Solve : Pop Ups being blocked?

Answer»

I have my pop up blocker disabled but when certain things try to open up in a popup window I get an error message that SAYS your browser blocked a window and I don't understand why this is happening if my pop up blocker is disabled. Is there something ELSE that could be wrong...what pop up blocker are you using? Is this this the Internet Explorer pop up or something else???I am thinking it is my internet explorer pop up but I have my pop up blocker disabled and I listed the site in my trusted sites and it STILL gives me the error that my browser blocked a pop up....

for certain other websites like when I have to click on a calendar to open up like to select a date.. I can't get those pop ups either....

Just not sure what is wrong...

Thankstry RESETTING internet explorer and see if that help fix the problem.

After the reset, you can retry the disabling of the popup blocker of IE if it isn't already disabled. I tried resetting it and it still gives me the same message. I have included screen shots of the message I get. In the screen shots you can see my pop up blocker disabled also the site is listed as a trusted site. Let me know if you would like to see anything else.

Solve : Can't read pdf files?

Answer»

I just switched to Windows 7, 64 bit. MS Office 2007.
I can't read pdf files when I open them.
MS Word window opens.
Then a pop-up window called "File Conversion" comes up. It SAYS: SELECT the encoding that MAKES your document readable.
I have 3 choices. Windows, MS-Dos, Other; I select Windows. and get a "Preview" which is 'computer gibberish.
So I have to open Adobe Reader (Latest version) - click open and find my file in order to open it. I want to be able to click on it when I originally want to open it and have it read the pdf.
What am I doing wrong? What can I do?
How To Set or CHANGE File Associations in Windows 7 & Vista ! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Now I can quickly, easily read my pdf files!

I also can't read files that end in .sql . I think they are associated with WordPress. This isn't on the wonderful list you sent me to. Any help on this one?

I also can't open files (videos) that are sent in Camtasia. Any ideas on this?

Solve : Windows Media Player CD Burning Issue?

Answer»

I am assuming my problem is a software one. I am using XP Pro on a Dell DIMENSION PC. My problem is that for some reason when I burn a CD using Window Media Player (version 11.0.572.5268) it says it is burning, each track fills as usual, pending, burning, finalizing etc. However it does it very quickly indeed. Once COMPLETE it will only play on my PC, no other household CD player will play it (only one track comes up and it will not play at all).

It reads CD’s fine and plays them.

I tried a program called Microsoft Fixit Center, but all it says is that “this drive will not record CD’s" Well I know that!

However I also have my daughters OLD version of iTunes she left on my PC. This works fine, burns the CD and it will play on any machine. Which is what makes me think it is a software problem.

The CD/DVD drive is external (a Phillips SPD3100l) connected via USB, which I have had a few years and seems to work in all other respects, but for some reason suddenly has this strange problem. Any ideas anyone?
That is normal.
Is this your own music that you composed?
If not, you can only play it on your PC.
It is part of DRM.
Digital Rights Management.

It is like when you have to ask the Fire Department ...
if you can have a backyard Bar B Q today.
I would agree with you but for two reasons. One I have been burning copies of many CD albums over many years WITHOUT this problem Also I tried to burn a copy of my brothers band (which I transferred from vinyl). This would not play on my domestic players either.

The music I burnt from the iTunes program were from original CD copies (Mozart, Britney Spears and Led Zep) also some downloaded (from Audable). All of which were fine and played fine on my home players.....We are talking about computers and how big companies try to interfere with our choices of what software and hardware we can use and how we use it.

Earlier I have mentioned how the Digital Rights Management is a conspiracy. And some members are getting tired of my ranting on and on about this.

So, I we use an allergy Allegory. Here is my Allegory. In a criminal trial against an individual the prosecutor may not have direct evidence of the specific crime. So he may introduce into the record the history of this individual in some other crimes that he committed. This would influence the jury to yield a guilty verdict. But the defense will object, saying the past history of the individual is not on trial here.

All right, but take a look at this. And then tell the Jury to ignore the information you see below.

