Today I've (with a lot of effort) managed to delete all my AMD drivers and installed new beta ones, but now Windows refuses to switch to them and STILL uses the default Vista drivers. Is there a way I can convince it to use the drivers I want?No. Windows BUILDS a driver database at the first install.

AMD Drivers are one of the main reasons I abhor using AMD/ATI devices. I imagine they are better now but they were a nightmare back when it was ATI.

in order to play a specific game properly, i needed an IDT update in order to get the advanced settings.

i have INSTALLED the proper IDT for my motherboard, after the install, i got all settings i needed in order to play the game properly, however after this, i get no sound output what so ever, all sources (device manager, etc.) says that this driver is working properly.

the speakers in question are plugged in, is not muted, and volume is TURNED up, jacks has been checked, all of them dont work anymore.

everything worked BEFORE the IDT update, so speakers in question arent blown out or whatever.

after uninstalling the newest IDT update, upon restart windows downloads a generic driver just to get sound running, but after it was installed, a quick test revealed that the speakers still has no sound output.

i have reinstalled this IDT update 3 times now, using slightly different methods, like admin rights, etc.

the ONLY answer closest to what i could find is a BIOS update, which came up with multiple problems of its own...

and no, i have not done a system restore, i will do that after raging at my PC and give up.... and thats even assuming a system restore even works in the first place.

as for BIOS Problems, i have tried the .exe, .bio, and .iso types.

.exe: says its installed successfully, but upon REVIEW of verion, it is the same version still.

.bio: for some reason i cant find this supposed "display F7" support in order to boot a USB based BIOS update.

.iso: comes up with "this system does not support fullscreen mode, cancel/ignore, both options cancels the update...

current OS vista home premium 32bit.6224.6 v189 is the idt version correct , look in device manage to be sure.

Did you install the dolby control center right below the idt driver ?no, i havent installed this dolby control center, as i dont have anything related to dolby.. but will give it a try anyways.You forgot to answer my 1st question about driver version..

 next question you have installed the chipset driver from that list?yes, version is a match with the file version provided, yet is still vague, hence why i didnt answer at the time.
the only matches i found with the file name and version was 189, and 6370, leading me to believe that it is the correct version, especially since 6224.6 has XP at the end, and 6370 has a V at the end, likely meaning Vista, hence my conclusion.

BIOS update failed to solve my problem, and this dolby thing has also failed, even FORCED to close soon after startup.

through this, intel support and a crap load of google searches with hardly any answers for my problem, i gave up and done a system restore, which done as i have already predicted, FIXED my problem and set everything as before, but without the advanced options needed... and heres the kicker, the state at which these speakers work... IDT under device manager has a warning icon next to it, listing a code 10 error, or another words a very generic error...

funny right?!? (i hate this computer at times....)Code 10 is a hardware error...

Please help me for I spent all day trying thousand things that didn't work, I have a windows 7  64 bit and I got a Canon MX395. Each time I try to install the driver it says failure, I tried from the site it says cannot install drivers. I kept updating my windows until it gave me an error updating, I tired many things it didn't work, I tried an OLDER Canon printer MG CD that I had, well it did install but I cant FIND the printer on the list, when I try to find it or search for it even when connected by cable to it, it is not there, I am very confused and tired and I NEED to use it. Please can you help me? I basically do not have any printer drive! And I can't do anything thank you!Is this a new computer?

Windows 7 or 8 whether 32 bit or 64 will find and install most common printers that have been around for awhile.
Canon MX395 is a current printer and there is not mention of widespread  problems  with it during installation.

More likely ports are damaged. The fact that  you can not get anything to be seen by windows WOULD suggest this. If thins is a new computer, you have to return it. Thee is no practical way for the user to repair the hardware.

Thank u for ur reply, unfortunately it is not a new computer, therefore I can do nothing about it, it is a Toshiba and no I have never installed a printer on it so no solution I cant buy a new one now!OK. You never had a printer on it.
When did you install Windows 7 64 bit?
What is the model # of you Toshiba?
Do you have any USB things tact work on it?

KamcorderFirst off, Don't use any software such as "DriverAgent" as there is absolutely no point in using them and they often cause more problems than they solve.

You should only ever download drives from the manufacturer of the PC/Component so in the case of your chipset you should either get the driver from the manufacturer of the motherboard/PC or NVIDIA.

That said, DriverAgent and other "Driver Scanning" software blow the issue of a driver being out of date way out of proportion.  Unless you are experiencing issues with the driver you have at the moment then you may as well stay with it - The old saying "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" applies here.

"Driver Scanning" TOOLS will always make claims as to why out of date drivers are bad.etc purely to sell their software which you should never need to pay for, drivers should be and are always free to download from the manufacturer's website. MORNING Camerongrey.i have just read your ARTICLE on driver updates. Cos I had ever met the same trouble as you and I lost almost all data on my drive since the whole drive is gone.
I tried everything I could but nothing got back. Then my friend to me to try some data recovery softwares which can restore lost drive.

I have bought a new Dell Inspiron 660s (64 bit with Windows 7). I want to dual boot it with Windows XP (32 bit) . So I need Windows XP 32 bit drivers for:

Realtek ALC662VD Audio Driver

Realtek RTL8111F Ethernet Controller Driver

Intel HD Graphics Driver

These are onboard  components.

They are not available at support.dell.com. And the manufacture's websites use somewhat different names  or numbers  for the components.

