Solve : HTML Form, Signing in! *Help needed!*? |
|
Answer» I need something that will allow me to insert as much information as I want. It can be javascirpt. JavaScript won't be able to do what you want. Actually Javascript can do that, but the users will have to be added manually by the webmaster, what I did back in grade school was, create a user registration form that sent me an email of the users details, then I implemented them into my Javascript coding. But YEAH you are right if you want automated user authentication you'll need a server side scripting language such as those listed above PHP, ASP, and you could also try Perl which I'm quite fond of, but there is many others you could also try.Okay can someone give me the code, and tell me what I need to name my page? For example (name.)Have a LOOK > here <, as I have answered this previously... |

Solve : free web hosting? |

Answer» hi friends,
No, that won't work then. For JSP and a database you will need a payed-for host.Quote from: san_crazy on September 12, 2008, 06:41:33 AM
I haven't tried any of these, but came up in a search.... They should meet your requirements. http://www.revion.com/ http://www.smedia.info/ Here you will find a list of the top hosts available: http://www.webhostzone.com/Quote from: kpac on September 12, 2008, 06:46:27 AM I'm not sure what the problem is, and yes I have registered there before. ok...the problem still exist but in case it would be solved anyway what else will I need to do to complete the process?Process? You mean registering with 110mb? Once you click on the link in the email they send you, everything will be done. Just upload your website using the file manager. But do you still want to use JSP and Oracle? Then... Quote from: kpac on September 12, 2008, 06:46:27 AM For JSP and a database you will need a payed-for host.no I am not gonna use it. by the way if we put database aside, why jsp is not hosted free while this is not the case with ASP technology? any such problem with Tomcat?I'm not sure about that one. PHP is hosted free because it's an open source technology - it's free.Hi. I couldn't sign up for 110mb.com either, and I use axspace.com to host my website. check it out (it's obfuscated code and has a 8rf.com redirect) Blueoranges.8rf.com It used to be a gaming website for my friends and I before I graduated from High School, but now it's mostly for web programming practice. Axspace has 100mb limit on webspace, but it is quite fast. I also used to use Runhost.net and I am considering switching back (More space to host Flash FILES.) I had left initially because they had crashed. They are working now I believe. EDIT: Actually, I tried to move my website to Runhost again right now, and apparently they still aren't working. Jeez, rather slow, they crashed over a month ago. I don't recommend them for the time being... EDIT AGAIN: Oops, forgot you can get 200mb space with axspace if you sign up for their website directory. Silly me. Should have thought of that before I deleted my RPGs SECTION, haha. ~ BaRRHi all, I think this information can be useful for you. If you plan to get your website, here is one good free web hosting provider to choose - 000webhost.com They provide hosting absolutely free, there is no catch. Solve : PHP & MYSQL? |

Answer» I have a lot of spam coming on my php and mySQL Board and Chat Forum - posting OBSCENITY and all - How can I block them out? I need help please. What forum and chat room is it? SMF? phpBB? vBulletin?phpBBHow does registration on your forum work? Are new registrations automatically activated or are they held in suspence until you complete the process? How does registration on your forum work? Are new registrations automatically activated or are they held in suspence until you complete the process? ? Quote from: watersprings77 on October 05, 2008, 12:54:16 PM No. Kindly put me through that please. Have a look here: http://www.phpbb.com/support/documentation/kpac, I'm an administrator for a phpBB forum. When I first started doing this, spammers would REGISTER and post unwanted stuff in the forum; registration was automatically activated, without any intervention from me. Or, if my facts are not correct here because I've forgotten some details, at least they could register and post a porn website in their initial profile setup - you know, the box where you can enter a website - and that was visible to anyone who clicked on their username. This is a church website and that was absolutely UNACCEPTABLE. I visited phpBB's website and found a modifcation which put a stop to this. Now, registrants see a screen that tells them to only fill in certain boxes, that the other boxes can be completed once registration is approved, and, if they ignore this, their registration will completely fail (I'll never even see it). I'm sure the version of phpBB on the site for which I'm an admin is not latest version. kpac, you're an admin on a phpBB forum, aren't you? How does your registration procedure work?Quote from: watersprings77 on October 05, 2008, 12:54:16 PM No. Kindly put me through that please. In your phpBB admin panel, you have a section titled "User Admin", right? You need to get familiar the features there. That's where you can IMPLEMENT some restrictions and delete users.Quote from: soybean on October 06, 2008, 02:11:24 PM kpac, you're an admin on a phpBB forum, aren't you? How does your registration procedure work? No, it's SMF, like this forum, but I am the admin. You can choose whether members have to activate their account, if an admin has to approve of it, immediate registration, or just don't let anyone join! You can also choose the complexity of the visual verification image, and the required strength for the member's password. |

