Hi im having trouble with my computer ive already had to reset to factory settings and lost all my personal files. One day a regular windows update was updating then all of a sudden my computer restared its self and when it turned back on there where black and red lines down the screen. Now i have to start it in safe mode with networking, the check for solutions says its something to do with the nvidia GeForce 7500 LE card or driver. I tryed reinstalling the latest driver for the graphics card with no success. As i cannot start in normal mode i can not run windows uptate to see if that will work, i have also reset it to the factory settings with no joy. I dont have any Windows discs, recovery discs or backup discs. Any help will be apprieciated.

thanks i shall try that but how do i reset the bios?

I could not activate bluetooth in my Acer 5745 LAPTOP . I've LOOKED all around the laptop to SEE if there is a SLIDE button to turn on bluetooth but there isn't one. Any help to enable bluetooth in Acer 5745 laptop wuld be much APPRECIATED.

Actually, it's not a "dual BIOS" feature, but a protected area of the BIOS. 

What is DualBIOS?

Motherboard that support DualBIOS have two BIOS onboard, a main BIOS and a backup BIOS, Normally, the system works on the main BIOS. However, if the main BIOS is corrupted or damaged, the backup BIOS wil take over on the next system boot and copy the BIOS file to the main BIOS to ensure normal system operation. For the sake of system safety, the user cannot update the backup BIOS manually.

Maybe dual BIOS is more common on newer "premium" motherboards.  Memory is so cheap, now, it costs them next to nothing to add a backup BIOS chip.  I assume your MB was more than $100, maybe more than $200?

I've been running on Catalyst 10.5 and decided to update to 10.6. When I updated it, I started randomly getting blue screens of death. I've run driver sweeper and reinstalled Catalyst 10.6 but now I'm still getting the exact same problem.

I just reverted to 10.5, but they aren't installing correctly. It says that it installs correctly but then I restart my computer and it says that no ATI drivers are installed. I had the 10.5 driver installed previous to trying to install 10.6. SO how could I get 10.5 or 10.6 to work?
Alternative Catalyst Drivers

Just purchased a Logitech Webcam Pro 9000 for my Dell 5100 Inspiron laptop.  I purchased this particular webcam because my laptop has neither a camera nor a microphone - and Logitech appears to be an excellent quality device.   I'm running Windows XP.  I want to use this webcam with Skype.   The camera works fine.  However, the microphone seems dead.  Talked with Logitech customer service for about 2 hours.  We determined that my laptop needs to download the Logitech USB audio driver.   However, each time we attempt to install the driver, I get the dreaded "Blue Screen".  The Blue Screen indicates there is a problem with file KS.SYS    Logitech Customer Service has no idea what is wrong and decided to send me a new unit (which I have not received yet).  However, I suspect the same situation will occur again with the new unit.   I've gone to the Dell website and downloaded an audio driver update and visited Microsoft as well.  This made no difference as upon trying to update the Logitech USB audio driver, I still received the Blue Screen again.   I've read everything I can on-line and done just about everything I can.   Anyone out there have any suggestions?   Regards.   Ray   PS: forgot to mention that I also did a "recovery of Windows back to an earlier time period".  Windows SAID that there were no changes since the previous backup period which was SEVERAL weeks ago.  Tried again to do the Logitech USB audio driver install and once again received the Blue Screen with the notice that the problem occurred with the KS.SYS file.How many USB devices do you have plugged into your laptop?  Is the camera plugged into an external hub?  If so, is it a powered hub (meaning it has its own AC adapter)?  If it's not powered, then that camera ALONG with other devices will suck up all 500 mA of power allowed through the bus and blue-screen the laptop.Killerb255, thanks for your help.    However, the webcam was plugged directly into one of my 2 USB ports on my laptop.   My mouse was plugged into the other USB port.   So there was minimal power CONSUMPTION going on with external devices.

I RECENTLY got an SATA/USB adaptor to back up old hard disks. The adaptor works FINE for ONE disk, but another--the one I really need--keeps saying it is "inaccessible" because the "parameter is incorrect." Is there anything I can do?More info...Specifically:

1) Brand name of the SATA to USB adapter.
2) Does the non-working disk work when it's plugged into any other PC via the SATA to USB adapter? 
3) Does the non-working disk work when CONNECTED directly to another PC's SATA or IDE port?