For example, at the Intel website I can find  two Intel HD Graphics Driver downloads for Windows XP 32 bit which list the Intel motherbords they apply to. I  don't have an Intel motherboard number. Dell made the motherboard mostly with Intel chips and GAVE it their own number. So I don't know what will work, if any.

Realtek also has drivers for Windows XP 32 bit but for ALC662 and not ALC662VD. And for RTL8111 but not RTL8111F.

I'm really lost. Maybe there are not drivers for this Dell hardware that will work.

P.S. I am aware of the SATA driver issue and believe I have the correct driver to use with my USB floppy drive.

so i have done mad research on all the options and none work for me... First i tried the device manager or mouse options. There is no ELAN on my mouse option. and i cant disable anything in device manager... Next i tired the BIOS method and there is no options for my mouse or devices in my advance settings tab... Next i updated all my asus drivers and it  says everything is up to date and still nothing... If so your manual states how to disable the touchpad and do so...yes i only want to use a external mouse usb plugin. but having my touchpad still active it effects my performance. example when i type sometimes just my wrist hovering over the touchpad makes my mouse go crazy and other stuff. i Just want to fully disable my mouse pad on the laptop and no my manual doesnt say how to disable  it, it would usually be the fn key + f9 but that clearly doesnt work. ive done some research and that feature always WORKS improperly. i have done other methods stated above but it doesnt pretain to me because my system doesnt show it...

Hey! my sdcard shows only shortcuts of every folder in it and originals are got hide. I tried resolving it by command (attrib -h -s -r -a /s /d {drive_name}:\*.*). Hi everyone. I'm trying to fix my brother's old computer which he USES just for pictures and music. No on-line stuff. He said his sound was working one day and not working the next day. I get the message that no sound device is installed. Also, the drivers for the device cannot be loaded because they may be corrupted or missing. I moved the sound card to a new slot and and tried to download new drivers for the card which is Creative Audio PCI- ES1371, ES1373 WDM but still no sound. I'm wondering if a new re-install of the OS would fix this problem? A re-install of the OS sounds a bit drastic...does the card show up properly in Device Manager ? ?

A Repair install of XP can be done so no data is lost...

XP Repair Install...The card shows up in Device manager with a yellow warning sign. When I go to Properties, it says the drivers for this device have not loaded. I tried a XP repair but it doesn't do anything. The only other option is a fresh install. I have all the data save to a DVD so there's no worry there.I AGREE with patio that a reinstall doesn't sound LIKE the next LOGICAL step. Do you have a different sound card you can try?

If not, open device manager, right-click on the card and "uninstall". Then reboot. The system will find the card and re-install it. Then download and install the correct drivers from the website of the card manufacturer. My guess, however, is that the card needs to be REPLACED.If the drivers came from somewhere other than Creative they may not install properly...

One thing you can try is after DLoading the proper ones is power down and remove the card...re-boot a few times...then power down and install the card.
On boot when Win detects it point it to the correct driver and setup should go fine... Quote

Hello. I installed a Ican card reader. The driver CD that came with it opens a realtek driver installation which MAKES me assume its a realtek card reader. however after installing it i get a triangle with an ! and in the submenu from device manager it says

"the device cannot start" 

I had the driver which i downloaded but i forget how to get it. no where on the box does it tell me a MODEL number. how to get a hardware id in device manager for my card reader? im running win 7 ultimateTo get the device ID, right click on the device in device manager, go to properties, details, then change the dropdown box to hardware IDs.  If you post the first part here, e.g. VEN_13F6&DEV_8788 then that should assist us in finding an updated driver for you, if one is available.thats the problem. i right clickon the device that has the issue go to the hardware id and there is no vendor or device.. is there a program that will tell me?

Right clik the device listings (2) and select un-install.
Re-boot and Windows should automatically re-install the device.

P.S. I cannot see the card reader in your screenshot...alright. i will try that once i get home. in the mean time. what sub folder or better yet under which device WOULD the card reader be listed under?I think by default it may be a hidden device...put a card in it and then do the following and re-boot:

Do not download from a DLL website. Trying running the command line(CMD.exe) and running the "sfc /scannow" OPTION. devcon32.dll is a protected OPERATING system file. This option instructs sfc to scan all protected operating system files and repair as necessary. So if there are any other problems it should fix that as well. Hope this helps.

I am running XP Pro on a Gigabyte Motherboard GA P35-DS3L and do not have the installation disc and at the moment I have no sound and as such NEED some drivers and whatever else may be required.

Although I am fairly experienced in sorting out whatever problems I get with my PC, for this one please consider me a 'newbie' as I know that many people are just as clueless as I am, when it comes to sorting out this particular problem of having no sound.

I think I need Realtek drivers? but when I looked on their Web Site there were so many to choose from that I got completely lost.

Please could someone tell me the name of the driver I need and where to find it.

Also I think I need something else to go with it, in the form of a Multimedia Audio Controller and I don't know where to look for that one either.

If ANYONE is able to help, please would you explain in non technical TERMS how I download and then install the Multimedia Audio Controller and the driver I need to go with it as well as which one I should install first.

You need the WLAN drivers directly from the laptop manuf. site...
If that driver came from Atheros you will continue to have issues.I downloaded the latest driver from official asus site but this is still happening.. "Network Controller" always failed to install whenever i install WLAN driver.. Wifi Only work if i go to device manager and select Network Adapter and scan for hardware changes..  but sometime it also failed to show atheros adapter..  Need Help Immediately..  My OS Win7 64 Bit Ultimate..

