Solve : PC records & plays audio cd, but wont play in other players?

Answer»

For the first time I recorded an audio cd on CD-R, & plays back on windows media, but will not play in auto or home player. Are you sure you burned it as an audio disc?
Try burning it at a slower speed and try different brands of recordable discs.
Some CD players are PICKY when it comes to recordable media.
did you tell the PROGRAM to finalize the disc or did you LEAVE it open? most cd burn programs GIVE you and option to leave it open for more MUSIC or ask you to finalize the cdI did think about finalizing, I know you have to do it for dvds, but not cds. I'm useing Windows media player, & do not see that option. I returned the cds, was told to get the 70 min. 650 M as they are more compatible, they dont carry those in the stores, but have a few on ebay.

Solve : Installing Driver For Keyboard?

Answer»

hey guys,

I have just bought a new computer and it came completely blank and after putting Xp and what not on it, it came to install the driver for my keyboard (you know to use like vol+ and vol- etc) the driver came on a floppy DISK. But the problem is that i dont have a floppy drive in my computer. So i tried putting the floppy disk in my old computer and copying the files ONTO a USB, but it says that the floppy disk isnt formatted properly.

So i tried downloading the driver from the interent, it DOWNLOADED properly and what not. But when i went to install it they asked me for an activation code, and to get it i have to txt the words "EN FIC" to 19756666. Didnt sound to safe to me.

I just want to know how i can get the driver to install without txting foreign numbers.

The keyboard model is: KB-1616 Slim MULTIMEDIA Keyboard

Cheers.Did you try here: http://www.pctronix.com/home-page.php?m=productos&a=driver_manual&prod_id=45

Solve : Rom Reading Problem?

Answer»

It seems my dvd/cd-rom is stuck in 'burning mode', I cant actually get it to read any cd I put into it. The cd doesnt spin inside it, but I dont believe that its a hardware issue. I havent actually burned a cd before, nor am I trying to, just want to install some software. When I go to properties > Recording TAB and uncheck the Enable CD recording on this drive and try to open the drive it says to insert a disk into the drive, which I put in and doesnt seem to take notice that its in and still doesnt spin.

Any HELP? Thanks.Tell us a bit more about the situation.
When did the drive stop reading discs?
Why don't you think it's a hardware problem?
What happened? Did you install or remove any hardware or software?
Could you provide us with a brand name, model number and age of the drive?
Version of Windows on the computer?

To be honest though, If discs doesn't spin at all when you insert them it sure sounds like a dead drive to me.
Running Windows XP, havent had to install anything new for a few months so I am not sure when it stopped working EXACTLY, but it wasnt in this 'RW' mode when it was working, in that time things that I think could have messed with it was magicISO. Its a sony drive, though im not exactly sure what model, had it for probably 6 months, but hardly used it so not sure how it could just die enless THATS just what they do.Have you ran any Daemon tools or CD Drive EMULATORS in that time frame ? ?

Solve : RealTek NDIS Driver for RTL8169S chipset which will work with Ghost 2003?

Answer»

Looking for a driver that will work with the RealTek RTL8169S chipset which is on a Linksys EG1032 Gigabit NIC. The DOS DRIVERS supplied by both Realtek ( RTEGBND2.119_EXE69 version with the RTGBND.dos driver ) which according to Realtek as being the correct DOS/ NDIS driver for that chipset, fails to load the DOS drivers and my screen from the Norton Ghost 2003 Peer-2-Peer network boot disk looks like this, with a blinking cursor:

Starting PC DOS...

_

When using the Packet driver from Linksys directly off their website as well as off the BUNDLED driver CD, in which I am using the Packet Driver EG1032v3.com for DOS, I get the error message below:

Starting PC DOS...

EG1032v3-DOS-1: The LSL is Not Loaded

( then ghost starts from the boot disk, but there are no network drivers installed, due to the LSL Faliure )

I contacted Realtek and Linksys and their support was extremely worthless!!!! I kept having to remind them that when I was talking about Norton Ghost 2003, that this software runs in a DOS environment. They kept THINKING I was trying to run the adapter in a Server 2003 environment and even after I corrected them, they were still clueless.

So I figured I would post my problem here to see if anyone else has dealt with this problem before with trying to get DOS Network Drivers for Norton Ghost Boot Disks, and might be able to point me in the right direction to getting the NICs to operate under DOS, maybe with a generic driver, or other Realtek driver that has been KNOWN to work between other chipsets.

Thanks,

Dave

Solve : Pair of unkown devices?

Answer»

Hi!
I have a simple, common problem, but not finding the solution is driving me insane.

Over the weekend, my PC was ACTING real strange & I decided to reformat XP PRO MCE.
Looking in device mgr, I am left with 2 UNKNOWN devices...
I have this Other devices branch opened with yellow question mark
Just below it is PCI Device (with question & exclamation mark), & just under it is Unknown device, also with question & exclamation marks.

Odd thing is I have only 2 pci device in all in this comp. an EAX1600pro graphic card & a SB audigy4 audio card, both of which reports fine under their respective category in device mgr.

I am at my wits end trying to have a clean device mgr...update:
I have found the unknown device; it was ACPI driver for ATK 0110 virtual device on the ASUS dwld site.

As for the last problem device, I have it cornered down, but can't seem to grab it anywhere. I use this << Unknown Devices (by Halfdone Development) >> program to GET info about it.

It's listed as: PCI Device Acer Labs Incorporated (ALi/ULi) M5461 High Definition Audio Controller MADE by Asustek Computer Inc.

