Just curious - does ANYONE KNOW how to sync an MDA (T-Mobile Pocket-PC) with a PC VIA bluetooth? There is some COM port problem that I keep encountering. I can't establish a successful partnership between the two. What should be on the "incoming/outgoing" COM ports of the MDA?

Is anyone else having a similar problem?

Any SUGGESTIONS would be great!

Every time I insert a pic from my digi camera.. it works in my front page preview,.. but not when I publish them.. keeps comming up requested file exedes 256 kb. but I have had pics from it in the past.. is it my camera settings.?[img][img]How big are these pictures?

Most pictures coming from digital cameras are not 256KB or smaller. They usually range in the 1024KB, however that also depends on your settings.What type of website is this?  Do you really want photo files exceeding 256KB in your site?  Why not resize those photos for web?  If you really need to use photo files exceeding 256KB, you might try using FTP to upload instead of using FrontPage's publish function.

No. not ignoring you raptor.. sory. the images are 'jpeg' 339 KB (347,425 bytes)
and the host is netfirms.. nothing to do with my isp.

There you go, they need to be smaller than 256KB.

Hi. I am trying to create a website for my son. I created the site on geocities (yahoo). I tried to link my stylesheet (.css). It either is not linking or something is wrong with my stylesheet. CrystalI presume you created the web pages online via some a web browser interface with some KIND of Geocities html editor.  Is that right?  I'm not sure, but I'd guess CSS may not work with that, and that's all there is to it.  

If you want to use CSS in developing your website, you need to get a real website, i.e. www.mommyofash.com, develop your pages on your computer, and upload them to a web server, which most likely will not be free but can cost as little as a few DOLLARS a month.Well.. how then could I convert all the work I did on my css stylesheet back to html? I should have just done it that way in the first place. Sigh..

And, you have actually placed codes for some of the styles/fonts in your CSS file into your HTML files, right?  I don't see anything wrong with your coding to link to your CSS file.  If this isn't working, I'm still wondering whether it will work when creating web pages through an online web page creation tool such as the Geocities tool you're using.  I'd REALLY like to see someone who has worked with Geocities to chime in here.  My experience with CSS was using it with web pages created with Microsoft FrontPage.

Do you have FTP access to your web pages in Geocities?  Can you download them to your computer and work with them there for testing purposes?

How many pages do you have or plan on having in your site?  If a small number, pursuing this may not be worth the effort.  Just use the font options that the Geocities web creator provides.Why not just use HTML STYLE tags, and keep the stylesheet within the same page?

But I agree with the above comments.  Geocities sites are beset by tinkering on the part of Geocities; they are totally unsuitable for advanced web DESIGN, because of the amount of interference by the host.

There are better free web hosts out there.  Or you could pay for ONE...

I need to know how to screen shot video picture
Ok this is what i did: i have screen shot a video picture that i want to put on my website and i did the editing in paint but it seem that the screen shot that i have taken was LIKE a moving picture i dont know i cant explain it that well.
What happen is the picture that was screen shot was still moving like a video player in paint and i cant get a shot at all, if i move my screen shot and place it some where els it DOESNT work.

What program are you using to play the video?  Ordinary screen captures tend not to work with these programs; many of them have their own screen capture facility.  VLC MEDIA Player does, for example (it's in the software FAQ - follow my signature).I was trying to screen shot a video on WM10

We usually learn how to use Access to build a system with relational database, but how can we build a website that can interact with the system we've built? The question is something like this:

I need to collect data from the website I've created, so that when people enter any orders or questions through the e-forms, the data will be automatically transferred and stored in tables that I have created using Access. The whole database is stored in my computer and I also have a static IP address.

What things that I have to know and learn to build this kind of system? What books or any other references can I refer to in order to build my desired system?

Any Professional help will be so much appreciated.

Cheers!Well, for one thing, I'm sure you need to put the database on the web server, and that is confirmed by this reference: http://support.alentus.com/msaccess.aspx

Might be some more helpful sources in this search: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=using+Access+as+website+database&btnG=Google+SearchYou can serve the database from any database server, but the problem is your starting point.  MS Access is a good way of getting a simple database up and running, and it can help you to create a good front end, very easily, but as a back end, it is hopeless, especially for multi-user systems.

You would be better off migrating your data to a real database server like MySQL (free), PostgresSQL (free), Oracle (not free), Sybase (not free), etc.  You could install a MySQL server on your home PC for example, and your website could connect to it using PHP, ASP, etc, to pick up the data.

I can help with the MySQL + PHP side of things, if that's the way you choose to go.

Incidentally, Access can happily talk to MySQL databases, so you can keep your Access front end and just migrate the data to MySQL.Rob, just in case any forum readers not well versed in this stuff are wondering, I thought I'd ask a question or two.

