Solve : Windows will not start?

Answer»

Hi, this is my first post and I really need some help. I just recieved my new acer as6920g yesterday and everything was fine until this morning, so here is the problem: when I start it everything is fine until the point where you normally write your password, but insted of getting the normal page the screen goes black and there is NOTHING I can do. I have tried pressing the F2 key and go through the diffrent options in there but nothing is working.

here are the specs:

acer as6920g
windows vista home premium
intel core 2 duo processor T5750 (2.0 GHz, 667 MHz FSB, 2MB L2 CACHE)
4GB DDR2 RAM
250GB HDD

Any help would be much appreciated. On a day old laptop?
What did you do the day before? (new hardware/software/downloads/installs/ect...)

If it is brand new, it should be well under warranty. Take it back to the store (with the receipt if you have it) and show them the problem.
They will most likely fix it for free or GIVE you a new one.Yep I know

I havent done anything special other than getting the latest updates for it. I currently live on a small island, so returning it is easier said than done but that is most likely what I will do if I can't get it up and running again.Hmmm....all right.

When the screen goes blank, what else happens? Anything stop running? Any sounds?

When you hold a light at the blank screen and/or look at different angles, can you see anything? No sounds or anything, but the screen shortly shuts off for half a sec. and then turns on again, I don't know if that means anything to you.Wait, does the screen still stay off, or is it blinking now?No its not blinking, it just turns off and then back on onceOh wait, I think I know what you mean now.

So you turn on the computer and once you see the login screen, it turns off and then turns on, right?I NEVER actually see the log on screen, its just black, I can see the marker though. sorry if my english has confused you No worries, I think it's just me. Getting a bit tired.

So. Exactly what happens? Explain it in this format:

You turn the computer on, it starts up, the loading bar goes across the screen and then.....okay here I go

I turn it on, then i get the message that windows hasent been closed correctly and I get to choose between opening windows normally or in the fail safe mode - both give the same result - I then choose either one, the load bar goes over the screen, then the screen shortly turns off and on again and then I see the marker on a black screen, and that's the end of the line for me Ah ok. That is very strange.......and all with a brand new laptop?

You don't happen to have the Vista DVD, do you?No, sadly I didn't get one with the laptopWell, UNLESS any other forum member has any suggestions, I think your best bet would be go back to the store seeing as that is an option.

Wait a sec, Google found this:
http://forums.cnet.com/5208-12546_102-0.html?forumID=133&threadID=262632&messageID=2575514

I haven't read it through yet but the title caught my eye.