I find nothing over at ASUS, nor at Google... Have you tried to download the latest drivers for your sound card and install them. Based off the description of what Halfdone finds it sounds to me that it's related to the sound card, on-board sound card (motherboard chipset), and/or some type of decoder card.Hi,
yes for both of my pci device, I downloaded & installed their respective software already. I could be wrong, but I believe that the <> is an onboard thingy from my motherboard (asus p5rd2-vm), therefore its not vital as I dont use neither graphic or audio from motherboard, but the add-on eax1600pro & audigy4...

Because it may affect the operation of other devices even though you don't use it you should re-install your MBoard drivers from the driver CD that shipped with the machine...

Solve : problem saving photos to disk?

Answer»

Please can someone help? Every time I try to do this,it says there's no dosk in the drive when there is! I'm not very techinical so please could anyone explian very simply? I have Windows XP and I've bought some Kodak DVD-RW disks

Thanks

LottiIn order to save something to discs you need a DVD burner drive.
Do you have one and if yes which one?
And how are you trying to save the files to the disc?I'm just using whatever came with windows /the computer when I got it,will there not be a DVD burner drive there?? I'm not sure what you mean, "how" am I trying to save them?. Sorry-I did say I don't have a clue what I'm doing. Could you tell me your computers brand name and model number. Then I check if it came with a DVD burner.

You can also try looking at the front of the DVD drive. Burners usually have thing like RW and DVD r / rw written on them.
Thank you for helping. My computer is a desktop Dell Dimension 3000 . I can't see anything written on it.Since Dells can be bought in many different CONFIGURATIONS I will need you to go to the support site at Dell here. Enter your service tag (should be located somewhere on the computer) and click System Configuration Information to see what hardware was installed from the factory. Also under System Configuration Information you can click Current System Configuration if you're unsure whether any hardware have been changed or added.

Copy the parts lists into a reply here so I can have a look at them.Thank you,I've done that and this is what it shows ;

Unless the DVD drive have been replaced after the computer was purchased from Dell you have a Toshiba DVD-ROM drive. A DVD-ROM drive will only read CDs/DVDs it is not capable of saving to CD/DVDs.

Fortunately DVD burners are very cheap (starting at $25-30) so upgrading won't cost you an arm and a leg.Thank you very much for your help.I'll have to buy one as I want to save my photos! You're very welcome.

Solve : dvd player and dvd-r problems?

Answer»

where to begin...

Compaq presario 6016us
windows XP sp2
ati all in wonder 9800 pro

52x32 combo drive unknown manufacturer was changed about 2 years ago
lite-on dvd recorder

ok now the problem, for whatever reason the other day I lost both dvd drivers, i found on Compaq's website to uninstall the drivers and reboot. After the reboot the found new hardware wizard CAME up, I selected to install automatic, after a minute or two it stated the hardware was not installed because the wizard cannot find the necessary software, I tried both drives in a different computer running winxp w/sp2, both were detected and installed without a problem. So after doing some research I found that if I uninstalled the IDE primary and secondary drives that might solve my problem...well now I have both drives and both IDE drives that will not install. Here is the thing that blows my mind, both drives show up on my computer and device manager as working properly, as is the IDE drives, when I click on them and click on the driver tab it is not showing any drivers? Now everytime I boot up the computer the found new hardware wizard comes up and says found new hardware for these 4 items but does not install any of them. Also something new happened today, I plug in my new mp3 player into the usb port, again the found new hardware came up and did not install, I even tried installing from the disk but windows states the files cannot be found, I tried that in the other computer and it installed no problem without the disk, someone, ANYONE please helpTry one of these two, step by step.

Solve : Computer can't find installed printer?

Answer»

I don't know if this is a DRIVER problem or a network problem - hope I'm on the right forum.

I installed a network printer (HP C4380) before Christmas. The printer WORKED fine, but the installation caused a few PROBLEMS. The automatic start-up was eating up CPU space - I changed to manual start-up in the services folder, and this was resolved. But the computer remains much slower than it was before, and I often get an error message (Device I/O, program not responding) when logging off.

About three weeks ago there was a problem with my ISP, and the ROUTER was reset. Since then my desktop, which I used to install the printer, cannot find the printer. The software is still there, but the printer doesn't appear on the list of available printers, and the Windows Wizard can't find it.

My LAPTOP still recognizes and uses the printer with no problem, though I sometimes get the same Device I/O error message.

Desktop info: Dell, Windows XP SP2, 1 GB RAM, 40 GB storage
Laptop info: Samsung, Windows XP SP2, 1 GB RAM, 40 GB storage

Can you suggest a solution? I haven't uninstalled and reinstalled the printer, because I am afraid of interfering with the laptop connection, and I need my printer almost daily for work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

First I would uninstall reboot and reinstall the printer drivers on the desktop first (make sure the printer is not connected when installing drivers – this usually works 90% of the times). If that doesn’t work try the troubleshooting steps in this link. Hope this helps.

Solve : Installing new hard drive, need some help?

Answer»

Okay, so, I'm about to install a new hard drive on my HP laptop, and I know how to actually get the new hard drive into the computer, but from that POINT things are a bit hazy for me. Basically, will I be able to put the XP installation disk in and just install Windows right after POPPING the hard drive in?

Also, the HP website is all I need to find the right drivers, I can find them all in one place, but with the fresh hard drive and the clean Windows installation... will I be able to just access the Internet immediately, or will the wireless modem in my laptop need drivers to function, also? Once I can get on the Internet, I should be fine, but it's getting there that has me worried.

