Hi ,

I was sign in in Yahoo MESSENGER 10 and chat with some persons... then i clicked on "Yahoo Mail" button to check my mails...... because the Internet speed was really lower (some downloads where running) the sign in into mail account through browser took a while lets say 30 seconds... or more...

After that i was suddenly sign out from Yahoo Messenger 10 , saying that i was sign in into it from another machine or DEVICE, for a moment i believed that account was compromise and somebody took my pass for it... But i could sign in back right away , lets say 5 seconds after i was automatically sign out with that message.

Could be the FACT that an timeout occurred when i tried to open the mail box through browser , and because of that i was automatically sign out from Messenger with that message saying that i sign in from another device...
Or there could be more issues related to this ?

PLEASE if you have an idea about this help me to clarify this strange behavior....

If your downloading 'something' else and you are having 'lag' issues with the computer it sounds very normal. Yahoo is not the fastest server on the planet and sometimes needs a hard reset to get it going.
I think you have nothing to worry about. Just make sure non of your contacts are receiving messages from your account that you have never sent.
Please post back if you are still having trouble.This type of message can also be generated if you have more than one computer on at the same time and you are ALREADY signed in on one of them and it tries to make the connection on another.I generally have 2 running at the same time and it signs in on the 1st one i turn on then when the 2ND is turned on the message you state arises. Actually, I saw this entry of PDFsam within Ubuntu's 'ADD/REMOVE Programs' & hence that bragging.

Hello all, I'm trying to reinstall the os for my cousin's laptop, but there is no boot option for booting from CD/DVD. I then tried to go in the BIOS settings and change it, but the configure setup section was locked. Is there any good way to remove the pass, except opening the laptop and REMOVING the pin? Because I don't know how to open it (the laptop), and most password crack softwares must be booted to do it, and it's just impossible!

My company is looking to start using a company for backup and a company for file sharing/syncing. We were hoping that we could find ONE company that would do both of these actions, but i am having trouble finding one. We just want a backup to store our files off site in case of a fire or other unforseen disaster. We want file sharing so many people can access and work on a document at the same time. OK, Folks here is the whole story in a NUT shell.
From some time, i had alert from Microsoft Windows 7, my Hard Drive was not working WELL and did not pay any attention.
One day i checked my PC with "Belarc" and there too was the Hard Drive was not good. Here too , i ignored the warning.
Then i installed the Acronis Hard drive MONITOR ,and after a scan, there was the message the hard drive could fail anytime. So, i thought , it was time to have a serious look and backup my PC. My last backup was 1 1/2 months overdue.
I backup with Acronis on my Hard Drive E with a capacity of 232 GB. My last backup was of the size of 132 GB and i had to delete the old backup before i could fit the new one .
Then......the backup failed and the Hard Drive "started to get nut" with BootMGR is missing , and also could not find Hard Drive (C:) with was (D:).
I am so busy enjoying my life and i didn't have the time to try to fix it myself. So , i took the PC to the workshop
and asked the guy to try to save the data and transfer it to the new Hard Drive which i pay A$ 265.00 included the work.
The guy over the phone told me the data could not be retrieved.
When i picked up my PC i asked my old Hard Drive back.
I went to a workshop which SPECIALIZE to recover data from Hard Drive. Unfortunately, they could not. What happened to the old hard drive in the first workshop is any one guess. Cost here A$ 45.00
I live in the country site and the town is 168 KMS return from our farm. Cost of petrol around A$ 60.00.
Lessons i learned here:
If you have an warning about you HD , take it seriously and investigate immediately.
Make sure you have a good workshop you can trust
When you buy a external HD, buy one with a big capacity ,if you can afford it
I am thinking to backup on my HD (F:) and (E:), better 2 backup that one.

I was wondering if there was a tool available that could help me achieve the following:

- I have over 100 separate MS word document files saved in a particular folder. These each represent a paragraph/section of a complete document.

