Solve : Peculiar case of access denied?

Answer»

Hi,

Using Win2K Server 2003 SP2

Some of my applications(.exe) don't run from their folders.

Double CLICKING says- You don't have the permission ......
Command Prompt - Access Denied

I am the administrator.
Now comes the surprise, if i zip it and run it from inside zip it works.

Any clues?Try to create new user, and see if they work from there. What applications ? ?Mostly with installers.

I am LOGIN with administrator, so creation of new login doesn't come into picture.whats the last thing you did to the computer?any protection?updated?
NothingWhere are these applications located (path)?

Have you checked your group policy settings? It happens for a part of installers.

Lately i was testing some installers, then i faced this situation.

For some it says "Access denied"Who compiled these installers ? ?

We're really GOING to need some more info here...These are general commercial installers.

Just downloaded from net

Like Textpad, editplus, some games, anything

Path is ever changing.

Where ever i download it.

What should i check in group policy, any specific keyI'm interested in the install paths rather than the download paths - or are these non-installed programs?

I'll get back to you re group policies but first, tell me this: have you messed around with group policies at all or installed any admin packs?Nothing,

The installation paths don't come into picture as "Access denied" comes as soon as i double click the installer.

If group policy or anything else had any impact, then it would effect everything.

I am facing it for 50% only