I'm hoping this will be pretty simple, and I've been trying to find some info about this, but all guides I've found assume you're transferring your data between hard drives, which I am not. I can get the new hard drive in, but after that point I'm not EXACTLY certain what I'm going to need to do.You should download the necessary drivers before you swap hard drives. Save them to an USB drive or something like that. The Wireless NIC will most likely need drivers so by doing it this WAY you won't be stranded without an internet connection.
If the hard drive is a SATA drive you may also need a driver in order to even be able to install XP. So tell me if that's the case and I'll tell you what you need to do.

Else it should simply be a matter of swapping the hard drives and inserting your XP install disc. Just make sure the laptop is configured to boot from the CD/DVD drive.

Solve : Nvidia 7600GT problem?

Answer»

I have had my new video card for a YEAR and no problems until recently. Whenever I boot up the yellow exclamation mark appears next to my driver for my display adapter so I update reboot ad the same problem again and again. How can I get the PC to keep my settings.
I have windows xp sp2 32.Uninstall current driver, first. Restart computer, and install new driver.Sorry that was the first thing i tried. STILL the same problem.Physically remove the card and do a few COLD boots.
Then REPLACE the card making sure it is seated properly and re-boot and re-install the drivers.
As always when working inside the case make sure all power is removed.
Was this video card having issues prior to this ? ?ok i will try that. No problems whatsoever before. I was wondering if somehow the BIOS or registry setup has been affected somehow recently?OK just spent another hour doing as you said Patio but the problem persists.
What about a bios or registry problem. Could sthg have happened to affect either or both of these? If you have tried an updated driver revert back to the one that SHIPPED with the card...
If still no joy joy install it in another machine to check if it has failed.

Solve : Cant delete files from CD?

Answer»

I SAVE lots of files to my CD, and I only need them for a day or so, and I cant delete them to make room for more once use files. It says its a "read only" file CD and I can only add new files, or view, but not delete.

Does ANYONE know how to help me change this read only file thing so I can delete files? Thanks.

I'm not familiar with computers, so if there's anything more you need to know about the type of comp, or CD please say so. Thanks. What kind of CDS is this?
You can only burn a CD-R DISC once. Ater the burn you can not alter it in any way. So if you're using CD-R discs there is no way you can delete the files and regain the space on the disc.

Rewritable CDs (also KNOWN as CD-RW) Can be reused. You will still not be able to delete individual files on it though. To reused it, all files will need to be deleted.

You might want to consider a USB flash drive if you need to add and delete files regularly. my suggestion is,buy another CD.Quote from: jam2xgemini on February 10, 2008, 06:52:51 AM

Solve : Video and audio card slow in gaming?

Answer»

OK,

I hope this is where this goes.

My son is really "into" gaming and with my oversight I have allowed him to "get into the game". BUT, I am trying to figure out;

A. What type of video and audio card we have, so we can purchase appropriate games.

B. Why the audio is delayed. That is the way it is for all the games.

C. Why Video and audio is slow on many things, but not others.
Slow on Games and You Tube - But NOT on local news videos, and not on DVDs or home videos.

What I have done so far:

I moved all files and photos to a brand new external hard drive and I then took my computer to be "cleaned" and reinstalled,. BUT the audio is STILL delayed.

Here is the information about my computer:

Purchased in 2003. Yes I know it is old, and that may be the issue. But, before I go out and get another computer, I want to see if there is anything I can do.

HP - Pavilion
Intel Pentium
4 CPU 2.40 GHz
2.39 GHz, 504 MB of RAM
7.4 GB of DISK space

The computer came with a basic set up that included works and other basic programs, but I am now running Windows XP.

Well, I hope I followed all the rules.

So, what does a Mom do? :-) And how can I help my son have more fun in his fun? (and my fun too!)

PS: If his grades drop - this will not be an issue. :-)

I read the thread for "liambiscuit" and tried all he is doing,

I went to Control Panel to see programs downloaded and Everest was not there. So I did not have to remove it.

It shouldn't matter but you never know. Try downloading it again.OK I tried it again.

I even tried it from one of the other links under.....

"Free download from"

And it is still corrupted.

What do I do now?

If you have a good setup on your computer, is it possible to email me a copy of the good program? <<e-mailing programs - this may be a dumb suggestion>>>Try here:

OK for all other NOVICES this is what I was doing compared to what I should have been doing....

From the "Geek" link I was selecting "save" on computer right away -
That was not working...

I tried and tried different WAYS to do it and then "BAM"

I then selected "run" from the link, and then the computer did the rest to ask me all the quesitons about saving to the computer! YEAH it worked!!!

OK now I am going to do some learning real quick and we will see what we have. I am excited. This is fun. :-)HA!!!! Yeah, here is my computer!

The only thing I deleted was the computer name. Someone told me once that it could be used to get into my computer - I don't know if that is true or not - BUT I could always add it back in if it is needed.

ProblemDisk free space is only 5% on drive D:.

What is the D Drive?

I thought the most important thing is the C drive.

As you can tell I have only 202 MB of free space on the D drive and Even I know that if the D drive is important then this is a BIG problem!

But would this also slow down the audio?

OK I serached the "D drive" it is full of GSC files. I have no idea what those are. With games, this:
- Video Adapter Intel(R) 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics Controller (64 MB)
is your MAIN culprit.
You'll need to BUY real video card. Your video, is just on-board video chip with 64MB of RAM. Today's games need more RAM.
You can get decent video card with 512MB of RAM for...~$100.

Also:
- System Memory 503 MB (PC3200 DDR SDRAM)
It won't hurt to get another 512MB/1GB of RAMQuote
Problem Disk free space is only 5% on drive D:.
This is your Recovery partition, so you don't have to worry about free disk space there. Just don't touch that partition.

