WOOOOOOOOOW awesome
wow this is one kool thing that i've READ in a looooooooong time.Which leaves no doubt that the Spanish teacher was a woman. The Computer is OBVIOUSLY female:

1. It has little memory of previous actions; tries the same thing over and over again even if it doesn't work.

2. Connects to a large network of other computers where they chat all day long in packet-speak.

3 You can play games with it, but you may need to buy it some new toys first. (GPU, RAM, etc.)

Solve : what will happen if google suddently die??

Answer»

what's your opinion?i know they won't, but what IF???
The Internet would crash and burn, leaving humankind lost in eternal darkness...
Or maybe we would just start using another search engine.there is more than just google out there, eg ADOL, yahoo, askjeeves etc. incidentaly, google helped build askjeeves...
but it would certainly annoy a few BILLION google usersI use monstercrawler as often as I do Google.

http://www.monstercrawler.com/Forum traffic would quadruple...
And for those that don't know what that word is, click here:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=define%3A+quadruple&btnG=Google+Search

We would loose a couple of words from our vocabulary. The Internet DELETE button would be handed to MICROSOFT, I'm sure. I guess I'm the only one concerned with making the funeral arrangements...The internet will die, and Microsoft will just build another empire over it!

Oy... what a horrific prank. cruel... absolutely cruel

Where is the original image? That entire thread made my day.
Chortles. With friends like that, he doesn't need any enemies.Heh. I've heard of people doing this but I think it's more than likely SOMEONE pulling the legs of the members on that forum. Think about how difficult it would be to cut a circuit board. Even if he didn't cut the circuit board and just the metal support bracket that would be pretty hard to cut.I read the entire thread, but due to high bandwidth usage the original image the OP linked to was removed from imageshack...

Honestly...you'd have to be really gullable..and a little ignorant to attempt that...

CH Admin...

I'd also like to know what was used to chop the card...it would have to be pretty close along the lines of a bolt cutter...or a hacksaw...

BTW...someone should tell the guy this:

"Remember...send us $50,000.00 and a NEW Rolls Royce...and we'll send you your statement in 25 words or less..."

Think it'd WORK???Probably a large papercutter

To show how serious i am about some of these members being complete fools ...ive decided to go.. i couldn't care less who was wanting this , im doing this because these forums are turning into play grounds , and Nathan apologies for making things a tad worse , but im fighting a loosening battle ... and this isn't a sympathy vote... i wont reply , Reason: Look under my name .....

Chris - chat to you on Aim

Calum- chat to you on msn

Josh-talk to you on msn

Robert- you a crazy a guy , nice knowing you though .... GREAT man

Steve - You are a extremely nice guy on the phone , work on your people skills online

Dilbert- You are the bees knees , i have a really good feeling you will go onto to do great things buddy.

Contrex- Nice speaking to you , shame we didn't speak more.

Beanhead- see you on the field

Patio- believe it or not i was trying to follow in your foot STEPS , i really do look up to you .....

There are more .... but for some stupid reason this is fairly hard so i wont blab on ....

but im fighting a loosening battle ...

You ain't fighting any kind of battle, you're running away. You might have made a difference if you'd stayed around and tried to change what you don't like. Here's hoping you don't do a runner when things get a bit tough in your PRIVATE life.

Good luck to you and yours..

Tony...

Thanks for telling me I need to work on my online people skills...I'll do that.

It'll just depend on who I'm talking to and how they respond...

Some may think I'm a stick in the mud, but it's their opinion and everyone's entitled...know what I mean?

I left CH a couple of times...proabably drove Nathan up a wall...but Administrators have to deal with those types of issues...and I was one of them.

I came back...with this on my mind...I think I can truly make a difference when it comes to helping those looking for help. That's what I want to do...my choice...no one elses.

I'm not here to make friends...if I do along the way...it's a plus. If not...no skin off my teeth...

You're probably going to see posts here from people who really don't know you...making comments that may be a little UPSETTING...I guess that's just the nature of the beast. Don't let it get to you...

I could make some comments, but it really wouldn't be my place to...so, I'll just leave it at that.

Whatever it was that made you make the decision you made...need not be anyone else's business but your own. I need not say anything else on that subject...