I am having a problem with my sound driver it is "Conexant high defination audio driver". Whenever I try to install it I get a error message that reads could not find the media device for this driver.Any errors in device manager?No, I did not see any error in device manager, it's listed there but it has a caution sign NEXT to it. That what it LOOKS like.Well that's an error - but it probably just means the driver is not installed, which we already know. Let's start at the top:

1) Did the sound ever work? If yes, what happened that is causing you to try to reinstall the driver?

I have just got a dell precision m6500 laptop and trying to get it setup with both windows 7 and windows XP 64bit.  I managed to get the Windows 7 no problem but the XP 64 BIT is causing some issues.  I have a tried a number of drivers from the cd to the dell suport drivers yet still cant find the correct drivers for the following

SM Bus controller
broadcom ush driver
6 x base system device drivers 

It does not have a fingure print READER so not sure why its looking for the USH Driver?  The laptop works fine just the drivers missing which bugs me. Dell's are finicky with drivers...
You need to scour their site for Win7 64BIT drivers....
If they are not listed for those devices....you could try the Vista 64Bit ones....but they should come from Dell only nonethelessWill the Windows 7 drivers WORK with the XP?  The ones i tried come up WIT ERRORS but worth another shot.

I recently have just reformatted my computer. I have missing drivers and i don't know how to successfully install them without messing up the computer again. When I was LOOKING for support from Dell, it asked for a SERVICE tag. I clicked to automatically find the service tag but it came back as there is no service tag. From this point I can get no support from Dell. Also, my C drive says its full when I tried to move STUFF from the C to D drive it still says its full and apparently some things cannot be deleted from the C drive and put onto the D drive. If anyone can help me, it will be greatly appreciated.1) If you reformatted then your c: drive cannot be full.
2) Download and RUN Belarc Advisor and it will TELL your service tag number. It will also tell you what all of your hardware is so you can download and install the correct drivers.

"primary hard disc not found" "no bootable devices" message on cold start up , I have UPDATED the bios to (A16) and what ever DRIVERS i could find on the dell site, new main battery, when i get this message on cold boot I hit F2 and change the Boot POST:to min/auto/thorough and or change the PXE BIS Policy: to reset/accept and then save changes and it will boot up fine, now if i TURN it off for about 1/2 to 1 hour its OK but leave it off for a COUPLE of hours or over night this message comes back and back into the bios I go, also i noticed when i hit F12 for Dell Diag it said No diagnostic utility Partition found and I don't have the Dell "Drivers and Utilities" CD to boot off of -
any help     thanks in advanceYou need to remove the CMOS battery for 10 minutes...
Do this with ALL power unplugged.
Hit the power button 3 or 4 times as well to dissipate any stored energy.

This will re-set the CMOS back to it's default settings.Your particular laptop has a "RESERVE Battery".  It needs to be replaced.

how do you reboot to a BOOTABLE disc?You need to start paying attention.

If you have an original OS disc (Vista, XP, etc) insert it in the cd drive. If not, you can create one (as BC suggested above, download memtest and burn it to cd). After you insert a bootable cd, reboot the computer. first of all cant go back, i already make the mistake of deleting files.. for more room, clean up.. upset now i did that, dont have a disk, back up and my computer KEEPS shutting down all by itself , in device manager says NON plug n play file and it is the file above with yellow and an exclamation point .. no cash, unemployment and need to get this fixed, monitor i thought blew but maybe it was this file that caused my problem with shutting down .. new borrowed monitor .. i really need to fix this asap before i lose my computer ... please help this blondie

Connection type is DSL.........Modem/Router is ActionTec GT704WG....don't know what else you need to know  :-?...............LisaDownload Everest Home Edition (Click) and identify the device entirely.A router would not show up in device manager. How about a hint or two about the computer or motherboard make/model and any expansion cards you are aware of?

This is everything that Everst gave me.....still.the device driver that is in question is not showing..........maybe if y'all can look at these 3 posts...you can aid me in fixing the problems that you see, at least that is a start. I would just rip it out and buy a new Network card. Texas instruments makes crappy hardware, heck you even have to fill out a huge form before you can contact technical support to make sure you're not a terrorist!A new NIC card will cost you a whopping 10 or 15 bucks...