Solve : Headphones not working?

I have an ASUS K52F laptop. Recently I reinstalled Windows 7 and since re installation the headphones have not been working. I plug my headphones into the headphone jack and there is no sound coming into the headphones. It only COMES out of the speakers. So I go into the Control Panel and go into Sound. It says the headphones are not plugged in. I have tried GETTING drivers from the ASUS website, but that doesn't work.
Any help WOULD be greatly appreciated.Ensure that you have proceeded as per the instructions contained in the following site. If none of the issues related in the article and their solutions APPLY in your instance the 2nd page includes a Microsoft diagnostic/fix tool for sound problem issues. Solve : Is it my pc, or Windows 7? Wont read media, but will read music cds?

The computer whirs & loads media cds, nothing happens, the device manager is listed as

Also the above is unclear...are you saying you installed Win7 to this Gateway ? ?
If so did you remember to DLoad and install the Win7 drivers for the PC ? ?Windows 7 came with it, the optical drive is as old as the pc, 05Also, that is the only driver listed in device manager, should it have one that says CD on it?Optical drives havent needed drivers in a looong time...
Sounds like it's DEAD...replace it.

To TEST if you are unsure swap it into another PC...Would you please clearly define what you mean by "media cds"? Give us some examples. When you refer to "music cds" what do you mean IE: are these commercial AUDIO discs or are they something you or another person made via a computer. What is the media player you are using IE: windows media player/VLC/etc.? Do these discs (the ones that won't play) function on any other computer? truenorthMedia refers to cds you may have used, for example, one that came with your printer to load & install, a program, for example System Mechanic, or restore disc that came with the computer, ANYTHING that is for reading, & not music is referred to as media.
Windows Media Player could possibly be the problem, as all of the info was just transferred from an older Gateway to this newer one, & they have not gotten all of the bugs out of 7 yet, as I see many roadblocks with other people that have aquired 7.
This will play both commercial & HOMEMADE music cds, will not load media.
The older pc accepted both. Then in my opinion your issue is software related as opposed to hardware. Something related to your windows 7 operating system and a compatibility issue with the media software being used. Given that you have installed a version of windows on this computer (win7) that is not original to it you might want to read the accompanying article below.

Solve : Question about Drivers?

Answer»

Driver Update did a scan on my computer and it said that I had 22 Outdated or Missing Drivers. My question is in order to get my computer up to date I can purchase both of these items - (DriverUpdate and FixCleaner Windows OPTIMIZER) It guarantees your computer and all of your devices will work properly. My computer doesn't really seem to be running poorly but I've GOT an issue with outlook express. I've contacted my ISP several times and they can't find anything wrong. Part of my mail comes in through outlook and part of it will go to roadrunner, even though I've never used rr as my mail service. It sends the same message several times and I've looked everywhere and can't find a solution. Just wondering now if it may be a driver problem? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.1) There is essentially no such thing as an out of date driver. Drivers should only be updated if there is a specific need or reason to do so.

2) Registry Cleaners / Optimizers CAUSE problems, they do not cure them. Delete both of those programs - at the very LEAST, don't use them.Further to Allan's sage advice IF there ever should ARISE a NEED to update a specific driver the only place one should obtain them is from the manufacturer's site that made the hardware and they will always be free. This is a fine example of the adage "if it ani't broke don't fix it". Re your e-mail issue have you thought about uninstalling the roadrunner e-mail client via add/remove programs? truenorth Alan and truenorth (Thank you so much for your advise). I don't know that much about computers, usually when I have a problem I look for answers. I haven't actually uninstalled it, didn't know I could. It's provided through Time Warner Cable. I allowed them to view my computer and they said everything was set right. They told me to delete the account and start over, did that but it didn't make a difference. This has been going on since 10/4. My HUSBAND and I both have our computers but share networking I guess you could say but he isn't having any problems with his. He has Windows 7 and Microsoft outlook though. I have XP and outlook express. Don't know if that would make a difference or not. Thanks again to both of you...Your Outlook Express account is seperate from your roadrunner account...
Easiest way to check this is see what your e-mail addresses are for both...
If they are different than no worries...

Solve : HP mini 210-1010NR Audio not working?

Answer»

Hi people, I have an HP mini 210-1010NR running windows 7 starter, The netbook is having a lot of audio trouble. When you plug in the headphones it works fine but internal speakers don't make any sound. Under the manage audio device list it shows system sound and headphones, when I right click headphones and hit the test button, the sound will play for a couple seconds so I know the speakers work. It must be a big MIX up with the audio drivers. I restored the system to original factory settings. And even with the restore the problem continues. Any help is MUCH appreciated, Thanks!Have you tried using an external usb connected speaker to see what the sound is like. There are many available at very low cost and the sound quality is far superior to the internal speaker. Here is a LINK to one of the more popular ones (i am using this model).

but when you remove the headphones the PC speakers should work but if they don't It is possible that the built in speakers are bad.

You also could try to update the chipset drivers and the audio drivers from HP http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4062&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=4121202#N196. You may want to look in the device manager and see if there is any yellow or red symbols? You have restored the system Quote from: smf on August 20, 2012, 05:49:17 AM
I restored the system to original factory settings. And even with the restore the problem continues.
You used the restore point or restored from the hidden restore partition. I just looked at the manual is the "mute speaker light" on this is the 4th key in on the top right. Maybe the speaker were muted by mistake. Is the laptop under warranty? if all the above doesn't work you may want to consider getting USB speakers like truenorth gave you a link for.

