I've installed CCCLEANER on a WIN XP system. Even though it got installed properly, I could not execute it. I tried to DOUBLE click on the DESKTOP shortcut as well as went to the programs, but in vain.

I have copied a PST file from ONE PC (Windows XP / Office XP) to a second laptop (Windows XP / Office 2003)

I keep this file on a second (non-OS) hard-drive partition so I can periodically restore my OS to a known clean state.

On both computers, I have 'added' the second partition file, pointed the mail DELIVERY to this, then removed the original Outlook.pst file which normally resides in "C:\Documents and Settings\..user..\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook"

Problem:
The second Outlook sees all mail folders and messages, and all 'Contacts'. But the Outlook Address Book is EMPTY! How do I populate the address book with the current contacts?

Possible RELATED problem??: If I 'add' a NEW contact, then copy the updated PST file back to the original machine, the 'new' contact is not listed, but updated mail messages are present!?

Is copying the PST from machine to machine not permitted for synching Outlook?You should import the file (through the File menu) instead of copying it. Have you tried that?1) Create new empty pst file
2) Import everything from default pst file into new file
3) Change mail delivery to new pst file
4) Close Outlook and reopen
5) Close 'old default' pst file

Result:
All message and contacts remain as expected.

Open 'new message' and select the 'To...' button which displays the 'Select Names' dialog box

'No entries in this Address Book' still appears, however now there is a sub listing 'Contacts' in the 'Show Names from the' list box. The complete contact list is now available, but as a sub level list. I use Outlook Connector to sync my hotmail account with outlook. It's worked fine since last week. Now I get this ERROR:

Contacts will sync fine, but not the email messages.

I've removed the account from Outlook, then uninstalling outlook connector, and removing it from the registry. Then reinstalling. It continues doing the same thing.

I've found several other people are having this same issue, but no solution.

It is a paid hotmail account, by the way.

No recent hardware or SOFTWARE changes.

Hello all! I am in need of serious help. I am a medical transciptionist and I have recently STARTED working with a new company. I have to download voice files and then transcribe each file. My problem is that when I try to open these voice files I get an error code "Asm Stream open - the requested operation cannot be performed. I talked to their Tech support and no one seems to be able to help me.

Is it Asm stream or ACM stream? Please give the full name and suffix of just one of the files you are trying to open.

ThanksI am sorry, it is ACM stream open. This is happening when I download my voice files from Chart NET (transcription program) for listening to the doctors. I am in need of HELP! Here's an extract from one of the sites I visited in looking for an explanation of your problem:

Seems to me that you are missing some essential software to open the files but without knowing the INCOMING file format I cannot advise on any alternative. Have you contacted the sender(s) of the file(s) ?

I have a small problem with WORD at the moment.

Whenever I start a line with a CAPITAL letter and then press the "ENTER" button TWICE at the end of the line the entire line changes into a heading.

It appears to be whenever I LEAVE a blank line below another line that commences with a capital it changes the format of the line.

Can anyone suggest what has caused this ?

I HOPE you are not RUNNING both as this will cause issues.
Select one and ditch the other.

However you need other protection apps that look for more than virii...

I download music clips of youtube on a regular basics. The problem is that most of them are not great quality. I know that when there uploaded there converted to Flash so when i download i ENCODED them to mpg format using Xilisoft Video Converter. But the program does not have any good features to improve the video quality of them. Which programs would be the best to improve the quality of the music clips? I even use Power Director 6 but it make no difference. Thanks.The videos from Youtube and similar sites are compressed so heavily (to save bandwidth of course) that they are full of compression artifacts. (The square blocks in the vids). there really isn't a lot you can do to remove these artifacts.
The fact that you reencode the videos once more honestly doesn't help either since you're in fact applying yet another compression algorithm (and possibly more compression artifacts.)Deerpark is absolutely correct. Plus youtube resizes your video/picture to 320x240 which is a VERY small resolution, so that is not much for quality. Good catch And 1... somehow I completely forgot about the low resolution. If you're looking for BETTER quality videos I recommend http://stage6.divx.com. They have lots of european music videos that you don't see in the U.S. All videos are 800x600 or higher. I've uploaded a video that's 1024x768.

