Solve : Xbox 360 Contoller for Windows 8 problem?

Answer» <html><body><p>OK so on one of my new PC's I have Windows 8 and I'm struggling with getting an Xbox controller <a href="https://interviewquestions.tuteehub.com/tag/working-243555" style="font-weight:bold;" target="_blank" title="Click to know more about WORKING">WORKING</a>. <br/><br/>I will take you through the steps already tried.<br/><br/>I have tried the controller on my Windows 7 <a href="https://interviewquestions.tuteehub.com/tag/laptop-1066410" style="font-weight:bold;" target="_blank" title="Click to know more about LAPTOP">LAPTOP</a> and it plug and plays absolutely fine. <br/><br/>I have tried Microsoft's <a href="https://interviewquestions.tuteehub.com/tag/direct-954477" style="font-weight:bold;" target="_blank" title="Click to know more about DIRECT">DIRECT</a> driver download but the installation always fails with a 'invalid data' warning. This is whilst installing under Windows 7 64bit and in compatibility mode.<br/><br/>I have tried to <a href="https://interviewquestions.tuteehub.com/tag/update-718077" style="font-weight:bold;" target="_blank" title="Click to know more about UPDATE">UPDATE</a> through Windows update and it always <a href="https://interviewquestions.tuteehub.com/tag/returns-1187977" style="font-weight:bold;" target="_blank" title="Click to know more about RETURNS">RETURNS</a> 'Fail' to install.<br/><br/>I have copied the driver from my Windows 7 machine to my Windows 8 pointed to it and it still does not work.<br/><br/>When the controller is plugged in it shows up in device manager as 'controller' but with a yellow warning. I tried updating the driver from there and it fails. I tried searching online and searching my own computer for the driver but each install attempt results in 'invalid data'. <br/><br/>Running out of options hopefully someone can help. <br/><br/>Thanks in advance. <br/><br/><br/>Make sure you are using a powered USB Port. That's all I can think of; Windows 8 apparently includes XBox 360 Controller drivers Out-Of-The-Box as far as I can tell.<br/><br/>What is the error code/message in device manager for the Controller?<a href="https://www.techspot.com/drivers/driver/file/information/11300/"><strong>Worth a Shot...</strong></a></p></body></html>
