Solve : Laptop keeps shutting down?

The laptop is usually connected to the Internet which runs in the background even if I am just typing in <a href="https://interviewquestions.tuteehub.com/tag/word-244271" style="font-weight:bold;" target="_blank" title="Click to know more about WORD">WORD</a>.<br/><br/>Fairly often it will shut down for no apparent reason, but shutdown is almost guaranteed when accessing, say, YouTube. I have had to use the Toshiba recovery disk twice to 'recover' my system, but I have lost all of my programmes, files and folders on each occasion.<br/><br/>What might be the reason for this, please? It appears, on the surface, that this may be a hardware problem - maybe fan overheating, but shutdown occurs even when the computer environment is not warm.<br/><br/>I am posting below some details of cause for laptop to shutdown on you, especially when running an application that is CPU intensive is that its CPU reports to the main board that the temperature is too hot and it protects itself by shutting down without any ability to save anything.<br/><br/>Toshiba's have had a bad rash of overheats over the last few years. When the laptop shuts down like this feel the laptops bottom and sides. Is there any very hot areas. If so you are dealing with a thermal shutdown.<br/><br/>Fans also cause this issue when they fail, but generally a failed CPU fan will cause the laptop or desktop to boot for about 10 seconds or so and then shut down always x-many seconds in from boot when the speedo on the fan is detected as not spinning.Does that laptop restart if it locks up, too?Hello and thanks for your replies.<br/><br/>No, the laptop does not restart automatically - it has to be manually restarted.<br/><br/>Yes, DaveLembke there are a couple of hot areas, usually, when it shuts down - though not always.