Hope this helps you please let us know how you make out, Mike I realized sometime after my last post that i probably left the impression that the sound was transfered from the computer to the external mini speaker via a USB connection. That is not so the sound is processed through the headset audio output jack (mini stereo plug) and it is the charging for the internal battery of the mini speaker that utilizes the usb connection. However that connection need not be plugged in during operation only when the speaker requires additional CHARGE ( i believe it is at least 3 hours). Sorry if i left the wrong impression.truenorth

Solve : LG100C Tether Driver for Windows XP Home?

Answer»

Trying to CONNECT my phone to my computer with a USB tether connection so that I can use my netbook while on the road within cell towers. I haven't been able to find a driver other than suggestion that you use DataConnect software. Links to DataConnect I have found do not lead to download of this software. Guessing that I will still need the driver if using this software as well unless it has drivers bundled with it. I attached a screenshot of what Windows thinks the hardware device is. I tried searching the web for the driver with no success.

Anyone out there tethering and know what software to use?

Cell Phone is a track phone with data plan LG100C ( LG Brand )
Netbook is Toshiba NB205 - Atom dual-core with 1GB Ram and Windows XP Home SP3

[year+ old attachment deleted by admin]Just made some progress... found this LG driver here,
http://www.clockworkmod.com/tether/drivers
now XP is happy with phone connected, BUT still unable to get out to web and IPConfig/all shows no connection. Do I need to use some sort of software now to CREATE the handshake?

[year+ old attachment deleted by admin]Good evening DaveLembke

I happy that you found the driver for your phone to work with your PC. I have done this but it has been in Vista and Windows7. PLUS when I did this it was done by bluetooth from my laptop to the bloothtooth in the cell phone.

Maybe you need to disable the laptops wireless card, and run the network wizard in XP to create a new connection? I don't know just a thought. The last TIME I did this in Vista all I did was disable all of the laptop network connections. Enabled the bluetooth connection on both devices and then it was connected. I did not use any 3rd PARTY software.

Not that this makes a difference all I used was a laptop HP G60, Bluetooth adapter (USB Dongle) and BlackBerry Tourch 9800.

I know that some Companies years ago did not like it (tethering) but I checked your cell phone and it was supported so I am thinking it has to be something simple. Did you try getting the driver right from LG instead of the ones that you found?

I just found the LG PC Suite 2.0.1.15 this should have the driver also http://lg-pc-suite.soft32.com/free-download?gclid=CO7ErP2C-rECFYTd4AodFBsAqQ

Hopefully this is all you need, Mike

Solve : Format Help - Vista - No Disc?

Answer»

I've been trying to do this for about a week now with no helpful results, so I figured I'd make my own thread here to ask.

I'm trying to format my Vista to return the entire computer back to the default setting when I first bought it. There's so many different programs, games, and no telling what all else on here that the computer is running incredibly slow and I can't get rid of them all. I can't even find half of them. And some refuse to even UNINSTALL or be removed for whatever reason. So I just want to restore the whole thing to factory settings.

I bought this computer, an HP Pavillion, from Wal-Mart a few years ago with Vista pre-installed. It had no disc with the computer at all. Just the tower itself. So I can't format with any kind of disc unless I order one. I also tried hitting F11 at start up and nothing happened.

Hitting F10 at the start up for Setup didn't get me anywhere either. There were no options for tests or recoveries. Just a list of drivers with no options for any but the 3rd driver (WDC WD5000AAKS) for SMART Status Check, SMART Short Self-Test, and SMART Extended Self-Test. I don't assume those will do me any good, will they?

I also tried going through Control Panel > Admin Tools > Computer Management > Storage > Disk Management only to find my hard drive, to right click it, and to have Format as an option that's grayed out and non-selectabe.

Aside from all of that, I have no idea how to get this done. I don't want to do any tests or anything like that. I just want it formatted. Completely factory default. I know it'll delete every program I have and all that. But that's exactly what I want. There were no important files on my computer. So everything on it being lost means nothing to me.

Any help is greatly appreciated.Good afternoon Atemisc and welcome to CH

Just in case you are not aware of it you can't format a hard drive that you are currently using / logged in with.

If you are able to boot the PC normal and then you are at the desktop click on start > all programs and scroll down through the list and look for HP recovery manager or something very similar and in there you can make recovery disc set or start the recovery manager from the hidden partition.

You should also be able to reboot the PC and start it in safe mode by tapping F8 while you are booting the PC and in there it will have a option for Advanced Boot Options & Select Repair Your Computer and press Enter the options will look like this and just pick complete pc restore. This is a destructive restore mean no personal data will be saved mack sure you save all you personal information first (pic, documents, music etc) you may be prompt 2 more times just to confirm that that is what you want to do & if it is just keep on going.

It will take many HOURS to complete do not interrupt the process when you are back at the desktop then you can remove what programs you do not want. Don't forget to update windows and your anti virus etc.

Good luck and if you need anything else just let us know, Mike

Apparently I don't have it in my list. Might have been deleted from the list at some point to clear space without REALIZING it. I dunno'. Doing a search for HP doesn't show it as a result either.Quote from: Atemisc on August 22, 2012, 12:58:15 PM

So I can't format with any kind of disc unless I order one.

Is there a reason why you can't do this? Such a disk is a really handy thing to have; I would hate to run a PC without having one.