- Depending on the project I am WORKING on, I currently select a certain number of these "sections" and compile them into one document. (this becomes the report for the particular project I am working on)

- Instead of doing this manually each time, is there an app that would allow me to just highlight a number of these MS word "sections" in my folder and CLICK "Compile report" and it would assemble everything for me in 1 click?

- What if I SEND these documents to Apple MAC and then try to "compile" the reports from there...is there something that WORKS for that in the same way?

Alex.Sorry, just to clarify...

I know it is possible to do this within MS word...but I was wondering if there was a completely separate tool...that would just open as a separate window where it is possible to "browse" and "select" any Word FILE on the computer and compile the report that way.

Even better if this works for MAC.

I need a good FREE media Player that will play all my file types and also Audio CDs and Video CDs and DVDs.

So I had VLC and it worked then it started to skip and when I used it to open Video Signals coming in through Firewire it would start to atced up and stop doing this.

So I got the new verson and it would work great but after a fue weeks it did the same thing so I got rid oif it.

I then got BS Player and found out that the FRE verson WONT play DVDs or open Firewire signales coming into the COMPUTER so I got rid of it to.

I tryed GOM Player but it would not play my DVDs and when I used it to find the CODECs for it it got the codec and installed it and did not work. So I got rid of it to.

So then I tryed Windows Media Player Clasic Home K LITE Pack. and it worked. Then it would start to tell me some pins were missing from Files and would not play them at all. So I got rid of it to.

Is there another Player that is free I could try??there's winamp. there's realplayer, KM Player, you can try windows media player (install the klite codec pack but don't install the media player classic)

if some pins were missing, I think it's probably that the encoding was not properly done. At least, when I tried encoding/converting a video and I stopped halfway, the files may well have it was not PLAYABLE and pins were missing or what not. Or VLC...or GOM...I just joined the kM Player forum page.

I purchased WINDOWS 7 Ultimate OEM version. I was unaware when I bought it that it was for builders.
Now I have it and would like to INSTALL.
I put a new hard drive in my computer and I reformatted it with HP system recovery discs.
HP told me that the W 7 discs will not install (ever) because it will not match the mother board. They also told me it is illegal.
However, I know they like to keep us buying everything we need from them at inflated prices.
Is there a way to install The OEM version on my computer with out changing the mother board.

Look, it is possible to install the OEM version of an OS even if its manufacturer is different. I personally own a OEM Licence.

Its not illegal if you have paid for the licence. OEM Licences can be installed on "n" no. of computer, where "n" is a variable.

The biggest benefit to doing it your way is that the system partition would be relatively small and backups (or images) would be quicker and smaller. It IS, however, a good idea to KEEP data on different PARTITIONS from the OS. The advantage to this is if there is ever a problem with the OS and you need to reformat the system partition, the data will be safe. It also makes it easier to backup data on a regular basis.first of all thank U keep smiling...

After using XP Pro for several years, I got a message that I needed to "Activate" the Opertating System. No problem doing that. I now have a problem with the "Start Up". The screen stalls at the start up, and dosen't move past. When trying to use the "SAFE Mode", all I get is a list of drivers. When I use F8, and try the "Last Good Start Date", the window again stalls. He and his buddies installed it on four PCs at a 'network' party and they went online to play network games.

One of the games required new ActiveX or DirectX drivers from Microsoft.

First of all may I apologize if I`m going over old ground but I need help with regard to LOADING xp pro onto a vista machine, in fact its an acer aspire 5735 laptop which came pre loaded with Vista home. I will attempt to be as clear as I can with my limited knowledge on the subject.

