I had my computer built from scratch

Gloops, I suggest you read this carefully. It may help you in the future, and after reading it, it seems to me, you will have much more KNOWLEDGE than you do at the present time.

Google is a search engine. That is a type of web site that lets you search for information about lots and lots of subjects. In fact, just about anything you can THINK of! Especially if it's to do with computers. What you do is this:

1. Type "http://www.google.com" into the address bar at the top of your web browser (the program that you are using to read this)
2. When the site comes up, you will see the word Google and below that an oblong white BOX.
3. Click in that box and type something that you would like to find out about. "Windows recovery console" is an example.
4. Now click the button marked Google Search.
5. Now a page or maybe more than one page of links will come up.
6. Click on some of them and you will probably find what you need to know.

Not doing this, that is, asking questions such as...

Quote
Where on earth is the 'Recovery Console' mate?

...is considered lazy and bad forum manners and will lead to sarcasm and worse being directed at you. "Where on earth" implies that you have been told about something outlandish and obscure which you could not possibly be EXPECTED to know about, and is an implied rebuke. This makes the bad manners worse. That is why you were asked sarcastically if your computer didn't come with Google.

I hope this is clear now.

http://www.google.com/search?hl=&q=What+is+the+recovery+console%3F&sourceid=navclient-ff&rlz=1B3MOZA_en-GBUS386US388&ie=UTF-8Thanks guys, but I do already know about the search engine, I use it all the time. Just thought this point went without being said, is all!

Didn't know that the 'Recovery Consul' was just another name for the 'Command Prompt' (or the old DOS, for us that were in at the very beginning. )

So now I know. (I love this learning curve.)

As far as being a target for sarcasm, I just ignore these guys. Generaly speaking, they have a very low I.Q. I have lived a long time and seen them come and go. Sarcasm IS and always will be the very LOWEST form of wit!

I haven't missed that you guys are trying to be helpful here and I greatly appreciate that. Many sincere thanks for your FEED back here lads

Quote from: GLOOPS on August 01, 2010, 11:44:58 AM
Didn't know that the 'Recovery Consul' was just another name for the 'Command Prompt' (or the old DOS, for us that were in at the very beginning. )

It isn't. And it's "console".

Quote from: GLOOPS on August 01, 2010, 11:44:58 AM
Sarcasm IS and always will be the very LOWEST form of wit!

Puns are the very lowest form of wit. Sarcasm is really somewhat similar to irony and by association in some ways, Allegory. Therefore you have just implied that George Orwell is a witless fool. I beseech you to confirm that this is not the case.

Quote
Generaly speaking, they have a very low I.Q.

Define:Irony....

Quote
I have lived a long time and seen them come and go.

Your age card has been declined.

Quote
Didn't know that the 'Recovery Consul' was just another name for the 'Command Prompt' (or the old DOS, for us that were in at the very beginning. )

As ST has just clarified, the Recovery Console is nothing at all similar to either the Command Prompt or Pure DOS, except perhaps to a skin deep comparison. ("They both have a C:\>!" falling into that category) Again, the differences are not hard to find with google.

| |
