If you install Windows on a PC and then take the hard drive out and put it in a different PC, it won't work. That is because each Windows installation ties itself to the hardware of the PC it is installed to. you could use a tool like sysprep to run through the mini setup. This is how places like dell load an IMAGE with software already installed. The mini setup will detect and install all hardware that drivers are supplied for.