But I hate to try an code it in java myself. This will help you, I'm not sure how to do the whole thing. I dont understand your code. You mightn't understand it, but it should work.Quote from: squall_01 on September 21, 2008, 06:59:37 AM How would I code a change to an image in html? People, SQUALLY wants it in CLIENT SIDE script, PHP is server side. I doubt that he's running a server. now, with that out of the way- he also wants to change an image. Now, this can't be done in HTML, but it can be done in Javascript. I don't have a good recollection, so anything I write here wouldn't work. Solve : How to retrieving table data?? |
||
|
Answer» Hi, i have an html table that displays some data. When a USER hovers over each cell, the cell is highlighted(using onmoveover function)I need to have the ablilty for the user to then click on a ROW, and then i need to obtain the data from that row.
the aim is to be able to pass XXXX and YYYY in the table row to the javascript function for processing. Before I can write a script, I'll need to know what you mean by "processing". Passing values the a script is easy, I just need to know what to do with it! To get the value of XXXX and YYYY, add ad ID to each , like: <td width="490" valign="top" id="XXXX">XXXX</td><td id="YYYY">YYYY</td> And then add this to your script: var x = document.getElementById('XXXX').innerHTML; var y = document.getElementById('YYYY').innerHTML; Hi, again thanks for taking the time to reply. Once the data is passed to the script, it then calls a servlet, which will then use that data to QUERY a Database. Actually the data that populates the table to start with, comes from a database, so the table is populated as FOLLOWS, using a for loop(where pFiles and pMessages are arrays fed in from a servlet, the size of which can change): ... <% out.println(""); for(int i = 0; i < pFiles.length; i++){ out.println(""+pFiles+"</td><td>"+pmessage+"</td>" } out.println("</table>"); %> ...</body> Now my aim is to get the data in the row once the user clicks in a row, Are you saying: 1) that i could use an id in each td, so i should do the following(extracting just the td bit from above): <td id=\"pFiles\" >"+pFiles+"</td> 2)But then as the id will change dynamically, how can i use the document.getElementbyId() function? Or what should be the parameter passing into the document.getElementById() ? Again thanks for taking the time to reply. I really haven't a clue about ASP, if that what your writing in, but my JS skills aren't too bad. Quote from: vks on January 06, 2009, 03:26:32 AM Are you saying: You could assign the table with an ASP variable (not sure how to do it though), and then use the same variable in the JavaScript.i'm writing it in HTML with a bit of javascript. No asp stuff, i havent a clue about that either. But this problem is my wall, the last bit of my project i need to overcome.Quote from: vks on January 06, 2009, 10:15:36 AM No asp stuff, i havent a clue about that either. Are you sure? This code is ASP, isn't it? Quote from: vks on January 06, 2009, 03:26:32 AM Code: [Select]<body>... What language are you using to connect to the database?no, its not, i'm positive..actually anything withing the <% %> tags is java. And my file is saved as a jsp file. But would you how to go about getting the row data? maybe i could try an implement a solution similar to yours. using java to connect to the dbOh, sorry but I don't know Java. PHP is my language. |

Solve : Print friendly page? |
|
Answer» If I build a page using CSS and XHTML, will it suffice to SIMPLY assign 210 mm to the width and 297 mm to the length to make print friendly or would that cause compatibility problems with some browsers? According to this Wikepedia page on Comparison of web browsers, IE and Firefox accounted for a little over 93% of market share in March 2007. The only other browser with significant market share was Safari. So, if you could test your PAGES on those three browsers, you will have covered about 97.5% of users. |

Solve : wrapable tags (CSS related)? |
|
Answer» Hey, I've been working with and tags and am a LITTLE upset by the fact that these tags don't WRAP to the text inside them. What I mean by that is that if I were to apply CSS elements like border or background color to a p or div TAG, the border or bg color will stretch across the entire page instead of just ending where the text inside them ENDS. HOWEVER, I have noticed that all my A HREF tags do, in fact, wrap around there text (which is a very convenient) when CSS styles are applied, and I was wondering if there were any other HTML tags that contain this useful feature as well. |