Hello, I'm having a font problem on ADOBE Photoshop. When I ALWAYS type SOMETHING in to an image, my font is always upper case, even when I have Caps LOCK off. I dunno what it is, and it really annoys me. Can anyone help? At the top... Window>Character> Tt button

I need to KNOW how to change the color background on the website im building.  I want it to have five different colors.  Once the VIEWER selects one, I want it to change the color background for the entire site and save that color once they visit the site again.I think one way to do this is to actually have five complete versions of your website with links on the home page to choose background color.  Once the site visitor clicks on a link for a different background color, a home page with that background color would open and all links to  other pages from that page would have that background color.  To choose a different color, the visitor would go back to the original home page and make the selection there.

I don't know how you could just have one set of web pages and have the background color change throughout the site, and I know the above procedure would be quite cumbersome.  I would not want to do it.Look into Cascading Style Sheets(Click)I'm aware of CSS and it's definitely a cool technique, but it's generally applied to web pages by the website developer before uploading the pages to the web server, and a special CSS file must also be uploaded to the server.  But, I still have some doubt that he can UTILIZE CSS to do what he wants to do.  Maybe Rob Pomeroy knows the answer to this.Aye.  You can USE javascript to change a page's stylesheet.  In other words, click on something and a completely different set of colours, stylings etc. can be applied without reloading the page.  Just google for "javascript change stylesheet" for more on this.

I did this on a website recently, but I've deleted it, otherwise I would actually be less lazy, and post some code here.    It was one web site with three different CSS files, all in different colour schemes.  Load them as alternative stylesheets, then use the javascript DOM to swap them when you click on a button or whatever.

I have a table within a form using a repetition of the below code so that there are 5 columns each with 20 rows named 1-20 down the first column 21-40 down the 2nd column etc.  The user needs to enter choices 1-100 in the cells.  How do I make the TAB or soft enter key take the user to the NEXT cell down rather than the next cell across? I want the user to enter data in cell 1 then hit tab or soft enter and go to cell 2 etc, down the first column then up to the first cell in the second column etc.  

Also, does anyone have any advice on how to make a cell entry required?  I have a submit button at the bottom of the form and would like to display an error message to the user if certain fields are not filled in.

What do you mean by "make"?  Are you a programmer?  The only way I would create a forum is either by INSTALLING one provided by a web hosting service, or downloading the software from one of the popular forum software makers such as YaBB or phpBB.   Quote

This has been on my mind for some time. I have a domain and server hosted by Godaddy. I can connect to it with an FTP program fine, but I don't know a whole lot about FTP in general.

My question is how can you set it up so you have a separate log in and password for another person to access the server, but they are limited to a folder that you specify.

For example, say I CREATE a directory under my domain that ends up looking like this: sqthreer.com/stuff/friendspace

How can I make it so that a friend or someone has their own login information, but can't go to any root directory behind "friendspace?"

If I'm not making myself very clear or if this is in the wrong place (I wasn't exactly SURE where to put it, SORRY) then I'll try to explain it better.I do not believe that GoDaddy will provide this kind of control over FTP.  You would need to host your own FTP server, which you could do if you have a permanent internet connection (such as broadband) and a computer that you can leave switched on all the time.  There is a lot to learn though before you attempt that, because there are lots of potential pitfalls and security risks.Ah yeah, I was thinking it was something along those lines. Somebody told me something like that a while ago but I forgot. The thought only recently resurfaced in my brain.

Well maybe in the future I'll look into hosting my own server, but it's probably WAY too COMPLICATED for me at this point.

Just login to your account at godaddy.com and open the control panel  for your site. From here under settings there is a box called "manage ftp users"

You can add a username / password and starting directory for the user, and save. Make sure to start the user in the friendspace directory and they should not be able to access the root directory.

You can add up to 5 ftp users (at least with my godaddy.com account), I'm guessing it's the same for yours.

I'm super glad I came back to ask another question, otherwise I would never know this useful bit of info.

Okay well I've done a bit of research and cannot find a solution to this problem. I'm using Firefox 1.5.0.4, and I'm having troubles with refreshing my website's favicon. My website is here: http://www.sqthreer.com and my new favicon should be a light gray shape with a square in the bottom-left, and my old one, the one that won't change, should be DARK gray with a blue square.

Clearing the cache (a million times over I might add) and restarting FF isn't working, and I really have no idea what to do. The icon shows up fine in Opera 9.0 and Flock, and is screwed up (a slightly mangled version of my old favicon) in IE 7 Beta 2.

And while I'm at it, I have another question about favicons. I know that if you put one in your root directory (which is what I did) it will be used for all subdirectories beneath it. But if you put one in a subdirectory, say sqthreer.com/stuff, will the icon show up for stuff's directory and all those within? I would certainly hope so.