When you first started...we butted heads...but we made it past that. I can honestly say this...you have improved so much and your skills improve with every post you make...Nice JOB!

Just remember this...if you're really interested in using what you've learned to better yourself and/or help others...then do it.

Stick to your guns and never conform to anything outside what you think is right...even if it's wrong...we all learn by our mistakes. I know I have.

All the best to you, Tony...and I hope your future in computers is a prosperous one!Richenstony,I am really sorry about this one.

Wow!You were one of the better people we
had here.

Anyway, wish you the best, and welcome back
here anytime friend.

Robertcya tony.. i'll miss your short temper and bouncy sort of happiness I'm sorry it's come to this, Tony. Unfortunately, not everyone can get along and it can sometimes lead to tempers flaring. I personally don't think it's worth leaving over, but if that's what you decide to choose, then so be it. If things change, maybe we'll see you back around here soon. Either way, I'll still be in contact with you.Have fun Tony,

Solve : Jokes that came round the office?

What's the definition of the bravest man in the world??
The man who comes HOME drunk, covered in lipstick and smelling of perfume,
Then slaps his wife on the backside and says: "You're next, fatty."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Man walks into the bedroom with a sheep under his arm while his wife is
lying in BED reading.
Man says: "This is the pig I have sex with when you've got a headache."
Wife replies: "I think you'll find that is a sheep."
Man replies: "I think you'll find I was talking to the sheep"
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
A man walks into his bedroom and sees his wife packing a suitcase.
He asks, "What are you doing?"
She answers, "I'm moving to London . I heard prostitutes there get paid £400
for doing what I do for you for free."
LATER that night, on her way out, the wife walks into the bedroom and sees her husband packing his suitcase.
When she asks him where he's going, he replies, "I'm coming too I want to see how you live on £800 a year".
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
A woman was shopping at her local supermarket where she selected: 2
litres of low fat milk, a carton of eggs, 2 litres of orange juice, a head of lettuce, half a dozen tomatoes, a 500g jar of coffee, a 250g pack of bacon
As she was unloading her items on the conveyor belt to check out, a
drunk standing behind her watched as she placed the items in front of the cashier.
While the cashier was ringing up her purchases, the drunk calmly stated,"You
MUST be single."
The woman was a bit startled by this proclamation, but she was intrigued by the derelict's intuition, since she was indeed single. She looked at her six items on the belt and saw nothing particularly unusual about her selections that could have tipped off the Drunk to her marital status.

Curiosity getting the better of her, she said, "Well, you know what, you're absolutely correct. But how on earth did you know that?"

The drunk replied, "Cos you're ugly."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ed was in trouble. He forgot his wedding anniversary.

His wife was really upset. She TOLD him "Tomorrow morning I expect to find a gift in the driveway that goes from 0 to 200 in 6 seconds AND IT HAD BETTER BE THERE."

The next morning Ed got up early and left for work. When his wife woke up, she looked out of the window and sure enough there was a small box gift-wrapped in the middle of the driveway.

Confused, she put on her robe, ran out on to the driveway and picked up the box.

She opened it and found a brand new bathroom scale.

Funeral services for Ed have been scheduled for Friday.

It snows at my place too but thats a 4 hours drive away fro my home (on the mountains), As a child even i was used to heavy snow fall but at the place i live now it never snows and rains a lot , DUSTY winds , i like the rain but i hate the winds(Dusty Winds )What really surprised us when we moved to Oregon was the lack of thunderstorms. I was born in the midwest too, and boy did we have some boomers! I really do like the lack of snow there as well.
Coos Bay is pretty cool, but my favorite place is either Cannon Beach or Hug Point, a bit closer to home. When I get really homesick I get out my copy of The Goonies and watch that.

I'm SURE any World of WARCRAFT player will drool over these pictures. Looks fun.

http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/gxm/products/th2go/gaming/wow.phpI've got one of those sitting in a drawer.
They're actually pretty cool. If your video card has dual output already, you can have four screens.
If you buy one, make sure that you have one of the cards on the compatibility list and not an UPGRADED version of any of the cards. I got an ATI FireMV 2250 to use with the TH2G because the 2200 was on the list, but the 2250 had something different about it so that I couldn't use it. Ended up buying a 2200.