A ) get on the Internet direct wired Ethernet cable from the modem./router and forget about  wireless.
B ) Buy a low-cost Wireless adapter that  has drivers for 64 bit Windows.

Many Wireless adapters show up as network cards. Additionally, either windows or another program has to connect to the wireless router. This can take up to a minute  after windows starts.

A wireless USB adapter from a major  company will now have all drivers on a CD. And you do not need the highest speed, Even the lower speed is faster tat what you IPS will let you have. Should be under $20 for the standard model.

You never replied whether you re-installed ALL Win7 64 bit drivers or not...
There should be a WLAN driver listed but chipset drivers go 1ST...
If you have DONE all this and re-booted and it's still the same then the issue is with the router itself...yes i installed all windows 7 64 bit driver with chipset first.. CD automatically installed all those.i saw it installed chipset driver first.
Then it's the router...
Or a flakey connection...try speedtest.net see what your connection speeds are.

What i have is a pentium series machine and its certified to run on windows Vista. Im trying to re install the OS on it (Acer Aspire AM1641). The issue im getting is the face that im in the installation screen and then it asks me and quote "a required DVD/cd device driver is missing. if you have a CD DVD floppy disk please insert it now" Is it asking for a chipset driver. If so i did USE nlite to implement a CHipset driver into windows XP but it wont work for vista. the odd thing is that this machine is certified for vista. Any idea where to start? The machine to be more specific is a Acer Aspire AM1641-E3750 (M1641). i found the driver on acers site and burned it to DVD but that didnt work this is the PAGE. but i got a feeling that the url ( http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers ) nwont show the drivers to my machine.. how else can i get this sucker to work?
You'll ideally want to get the Geforce 610i SATA/RAID drivers on a USB stick, which you can then insert when it prompts you for drivers and load them off that during installation.  It's a BIT of a pain being an Nvidia chipset, but the way I would do it is as follows:
Download the 32/64 bit drivers from here or here respectively.
Save the file and then use a tool such as 7 zip to open it as an archive.
Navigate to the IDE folder, then WinVista64, and extract the contents of the sataraid folder to your USB stick.  You might want to also grab the contents of sata_ide just in CASE - it can't hurt.
Now, boot from your Vista disk, and you'll be able to load the drivers from your USB stick and hopefully continue the install.

My PC keeps crashing i look through my devices and checked the drivers but most LIKELY missed some i have attached the dump files and hopefully someone can tell whats going wrong. The dump files were just after a BAD_POOL_CALLER but was not long after a SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION. i have also had a driver_irql_not_less_or_equal BSOD. I would be very thankful if someone could help me.

gigabye has a program where you can connect you mobile via blue tooth to you COMPUTER and when you phones gets out of range the computer will sleep/suspend to save power and what not, its called auto green but i have had alot of trouble with trying to get it workimg. the program itself will not pick up any of my DEVICES i have a blue tooth dongle PLUGGED in just wondering if i need drivers or something

I RECENTLY bought a Chromebook as a REPLACEMENT for my old laptop.

Is there a way to use my Genius tablet on my Chromebook? It is pnp but it seems it doesn't work on my 'book (plug it in, and nothing happens, using the pen on the tablet does nothing).

Would I be better asking Genius directly? They don't have drivers for the CB on their site.

Hi, I am using Compaq SR1930IL desktop. Win 7 32 bit.
 CPU - Intel D 2.8GHz
 RAM - 1 GB DDR2
 Motherboard - ECS RC410-M REV:1.03
 BIOS chip - CX815399 (686 AMIBIOS 1999)
 Current BIOS - AMI V3.24

 My motherboard have 6 USB 2.0 ports (4 back side and 2 front). But when i insert any storage device then after some time it automatically ejects out and reinserts as if someone puled it out and pushed it in again quickly. Then ONE message pops out from lower-right corner of task bar saying "This device can perform faster if you connect it to 2.0 USB port". After this the R/W speed of that device goes down to 1MBps unless i physically eject it again. But all USP ports are 2.0 labeled on my CPU.

 I tried following steps to solve this :
 1. To update driver online from device manager. (Result - Best driver is already installed)

 2. Uninstalled all of them. (Result-No effect)

 3. Disabled ports showing 1.1. (Result-No change)

 4. Installed XP-Profestional. (Same problem)

 5. Tried eBLU BIOS updater for ECS. (Motherboard not supported) 

 6. Tried Driver Genius to update USB. (Driver is up to date)

 7. Reasambled  all COMPONENTS of motherboard even jumpers and CPU battery but nothing.

8. Removed my 1GB RAM and inserted my old 512MB RAM. (Still having same problem but  less)
    Motherboard operational frequency - (666MHZ - 800MHz)
    512MB RAM frequency - 666MHz
    1GB RAM frequency - 800MHz

9. Searched for BIOS in ecs website but didn't found any. Found a BIOS for RC410-M2 REV:1.X, but i afraid to flash my current BIOS with this one.

 If you see any solution for my problem then please suggest me.

Highly unlikely, but you may want to check the settings in device manager. Open device manager and find the USB hub and double click it or right-click, properties. Then look for a checkbox that says something like "enable the computer to turn off this device to save power" and uncheck it.