No.  The ERROR you're reporting indicates that the mysql function library is not loaded, for some reason.  You would get a DIFFERENT error if you were having a DB authentication problem.

I'm afraid that all I can suggest at this point is to remove PHP and reinstall, following the Win installation instructions as carefully as POSSIBLE, and then repeating the steps in this thread.  Perhaps you missed something along the way?

I created an email to send out for our business.  Can't figure out how to get it to my email as won't copy or paste or?.  I don't know how to change the format EITHER.  I have tried to create an outlook email account - thought I could send it that way but no luck.   I just wanted to copy it to my yahoo e-mail and I sent it out.   :-/  I used Microsoft Office Publisher 2003 to create it.  It looks like this - C:\Documents and Settings\user\My Documents\CRS\CRSEmail32006.pub.  I bet I need to change the pub to something else?

Thanks for your help as is appreicated.............  If you want to create an email, use your email editor, not a piece of document design software.  I'm afraid in this case you'll pretty much have to start from scratch with Yahoo's email composer.

Email is not designed for complex document layouts.  Yes, you can send email in HTML (web) format, but not all email readers will see this, particularly if they are set to text-only.  More and more people are going for text-only, or image-free email, because of the major spam problems associated to HTML email.

You can send your file as an attachment, of course, but in that case it would be best to save it as a PDF, so that more people can read it.  You can use PrimoPDF to CONVERT to PDF format.Thanks very much for the help and clarification.  Saves me a HUGE amount of time.  So now on Yahoo I can make up a nice email too?

How do I make an image become bigger on the same page by clicking on the image? I have TRIED to read the source code on pages where I have seen this feature, but I have not been able to determine the HTML for that.

I have a table of small images and I want to be able to click on the images to make them larger on the same page, and then click the image again to reduce the image back to the small size. Like a toggle effect.

I am using HTML in Dreamweaver to make this site.

If you hold your pointer over the picture, sometimes it offers you to stretch the photo to its proper size...

[glb]Flame[/glb]I want to have a table with images, and when the viewer clicks on a THUMBNAIL of an image, I want the image to become much bigger on the same page, without upsetting any other info on the page.  Without loading another page, or reloading the original page with a larger image size. I only want the image itself to change sizes.
Then, when the user is done viewing the LARGE image, be able to click it to change the image size back to thumbnail size.

Have you tried to LOOK up dynamicdrive.com?  They have tons of codes - free - and I think I saw one there like that.  GOOD luck!Can you find what you're looking for on the net then check the source code?

I am tying to set up a web site that I can keep trak of my inventory on and also allow people to purchase items from the page via credit card.

Thank you so muchBasically, you need an eCommerce solution.  This is a fairly big deal, and you may wish to get some professionals to set it all up for you.  If this is going to be a major INCOME stream for you, it seriously is worth getting it right.

Two options I can recommend:

I have CREATED a table using the Coffeecup HTML-edito, and enter the details in each ROW using Arial SIZE 1.

However, when I insert a row and start to type in the details, the default font is quite different, and I must laboriously CHANGE it manually.

I read earlier from the site that you can change the COLOR of the background to the color that your PREFER. So, what i was wanting to know is can you make it so that you can PICK which color text you want and pick the background color also. Too HARD to read so this will be ignored

I seen it on ANOTHER screen and it was big and I needed to scroll over to see the entire title.

Is there SOMETHING I can do so that all monitors see it on one screen? Is there sizers out there?

I am USING MS Front Page.
Kellee.....I think the SCEEN you looked at was probably set at a differant DISPLAY resolution than your hence you would have to scroll across to see all of it .........
How did you set it up in frontpage to be displayed ?

I've uploaded a .wmv file to my site, and the usual 'a href' link opens the movie as an adjunct to the web PAGE on the left side, making it small and hard to see.  Could someone tell me how to get the movie to open in Windows Media Player as a separate, full screen window, as it does when I click on the file located on my hard drive?

If you're trying to fix your browser display only:

- for IE, go to Tools>Internet Options - under the Advanced tab, look to see if Settings>Multimedia>Play Videos In Web Pages is enabled.  Uncheck this box to disable.

Your video file should now open in your default (WMV)multimedia player (Windows Media Player?)

- for Firefox, you will find the settings listed under Tools>Options>Downloads>File Types>Actions>Plug-Ins.  Enable WMV and it will play using the plug-in listed.  Disable and it will bypass the browser and download/play using options you choose.

If you are trying to force everyone to view your file full-screen with Windows Media Player, I wouldn't recommend it.  Better to make that recommendation on your web site and let the user decide whether his/her 66 mhz PC, 32 mb ram and dial-up MODEM can handle it.
Besides, I can't think of a friendly WAY to do it.

That depends on the search ENGINE... Some (such as GOOGLE) say that you could take a number of weeks... However... Many search engines will show you a status, to show if your website was accepted...