Solve : inserting a picture into a resume or cover letter?

Answer»

I've been trying to insert my picture into a cover letter and or resume. I've only had moderate success with MS Word. Can you recommend a program to do this? I can re size the picture and place it in the letter but the spacing isn't quite right. If I put the picture on the right it's like the picture takes up the whole space from left to right on the page and I can't insert any text to the left of the picture and it looks not quite right. Your version of Word?More important, NEVER put a photo on a resume or cover letter.Quote from: gord99 on May 29, 2010, 07:13:37 AM

I understand what you're trying to do and it can be done but Allan raised an important POINT about photos on resumes and/or cover letters. Quote from: Allan on May 29, 2010, 12:13:04 PM
More important, NEVER put a photo on a resume or cover letter.
Why may I ask? It's unprofessional. NEVER put a photo on a resume.Generally, companies don't want a photo on or with resumes for legal REASONS. Back in the 1940's, 1950's (before my time to submit resumes) it was not unusual for companies to ask for photos with resumes or applications. Then in the 1960's (don't HOLD me to the exact dates), some companies started getting sued for racial DISCRIMINATION based on the photo being that of a minority and they weren't considered for the job.

After that companies just stopped accepting all photos just to be safe.

Solve : MS office vs open office?

Answer»

my laptop came with a trial VERSION of MS office 07. I am in school, and use a lot of Word for school. When i am not at school i save a lot of information to a thumb drive, so i can continue the work on my laptop. Can i move documents back and forth from word and open office without loosing work, or data corruption? Yes, recent versions of Open Office recognize and can save in the Word 2007 .DOCX format.Yes.

Since you are a Student you should inquire at the bookstore about a full copy of Office 2010...the discounts for Students are substantial and should be taken advantage of whenever POSSIBLE....matter of fact grab Win 7 as WELL and save it for your next upgrade..... what about power point, and excel. They will also work the same with open office. I didn't THINK to ask about that as well, i do apologize. and i didnt know about the student discount. i will have to look into that as well. Thank you Yes...and Yes.Thank you for your time and information. Have a great day.Do the same...

Solve : Problem with internet connection using skype and other webcam chats?

Answer»

I just recently bought a webcam. Its a logitech C200. The problem is when I use any kind of chat service to webcam with a friend, I have a bad connection and get kicked out. For example, on skype, it says i have a very slow connection, and on oovoo I am usually I start out in green bar for 2 minutes, than change to red bar and get kicked out. I just recently updated the RAM on my computer so that I could use the webcam. Any ideas on how to fix this please?

Im using an Acer travelmate 4650 laptop with 1.99GB RAM.
I also use Windows XP.

What type of internet connection do you have and what is the speed you normally get from it? truenorthI have PTD, and the speed on my laptop is around 54.0MbpsWhat he means is cable, DSL, satellite or other?
54.0Mbps is your connection to the router or the modem, not to the internet.PTD is an ISP that works mostly by using other providers lines. They offer cable, DSL and dial up service. The DSL speeds range from 384 Kbs to a 20 Mbs service. No speed is given for cable but they offer DOCSIS 3.0 and channel bonding so it should be a decent speed.

The first THING you need to is to check your actual speed.

http://www.speedtest.net/ is a good one.Oh ok, thank you you for the explanation. I have cable internet. Here are my speedtest results.

That should be more than good enough for Skype, or any webcam. Check you speed several times a day and see if it changes drastically.

My first guess is that's an interment problem with your cable provider.yeah, speedtest shows drastically diff results. This is what i just received after testing:

Sometimes though i will get like a 1.00 download, and a .20 upload.
I dont know whats up with that. That's a huge difference between the two tests, but either is more than enough for Skype or webcams. There is a little disagreement about the minimum speed needed for video. Some people say 1 Mbs down is the minimun and some say 1.5 Mbs is the minimum, so based on those tests you are more than good.

If it sometimes drops to .2 Mbs upstream that could be part of the problem.

I'd test the speeds often for a couple of days and keep a log of the results and times. Also, keep a record of the times you are kicked off. See if there is any common ground.