I just purchased a Nexview 22in touch screen for my VIDEO jukebox.My QUESTION is it works fine with a mouse but I cant use the touch screen.Is there certain drivers or SOFTWARE I need to put on here.I can not find any info on this monitor and I dont have a cd for it.

Hello, I installed Windows 7 and I'm in the process of installing drivers from my motherboard's manufacturing website. I have a P5QE mobo (https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P5QE/#support) I already boot in AHCI mode.

I have already installed the following 4 items from the site:

Under the Audio Section: SoundMAX 2000B Audio Driver V6.10.2.6585 for Windows 64bit Windows 7.(WHQL)
Under the Chipset Section: Intel(R) Chipset Software Installation Utility V9.1.1.1019 for Windows 32/64bit XP & 32/64bit Vista & 32/64bit Windows 7.(WHQL)
Under the LAN section: MARVELL Yukon Gigabit Ethernet Driver V11.10.5.3 for 32/64bit Windows 7.(WHQL)
Under the SATA section: Marvell 6121 SATA Driver V1.2.0.69 for 32/64bit Windows7.

I noticed that there is another download under the "SATA" section.
This download contains the items:
Intel(R) Matrix Storage Manager Driver V8.9.0.1023 for Windows 32/64bit XP & Windows 32/64bit Vista & 32/64bit Windows 7.(WHQL)
Intel(R) AHCI/RAID Driver Disk for Windows 32/64bit XP & Windows 32/64bit Vista & 32/64bit Windows 7.

Do I need this download? I do not run in RAID.
Also, I've heard that IMSM 8.9.0.1023 causes windows issues like disabling windows updates (https://communities.intel.com/thread/29057)

Also, are there any other drivers I should be installing (I've already installed my video card one, and all available windows updates). I also did not install my chipset driver first (it was the second driver I installed). Would not installing the chipset one first be an issue?

Not sure if this means I don't need the driver in question though.You have generic drives installed.
Always install chip set drivers first.
The chip set is fundamental to the motherboard.
But you can just Google and find that out for yourself.

And for AMD it is also true. 


There's no great need to update your AHCI driver, but if you use an SSD, it may IMPROVE performance.
The way I would do it is to download the latest version, extract the files to a folder, then right click - update driver in device manager, pointing it to the folder you extracted the drivers to.  This avoids having to install MSM or the RST application, while still giving you the benefits of the newer driver.
Bear in mind the drivers on Asus' support site are always out of date, I would therefore GRAB the drivers from the respective manufacturers' sites where POSSIBLE - so Intel for the chipset and RST drivers.  I wouldn't bother searching for newer versions of your network and sound drivers, though.

the keyboard and pc are Medion,delivered together, only a month old and it worked fine untill ms office install. I have already downloaded driver from Medion ,plus udate driver from MS.: win8 answers- driver deactivated - another driver is installed now - the best driver installed. I tried to put the old driver back but it is now unreadable/currupt even though I dowloaded new one.
 I get this ANSWER in device manager:
Windows can not start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)

there is a HID-keyboard device driver - configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)
there is a HID-compatible device driver - this is the one installed with ms office apparently
if i update/deactivate or remove - i get  HID-compatible device driver

PLEASE HELP i'm really TIRED of using monitor keyboard.That should never happen. Consider retraining the system for a full refund or exchange. A typical user should never, ever have to TROUBLE shoot a new computer over such a thing as a keyboard malfunction.
I WOULD gladly give some ideas about how to fix this, but I think it is just morally wrong for a user to try and fix something the maker overlooked.  Ask the vendor to take responsibility for your problem. I really think you shod.

Okay so, I have a acer aspire v3, 771G-9809... HID keyboard driver. I started loosing KEY functions a couple weeks ago, but it was just a couple... [backspace, enter, backslash, down/right arrows] and after about an hour the keys would magically START working again. Tried cleaning it, NOTHING. Now its getting worse, along with the original keys these don't work anymore either [shift, 689 on non number pad keys, f1-f3]... and it won't magically start working anymore.

What I have done...
-deleted and updated drivers = nothing
-virus/malware scans = nothing
-restarting multiple times, hard restart = nothing
-smashing on keyboard = nothing, but made me feel a little better...

Does anybody have ANYOTHER options for me, perhaps an alternate driver to download... Thanks. 1) I deleted your Hijack This log.

Does anyone know where I can get (preferably free) drivers for a SpeedTouch 330 Modem for 64-bit Windows 7 ?

(The modem was mnufactured by Thomson or Alcatel, who have since become Technicolor: the Technicolor website isn't any use on the topic)

Microsoft tell you that no such driver exists.  I have spent some time trawling the web and found only old information, the most likely being a thread on http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/4272-63-thomson-speedtouch-windows (Feb 2010) in which Saran008 says "Run 'SpeedTouch330seriesR4.0.0.5.exe' and install the driver , when it freeze searching the device go to the device manager , update the driver , search automatically for the driver. "  'SpeedTouch330seriesR4.0.0.5.exe'  is a link which takes you to the Technicolor website.

Another suggestion was to use the Vista 64-bit drivers in compatibility mode (www.speedtouch.com)

I have read, though, (generally) that installing the wrong drivers can cause IRREPARABLE damage to your PC.

I'd be happy with "unofficial" drivers long as they worked and were safe and free from malware  and adware.

Does anyone have any suggestions or comments on these matters ?