1. The laptop hard drive has been formatted. I have a generic xp pro disc which I have tried to use to load xp onto the laptop but get so far then the dreaded blue screen appears. I have looked on the internet for a solution and I believe that its to do with certain drivers and that it can be possible to use an xp disc that contains sp2. Unfortunately my xp disc does not contain sp2 so rendering it useless for the task in hand.
I have researched and found out about slip streaming a copy of xpsp2 into an xp operating SYSTEM then burning this onto a disc which will do the job. Am I correct??? .
I have, following instructions on the internet, GOT to the stage where I need to burn the disc but I have no burning software that will allow me to burn a bootable disc that is VERY simple to use and follow. I would be grateful if there is someone who could suggest perhaps free software or reasonably priced software that an idiot like me could follow to complete the task as far as making a bootable disc that will allow me to load windows xp pro onto the laptop.

2. If I am unable to get any further as far as the above is concerned would it be possible to load xp pro and sp2 onto another hard dive in an external enclosure on another computer then connect that hard drive to the laptop via a usb port and change the boot sequence in the bios so that the laptop boots from that copy of xp and then copy the entire disc to the laptop hard drive??? if so, will the laptop boot from that xp operating system copied to the laptop hard drive???

If none of the above are possible. Any suggestions???

I have tried to boot the laptop using the PROCEDURE in 1 of my original post but although I can get the laptop to START to boot from the external hard drive it will only get as far as the white bar across the bottom of the screen which travels so far then stops. Why is this??? and why does it not continue to go through the boot process???

I would do a system restore to a point where everything worked.
Get there from
Start/programs/acc/system tools/system restore.
Also let us know what ISP you have and maybe someone can talk to through to setup if they have the same thing.

I USE Personal Ancestral File to research my family History (Because it is free! ) I much PREFER the older PAF 3 to PAF 5 the latest windows based one. I think I am correct in saying that PAF 3 is DOS based, although I can get into it from Windows.
My computer keyboard is set up for and writes in English (British).
Now I prefer PAF 3 and use it on my laptop (Not used on line) but in Personal Ancestral File 3 it types in English (American). Any ideas how to get it to change to British in PAF 3 please?
The keyboard is set to "English (British)" and writes in that in Wordpad and Notepad. It is only in PAF 3 that it goes to American. i.e. keys for @ and " are reversed for EXAMPLE. I wondered if it was something to do with it being a DOS based program and if I can do anything about it? I have read through the users manual for PAF 3 but COULD not see anything relevant to this problem.

i have never been on a computer that blue screens like my new build, it worked fine when i had 32 bit on it but with 64 bit it will constantly not boot up all the way or boot up and crash instantly. ALSO i think the problem might be ati display driver because i removed it and it seemed ok but then installed it shortly after. Another thing that i dont understand is it is only when it is a "cold" boot that it acts up if it turns on and works fine and i reboot it within a minute or so it works fine... if there was a way i could get my past bsods im not familiar with windows 7 quite yet.And the blue screen error is........?im not sure because it pops up and shuts right off i have seen 1a and other ones and it seems to switch every time?? Hi, I'm new here so have no idea if this post is in the right place or not so please forgive me if it isn't.

I've recently (about 3-4 weeks ago) got my comp back on the net after a year of it gathering dust and as you would expect it needed LOADS of updates.

One of the updates that was needed was to the adobe flash player. I did have adobe 9 which was fine but there was one website that said I needed to upgrade to adobe 10 (not knowing much about computers and taking into account how long I've been off the net this all rang true) so I downloaded v10 from the website.

All was fine untill I tried to go full screen and all I got was a white blank screen! I still had sound but no picture. Thinking it may have been a bad download from the site itself (which I've been told does happen) I went into the add/remove programs and unistalled adobe flash, went to download.com (which was suggested by a FRIEND) and again installed adobe flash player v10 and again had the same problem

Like I said this has been going on now for 3-4 weeks and it's REALLY starting to do my nut

For EXAMPLE - youtube - I go on there and I can watch the vids in the normal small screen fine (there may be a sync problem with some vids but I've been told I can solve that). As soon as I click on the icon to put the vid in full screen all I'm getting is a blank white screen.