But during the past month I've noticed stage6 now sucks. I ping good to it (50ms), and once the downloading/buffering FINALLY BEGINS I get my download maxed out at 800kb/s. But the thing is that it takes minutes sometimes to even START. So it's like their database of videos is getting enormous.

Okay, I recently bought a Toshiba laptop (nothing incredible, it was only 500 bucks. 1.8 ghz, 80 gb hd, 512 RAM, etc). As is the case with most computer purchases, it comes with Vista--which sucks *censored*. My husband is a composer and his software won't work on Vista!

Anyway, the only copy of XP we can find around our HOUSE is ONE that came with a Dell computer and says right on the CD that it's only to be installed on a Dell. Is there some reason that this wouldn't work on the laptop? Would I need a CD key for specifically that CD or could I nab the windows key off of this computer (which runs XP)? I know it's possible to do but I forgot where to get it/how to go about doing it, and I'm not sure if it'd work.

Should I just invest in buying a new copy of XP? It's harder than it sounds since we're having a baby any day now, so we're trying to avoid it if possible!

There is a reason it won't work on that laptop...it's not a Dell ...period.

Hello, dunno how to address this issue, but whenever I try to play a video in WMP or real, or any player with the exception of VLC, I cannot SEE any video, but instead see the video for a split second. The video is incredibly dark and messed up color wise for the split second. Videos RUN fine in VLC, and I have man codecs installed for WMP and such, but I cannot play any real files, as VLC doesn't support them. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated, as I'd love to continue using WMP as my video player.You may have some codecs missing.

I am unable to send attachments from my work email ACCOUNT to my home email. This seems to be from my email specifically as other users in the company can send emails with attachments to my home account with no problem. Both email accounts are using Microsoft Outlook. When I send an email from my work account to my home account there is no attachment but the email text is there. Also, the size of the email in my home account is the same as the size of the attachment, EVEN though the attachment is not there, e.g. if I send an email from work that has a 3MB attachment, the email that I receive at home is 3Mb but with no attachment. If I send an attachment to anyone else's email address they receive it as normal.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to FIX this? Some/most workplaces block this ability on their WORKSTATIONS....check with the IT dept.

I want to divorce myself from Adobe products (including the grossly bloated Adobe Reader, by the way). Hence, I'm SEEKING alternatives. I don't know of any Flash Player alternatives. Hi, can someone tell me how I can add more than one POP3 mailbox to Outlook2002 so that when I open Outlook, I get to see multiple mailboxes at the same time? I have done this when the mailboxes are on MS Exchange Server. But, I can't get it to work when the EMAIL account is not on Exchange Server. I have no problem adding the accounts, I can pick the PROFILE to use each time I open Outlook. But, I want to be able to see both mailboxes at the same time in the same instance of Outlook. Thanks.
Sorry, I need to clarify more. When I say I want to be able to see more than one mailbox, I meant I want to be able to see both mailboxes and respective folders as well as send and receive from/to the respective folders. The mail shouldn't all come into one mailbox when mail is being sent to another mailbox.

Yes, I have email accounts from different ISPs. Currently, I have it setup to choose a profile to use when Outlook opens. However, I want to be able to look at both email accounts at the same time and to receive emails to the respective inboxes. If I add both accounts to one profile, I will get emails for both accounts in one inbox. I remembered doing this when the email accounts are on the Exchange Server. I believe I can send emails from either email account as well (or maybe the emails were sent 'on behalf of'), but, am not 100% sure.Quote

