Wars from the internet and played if for a while and then shut down the computer using the on-screen shut down. He said he may have installed AdFly when the game installed. And the point is ? ? ?the point is to get help resolving the issue!I repaired my laptop with the link that Soybean provided. It may work for you. Thanks for the reply but that didn't work. I tried that as well as the Asus key (f9) and can not get it to work. Now the computer just cycles through the SCREENS I attached. I cannot get a USB recovery to work but if I put a Linux USB in it will start up. ANYONE know if I can do anything from there?

[attachment deleted by admin to conserve space] Quote

I cannot get a USB recovery to work
Pleas tell exactly how did you make the USB recovery?

This link is about a USB drive for a full install.
Create installation media for Windows 8.1

Did you try that?
