Solve : Invalid partition table booting W10 from USB? |
Answer»

Hello. My grandfather gave me his old XP computer to get it repaired. The Windows XP is stuck in a bootloop so I decided I should try and install W10 on it. I plugged my USB made with Media Creation Tool and when I BOOT from it I get ”Invalid partition table”. After watching some tutorials I found that is something RELATED to the UEFI or Legacy settings, but it doesn't seem the BIOS has these kind of settings. What can I do?

Also, this computer has a CD-ROM drive, so I tried replacing it vith a DVD-RW to try and boot from a DVD, but the drive is not recognised in the BIOS.

Someone suggested to try and scan the HDD for problems, so I burned Hutil on a CD but I again get "Invalid partition table". \The HDD is an IDE Samsung.

Thank you in advance for your help. I always had trouble with this older tech.If the computer was running windows XP what are the DETAILS of the hardware. Also if it wasn't booting windows XP all of a sudden, then it has a hardware problem which you need to diagnose first before loading windows 10.

So can I have the hardware details ether a link to the model or a list of specs. Some pictures of the inside as it could have faulty motherboard capacitors.

Do you have any software to do the hardware diagnostic?

Perhaps download a iso of PUPPY linux which has memtest and may be an option instead of windows 10 to put on the computer. http://puppylinux.com/download.htmlRunning XP...Samsung HDD...it's LIKELY the HDD is dead.
So if you wanna breath new life into it get a new drive...

| |