I CLEAN installed Windows 7 Ultimate, installed DRIVERS and still have no wireless adapter. After REINSTALLING the driver i realized the install doesm't finsh, closes out about 10% of the way through where it says the Ralink InstallShield will guide me through the rest.

If it's onboard wireless you should use the one from the MBoard manuf. site...I've downloaded and installed two from HP. not sure what the difference is. I'm not sure how to find both the mobo manufacterer or the driver on their site...I THINK I forgot to install the broadcom one now that I think about it...That didn't do anything. Not sure if it finished either. No confirmations scares me. Some drivers rely on the MBoard chipset drivers being intact...
You COULD also try that...re-boot and re-install the Network driver again.

Yes, i have tried enabling the bluetooth but i can't find anything relating to it on the computer. I've downloaded Bluetooth stack and filter package from Toshiba, installed them yet i couldn't find anything.
I, honestly, don't know which bluetooth device is not working. It seem to be all to me.

I have another question. How can you disable the commands that comes with the FUNCTION keys (as it is in my laptop e.g F3 is for turning the screen's brightness low and so on) in other to use the original shortcuts especially in Microsoft Word?

Let's STAY with one question.
When you have the Bluetooth stack, an item will show on the desktop. Wait for it.

Find  the "Bluetooth symbol" on the Satellite's desktop and double-click it. An applications menu will open; when it does, click "Connections and Settings" then "Bluetooth Discovery Mode."

Turn on your external Bluetooth device and enable the Bluetooth connection.
Click "Enable." This will turn on your Bluetooth

Using Bluetooth is  different that Wi-Fi. You don't see a list of devices found.  Instead you have to provide a code to identify lour device. You will type a pass code on the Bluetooth keyboard. Once DONE, it should lock in every time on start up .

Bluetooth devices are normally used for short range.
The method is BASICALLY simple and painless, but not always obvious.

I just got a new computer yesterday (a HP Envy - not sure which model exactly) and I haven't downloaded anything in particular except for AVG and 3 games and Firefox (and a few other minor things and DirectX and such)

Whenever I try to open a game, I get the error "0xc0000007b". It cannot open any games I've got.

When you say you just got the computer, please explain the computer's background. Is it new, did someone give it to you?

You just installed an AV. If it was given to you, did the prior own it run it without an av?

Then I suggest you exchange it under warranty.

I have an acer aspire 5050 im working on. Acers webiste provided drivers but the graphics driver and wifi still dont work. Using PCI DATABASE it told me that the card or chip was an ati xpress, the computers stickers and online SITE say its an xpress 1100, while everst home edition said it was the ati xpress 200m. Well i;ve tried all those drivers and it still wont accept them. any ideas? am i doing something wrong or whats going  on?

I have compaq PRESARIO c700 laptop.

USB ports are not working in windows.but it is working in BIOS.(e.g usb keyboard.)

I thought that it would be windows problem so I planned  to install new os. Cd drive doesn't work.so I have only option to install through usb.

When I try to install os , after I click INSTALL Button I got ERROR "A required cd/DVD drive device driver is missing..." ..what should I do now ?

Note: first my all USB ports did not work suddenly .then I gave my laptop to SERVICE centre. They told that USB ports are shorted and they only made ONE port to function. But that too working in bios only. Pls see the error I got.

Let me say something.
The presario c700 has a resale value of maybe $190 if it is in top condition. So what I am saying, repainting that laptop is a poor investment, unless you get a warranty with the repair work.

The USB electronics is part of the chip set of the motherboard. Replacing the chip set is near impossible, except in the FACTORY. And in the factory they don't want top do it. It is labor intensive and nobly justified on very valuable motherboards.

You might  buy a used motherboard from eBay for about $35. But I would not recommend it. Replacing a motherboard is  a real job.

My HP notebook PC out of nowhere started freezing up on normal startup. You can use the mouse and keyboard for roughly two minutes then they FREEZE and the only way to use this computer is thru SAFE mode (back to basic drivers) I have tried several attempts at system restore with no luck. Tried uninstall mouse and keyboard drivers and REPLACING. ..no luck. Im not sure what else I can do. I ran full virus and malware scans and found nothing. My EX did at one point have a keylogger on my pc which I caught in the act of her using. Since then I believe I uninstalled it (but this was over a month ago). Any suggestions or fixes would be greatly appreciated. I have windows 7 by the way.

but before that try to use external keyboard and mouse? check is it same ?
also try to install graphic drivers

Hello! After I put a second monitor on my laptop, I was not able to play Airmech and also SOLDIER Front 2. I have completely disconnected the monitor, MADE sure the monitor was listed on my devices (Right Click-Resolution-Only Laptop Screen there). The error for Soldier Front 2 is "Video Card does not meet minimum specifications! Device does not support pixel shaders 2.0 or greater. And for Airmech It is an error that says I don't have DirectX Compliant Video card. If I search DXDIAG in search, I GET the menu up and it says I have DX 11. I have also been able to play BOTH games but they no longer worked after the second monitor.

Try reinstalling your graphics drivers, sounds like a driver issue to me.If this problem isent FIXED yet may i refer to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9W6PdJn3kKA, might just be a setting in the game.