This is happening on every website I try to watch things in full screen.

Windows media player is working fine and I can watch things in full screen on that all day long. I have tried to get a download of v9 as that seemed to work o.k but I can't seem to find anywhere that has it.

I have been researching family HISTORY and using the FREE family history/tree program from the link below. (I have no connection with LDS apart from using this free program) The problem is that I cannot get the search facility to work, so WONDERED if anyone here can spot whatever I am doing wrong?

I have previously used PAF (Personal Ancestral File) 3 on another computer and now have it installed in a laptop with WIN 98 and it works fine and I enjoy using it. (Laptop is off line only)
I have PAF5 (the LATEST edition) on my main Windows 7 Premium Home Edition computer and find it less fun to use! (Less fun to use PAF 5 Not windows 7!)This may well be down to me, but in PAF 3 the Search command in the program works fine and will bring up at least the surname I enter. I can't get PAF 5 to bring up anything, it just leaves the INDIVIDUAL panel as it was!
Any helpful suggestions please?

Just to add that PAF 3 was DOS based and PAF5 is a Windows program.

Ran a search for Windows Live Mail Rules, didn't get any hits. Does anyone KNOW of a down-loadable SET of mail rules? I've been creating a bunch of rules but it SEEMS easier to be able to download a set of mail rules and import them. Any ideas on how this could be done? I'd be WILLING to share a set of mail rules when my stash gets big ENOUGH to be of practical use in fighting SPAM.

Alright, so, I used FRAPS to record some of my screwing around in Grand Theft AUTO: IV, the clips are all under 30s because it's the free version, however, they eat up as much as 80MB for a mere 11s, making uploading it to my photobucket impossible.

So, the question is, does anyone know of any software which, is free that I can use to downsize these video files to a more reasonable size?

Sometimes CD & DVD images have a .img extension too. You usually burn them to disc or open using programs such as DaemonToolsactually it's a excel VERSION 2.1 rar file. with 3.04 MB
and when I extract it, inside the EXTRACTED folder are .img files

I have a Dell computer with Windows XP. My problem is as follows:
I have been trying to use Skype to make calls to landlines and cell phones. When I do so the call goes through, but the other person cannot hear me - usually not at all, but sometimes a MUFFLED word comes through. I have tried two different microphones (one a USB, the other separate cables) and they both have the same problem. I have also tried these same microphones with my account on a different computer and it works fine. There is no problem making computer-to-computer calls, only calls to or from landlines and cell phones. I have tried removing Skype and reloading it, but that didn't help. I have been in contact with Skype online help and they have no idea why it won't work. HELP!!! Any suggestions?

I don't know whether satellite would affect this. Does Skype have a mic calibration feature?

For some reason, IPCONFIG command doesn't work. I tried GOING in system32 and opening ipconfig.exe. It opens and closes almost IMMEDIATELY. I really need to change my IP for certain reasons such as my friend finding out my ip, which makes me uncomfortable.

I am looking for an address program similar to the one in Quick BOOKS where you can sort your names and addresses into "types". I really don't want to spend $200 for Quick Books just for their address program. I have Quick Books Pro 2008, however, it will not WORK on my Windows 7, 64 bit system. I have thousands of names that fall into various categories (types) so a program that just prints out labels and doesn't allow you to selectively print by type wouldn't be quite what I need. Spending $20 to $50 for such a program is fine, I just don't want to pay for everything that Quick Books offers when all I need is one part of the program. If you have access to a Mac with iWorks, SUPPOSEDLY it will open old ClarisWorks files. Then you can save it into something that can be read by a Windows program.

there SEEM to be three (at least) characters- a small letter Rho, a capital letter rho, and the symbol. It is the symbol you are trying to create.

according to character map, it's U+03F1. You can find it by using character map, I was able to use the "search" feature to search for "Rho"- the character in question was one of the results.