I USE windows XP sp2 and I will just inform you of what I have done to try to solve the problem so far.  I had the avg trial and then the avg miniport 2 driver corrupted.  I tried deleting it and it said it might be needed for system boot so it wouldnt let me delete it.  I also tried uninstalling/installing avg as well as pinging the ip addresss.  avg miniport 2 driver has most likely nothing to do with AVG antivirus.
Where exactly is it listed in Device Manager, and, please post full name of that entry.
You may see something like:
"WLAN Miniport (IP) - AVG miniport driver"

Antivirus programs that provide active protection do it through the combined use of drivers, filters and services in addition to the GUI portions of the program that you see when you run it. You can try rebooting in safe mode with networking DISABLED and try deleting all of the AVG software. That way nothing is in use when you try to delete the program. Also right click on your network connection and click repair to reset and renew your IP address. Then you can try to reinstall AVG or find another program. Those all in one programs sometimes can get intertwined with system files, its a PITA.

I'll check out what I loaded shortly... well probably within a few days.  I've got a nightmare week ahead of me so I'll try to get to it when I can.

One thing I will say though, DO NOT wipe/format the HDD until you've backed up the Drivers FOLDER from C:\ drive.  If you don't have that folder you won't have the drivers for sound - in all my searching I never found a suitable driver elsewhere (lucky my partner had the same computer which wasn't formatted yet!).

I am having troubles updating my drivers I am using an Nvidia Geforce 8800 GTS and when I install the LATEST driver 8250 it gives me an error that it failed to initiate so windows STOPPED it ( code 43 ). In addition to that when I start up my computer before the log in screen there are about 6 vertical blue lines which weren't there before I recently reformatted my computer. As well as those PROBLEMS sometimes when I try to open a window it will sit there for a bit and then just not open the window such as windows update or control panel.

I'm trying to ADD a printer to a number of PCs and I find that the Add Printer Driver Wizard's list of printers for each manuafcturer varies from PC to PC.

Can ANYONE tell me where this list is populated from? My printer appears on some and not on others.

Some PCs are Windows 2000, some are Windows xp, but the lists vary from xp to xp as well as from 2000 to xp

For a number of weeks a Floppy Drive has been appearing on my computer, I've NEVER installed a Floppy Drive. I've uninstalled it numerous times yet when I turn the computer on it reapears.

Simply re-install it and re-boot and you should be GOOD to go...I didn't get a CD it was already set up...Visit the manuf. website...enter your info and search for the sound chip drivers...ok will do, but do you know why it's done this?

I recently upgraded my motherboard and processor in my PC  (MSI P7N SLI platinum motherboard and intel Q9650 3.0GHZ quad core). Im running vista home premium 32 BIT which will run FINE until I install any video card drivers. Im using an 8800GTS 512mb which ran PERFECTLY well on my old system. when I boot up my system, it will get to the vista loading screen and then the screen goes blank for 20-30 secs at which point i get a blue screen. It SAYS there is some sort of problem with nvlddmkm.sys.
I have tried putting the card in different PCI-E slots or using non nvidia drivers but i just got the same problem. The system also ran without PROBLEMS on ubuntu.

Hi I have a logitech game PAD (dual action). When playing a game the charachter will move always down and right unless I push the stick the opposite way. It makes gaming problomatic. Any ideas, I can't update the driver either... see attached. Thanks in advance

try unplugging the controller, waiting a while, and plugging it BACK in.I'll get rid and have a look again. Does it MAKE a difference if it's a dos based game? When it's plugged in and identified, do a 360 with the joysticks.

That's how I fix up my XBox controller when playing Flight Sim. When I first start the game, I need to 'realign' the controller.I've done that Carbon but still getting the same result.

My other laptop is well.. the SCREEN is smashed and the power port at the back has fallen out. I was having a tantrum with a trojan horse. Is there any way I can get the game to work by using keys? The directional buttons move the character (Moostone) by the way. My PC currently supporting USB 1.0. I need to update it to USB 2.0, for this purpose I bought a new Intex USB card 2.0. I assembled it to my motherboard, but when I swith on the system, it is not at all booting.

System SPecification:

The USB iam trying to install is Intex USB  card 2.0.

The only difference is that I am using an Apple router with WPA2 security which Intel on the card doesnt even give an option for when setting up to connect to a network, (only WEP and something else; not even sure if 128 BIT excryption is an option; 64 bit at best). Especially setting it up with the password and what not. SO....I enabled Windows Wireless Config to take over the control of the Network Connection and put the password in. I guess The information got tranferred back (SOMEHOW) to the Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2200m B/G Network Connection because it is showing a connection status on my taskbar. The problem before was that I had uninstalled the Intel connection software (but kept the drivers giving me the BSOD) but let Windows ZERO Config do the job of the Intel software. This time around I have kept the software intalled but let Windows Zero Config take over control of the router but still kept the Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2200m B/G Network Connection program installed and running at the SAME TIME. They both show different connection qualities (Excellent under Windows Zero Config; Good Under Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2200m B/G Network connection on my taskbar. I still have Windows Zero Config enabled but had Intel running at the same time and I haven't had a BSOD all night and I just woke up (Which is A FIRST FOR THE BSOD) so finally it works with no problems AT ALL (FINGERS crossed)  Thanks again BRONI because without your help I would  have  tried to reinstall windows but would have still ran into the same problem after trying to install the internal wireless card drivers from the ACER suport site. YOUR AWESSOME BRONI and without your patience this laptop would have been in the garbage!   Very nice job my friend