Answer» Okay, so... without purchasing a domain and server space, i need to find a place to host a small .swf FILE for a flash music file. I am on freewebs but when i put the code into a MYSPACE profile, it doesn't work. Have you experimented with settings in the software which allow you to specifiy settings that affect the file size of the final product? A freeware called SC Audio Converter. There is not much in the way of settigs. I just assumed by everything that I read that a .MP3 file would be smaller than a .WAV file w/o losing quality. After all, they don't make .WAV CDs. Is there a way to make my files smaller w/o losing quality. These are only Voice no music.Your assumption is incorrect. There are a few variables that determine the size of your MP3 file. 1: Length of track. 2: Sample rate (project rate, bit rate) whatever your program calls it. The first is obvious, the second deals with the compression rate that the MP3 is created with. The rate DIRECTLY affects the quality of sound, and size of file. To adjust the size of the file I would suggest doing three things. 1: Trim the track down some. Get rid of the long periods of nothing that eat up the track time. Super long pauses, lead in time, lead out time (don't remember if that is correct term), and spots that don't make any sense or blunders. I personally use a program called Audacity. It is free and very powerful. Please refer to their site for questions about the software. 2: Adjust the quality. When publishing the audio track you should have an option to change the bit rate of the file. It goes something like this: 128,000Hz 96,000Hz 48,000Hz 44,100Hz and lower, though I would not suggest it, once you start getting that low the quality gets really bad. Most people can not really tell the difference between 128 - 96 but there is a noticeable difference from 96 - 48. The higher the rate the better the quality and the larger your file becomes. 3: OFFER a choice. Sometimes due to web space issues this option is not really a good idea. If space is not an issue try publishing at a high quality like 128 and a lower quality like 48 and allow your visitors the ability to choose what quality of audio they want. I always show next to the file name the size of the file so they can see the difference, something like: Track One HQ [5.41MB] Track One LQ [3.56MB] You may have to play with the file a bit before you are happy with the results, but once you figure it out you just duplicate your settings for every file you publish. Hope this helps.projectplaylist.com offers awsome playlist only problem is they have a link to their own site but if you know simple html you can look for the <a href= commands and disable them, |

Solve : How to Hide your Source Code!? |
|
Answer» Hello, encryption is NOT obfuscation. converting text to the equivalent HTML character code (A etc...) is obfuscation. The same method used to create the ASCII equivalents can be used to reverse the process quite easily. Like I said, it is not cracker proof meaning anybody who knows how to convert Ascii back to the original HTML code that we as users can read, can easily steal and use the source code, There is no actual way to hide the source code of an HTML document. So if you have a better method of making the source code of an HTML document more read proof, because you obviously cannot hide it, than have at it. And believe it or not it's not foolishness, it does prevent the everyday web designer who has basic web designing skills from reading through the Ascii code and taking what they may want, plus there is a lot of people who out of pure laziness, don't even want to go through the process of converting Ascii back to HTML text. Like I said, I also use my own method of encryption through a combination of Javascript and Ascii. There is no fool-proof way to hide the source code though, so if you think you have a better solution than please do tell . I've seen it used effectively. It could easily be applied at most sites with no worries. Another method is to place most Source code within separate JS and VBS files, placed in a separate folder. (or anywhere, really). while the browser downloads the scripts along with all the rest of it, it can be more difficult to search through a cache for a temporary file when you only know the extension. I wasn't saying anything against your methods; I was merely saying that, as you said, there isn't a built-in way to do encryption up to and including page interpretation; the best we can do is make it difficult, which is usually enough. the question inevitably comes up as to wether it's worth it, and that depends wholly on the code being obfuscated. Another wholly different route would be to try to place all code possible on the server-side; permissions can be set to completely disallow access to the codeQuote from: BC_Programmer on December 29, 2008, 10:29:50 PM
Yes you are right about that, but don't forget that's not fool proof either, someone can easily read through the source code, find out what the names of the script files used on the web page, and open up their temporary internet files and view the source of the scripts that way as well. Plus you cannot encrypt the source code of the scripts when you save them seperately as their own file. I don't really think the poster wants to totally disallow access to the files using permissions on their web server, I'm pretty sure they want the files visible to a user when they pull up their site, I think that's why they asked if there was a way to hide the source code. But I still believe best way to do so, is to encrypt the source that way it makes it difficult for a web designer to pull what they want from the source code of the HTML document. That's just my opinion of course though .ChrisXPPro, can you edit your first post and split up those long lines that are causing a need for massive horizontal scrolling to read the posts in this thread?Wow - sorry about that - I guess I hadn't checked that out when I posted! I hate the horizontal scroll too - fixed it now. You could encrypt your sourcecode......... http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex9/encrypter.htm But it can be decrypted again... Let's face it, there is no actual way to hide the source code. Quote You can't. The browser needs the HTML to render the page and there is no way to disable the view source item in the menu. And no-right-click scripts are DISHONEST, show arrogance, and are worthless because a view source item is usually in the Edit menu, which does not need to be right-clicked. http://www.webdeveloper.com/forum/showthread.php?t=89947 http://www.programmingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=21985sure, it can be decrypted, but when someone looks at the source, they'll just close it and move on. Personally, I don't see why anyone would really want to hide their html source..... It's just a waste of time and it isn't even real programming. If you're doing something in your code that requires everything to be hidden, use server side scripting like php or aspx instead.Quote from: michaewlewis on January 02, 2009, 11:04:11 AM and it isn't even real programming. This is an important point. HTML is not a Programming language. It's a markup language. |
