Drug Abuse

Drug abuse has spread in many countries. Millions of rupees are spent internationally in preventing drug use, treating addicts, and fighting drug-related crime. Although, drugs threaten many societies, their effects can also be combated successfully.

Drug abuse causes multiple problems for countries and communities. The medical and psychological effects are very obvious. Addicts cannot function as normal members of society. They neglect or abuse their families, and eventually require expensive treatment or hospitalization. The second effect is on crime. Huge police forces are needed to fight against smuggling. Criminal gangs and Mafia underworlds finance their operations with money from drugs.

However, the menace of drugs can be fought. Education is the first battle. Children need to be told at home and in school about drugs. People need to be aware of the effects so that they can avoid this problem. Families and counsellors need to talk to children and people at risk.

In conclusion, although the problem of drugs may seem impossible to eliminate, there are concrete steps that can be taken to weaken the hold of drugs on society. The danger from drugs is too great to ignore.

नशीले पदार्थों का दुर्व्यसन

नशीले पदार्थों का दुर्व्यसन कई देशों में फैल गया है। नशीले पदार्थों के प्रयोग को रोकने के लिए, दुर्व्यसनियों का उपचार करने के लिए तथा नशीले पदार्थों से संबंधित अपराधों से निपटने के लिए अंतर्राष्ट्रीय स्तर पर करोड़ों रुपये खर्च किये जाते हैं। यद्यपि नशीले पदार्थों ने कई समाजों को डरा दिया है, फिर भी इनके प्रभाव से सफलतापूर्वक निपटा जा सकता है।

ड्रग का दुर्व्यसन देशों व समुदायों के लिए कई प्रकार की समस्याएँ पैदा करता है। चिकित्सकीय एवं मनोवैज्ञानिक प्रभाव बड़े ही स्पष्ट हैं। लती व्यक्ति समाज के एक सामान्य व्यक्ति की तरह से कार्य नहीं कर सकता है। वे अपने परिवार को उपेक्षित करते हैं या उनसे दुर्व्यवहार करते हैं, और अंततः उन्हें खर्चीले उपचार या अस्पताल में भर्ती होने की आवश्यकता होती है। दूसरा प्रभाव अपराध पर होता है। स्मगलिंग से निपटने के लिए बहुत ही विशाल पुलिस बल की आवश्यकता होती है। ड्रग के धन से अपराधियों के संगठित गिरोह तथा माफिया अन्डरवर्ल्ड की गतिविधियाँ पोषित होती हैं।

फिर भी, ड्रग की धमकी से निपटा जा सकता है। शिक्षा पहली लड़ाई है। बच्चों को घरों पर तथा विद्यालयों में ड्रग के बारे में बताये जाने की आवश्यकता है। लोगों को प्रभावों के बारे में जागरूक करने की आवश्यकता है ताकि वे इस समस्या से बच सकें। परिवारों तथा सलाहकारों को खतरे में पड़े बच्चों व लोगों से बातचीत करने की आवश्यकता है।

निष्कर्ष रूप में, भले ही ड्रग की समस्या को समाप्त करना असंभव लगे फिर भी कुछ ठोस कदम हैं जिन्हें समाज पर ड्रग की पकड़ को कमजोर करने के लिए उठाया जा सकता है। ड्रग का खतरा इतना बड़ा है कि इसकी उपेक्षा नहीं की जा सकती है।