The th2g is actually very easy to use and set up.

Solve : Chat Rant?

I was in Messenger this morning because my Grandmother decided that we HAD to fix her printer this WAY. I don't really like diagnosing computer problems over Messenger, especially because I don't like Messenger at all, but I agreed.

Bad idea.

First of all, printers aren't my specialty. I'm not an expert by any means. I can hold my own, but I get uncomfortable doing so. However, I can't just drive down to Salem at the moment; I'm low on gas and need money to that effect. So began the arduous process of fixing the printer that "just worked fine this morning". Took me 30 minutes to figure out something that would have taken me SECONDS in person: The power cable is always coming loose and falling out (how, I have no idea), and because of that, the computer magically couldn't detect any peripherals.

I've decided that diagnosing computer problems via Messenger is like diagnosing brain cancer with a pointy stick.I am unranted at the moment.Strange ain't it ?

Have you looked at new cables?

That's why XP comes with Remote Assistance. It uses Messenger, but, basically all you have to do is login to their computer and start working with it.

Solve : Microsoft Vista Speech Recognition Tested - Perl Scripting?

Answer» OHH this was funny.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KyLqUf4cdwcNow, I have watched this video before, and honestly, TRYING to get a computer to recognize (by voice) programming "codes" just doesn't work, since a majority of it does not follow standard English grammar (or standard wording, either)

(Note to users: Video contains the F word, I think once...) I loved it. I have tryed that voice thing before, and it is so hard!!!I think its great. It takes working with though. You can go through training SESSIONS with the Speech program, to make it recognize your voice. If its worth it to you, its worth the time and effort (it doesn't take long at all). With Vista, you can just use the Word Correction so it will figure out your voice.

Eg:
(> representing your voice, >> Representing the response)
>Dear Mom,
I am doing well. Thanks for the gift you sent me.
>> Dear Mom,
I am doing gill. Thanks for the gift you sent me.
>Correct gill
>> Replace with:
(say the number, and then say OK)
1. Gift
2. Gills
3. Git
> 1, okay
>> Dear Mom,
I am doing well. Thanks for the gift you sent me. (

By you changing the corrections, it recognizes what it did wrong. If you said it wrong yourself, and you correct it, it will not cause problems with the speech engine.

All woman rest their hopes on your young shoulders

Hah, I'm just the type who was raised with some less common morals, less common these days ANYWAY, IE, a guy THROWING something like a monitor at a woman who did nothing is just cause too leave that guy in a comma by whatever blunt object is laying nearby.I was only playing Dead_Reckon and its really nice to know that you think that way, seriously , though its really not common these days but I guess a few well mannered people still exist.

I know, I'm just saying, and yeah, few people with any manners seem too exist these days, or common sense for that matter.. Which may explain the lack of manners. Now, I said before that I wasn't a tough guy, but at the age of most of those people in the video, I could've (and would've) easily STEPPED in. Even now, at my more advanced age, in I would step, and worry the aches and pains later.

It isn't only the cubicles -- it's how our societies have become so litigious over the slightest things...I think people hold back because of fear they'll wind up in court -- and for what? Trying to help.

The irony of common sense and manners is that I am more often surprised by receiving or experiencing them with younger people, and by how often I don't experience the same with people "my" age, for whom it's easier to think should know BETTER.

Starstarstar. There are 3,603,382 people in the U.S. with the first name David.

There are 0 people in the U.S. with the last name ....

I found this on this FAQ page:

Q: Why isn't my name on the list?
The list of names from the census bureau isn't complete. For PRIVACY reasons, names with relatively few responses were not included in the list. We used this data to create this site. Our site can only be as good as the data we have to work with.

* Around 1 out of every 10 people will have a last name not on the list.
* Around 1 out of every 10 people will have a first name not on the list.

Using the same statistical fallacy this site is known for, that means about 81% of people will have both names on the list. In a mathematical COUP our scientists have determined from this information that about 19% of people will have EITHER one or both names missing from the list.

1 out of every 10 seems like a lot.Quote

Solve : PS3 Costs $247 Per Year to Run?