RIGHT click on any music file, click Open with, then CHOOSE Default PROGRAM, and pick Windows Media Player from the LIST. Make sure, you put checkmark in Always use the selected program to open this kind of file check box. The 1st conundrum i had with this issue was deciding where it belonged in the forums.The problem is with a piece of hardware (namely a harddrive). However it is my SUSPICION that it will be software that will(if it can be solved) solve it.
I have this 80GB Hd that was the one and only HD in the computer.I knew it's operating system winxp home was corrupted. The effect of that was that after many unsuccessful attempts to solve the software issues i opted to remove the HD and installed another with win98SE already on it.I got my computer back and then installed a 2ND HD and did a fresh install of win xp PRO on that hd. Both are continuing to work perfectly and i have no intention of trying to reintroduce the gummed up HD back into that computer.
However i would really like to regain the use of that HD and install it into another computer. My logic (could be erroneous) tells me that as it is still corrupted somehow it will not function in any computer i would install it in even as a slave. Am i right in that assumption? Is there anyway i can completely remove all the data from that HD and reformat and install whatever i want on it? I truly believe the problem is not mechanical with the HD it is software corrupted.Hope I'm in the right tent on this one. truenorthThe details you give are a bit lacking in substance. Is it a PATA or SATA drive? On the suspect hdd what is the file system? You say it had XP Home installed but is the file system Fat32 or NTFS? Also, which manufacturer?

REGARDLESS, you will have to install the hdd in some computer to format it, even if you use a usb adapter or external hdd enclosure. The first thing to do is run the manufacturer's diagnostic program(s) to show if the hdd is recoverable. If the hdd fails the test, use it as a doorstop.

What happens?I would try booting into safemode and RUNNING chkdsk /R from the command prompt.
Then re-boot into normal mode and it should run.
When is the last time you defragged ? ?patio: tried to cleanup, then did a defrag, then tried again. No biggie though. I can't remember the specs, not my computer. It was running well enough. When I first got it, it wouldn't even boot and I went through *censored* and back troubleshooting this thing. Works now. It was an Emachines POS. Next time I'll try chkdsk /r from the command prompt in safemode if the disc cleanup doesn't work. thanks.

Disk Cleanup takes forever to get going, what happens when you click on it?

The most common reasons this happens is because that person just hasn't performed regular maintenence and it just spirals out of CONTROL...
Another common cause is a drive that is too full of data...15% free space is a good rule of thumb for Windows boxes.
For example on a machine i saw this week in the "compress OLD files" portion it ran for 2 hours alone.
It's not the method i would use but it was what they wanted.

One other thing you may consider would be DLoading and running the diagnostics from the HDD manuf. site to see just how healthy that drive is.

Is there a way to copy and paste e-mails to an Outlook 2002 DISTRIBUTION list? Is there a maximum NUMBER of e-mails you can put in a distribution list? I have been ABLE to copy and paste a large number of e-mails from my other e-mail account to the "copy" portion of my outgoing e-mail (WITHOUT using the distribution list), but it will not send the e-mail. Is there a mazimum number of e-mails you can paste into the "copy" section of the e-mail?

I am trying to find a quick way to START sending out newsletters from Outlook until I can enter each address in seperately from my Netscape account.

What is the exact error message utorrent is GIVING you and where in utorrent does it appear?
Have you tried the port tester in utorrent? Options --&GT; Speed Guide --> Test if ports are FORWARDED correctly.
If you fail that test you most likely have a router you need to configure in order for utorrent to work properly.i have wireless connection.

I recently PURCHASED a Microsoft Word 2000 OEM disk from a Warehouse manufacturer. After installing it on my machine, I decided that I'd rather not use it, and offered it for sale online. Now I'm wondering if the EULA message will come up for any new user, and tell them that this was already installed, even THOUGH I erased it from my computer. Any ideas? There is no way that a PROGRAM being installed from a CD-ROM can know or tell that it has already been installed on a computer, or for that matter, whether it has been erased again. A CD-ROM is a read-only medium. Nothing can change what is on there. (except for scratches I suppose).

If you want to sell an OEM SOFTWARE disk you are obliged legally to first remove the software it installed on your computer, and of course, you must definitely destroy any backup CD-ROM copies you may have legally made while you were the owner of the software.

Is WinVNC needed or do you only need to get rid of the error message?
Because if you only need to get rid of the error the easiest way would be to uninstall WinVNC...Im pretty sure they use vnc, although I will double check.