If you are only having a problem with one person it could also be on their end.

Based on what you have posted so far it may not be a quick fix, but I'm sure it's fixable.I would be contacting your ISP at this point with your speed test results and seeking their input as to why there is such a huge variance. If you are able to detect the huge changes that you have it is very reasonable to suspect that there are instances of where it drops even lower. Which then accounts for the loss of connection. You certainly do NOT have a stable connection. I would go there 1st before i started changing your own equipment. If your having these results with your provider i suspect so are all other customers. If it is only you then it could be their interaction with you via equipment they have provided. good luck, truenorthWhat are modem POWER levels, upstream & downstream?

Solve : Windows Installer Cleanup Utility Error?

When I try installing Windows Installer Cleanup Utility it pops up with the picture attached. help?

[recovering disk space - OLD attachment deleted by admin]The DLL for this is not registered with windows:

First off, Reinstall the Windows Script Engine:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=C717D943-7E4B-4622-86EB-95A22B832CAA

Then:

Start -> Run
Type: regsvr32 scrrun.dll
Hit Enter.

Tell me if anything comes up, if not, then try reinstalling Win Installer.'Windows Script 5.6 for Windows XP and Windows 2000
Brief Description
THIS UPDATE IS BEING RE-PACKAGED AND WILL BE MADE AVAILABLE SHORTLY.'

from your link.

and:

[recovering disk space - old attachment deleted by admin]Well atleast the DLL is there, the link was for a reinstall in case that the DLL was missing.

Try reinstalling Win Installer Cleanup now.startmsi.vbs:

Code: [Select]Set fso=CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
Set WshShell = CreateObject("WScript.Shell")
bRemoveMSECACHE = False

sProgramFiles = WshShell.ExpandEnvironmentStrings("%ProgramFiles%")
If sProgramFiles = "%ProgramFiles%" Then sProgramFiles = WshShell.RegRead("HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows CurrentVersion\ProgramFilesDir")

sMSECACHEPath = sProgramFiles & "\MSECACHE"
If Not fso.FolderExists(sMSECACHEPath) Then
fso.CreateFolder(sMSECACHEPath)
bRemoveMSECACHE = True
End If

sTargetPath = sMSECACHEPath & "\WICU3"
If Not fso.FolderExists(sTargetPath) Then fso.CreateFolder(sTargetPath)

fso.CopyFile fso.GetParentFolderName(WScript.ScriptFullName) & "\M*.*", sTargetPath
fso.CopyFile fso.GetParentFolderName(WScript.ScriptFullName) & "\r*.*", sTargetPath

sCmd = "msiexec.exe /i """ & sTargetPath & "\msicuu.msi"""
iRC = WshShell.Run(sCmd, 4, True)

If iRC <> 0 And iRC <> 3010 Then
fso.DeleteFolder sTargetPath, True
If bRemoveMSECACHE Then fso.DeleteFolder sMSECACHEPath, True
End If

line 5, where the error occurs:

Code: [Select]If sProgramFiles = "%ProgramFiles%" Then sProgramFiles = WshShell.RegRead("HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows CurrentVersion\ProgramFilesDir")

which means that the WshShell.RegRead call is causing the error. Since earlier functions used to create and use the FSO (which resides in scrrun.dll) succeeded, the problem s probably not with scrrun.dll or it's registration- and is unique to this line.

WshShell is not in scrrun.dll, but rather an object in wshom.dll, the Windows Script HOST Object Model.

So- try:

Code: [Select]regsvr32 "%systemroot%\system32\wshom.dll"

then see if you can run the utility.this happened:

[recovering disk space - old attachment deleted by admin]Go to Start/Run and type in SFC /scannow and hit Enter...
Have your XP CD handy.
Let it run to completion...remove the CD and re-boot.oops, my mistake. it's wshom.ocx, not dll.Click Start, Run and type:

Solve : Unable to load graphics conversion filter.?