I can, but I hate to have to order one if I can do it without one, especially since I just can't stand waiting for mail. This is a once in every few years kind of thing for me. So I'm just seeing if there's a way to do it without having to order one. Getting the disc is basically just a last resort is all.Good evening Atemisc and welcome back to CH

If you can read the COA / Key sticker (25 digit long 5 groups or 5 letters & numbers) and will be similar to this if so you can borrow the DVD from someone that has the same version of windows and same bit version (32 or 64 bit). So lets say the PC came from the factory with Vista Home Premium 32 bit the disc that you would need is a OEM version of Vista Home Premium 32 bit disc and use your legal key on your laptop to install and activate.

But you will need to go to HP and download the drivers for your PC's model and windows version.

Hope this helps, Mike Actually, I don't have a laptop. Just a normal desktop. And I'm not sure what the code in the image is from.
However, I've been given another option, although more expensive. But it works well in the end anyways. I'm gonna' get a brand new hard drive and operating system. Though they'll be better than what I currently have, so I guess that'll be nice. I suppose that'll give me what I want and make it more OPEN for more possibilities.Quote from: Atemisc on August 22, 2012, 06:28:46 PM
I'm gonna' get a brand new hard drive and operating system.

If you mean a new hard drive and a new operating system install disk, then just the OS disk alone can be used to blank your existing hard drive.
I know how data deleted from your recycle bin can still be on the hard drive. So just the OS disc can make all that data disappear as well? I don't want anything left over in the hard drive after this.Good evening Atemisc and welcome back to CH

If you are going to give the OLD hard drive away or throw it out or if you decide to REUSE it as a slave drive? you can use a utility like this http://hddguru.com/software/HDD-LLF-Low-Level-Format-Tool/ just scroll down the page and look for Download Windows Installer (most people will want this option) Download Windows Executable (works without installation) just pick the one you want. If you don't like this one there are a bunch of UT like this.

That image I put in the past post I was just showing you what your COA looks like that is on your PC and if you were going to reinstall your factory OS you would need that number to finish the installation of windows. But if you are getting a new hard drive & Operating system you will just use that new COA to install the operating system.

Hope this helps if you have any questions please just let us know, Mike Quote from: Atemisc on August 23, 2012, 12:19:28 PM

Solve : can't find one of my wireless adapters?

Answer»

Hi,
I've seen similar questions but not this precise question.
I've had this HP PAVILION dv6 Notebook PC for about two years; I always noticed a quirky thing with the hidden icons on the bottom right...an exclamation point through one of them saying Intel My Wifi Technology: adapter not found. I never needed to check because I've never had problems with my wireless connection (I also have a Microsoft Virtual Wifi Miniport Adapter, it seems). Today I got curious and right clicked the icon; a blue box from intel comes up saying Network Adapter Not Found. I checked my HP Support Assistant and it says I have the miniport adapter from Intel! I pulled up Intel My Wifi Utility Help and it gives directions for "Start Intel My Wifi Technology" by going through start menu and all programs but what it tells me to look for is not there (Intel PROSet Wireless/Intel my Wifi technology).
Before, just looking at the icon with the exclamation point, I just thought this SECOND adapter was an option I didn't have; now that I've looked around I believe I am supposed to have it--but I've had the weird icon from the very beginning...this didn't happen after frying a mother board or anything.
I kick myself for not taking time to check this out while it was under warranty; I was wondering, however, if it might actually be there somewhere but I don't know how to access it.
My computer is enhanced for graphics, did not come with any disks and has a D drive for recovery.
Do you have any suggestions? There might come a time when I wish I had that second wireless adapter! Good evening giggi and welcome to CH

1St make your restore DVD's here is HP link on making them with a nice video http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&docname=c01867124#N102 But it is very easy just , click Start ( ), click All Programs , and then click Recovery Manager . Depending on the model you ill have 2 OPTIONS 1 to make DVD's (about 3-4 disks) or the media version such as a USB flash drive. ****Keep one thing in mind once you make them either version you can ONLY make one set.

So now that is over go to HP here http://www8.hp.com/us/en/support-drivers.html put in your model and download the drivers for your OS and bit version so if your OS is 64 bit download 64 bit drivers. I would go and get the most up to date drivers for chipset, wireless card etc and I would install them in that order. Unfortunately the Intel Pro wireless drivers on some wireless cards can be a pain and just do not want to be good If you are not sure how to find out what bit version you have just RT click my computer and g to properties and look up top (i.e Windows Home Premium 64 bit) if all you see is the OS name with no numbers you have 32 bit OS.

Please let us know how you make out, Mike Good evening giggi

All you would have to do is download the drivers for your chipset drivers, network card drivers (onboard NIC) the wireless drivers. Also it is a good thing that you made the disks they are very handy in-case the hard drive ever fails

I would install them in the order that I have wrote above "chipset, network card (NIC) wireless card etc and I would install them in that order". I would go into the DEVICE manager so you know what the make (manufacture) of the Network card (nic), wireless card etc "network connections" or "network adapters". If your PC came with more than 1 wireless card just download and install them both.

Hope this helps, Mike

Solve : How to hard disk master password removed??

Its big question for me that Hard disk master password how to remove?GOOD morning batlon13 and welcome to CH

Well there are windows passwords / harddrive passwords / BIOS passwords. None of which we here on CH can help you with. There are 3rd party software UT's to do such a thing.

If you do have a password on the harddrive and can not remember it you are STUCK the password is stored on a chip that is on the circuit board. I would SUGGEST to think really hard

What you are asking is illegal for us to help you with,, Sorry Mike

Solve : Video Card Driver Question?