Answer» http://blog.wired.com/gadgets/2008/06/ps3-costs-247-p.html

Aussie consumer agency CHOICE has put together a STUDY of the power consumption of everyday household appliances and, surprise surprise, the leaf blower that is the PS3 COMES out at the bottom of the league. Sony's console burns through 31.74 kWh per week when idling, which is five times the energy used by a REFRIGERATOR, and ten times the juice sipped by the Wii.

To be fair, a fridge is left on 24/7, whereas a console tends to be switched into standby mode a lot of the time. Those lazy readers who need a little prodding should take note of the costs of leaving their PlayStation running: over a year, it adds up to US$237. Compared to this, the MacBook Pro -- not usually known for running cool -- looks as thirsty as a desert cactus, a using only 3.66 kWh per week; almost one tenth the appetite of the PS3.

So, switching off between sessions could save enough cash to actually buy a Wii. Alternatively, you could put the hot PS3 inside the cold refrigerator and watch as your energy costs spiral out of control, laughing as the ozone layer burns away over your head and the melting ice caps bring the beach to your doorstep. You choose. This is insane! Here I was trying to help the CH folding team by running the PS3 [emailprotected] application. I don't think this kind of money though is worth leaving it on.I don't like PlayStation......That's all I have to say.

Solve : If you're over 36, you may be a sex offender?

Answer» HERE

UK-based social networking site Faceparty has in recent weeks DELETED the accounts of most of its users over the age of 36. On a notice, Missing Account?, published on the site, the owners claim that UK government legislation requires them to check older users against individuals entered on the sex offenders list.

More specifically, Faceparty state “this legislation is based upon checking email addresses against a government provided list. Faceparty has never insisted on validated email addresses and can therefore not participate in this new scheme.” Let’s leave aside for now the fact that the CRIMINAL Justice and Immigration Act, the bill that includes the provisions detailed by Faceparty here, is not yet law in the UK. Let’s also ignore the absurdity in setting the age of 36, above which Faceparty believe - in the absence of any law, or known evidence, or referenced peer-reviewed research - users are more likely to be sex offenders. Consider instead:

1. Faceparty does not validate email addresses, CONTRARY to the single best practice for social networking sites. Since sex offenders could have lied about their email address, no decision based on email addresses could be taken.
2. It is highly unlikely that Faceparty verified the given age of their users. Of course, sex offenders would not have lied about their age, even if they did lie about their email address, and so a decision based on age is a perfectly valid ONE to take.

Do you notice the delightful irony and sheer inconsistency inherent in the two bullets above?

So why then the deletion of user accounts for those over 36? Is it, despite the protestations of Faceparty, all part of a plan to return to a younger and more ‘edgy’ user base? Is it that, as they said in their ‘Missing Account?’ notice, there was a serious problem with sex offenders and pedophiles attacking younger users? Or could it be instead that, as reported on New Media Image (a UK publication, for which a subscription is required,) earlier in April Faceparty downsized from 18 employees to just 4; removed all advertising from the site; and experienced a change in ownership (being sold by CIS Internet Ltd back to the original owners, Anarchy Towers)? None of these are illegal, of course, and we’re not suggesting any unlawful behaviour on the part of either party. But there are many inconsistencies in the reasons given by Faceparty for the account deletions.

The foul language on Faceparty, on site owner-provided content, as WELL as user content, may herald a new target user base. Grim Rita may just be an archetypal chav.

In conclusion, we can’t put it any better than a spokeswoman for the UK government-backed Child Exploitation Online Protection Centre, who said “it’s pretty easy to lie about your age. One of the things we’d like to see all sites do is adopt a Report Abuse mechanism. We think social networking sites are fantastic but providers have a duty of care to children. Children should be able to use these environments but make it easy for them to report abuse.”

We at The Internet Patrol like to think that responsible parents are also watching what their children access on the Internet. (We like to think that, but of course cases like this one make us realize just how Pollyanic a thought that is.) Then I guess, according to them, I really AM abnormal.....I'm over 36, and NOT a sex offender. Does this mean my non pc'ism (as in politically correct) takes me further out of step, with this one?