Wordpad on XP can open most word documents. evidently this is an exception. also, documents in wordpad often go by the doc extension.Normally .doc files are MS Word files. They can be opend with WordPad, but
they may not display correctly because WordPad does not have all the

All deep freeze does is set the computer in the SAVED state EVERY time it is turned on. Any file changes or NEW file CREATIONS made during the computer's last use are removed completely.

Solve : What does a "Engine" do ??

Answer»

I hear a LOT about "engines",what does this exactly do ? Is it a program that makes your video-card work with the rest of your computer ? Is there a engine other than for video ?
I`d really like to KNOW,I`m thinking of doing animation with my sound-studio.
I know a bit about computers,but I`m no guru !
Greetz;Eric.

PS;With engine I mean, example;Cryengine 2.If oyu mean things like game engines (like the quake, quake 2, doom, etc engines, half life 2, etc etc.

Consider the quake engine. It was USED in Quake (duh)- but the same "engine" was also used in a number of other games. The engine is the way that game characters and actions are handled. For example, doors are handled by the game engine, as are enemy movement and models, AI, switches and so forth.

This is further illustrated by the fact that most game engines, even for the same genre, refer to the same things with different names or don't even have some things. for example, Duke Nukem 3D was created using the BUILD engine. Since the internal workings of the BUILD engine and how it renders the environment are completely different from quake, these differences are found also in the way effects are created. for Build, creating an effect such as flashing lights or a switch involves the setting of hitag and lotag values on sprites and walls as well as the creation of special "SectorEffector" sprites. Note that it is important to notice also that BUILD itself doesn't recognize most of the effectors used in Duke- Duke nukem itself recognizes a wide assortment and handles them. So while one game might use a Sector Effector sprite with a lotag of 7 as a teleporter, another might use it for something else.

The quake Engine, in contrast, being based on BSP (Binary Space partitioning) can be seen to have a number of concepts from that being used in dealing with the engine. For example, any 3-d Object in quake is a "Brush". Game items, such as ammo, health, enemies, etc, are "Edicts" I haven't mapped much with Quake so I have no idea how it makes VARIOUS effects such as doors opening and touchplates.

Anyway, long story short- an engine basically let's the game programmer work in higher level concepts- instead of having to work with polygons and vertices, they can think in turns of models, weapons, and so forth. For example, they can deal in concepts such as players, items, objects, and vehicles rather then as a nameless bunch of triangles and vertices. Thanks for your very fine explenation. With only a little help from the web I now understand !
You know your stuff !!! After what you said;People who make engines are "artists".
It seems it`s a very specialized "corner" in game-programming.
I came to the question after Autodesk 3ds Max made some referances to it.
Thanks a lot for your reply,greetings;Eric...

PS;Forgive my English,I`m Dutch A engine is a software that the game is based on.

Solve : Removing a foreign audio channel from a xvid file?

Answer»

I have an English xvid tv PROGRAMME on the pc that has two audio channels installed.
Audio #1 is in Russian and Audio # 2 is in English. (there are no SUBTITLES involved).
So when played back via Realplayer it's in English and Russian at the same time (most confusing), although VLC player allows me to switch between audio channels.
Because l want to burn this to disk, is there a program that will allow me to either reconvert it again or burn it excluding Audio channel #1?
I normally use vso's converxtodvd, but can't seem to find out whether this can do it or not.
Any ideas?

Solve : Photo Menu . Interactive Photo.?

Answer»

Photo menu. Interactive photo.

I WOULD find the script or the software for :

1) I take with my camera a photo.
I want to incrust a link in some parts of this photo (so I suppose I have to decompose the original photo in parts and collage to FORM one after). Then ; in the parts wanted I have to associate a link like I do in my word 2002 from Microsoft .

2)ADDITIONALLY i would like a HELP describing the aim of that link when I pass the mouse over that area.

3) perhaps another program to word better. It's not the first time I use linking over a word document to LAUNCH applications, documents, web links, etc.

So

The difficult part for me is find a program to fragment the image, associate every part a link, and integrate after in the adecuate way.

It's possible, and how ?

Solve : Abode Flash Player?