Answer»

I am in the process of installing a new dual monitor video CARD and I am presently uninstalling the old card, however, it is giving me some choices that I do not quite know what to do. Remove all NVIDIA drivers including display OR Remove all NVIDIA drivers except display.
What is the BEST choice here? Thank you.Good evening 02bin3 and welcome back to CH

That is very hard to say because we do not know what your chipset is or if you have other hardware that depends on the nvidia drivers to FUNCTION you could also have SATA controllers / NIC card etc.

If you do know know then just remove the display drivers if you can and then do what you have to. If you do not get the choice to do just the display drivers then remove them all but siting on this side it is hard to say.

Is the new video card is it NVidia or is it ATI?

Please let us know how you make out, Mike Hi Mike,
The new video card is PNY GeForce GT 430 2048MB PCIe. I neglected to note that the choice that the computer wants to make is: Remove all NVIDIA drivers except display. Since it seems to know more than I do, do you think that this would be a safe choice to go with? On the back of my computer there is a horizontal slot with the dual monitor card with a VGA & DVI connectors, however, a few INCHES above that are VGA & DVI connectors parallel to each other & positioned vertically, that seems to be an integral part of the motherboard. The computer is an ASUS about 2.5 years old running Wndows 7 Pro 64 bit.
Thank you
Good evening 02bin3 and welcome back to CH

OK if I am understanding you correct the "however, a few inches above that are VGA & DVI connectors parallel to each other & positioned vertically, that seems to be an integral part of the motherboard" this sounds like the on-board video ports.

If your PC had only the on-board video and you are installing a PCIx card in for the first time once you install the add-on card the on-board video display will get disabled automatically.

Hope this helps. But like I said I do not know if your chipset is also nvidia. What model Asus is it. Mike It is an Asus Essentio Desktop CG5270 ( http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=CG5270-BP004-PB-R ) This link has all of the info regarding what it has. As far as the video card is concerned, I am replacing the one that is there in the lower slots. It is very noisy and the computer seems to run hot so I figured it was on its way out. I looked up what the DVI that is part of the motherboard is, and it says that it is a DVI Dual Link. Haven't a clue what that means. On a second look I noticed that it was different than the DVI connector a few inches below it on the video card. You don't need to uninstall the old drivers, Windows will ignore them if the hardware is no longer there.

Solve : Win7 drivers for old wireless adapter?

Answer»

I have an old wireless adapter (manufactured in 2004) Gigabyte gn-wbzb-m. Searched for Win7 driver for it, but so far nothinf. CHECKED the Gigabyte web-page (Search GIVES zero results). So I conclude, that there are no win7 drivers for this device.
How can I get it working on win7?Can't...without drivers.I guess u must have got one CD with your device while purchasing. Use that driver CD in your Win 7. If it is showing any compatibility issue then run it as Administrator and in Win XP sp2 mode.
If you didn't got any driver CD with your device then search for driver without including "for win 7".
If you still not finding any driver for your device then do this :
Device Manager->Scan for new device->Update Driver software (by selecting your device)->Search automatically (while your net connection is active)
or
Device Manager->Scan for new device->Update Driver software (by selecting your device)->Browse Computer->Let me pick->Chose any driver (it will not harm your HARDWARE but make sure it is working properly). You can safely IGNORE the above advice...Have you tried the last version for XP instead? http://www.wireless-driver.com/gigabyte-gn-wbzb-m-windows-drivers-utility/

Solve : Install a driver for your Network Adapter?

Answer»

Recently I purchased a new desktop Lenovo IdeaCentre K410 computer. It came with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit which I changed to Windows 7 Professional 64 bit with a clean install. When I tried to access the internet, I got the following message: Install a driver for your network adapter.
There is a disk that came with the computer that is labeled: Lenovo Win7 Drivers Pack V2.7 for Consumer Desktop
and also says: The drivers contained in this package is legally licensed ONLY when bundled for sale or use with Lenovo PC. Cannot be used on other computer.
In reading the directions in the pamphlet that came with the computer I got the impression that this was to be used in conjunction with a Recovery. I am assuming that the driver that I need is on that disk, however, being a chronically cautious type, I am leery of using it since I upgraded the OS. If I do try using this disk what do I look for to install only what is needed? Or if using it isn't recommended how do I find out exactly what driver I need and is it possible to download onto a CD with my laptop and then install it onto the desktop? Thank youYou can install drivers at anytime...
Open the CD in Windows Explorer.
The driver/s you need are LAN/Ethernet and /or WLAN.

Double cliking the correct one will start the install...re-boot after it finishes.
The Win7 Driver is PROPER for both versions of Win you have...Patio, there are 129 files on this disk and none of them are labeled LAN/Ethernet or WLAN. Many of the files are just multi digit numbers and when I hover the cursor over them, they really don't tell me anything about what the file is for.
thank you,Then IBM it seems had a bad idea...you can go to their site...choose support and downloads...then enter your Model # and OS and DLoad the ones you need.I did as suggested and found the needed file, Realtek LAN Driver h1100043.exe, and then I checked back on the Driver Disk supplied by Lenovo and found a file labeled: h110043. When I tried to run it as administrator all I got was a black window with lots of white writing that WENT flying by that said checkdir error, cannot create FAQ, unable to process, etc.
If I download the needed file from Lenovo, can it be downloaded to a Flash Drive or a CD on my laptop and then install it to the desktop from either one of those choices? Thank you,Sure...
Flash drive or CD...whatever's easiest...

