Solve : WinXP or Win2K? |
Answer»

Hey,

I have this debate with my friends with my friends, I would like your opinions. Which one is better, Win2k or WinXp, WAT is your thought?

Richard.Akfaka:

My guess is your friends are comparing WINDOWS 2000 Professional to Windows XP HOME. Windows 2000 is much better than Windows XP Home Edition, but pales in comparison to Windows XP Professional.

Windows XP Professional has all of the utilities of Windows 2000, plus many of the best features of Windows Me (it's like a combination of the best of both operating systems).

Windows XP Professional has several useful features that Windows 2000 Professional does not:
* A built-in firewall
* The System Configuration Utility
* System Restore
* Several additional command line commands like SHUTDOWN

Have fun with the debate!
DocLinux.

Of those 2 I would go with Windows 2000. Stable, with none of the fluff.

Maybe you could do a search on this TOPIC in the forum, because it's been discussed, oh, maybe a million times!

To tell you the truth, personally, I like the Win2K so much better. The built-in firewall on WinXp is nothing but a nuisance.

Richard.W2k Rules!
Is this a trick question?Quote

...I like the Win2K so much better. ...

What feature does Windows 2000 have that you like better?

Quote
W2k Rules!
Is this a trick question?

FED:

Yeah, i agree it is better than Windows Me (what a failure!) and arguably better than Windows 98 SE.

Doc
Quote
What feature does Windows 2000 have that you like better?

No registration or validation hoops to jump through.Quote

What feature does Windows 2000 have that you like better?

Well, just in general, seems to me Win2K is more consistent with the previous Windons OS, if you know Win98, you can easily navigate through the setups.

But WinXP changed that all, it's confussing.

RichardMinimum requirements from Microsoft.

W2k 133 Mhz CPU, 32 MB RAM.
XP 233Mhz CPU, 64 MB RAM.