I heard have heard most of the solutions to resolve the flash player issues BUt, What actually does it take to get the software downloaded and the most compatable browser tht works .Guaranted. Please help. Please and Thanks.

There are no guarantees when it comes to browser compatibility and Flash. You're talking about a browser plug-in from one company working on a browser from another company working on an OS which may or may not be from a third company (depending on the browser).

Along the lines of what Allan said, if you're having some issue then give the details so we can give a proper solution.Like Allan said a lot more information is really needed.

But I'm going to make a WAG anyway.

When upgrading Flash, sometimes all previous versions of flash need to be deleted (through the add/remove programs in control panel) before the new VERSION can be downloaded.

And I'm not sure any browser is better than another when it comes to flash. There is a reason Apple doesn't want anything to do with flash, but most of us are kind of stuck with it, and all in all it's really not that bad.Quote from: rthompson80819 on May 28, 2010, 12:29:32 AM
.There is a reason Apple doesn't want anything to do with flash ...
Are you saying Apple avoids Flash? I don't believe that. Since the use of Flash by a website is determined by the website developer, it's use for web content is not something chosen by the computer user browsing the web nor is it determined by what OS is being used. Apple does not allow Flash on their portable devices (iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad) because of the high processing power needed to run.
Adobe Flash works perfectly on other Apple products.

I think most people are like me and are getting sick of flash. I am SO glad SITES like Youtube are converting to HTML5. Flash always slowed down my computer and drained my battery.

In my opinion HTML5 is, as Apple says, the future of web content delivery.Plus, Firefox can use the OGG video format for videos, and it displays them without any plugin.I'm also having an adobe flash player 10 problem.

My problem started on Youtube when NOTHING would play and displays the message "you need to upgrade Adobe flash player to watch this video." So I went and downloaded the new Adobe and installed it yet it still doesn't seem to work. I'm really confused now and starting to lose hair, please help!I thought Youtube has converted over to HTML5?

Nevertheless, start a new topic Deadhand.I dont have a problem using google chrome and using flash player...i recomend google chrome it is easy to use.

Solve : can someone tell good system cleaner .???

Answer»

hi guys,

my DISK space is getting reduced day by day.. all I do is just surf internet and run few programs..??
that ALSO makes my system slow..is there any tool that cleans junk stuff..??

Thanks CCleaner comes highly recommended. http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/

1) Do NOT use any registry cleaners (ccleaner is pretty benign).
2) Empty the Temporary Internet Files Folder.
3) Disable System Restoer (NOTE: All restore points will be immediately deleted)
4) Empty the Temp Folder
5) Limit the space used by Temporary Internet Files if necessary
6) Limit the space used by System Restore
7) Empty the Recycle Bin
Run a full system scan with BOTH your antivirus utility AND MalwareBytesYou can try ATF-Cleaner, http://www.atribune.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=25&Itemid=25

It can delete both Windows Temp and recycle bin, also clean Firefox, Opera browser.Windows hase a built in disk cleaner I'd been using cc cleaner for years now. Based from my experience this free computer program is highly useful. It has never failed to keep my computer in good running condition. Plus it helps me effectively utilize valuable AMOUNT of my hard disk space.
Can anyone tell me why people want to clean there registry? It wont go any slower because you have keys the computer don't read, also it wont make up so much space, the keys is like 250 byte or even less.

You're quite right. There is zero reason for anybody to ever "clean" their registry, since there is no such thing as a "clean" registry to begin with (since "clean" implies that there can be a "dirty" registry, except having a "dirty" registry would mean that a good number of registry keys/values are "dirty" but what the heck is a "dirty registry key" or "dirty registry value"? There is no such thing. And those programs that "clean" the registry all have a different definition of what a "dirty" key/value is, and most of them even go so far as to claim that there are "errors" as well, which is pure bollocks. (well, not truly, since you have registry errors, but when you do, you get a blue screen, not "reduced system performance" as many programs seem to claim).but what about the things where cleaning registry does fix problems???Quote from: 2x3i5x on July 23, 2010, 12:20:10 PM
but what about the things where cleaning registry does fix problems???