I would like to rip a non-copy protected DVD (my professional sample TV reel) from my computer's DVD player to my HARD drive. When reading about various software options (Roxio, Nero, etc) they all PROMISE on the box features that one can rip from camcorders, etc, but say nothing about simply ripping from the computer's own dvd player. I'd like to rip it as a file I can edit on most software - AVI? Does someone know which software package I can do this with? And which is the best one to USE to first rip, then edit. I don't want to spend over 100 dollars on software and find it doesn't rip from an internal dvd player. Thanks..Quote

Ok a friend of mine had a problem with her O/S a file was corrupt allowing it not to pick up any usb device(this was the conclusion i came to after i tried everything else) so i reinstalled xp...well at first i just did the repair hoping that MAYBE when it repaired it that it would fix whatever file was crapped up. well the repair would get to about 1 minute left and before it could finish her laptop would restart itself and wouldn't contine finishing repair after this it would just try and load up to desktop but when it would get to the screen with the windows xp load screen with the BAR that has the loading bars in it it would pull up the blue screen of death and then restart and it wouldn't stay up long enough for me to tell what it was saying. Well i went ahead and just completely reinstalled xp but instead of installing it in the windows folder cuz she had important stuff saved in her my documents and it said that those would be deleted i installed the windows files into a folder she never used that i knew was on there...well the point of this is can i safely remove the old windows files from her previous xp from the windows folder and safely put the new windows files into the windows folder cuz she has to xp's on one harddrive but one doesn't work??Quote

First and foremost a reinstall does not wipe out old documents.

Second: Once you install Windows somewhere else you could create a boat load of problems installing some programs, because they put the files in some of the old Windows directories!

I would backup the files and install Windows where it belongs! Windows is flaky enough without having two sets of directories to work with.

I have a Compaq Presario PC and whenever i try to ADJUST my MENU volume i hear a beep coming from the PC. I STILL have sound and my speakers are seperate from the pc. i also use a logitech headset.so far i have TRIED to update my sound/video but no luck FINDING a better one

I am tired of buying ink for my fax machine, (which prints like crud anyway) and since I only need to send or recieve faxes maybe 2 or 3 times a month, I have thought about buying a program like WinFax, where I could just print out the faxes on my printer. I have found them on ebay, brand new, for less than a new ink cartridge for my fax machine. (Which also takes up a ton of space.)

My question is this, all the info I read about these PROGRAMS they are geared towards small businesses, and are full of info on using cell phones and multi users. Not my thing. What I need is something that will work on one phone LINE and not interfere with my DSL. Would that do it?

I have an HP pavilion laptop, with Win XP HOME edition, am using a broadband DSL connection that I connect to over a home wireless network. I also have available a voice modem on my laptop. All my phone jacks (minus the DSL connection) have the DSL filters on them.

Is there anything special I would need to do, or a special program I would need to buy?

Thanks!I'm not familiar with the various fax software programs that are available. But, here's one that looks interesting. It's called MightyFax. They have a helpful diagram on their WEBSITE: Diagram showing a typical DSL modem and faxmodem hookup.

As you can see, you would connect a regular telephone line to your dialup modem to receive faxes, and it would be filtered, the same as your regular telephone lines.

yea, tried it. i've read elsewhere that theres a problem that if you've had a trial version of fraps and you get the real version, the registries from the trial version don't go away and prevent the usage of the new version.If that is the case I suggest you uninstall Fraps and make SURE the Fraps folder is deleted.
Then download CCleaner (get the slim version) and use it to clean the REGISTRY. Hopefully that can take care of any leftover registry keys.
well i tried that and FIXED all the errors in the registry. still nothing.Uninstall fraps and then run CCleaner "issues" scan to clean out the garbage.
Then un-install the game and re-install it and do the same with fraps.ccleaner only brings up like 2 things related to fraps, and i've fixed them both while fraps was installed and when fraps was uninstalled. i'm still not getting any results.Did you re-install the game as suggested ?yup. several TIMES, ACTUALLY. and did the ccleaner every time it was installed and un-installed.

