Corruption in India

“Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.” It is not easy to define corruption. But in a narrow sense, corruption is mostly concerned with ‘bribery’ and it takes several forms. Corruption is a global phenomenon and it is omnipresent. Corruption has progressively increased and is now rampant in our society.

Corruption in India is a consequence of the nexus between bureaucracy, politicians and criminals. India is now no longer considered a soft state. It has now become a considerate state where everything can be had for a consideration. Today, the number of ministers with an honest image can be counted on fingers. At one time, bribe was paid for getting wrong things done, but now bribe is paid for getting right things done at the right time.

Here, the most important thing is the nature of the human being. People have a big thirst for luxuries and comfort. As a result of this they get themselves involved in corruption. Another important reason is that moral and spiritual values are not given utmost importance in our educational system. This fact is highly responsible for the moral deterioration of society.

Corruption is a difficult problem. Like diabetes, it can only be controlled, but not totally eliminated. It may not be possible to root out corruption completely at all levels, but it is possible to contain it within tolerable limits. Corruption is a global problem that all countries of the world have to confront, solutions, however, can only be home grown. We have tolerated corruption for so long. The time has now come to eliminate it from its roots. Some reformers like Anna Hazare and Swami Ramdev are protesting against corruption these days. If they get success in their aim, our country can attain its past glory.

भारत में भ्रष्टाचार

भ्रष्टाचार को परिभाषित करना आसान नहीं है। लेकिन संकीर्ण अर्थ में, भ्रष्टाचार का संबंध विशेषतौर पर रिश्वत से होता है और यह कई रूपों में पाया जाता है। भ्रष्टाचार एक वैश्विक घटना है और यह सर्वव्याप्त है। भ्रष्टाचार लगातार बढ़ा है और अब हमारे समाज में उग्र हो गया है।

भारत में भ्रष्टाचार नौकरशाहों, राजनेताओं और अपराधियों के बीच बंधन का परिणाम है। आज, ईमानदार छवि वाले मंत्रियों को अंगुलियों पर गिना जा सकता है। कभी रिश्वत गलत काम को करवाने के लिए दी जाती थी लेकिन अब रिश्वत सही काम को समय पर करने के लिए दी जाती है।

यहाँ सबसे ज्यादा महत्वपूर्ण बात है मनुष्य का स्वभाव। विलासिता व आराम या सुख-सुविधाओं के प्रति उसकी प्यास बहुत ज्यादा होती है। इसका परिणाम होता है कि वे स्वयं को भ्रष्टाचार में लिप्त कर लेते हैं। अन्य महत्वपूर्ण कारण है। (भ्रष्टाचार को) कि शैक्षिक व्यवस्था में नैतिक व आध्यात्मिक मूल्यों को बहुत ज्यादा महत्व नहीं दिया जाता है। समाज के पतन के लिये यह तथ्य बेहद जिम्मेदार है।

भ्रष्टाचार एक कठिन समस्या है। भ्रष्टाचार का हर स्तर पर समूल विनाश कर पाना सम्भव नहीं है लेकिन इसे सहन किये जाने योग्य स्तर तक लाया जा सकता है। भ्रष्टाचार एक वैश्विक समस्या है जिसका सामना संसार के सभी देशों को करना होता है, फिर भी इसका हल हमारे द्वारा ही खोजा जा सकता है। हमने भ्रष्टाचार को बहुत सह लिया है। अब इसे जड़ से उखाड़ फेंकने का समय आ गया है। अन्ना हजारे और स्वामी रामदेव जैसे समाज सुधारक आज भ्रष्टाचार के खिलाफ प्रदर्शन कर रहे हैं। यदि वे अपने ध्येय में सफल होते हैं, तो भारत अपनी खोई हुयी गरिमा को प्राप्त कर सकता है।