Using Exployer 9 & I been having to constantly to use windows NETWORK dianostics tool to delete one of two local network connections network 6 & unidentified. I GUESS I will post this here. Kodiac from the IRC chat told me to post my problem on the website. Anyways, I have a Bose SoundLink Mini(Bluetooth Speaker). Device has a MicroUSB, ONLY used for updating the firmware on the device. Bose provides some sort of software to update their bluetooth speakers http://worldwide.bose.com/downloads/en/web/bose_bluetooth_speaker_download/page.html . Application starts, installs a driver(For the application itself I believe?) and then asks me to initiate the USB connection with the device and the computer. First time it shows the device as the Bose SoundLink mini(When searching for a driver) but then fails and has it installs as some sort of "Generic Bluetooth Adapter" which has an exclamation mark with no way of find a solution using the troubleshooter. My motherboard is an Asus P8P67 DELUXE and has an Atheros bluetooth device(listed as Asus Bluetooth, alongside Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator(Points to the Asus Bluetooth)). I would assume I am not trying to install a bluetooth driver for this device, but rather a usb driver so the application can detect and update the device. Where can I find a solution(Driver download(Not the download I listed) or a way to fix my problem)?

I tried this using a Windows 7 x64 Desktop. I also have a laptop running Windows 8.1 I could try(Maybe the driver search feature(Windows update) would find a Bose driver?)

EDIT: Forgot some extra info. The Generic Bluetooth Adapter is listed as Location 0 (Port_#0003.Hub_#0002) . The ASUS Bluetooth is Port_#0007.Hub_#0004 . The Microsoft is listed as "on ASUS Bluetooth". Hope this might help...

The driver package at http://worldwide.bose.com/downloads/en/web/bose_bluetooth_speaker_download/page.html is suppose to be the application to use from the manufacturer, tough it never detects it, probably explained by the failing driver install.

Normally this would be FIXED by downloading the standalone driver and INSTALLING manually but bose does not seem to provide this service.

Also, there are some successful installs in forums out there that seem to indicate that the driver needs an up-to-date bluetooth stack to install properly, but it didnt seem to be possible since theunleet did not have a broadcomm compatible bluetooth device on his computer.

If this is a dell computer, dell.com has all the info and drivers  needed for each computer model the sell.

Type dxdiag in START > run and then a windows will pop up. to the the video tab and see what type of graphics you have. Then POST here or on Google and download the correct graphics driver from the website. if this is a prebuilt computer, usually the COMPANY that makes it has all the drivers needed for it on their website.What is the make and model of your computer please?His 3rd post on this issue...and still no info on the system or card.

I got an Asus G75VW with gpu 660-Notebook series with 660M model. I need an update for my NVidia gpu. Currently I've been using 327.23 but I now need 331.65. When I am installing I do a clean update, but as soon as it's finished with removing the old drivers and start installing the new, an error message pops up saying that the installation failed to install. Is it anything I can do about this?

Third time I'm trying this and after a couple of restarts it does not apply the new gpu. I’m really starting to get a bit frustrated. Oh, and I got a WIN8, bought under 12 months ago. I have had no other issues than this with any other installation.

Have done a RESTORATION two times now (from where it was before updating) and it goes right back to the same standard it was. Aka working fine, but not updated yet.

Any suggestions that i can might can do that will get this problem away? (updated and working fine again)

PS: When i reboot after a failed installation i get a PnP screen (640x480) which is really annoying. Will be sending the computer back to the manufactor within a month if this problem keep occurring.

2) Laptop drivers should be obtained ONLY from the website of your laptop manufacturer.Bought Battlefield 4 today and for gameplaying in that particullar game, i "need" the newest software update from geforce. As of the update software i first tried to install it directly from geforce.com/drivers - 660-series, 660M. Which did not work. After a quick restore to the point i haven't installed it yet, i tried to install it from the website of asus (an older version though) and this did not work eighter.

Perhaps my post above wasn't clear. Drivers for laptop components should be downloaded ONLY from the website of the laptop manufacturer.So what i was trying to tell in the previous post was that i have updated my gpu from nvidia's website. THEN i restored it again (because it wasent working properly) to the point BEFORE i had installed the software from that particullar website.

I THEN installed it from Asus's website with the PROPER software. Which did not work. Im left to wonder if this have anything to do with the failed installation, SINCE i restored it to the point BEFORE trying to install the "proper" software.

Obtained the driver from were you are referring to, so yes.

I did roll back the driver in DM, and this did not work unfortunately.

Will try to install 8.1, if not i'm doing a FULLY and utterly restoration of win8. I'm sure that manufacturers want their beloved Asus back, that's why they are doing this to me.

Thanks for the reply!  I believe there is also something wrong with 331.65.  On my desktop with dedicated graphics card, was notified of the update by nVidia updater.  After it downloaded the update, the installation stalled in the middle; couldn't even exit the install.  I immediately reinstalled a Macrium Reflect update from the previous day.  I wouldn't touch 331.65 after that.  331.58 is no problem for me.
Seems like many are having problems with recent updates.  Google this:  "nvida 331.65 problems".Update: Could not install win8.1 because of my PnP-screen (640x480) the app would not even run.

What i did next was to transfere any important content to a portable hdd and run a complete restore (back to manufactor settings) and this worked perfectly. Automatically installed the lastest software including 331.65. Only downside is that i now have to transfere all my data back, but this does work! Installed win8.1 and now i got it running as normal again.

Was hoping there could be an easier way to do this, but as i could not come up with anything else this is what i ended with. Works for me atleast, anyone who plan to do a complete restore, please do remember to take any important backup before doing this.