They don't.that's what i thought....

Quote
Mark Russinovich of Microsoft wrote that "Even if the registry was massively bloated there would be little impact on the performance of anything other than exhaustive searches." This is not to say that the ACTUAL cleaning is bad, but it does seem pointless. If your machine has reached a point where the registry file is what is holding it back, it's time for a fresh installation of the operating system.

I can get like 50+ pages on people who have destroyed there computer for using a cleaner.
What pages? The FACT is that there are MANY, MANY reported problems on support forums that relate directly to the use of registry "cleaners". As I've said, there are some that are very dangerous (they will delete important entries and the user won't know enough not to allow the deletion, etc) and there are some that are pretty benign, but NONE of them do anything that will help your system in any way, shape or form.

Solve : Create Excel Formula to subtract end time from start time?

I need help writing a formula to subtract the end time of an event from the start time of the event.

I have tried searching functions by asking for a formula to "subtract end time from start time" and VARIATIONS on this, but keep COMING up with TIME(hour, minute, second) or HOUR as the option under "select a function".

I am working in Excel 2007, and I have my times listed as "8:30:00 AM" and "1:00:00 PM" which is the time format as provided by Excel. Here is an example of my formula:
(cell A1 reads) 8:30:00 AM
(cell A2 reads) 1:00:00 PM

Formula: =(A1-A2)
Answer when requested as time: ########################################
Answer when requested as number: -0.19

Formula: =ABS(A1-A2)
Format: Formula as Time, in type 13:30, i.e. no AM or PM
(Formula cell): 4:30yes, type your times using the 24 hr military format and you're good to GO. Alternately, (A2-A1)*24 gives you the DIFFERENCE, in decimal form. (In other words, 4.5 hours).

What you're getting with A2-A1 -- that is, 0.19 (rather, 0.1875) is the number of DAYS between the two numbers. Since it's less than a day, it gives you a decimal. Multiplying by 24 hours gives you the number of hours.

Solve : Checking someone else's computer from my computer?

Answer»

Hello people, I'm kind of new here and I dont exactly know where to ask this question and I'm really in need of it right now. I'm an owner of a company with a lot of potential BUSINESS clients. As an owner there are a lot of employees who work under me. So there are a lot of chances of money STEALING etc. I have some doubts over someone who is trying to contact my clients secretly and doing business with them. I have had a couple of complains before as well... so what I need is a software or some other way like networking protocols or WHATEVER to check that person's computer from my computer and see what he's doing, like the desktop and all. Our all the computers are connected with the same broadband internet. I want to do it as soon as possible and I want to do it without letting that person know that I'm keeping track to everything he's doing.

PLEASE let your comments flow if you know the solution and pardon me if I sound stupid! You won't get any help here to hack someone else's computer. Try Google.IF, all the computers are owned by the company, and connected to a company network, there are several programs that monitor employee activity, primarily CHECKING for porn activity, (obviously the SEC doesn't use this software).

If you are really that concerned about employees dealing with clients behind your back you need to do a better job with employee screening.A Google or Bing search on monitor employee internet usage will yield some helpful info. Yeah i would advise hiring people who WONT give you reasons to worry about those kinds of things

Solve : Compress video using Windows Movie Maker?

Answer»

I recently recorded a video using my video camera. I uploded it to my computer stright from my video camera. I now have to compress the video. I looked online and got directions on how to do this. The problem is when i try to import the video from my flash drive it does not appear as an option. The video is on the flash drive, justnot when i try and import it into windows movie maker. I put the video on my desktop and tried to import it again but again its not an option. Helpwhat file FORMAT is the video? if it isn't WMM compatible, you'll need to convert it first.

and try saving a COPY to desktop and then attempt import of video from desktop if you think original video should be working as is.How do I convert it to WMM?When I said WMM, I meant windows movie maker. What FILETYPE is your original video on your flash drive?

read this Microsoft link which lists the various file formats that windows media maker for windows XP will accept.