Hey, guys. I just downgraded (some would say upgraded) from VISTA to xp. I noticed that the drivers for my graphics card, my pci buss, and my wireless card were all missing. I updated the graphics card and it works perfectly. Then i updated my wireless card driver and found that it still wouldn't turn on. My wireless card and speakers/sound card are both connected to my pci buss, and I can't fix it because I'm using a laptop. Fortunately my graphics card was integrated. I'm using a Compaq presario c700, i believe it is em. I have driver detective, I'm just not ready to pay 30 bucks yet. Here is what it says I'm either missing or have outdated drivers for.

Again, I don't know how to get any more specific information than  this.Laptop drivers should come directly from the manuf. site.
MBoard chipset drivers if not installed first or improperly will sometimes block other driver installations...Do you have a drivers CD for those? If you have your problem is solved.ok, i got it mostly solved from google searching my product. however, my network controller is still not working everything else is fine.

Just got new monitor. cant SEEM to find driver in order to increase resolution. What are my options. I have a dell Dimension 3000  and a Dell S2209W flat Panel MONITORI don't THINK the dell Dimension 3000 can support RESOLUTIONS at that level. hi guys. i recently reinstalled my windows, only to find that my 5.1 surround sound was not working. i tried to REINSTALL the drivers from the creative website...i have a creative x-fi extreme sound card with t6060 5.1 surround system. the PROCESS seemed to be working ok, it was removing the old drivers and then froze. now there is no sound at all, and i dont know how to get it back. when i go to volume control, the only options i have are wave, SW synth and cd player. media player etc are working but there is just no sound. please HELP!

hello all, i have a serious driver issue , i have just paid $180 to get windows xp home installed i have been instucted to get driver detective to begin to try and resolve a screen issue it seems i have 10 drivers that need updating  my machine is currently consisting of these stats.. 2002 win xp home,5.1.2600. 512mb ram,intel celeron 2.00ghz .  so can any tell me if i have an option not to pay $30 to have driver detective REPAIR these drivers. as current hard times are causing financial difficulties. i thought that when i got the home edition installed all would be (sweet) but it appears not..the problems are..intel (R) usb universal host controller, ess1969 pci audio drive, lucent win modem, intel  (r) 8280 ultra ata storage controller-24cb- intel sm bus controller, intel pci controller, intel processor(2)  any tips/help i would be grateful thanks. i have also noticed that most free driver update web sites are not free for updating..You should be able to go to the computer manufacturers web site and run their driver utility for your specific computer. I've just started using a bit of an old PC which I reformated and didn't have any problems with until I came to installing the GRAPHICS card drivers.. It's a Radeon 7000 and i got the drivers straight from the amd site and installed them but games aren't running properly and it appears that the drivers are defunct and for INSTANCE when I try to launch counter strike:source it tells me the drivers are out of date and LINKS me to the page where I got the drivers from ORIGINALLY. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling and really not sure what I can do.

Can anyone PLEASE help me?

Okay, so, I have a VERY annoying problem.

 

My graphics card won't get updated drivers! Yay!!

My ATI Radeon 3650 factory overclocked REFUSES to update drivers. Its currently stuck at 8.6 (which I finally got up from 8.2 after a few hours), while the newest is (i believe) 9.4 .Running Windows Vista (for this part of the fixing attempts. read on.)

Also, it should be noticed that Valve's game client Steam always alerts me when opening Left 4 Dead that my driver is out of date and is in fact 8.14.10.662, and it reports this even after I got it to 8.6

So, things I have tried to update it:

1. Simply installing new drivers. No.

2. Installing the Catalyst+Drivers. No.

3. UNINSTALLING old drivers, reverting to onboard VGA, using a driver wiper to WIPE THE OLD ONES, then install using the new 9.4. Huh. It still is 8.6. Funny joke ATI.