It is a LPT scanner and was used with older OS, like Windows 98. It has a 25 pin connector and does not work with a USB  adapter. (As far as I know of.)

The UMAX site claims to have the driver, but they don't. What I have found, so far, is rather sketchy and does not help.

In SHORT, my regular scanner quit and this was in my junk room.

Whenever I do a SEARCH, all it get are those *censored* sites that promise but FIRST want MONEY. 

So, has anybody jeer ever used any of the Astra scanners?
Again, it is UMAX Astra 1220P scanner for a parallel printer port.

It seems that the model I have is bad news. The protocol is very odd and hard to install in Windows XP. So I am going to go look in my junk room for something else.

I have accidentaly deleted my USB port drivers because none of the usb ports register my KEYBOARD or mouse when I get to the windows login screen. however if i open the BIOS on startup they both work. I don't know how to fix this because when I get the startup repair screen and it asks me to restore my computer to an earlier working stage i can not use my mouse or keyboard to click on yes. Also I do not have any Ps/2 keyboards/mice if that makes a difference.

The other alternative is have your builder friend over to assist.I have a dvd but when I startup the computer using the dvd it gives me 2 options:
1) AMD AHCI/RAID WinXP Driver
2) FreeDOS command prompt

Which one do i choose?Don't boot to it...boot 1st then open Win Explorer and locate the chipset drivers and install them.I can't open win explorer because i can't use my mouse and keyboard once its booted upIf it's Win7 then boot to safemode...tap F8 repeatedly at powerup...don't wait for the Win logo...

First. I have updated to WINDOWS 8.1 Today and since it, I have no idea about how to install the drivers of my Radeon HD 6000 Series. I use the DriverSweeper to eliminate all the previews version (incompatible now) and the CCleaner to fix the registers. After a CLEAN UNINSTALL of the previous drivers, I try to install the new ones (http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/mobile?os=Windows%208.1%20-%2064) and when they are installing the DRIVER the screen goes White.

It stays White forever and I cannot do ANYTHING. And ATI Catalyst isn't installed.

Do you have any idea about what to do to avoid that permanent white screen while installing the Drivers?

They are the same. I mean, I have tried like 5 different drivers, and the same happens. All is like going well... but the when the drivers are installing it happens. In addition, If you see the date of the drivers in Alienware website are from 2011... There wasn't windows 8. I really would like to know why the drivers like "check" my graphic card and is like they disconnect and I cannot see anything except the white screen.

I want to install the driver of a D-Link DSL-200 modem. But installer tells:
"The DSL Modem is already installed. To upgrade the SOFTWARE, you must remove the current software and then run Setup again later."
This USB modem driver has a particular way for install. The modem should not plug into computer until the wizard tells to do this (in the one of ending steps); and then, it tells to plugging in the modem for finishing install.
I think that I have plugged in it and done something before starting install as above; and for this reason some registry and/or files are made, without completing install.
I used its driver remover from D-Link website, but problem remained. I think I have to find and delete existing registry and/or files of driver, but I do not know how. 
Please help me for RESOLVING this problem.   

O.S:  Windows XP SP2

As was stated above to the OP you need to DLoad and install your Chipset drivers from the MBoard manuf. site...chipset drivers 1st...re-boot...then all additional drivers.

I've got a problem with my Dvd Drive, whenever i insert a Game disk into the drive, it starts humming strangely, like it fully reading the disk before powering down, along with this, the drive doesn't read the game disk while it reads all other Cd and Dvd disks normally, why is this?Is it just one disk it has problems with?  Does that disk work in other drives?  If it doesn't work in any drive, it's likely the disk has a scratch or a fault somewhere.  If it works on other drives but not yours specifically, it sounds like some sort of incompatibility.  I had this problem with a Crysis disk, it would read very SLOWLY or not at all on my DVD drive, but worked fine in another one.no, it's all game game disks that i own once use after i've installed them, except for two recent ones i've just bought that don't run at all i've had them into cleaning and buffing with no results, only Music CD's and Movie DVD's workTime for a new DVD drive then...their lifespan has gone down dramatically thru the years...I agree.  As far as I remember, data DVDs, like game disks, are OFTEN the first type of disk to become UNREADABLE when the laser starts to die on the drive.  Other DVDs will become unreadable later on, and CDs sometimes REMAIN readable for a little longer.  Fortunately DVD drives are cheap enough that replacing them isn't a great expense.If i get over 2 years out of the new ones i consider myself fortunate...I can count on my fingers the number of times I've used an optical drive in my own machine in the last 3 years or so.  I'm only including one in my upcoming build because I don't have anywhere to easily place an external drive for the rare times I would use one, so it makes more sense to have an internal one.
Saying that, I had two Samsungs in my first self built PC that, as far as I'm aware, are still working although I don't own them any more.  My Pioneer died after a year, and I had a LiteOn for 2 years or so before I gave it to a FRIEND and I think that too is still working fine.The longest lasting one i still use is a TDK lightscribe burner...probably 5 + years and going...

I RECENTLY installed Windows 7 64bit on my laptop, which was previously 32bit, and I now have a problem with my Network Adapter's driver.

When I go into Device Manager or System Information, the Adapter's Type says "Not AVAILABLE".

I have a Mecer Laptop, Model : W76CU.

Windows is not booting.. So how can i boot windows in safe mode.