Now, for converting FILES, I've had success with Any Video Converter software and Zamzar Online Converter.

Zamzar has a filesize limit of 100 MB though. I don't know what filetype your video camera saves your video as so I can't say if it'll work or not but check it out anyway.

Solve : Can RAM Speed Up My Computer? (the answer)?

Answer»

Can RAM Speed Up My Computer? (the answer)

Many people are looking for ways to speed up your PC. And adding RAM seems to be a VIABLE option. To answer the question: yes, the RAM may speed up your computer. RAM stands for Random Access Memory. Everything you do with the RAM team.

The amount of RAM used depends on what type of program is running. That's how it works. All Windows operating systems like Microsoft use a component called virtual memory manager VMM. Run a program like a web browser or an instant messenger, will lead to a microprocessor in your computer to load an executable file in your RAM. For larger programs, so they usually deal with 5 megabytes of RAM. Also, the microprocessor uses shared DLLs, or dynamic link libraries that can go from 20 to 30 megabytes of RAM.

Most users of the programs open simultaneously. For example, do the research, could have a word processor performance while several Internet browsers for research. Sometimes the music player also. This is in addition to the RAM used. If you use more memory than what is currently installed on your unit, then surely experience a slow PC.

In this case all you have to do is increase your RAM. To learn exactly how much RAM you need to add to your hardware, you must first find the amount of RAM you have. If you do not know your state of RAM, right click on My Computer and choose Properties. Select the General tab and information, including RAM, is shown. Then press and hold control alt delete to go to Task Manager. In the Processes tab, you will see the amount of RAM used for a particular program. Add this up and you have the number of RAM it uses. Calculating the deficit of installed RAM. This, more or less, will give you an idea of the amount of RAM you need.

Adding RAM is a cheap alternative to the speed of your computer as opposed to buying a new unit faster. And while you're at it, perhaps you might CONSIDER purchasing an external HARD drive. This is useful for storing and transferring important files that are not normally use. Keep regularly used files on the hard disk only leave more space than the PC experience results faster.

Aside from adding RAM, other ways to speed up your computer is to free some space on the hard disk continuously. Uninstall and remove unused programs, because they eat the space can be used for anything else. Clear the CACHE of temporary Internet files and offline content from time to time.

If you do not have the budget for the improvement of their hardware such as RAM, you can use certain techniques to maximize their skills current RAM. Make sure you only open programs you need. Avoid opening unnecessary programs or software. This will lead to less use of RAM memory, giving a faster PC speed and fewer headaches and frustration that can bring slow PC.

you can also USING some programs that provide ram performance and free it up just like tune up program thant you can download it from there:

tune up:

Solve : DVD Burn with Menus? Recommendation Needed?

Answer»

I had used Nero in the past - I think I had 5 or 6 - thought it was a real dog's breakfast of a program, to be honest. (In fact, I just sent my CD to my dad last week - it was included on the driver disk that came with the DVD burner I sent....)

Anyway, I've been using Free Movies to DVD to create my .ISO file and Burn Aware Free to write to DVD - which has been fantastic. BUT, it basically means my DVDs are like "videotapes" - you put the disc in the player, and it just plays from start to finish.

Most of the time, that's fine - I don't need much fancier than that.

But SOMETIMES, I would like to do a menu - so I can select which CHAPTER to jump to. Fancy graphics and music are a big plus, but not a must.

AND I'm pretty much a skinflint when it comes to this stuff... Freeware is always best! (Every time I buy the newest gee-whiz media software, it's obsolete before I get it registered...)

I've looked around on cnet and not seen ANYTHING earth-shattering, so I figured I'd throw it to y'all. Any recommendations?Quote from: rjbinney on June 07, 2010, 01:07:28 PM

It'll do almost anything, you want and it works seamlessly.I put in a vote for ConvertXtoDVD. I have used it for a while and am happy with it.

I did find DVD Styler before I saw your post, and was pretty happy with the result. It's a bit clunky - and I couldn't add music to the menus, but it seems to be a workhorse.