I have been using the above program for some time and it works great. Bought it just before they were purchased by Norton. I back up a complete image of C drive to an external Western Digital drive.

I would now like to get a Western digital external drive that is raid, 1TB. While I could continue to run the backup to the old drive, I would like to write it to the raid drive. I do not plan to use the raid in the traditional back up mode, but in the raid 0 striping mode for speed.

But not sure if I could do backup recover from a raid drive. ANYONE have any experience with this?Not POSITIVE on the RAID issue but i believe the version you mentioned did not support backing up to external devices.

Hi,

I was wondering if there was a maximum AMOUNT of address' that could be PUT in a group listing in Outlook Express. I'm helping a friend set up a MAILING list for his restaurant, but it seems that I can only put about 22 or so address' in one group.

Am I missing something? It would be a lot more CONVENIENT to put all 300 hundred or so in one group.

Your ISP will limit you to 25, or so recipients, anyway, so you can't send 300 emails at once.

I have a problem with a local PST file. A very large folder in the PST is suddenly GONE.

I take email items that are in my server email inbox and move them into a folder CALLED "01 Processed Email" in the local PST file. This folder is quite large. The file itself is 1.9 gig.

Today, after working for 4-5 hours in Outlook and actually forwarding something from the "01 Processed Email" folder, that folder is completely GONE. The PST file is still there and it's still 1.9 gig in size. But the folder "01 Processed Email" is gone. All other folders are there.

I looked for it within other folders but can't find it. I do NOT REMEMBER ever seeing anything that WOULD suggest I accidentally deleted it (such as a confirmation "Are you sure you want to delete this?"). Furthermore, there is nothing in my Deleted Items.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what could have happened? My IT team tried to restore an image of my hard drive from early in the day but that still did not bring back those messages.

I do not have as much experience as a friend of mine has w/outlook and other smtp's, pop3 servers and IMAP's. But I can provide a link to some great programs all in one that we both use. It has alot of info on "personal storage files" and "online personal storage files".. and troubleshooting those programs as well as offering alternatives.

-Jay If you're using Outlook 2000 I can tell you right now what the issue is.

Outlook 2000 pst's have major issues as soon as they near 2 gigs. My ADVICE to you: backup your pst asap and then copy all folders over to a new pst. Get rid of what you don't need.

(this is all assuming you are using 2000)

Also, give us more info on your system... what os are you running, etc

Anyone experienced with using this program?

I recently got this program and tried to rip one of my DVD's, but when I open the ripped FILE, VLC tells me the AVI is broken (and that skipping will not work properly) then asks if I would like to fix it.

Either way, wether I click yes or no the file plays WITHOUT a problem and skipping does work, just not in chapters (I CHOSE not to rip the chapters individually)

Just wondering if anyone has used this program before or encountered this before and KNOWS how to sort it...

When I have a word document OPEN, and I open up another word document at the same time, the existing word document closes AUTOMATICALLY. I can only open one word document at a time. But I've also found that some word documents that should be in my documents folder are missing.

I'm using windows XP, I'm using microsoft word '97, It's a Dell 450.

Do you have original Office CD?
I don't remember, if it goes all the way back to '97 version, but Office CD had "Repair" option, or you can try to reinstall...Have you checked under Tools/Options ? ?
There's probably a setting that STATES open file in a new window or something similar...

Am using InstallShield 12 Premier Edition to CREATE a setup for aprogramme.I want to create a shortcut that INKS to a .bat file in the programme after installation . I was ABLE to get the shortcut on desktop after installation but it is not working,i mean it is not running the specified .bat file when i click on it . BTW,I added this shortcut using "New Shortcut to Preexisting file" and linked it the CORRECT path to the ORIGINAL file.

I received a .pps file that the originator CREATED in a "slide sorted" view; meaning I have to click each slide in order to see each on the display page, but I ENJOY using the "view show" style presentation instead.

I KNOW I can go to the "slide show" drop down menu and click the "view show" tab to convert it to the AUTOMATED version.

What I would like to know is, how do I (if it is even possible) permantly convert and save the file from the slide sorted view to the slide show view? I appreciate your time.