4. I installed Windows 7 32x beta on a new hard drive to make it my primary and UNPLUGGED the old one, then installed the new drivers. Nope.

5. Booted in safe mode, uninstalled the old drivers, tried to install the new ones, got a "Failed to load detection driver" error, which I read has to do with not updating the C++ Microsoft Distrubition, so I did that, same error.

6. Used driver wiper to wipe all traces of ANYTHING ATI on my computer, and still, the drivers remained the same version.

7. Went back to basics, I told Windows to go find the updates itself, it said I have the most updated.

8. Showed Windows the actual folder where the new driver was and told it to update. It said it didn't see any.

These are all the things i've tried. Have any other solutions? Please post them, I probably already tried and forgot to mention, but post them anyway .

This problem causes Left 4 Dead to crash my computer on low settings for everything. It is not a BSOD, it is simply a freeze with one screen turning an olive color and the other a mild blue and restart.

ATI, April Fools day was a long time ago, and the Nvidia online store is looking pretty nice right now.

 

Anyone have any ideas?

 

Edit: New symptom, I just tried it again, and the same thing happened except for my secondary monitor turned into blue sqaures with blue lines spazzing out in them and static everywhere. Fun.Honestly, you've taken nearly every troubleshooting step there is.

On that note, good work.

My suggestion is this:

Try reinstalling the driver and choosing to pick your own driver manually.  Go to the folder where the new driver is and manually pick that driver.  The problem could be that Vista doesn't see that driver as a "vista compliant" driver and it's ignoring it.

Another step to take would be to make sure you have all windows updates applied.

If this does not work, honestly, I'd not waste another moment and I'd call up ATI and get them to either give you a miracle fix or replace your card.Hey Socrates, THANKS for the reply.

Unfortunately, I have yet to find a way to actually tell Windows 7 (which I am currently running, all though I didn't see it with Vista either), that HERE is the driver. I haven't found a way to actually CHOOSE it in an explorer window to install. The options for manual install are

1. Search for a driver in the folder (you basically say here is the folder, now look for the driver)
or
2. Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer, which are ATI Radeon HD 3600 Series, or ATI Radeon HD 3600 Series (Microsoft Corporation WDDM 1.1), or Standard VGA.

None of those help me.. Actually, choosing to install the first two brought down my driver version to 8.53. Tomorrow I will call AMD for some help, or if you have any other suggestions, please let me know


 P.S. Anyone know to find the Ordering Part Number of my card?I haven't used windows 7 yet, but from the other windows options I would say to choose number 2- let me pick.  Usually when you choose that you can say "have disk" or something like that to browse to your folder.

Try that, and let me know your results.I'd use the drivers that shipped with the card and wait for Win7 drivers to come out.
The stock drivers for that model work under Win7.

I can really use some HELP. My friend has a Sony Vaio PCV-2222 Desktop with XP Home
His SYSTEM crashed and needed a full reinstallation, unfortunately he doesn't have the ORIGINAL disks any more, so I use my XP Home disk reinstalled everything.
But now I have the hack of a hard time getting the drivers especially the video driver, I went to Sony's site, SEARCHED for PCV-2222 but it come up with 5 different model but PCV-2222, the model listed are PCV RS311, 312 etc, I basically try out every DOWNLOADS possible but none of the works. Just where in the world can I find this controller?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hello there when i first got my computer the person who installed all the drivers and everything he split up the C drive in two parts C and E but now i keep getting errors that the C drive doesnt have memmory and it only has 19 gb as to where the E drive has more how can i join them bk to how they first were ? that way i only have to drives D and C and not C, D, and E which i DONT use so you have one drive with two partitions .... C and E drive? It's simple FIX if you just want the E drive merged with C drive so computer reads it as a single drive so you get all the space under one drive LETTER. My microphone is not WORKING with my system. There is nothing wrong with the Mic.
I can SEE the microphone control in the volume control.
Its L R balance button is not working. (Its in dimmed format).
When i insert my driver CD, the audio driver control is not showing(Its also in dimmed format).
So i install driver by taking set up from the cd's driver folder.
i installed my audio driver many times still its not happening.

Mine is a ASUS P4BGL-VM motherboard. and  C Media is the audio driver.

can someone please help me...More info please. Make of microphone and OS.Ok with c-media I had this problem too.  There are like 2 different inputs.  To change it go to control panel>sounds and devices>audio tab.  Once there, go under recording DEVICE and change that until you find the ONE that works