Have a dell vostro 200, win 7 ultimate.  Usb mouse WORKS fine, but usb keyboard does not.  I can't type anything from it,  but I can get into safe mode with f8.  In safe mode also, the keyboard doesn't work for typed input.  What's going on
Have you tried a different keyboard to see if its the system or the keyboard?Also does the keyboard work on other PC's ? ?
Keep in mind with many laptops for an external to work properly the onboard keyboard needs to be dis-abled...have you tried that ? ?I did try the keyboard on another computer and it works, just not on this one.  The. Strange thing is the usb mouse works but not the usb keyboard, so I would think its a driver issue.  But it can't be, cause both devices are usb.  Anyway, after reloading the operating system, everything worked. Weird!!!
Kinda a drastic maneuver...but glad it worked.

I have a big problem:

When I turned my PC on today I noticed an image problem when maximising a window, later found out it was the whole screen that is offset. (safe mode picture in attachment) When I could normaly repair this with no problems with the catalyst control center, I restarted the pc first (for another reason, not related), but then my screen was a train wreck. The whole screen was moved 1cm to the left (the 1cm showed up on the right side) and the taskbar was half outside the monitor. I tried to fix it with catalyst but it only made things worse as the screen went out of range (monitor says unsupported i think).
So then i went to safe mode and tried to reset CCC to factory settings. Well for some reason it cannot start in safe mode so i deleted the settings manually.
The problem still persists and I have no idea what to do else. I have no screenshots of the wrecked screen as i thought it will be an easy fix...

1) What type of computer and display (lcd, rgb) do you have?
2) Why can't you start in safe mode? What happens when you try?Of course I can start in safe mode, this is where I am typing from right now. Nad from where I tried to reset the CCC.

Intel Core 2 Duo E7300 2.66
AMD Radeon HD 7750 2GB Sapphire
6GB RAM
Windows Vista Business, Service pack 2
I cant check CCC version since it cannot start in safe mode.

What happens in safe mode:
-computer starts normally but revs fans alot more than in normal mode for some reason

What happens in normal mode:
-computer starts fine, windows boots and loads up the the logon screen when the monitor goes something along the lines of "input unsupported / out of range"


EDIT: Ok just when I tried to check for monitor specs (it auto OSD locks) and unlocked it the picture corrected itself in safe mode. I will test in normal mode, wait for replyOkay the problem still persists

I have mo idea what the other stuff you asked me for is because i have no clue about monitors at all.Try changing the refresh rate to both Horiz & Vert the same - either 65Hz or 60 Hz, doesn't matter  (though you seem to be within acceptable parameters right now). If that doesn't do it, try changing the refresh rate. You can change all the settings from Windows Display settings instead of CCC if necessary (right-click on the desk top and choose "Properties" or "Display" - I forget which it is in Vista).

And your first post SAID: "Well for some reason it cannot start in safe mode" - I mistook that to mean the computer would not boot to safe mode. I now realize you meant CCC wouldn't start in safe mode. BTW, you can always uninstall the DRIVER and reinstall it laterYes i meant the CCC. I also went and wrote down exactly what it says when i try to boot normaly:
"INPUT NOT SUPPORT"
English isn't my first language, but shouldn't that be "input not supportED"?
For the other thing, on Vista its Personalize I know what you mean for me to do, but I cannot, i have no other options with display settings than the ones I already have (pic in attachement). I cant change the refresh rate without CCC, but that one WONT start...
Are you sure reinstalling the driver will help? Wont it just put my gpu out of commision and give me no picture at all?

1. Uninstall old drivers via Control Panel -- ATI Catalyst INSTALL Manager -Windows installer is not accesible in safe mode! Can i do this manualy somhow?

This thing broke 3 GPUs (still in warranty) and a PSU already and i had to repair the boot sector 2 times. The next sensible thing would be upgrading to windows 7.

Ok so as the Title states. Im trying to find a way to Flash my WiFi USB dongle (i got some of them) to use with my NEW LG smart TV. As it only accepts its own brand of USB dongle LG AN-WF100, Im trying to find a way arond this by making my third party dongle "Act" as the one in question that the TV can recognize. So my question is:

Is it possible to make my Third-party Dongle act as the LG AN-WF100 by Changing its ID number or something making the TV recognice it?

And as a followup question:

Is it worth doing this if compability is the Issue making it unusable if done wrong?Simple answer is NO.

So I thought it must be the TV. I called LG and they gave me a repair shop in my area. They came and went through the same procedures I did -- with the same result. There may be some economic advantage of the company using a special design for a wireless dongle. The make money on it. That wo0uld mean they will make strong efforts to stop you from do a 'hack' of a cheap[p USB wireless

If the above is true, forum rules prevent me from telling  how easy it might be. Nor could I tell you how to buy one made by a company that wants to rip-off the LG TV  broadcasts. But In really don't know for sure.

There is a real problem with rip-coif clones. Besides being maybe illegal, the quality suffers. So can you just flash the thing yourself? Well, the clone goes for about $20 from a store  I will not name.  But from LG it is about $70. You can think about it. What is your time worth.

Also, How do you kn ow the USB can be flashed? Have you done it? Do you understand the cost difference between the programmable and ROM devices? Are you a software engineer? Are you going to clone the LG firmware?

For reasons above, I doubt you could do it. But then, I have not meet you fact-to face. Perhaps you  are a genius.

Above is a programmable wireless dongle. Do you have one? Actually, they are not very expansive, nut for the money you buy the one already made and trust it will work.