PS are you viewing that CD's contents in Windows Explorer ? ?
If so and it's only numbers for file listings then Lenovo is really dumb...Lenovo is not the only one that renames driver files, Dell & HP do the same. Realtek uses integrated download files for all their chipsets (i.e. 1 file for all LAN chips, 1 file for all audio chips). Filename is Install_Win7_7061_07272012.zip
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=14&PFid=7&Level=5&Conn=4&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=falseThanks for all your help. I did manage to download the driver to a flash drive and then downloaded it to the new computer, however, when I started the computer early this morning to take advantage of my "free" time on Hughesnet in order to download all the big updates for Norton and Windows, all I got was a black screen with the words: No OPERATING System I shut it down, waited a minute & started it up again, and again it said: No Operating System. I shut it down again, waited a minute, and then it started like nothing was wrong?? I proceeded to the internet and did downloads for 2 hours (Hughesnet is SLOW) and during that time the Windows downloads and installations required multiple re-starts and it was fine. Is there a LOGICAL explanation for this No Operating System message I got or should I not look a gift horse in the mouth and forget about it?Make sure there are no memory card inserted or CD on your optical drive. As I told you in your other post, you need to change the BIOS boot order. I'm going to lock this thread since you've started a new one about this specific new problem.

Solve : Touchpad driver.?

Answer»

I have had a reoccuring problem with my touchpad. I cannot click with the touchpad or the left mouse button. This is the third time I've had this problem. I've taken it to a tech while it was under warranty and the other two times the tech said he just reinstalled the DRIVER to fix it. I've GOTTEN new drivers from synaptics and I've even tried with ones from Topshiba, but I can't seem to get the problem fixed. Is there anything I have to do aside from UNINSTALLING the driver from the device manager (restarting the computer as necessary) and then running the new driver file? I've even tried unistalling the USB drivers which didn't help. I must be missing a step somewhere. What what a tech do that would be different than that to reinstall the drivers?

ThanksIf your laptop has had overheating issues, they can often cause symptoms like this. If you installed the correct driver, the issue is either with Windows or the hardware. Try booting off an Ubuntu Live CD (ubuntu.com). If the touchpad works fine in Ubuntu it's a software/driver issue.I don't have any overheating problems and as I stated I know the problem is with the driver, I just don't understand why my reinstall doesn't fix it, when someone else's did. I really do not want to install a new OS, but thank you for your reply. Are you positive you didn't inadvertantly turn the touchpad off ? ?
This is a common switch on most laptops...you'll have to check your Toshiba Manual or look it up at their site for your Model #No, I didn't disable the touchpad. I've tried unchecking and re-checking that box and playing with the hotkey. My right touchpad button still works unless I disable the touchpad. It's just tapping/clicking that doesn't work and that too is ENABLED. Thanks.it may be that the gelpak under the keyboard has failed...how old is it ?Just over 2 years.

Solve : Help! no drivers/soft for USB modem Ktech K190.?

Answer»

Hello, I just purchased a USB 3.5G modem - model: K190 made by KTech and I need its drivers/software.
It doesn't work (except the EXTRA SD memory card capability) as it doesn't have any drivers or software on it, contrary to what the store clerk said, maybe there's a defect because I already tried it on two different laptops.
Certainly, it didn't come with any CD or manual nor can I give it back. The COMPANY doesn't have any website and there are no drivers to be FOUND on the internet.. I spent hours looking for the modem's drivers..
I would be very grateful if somebody could help me out and if possible, send me the software/driver of this modem to my email address: [emailprotected]
If somebody from this website doesn't help me, I will have to throw it away:( I paid $25 for it.. I realize that for some folks it's NOTHING, but I'm quite poor and I can't afford to buy another model..
Thank you for your time and help in advance.
Greg
Return it for a refund...I cannot because the shop didn't give me a sales slip and I forgot to ask for it:( I went back there but now this crooked seller says I never bought it from him.. Tell him you plan on reporting him to the BBB...Like patio said if you plan on reporting them to the BBB or at least say it they might try to work with you. As none of them want to be in the database as "bad businesses". I would say first off the first mistake would be buying when they have "no phone number or website". For some reason that is just a red flag to me that something is not quite right, even if the website is not paid you should at least have a phone number. Do you have the name of this clerk? It would fall under the fact that it was not the product it was said to be and thus the Better Business Bero would for sure take the filing. Here is the paperwork that you can do on line, I did this once and within a day the business called me back and swore up and down that it would never happen again. I updated the report but they asked me to "remove it", due to the fact that I said the only reason I was getting someware is it was their rep on the line and that matters to them more than returning phone calls. It seems they watch those postings more than you would think and try to do just about anything to fix a bad report (if they care about their business) If not they just forget to get in contact with you and those types of businesses don't stay around for very long as word travels fast. Did you pay with paypal and has it been less than 45 days, if so I would request a full amount back, according to paypal and their tos if it is less than 45 days you can request your money back and if they do not get back to you in a number of days you send it to paypal for them to review the claim and your money is pending well this is going on neither of you have access to it, from what I have gone through I can tell you if the other party does not reply you get your money back due to the fact they never submitted their side of the story and as you with one side that side wins well with paypal at least. That is the only reason I use paypal.

Let me know if you need help filing either, maybe a pm would work better unless the admins are OK with this post getting longer and more replay's to the subject.

https://www.bbb.org/consumer-complaints/file-a-complaint/get-started >they will forword the filling within two business days and most problems are solved within 30-days. I would still file with paypal if that is how you paid until you at least fix the problem, you can cancel a complaint but you can not file after 45 days after you send the e-payment or online payment to the business

Sorry for the long post with the details, I would be really upset right now if I were you and doing everything I know to get my cash back if the product was a fake.

Good Luck,
Nadia

Solve : How to Backup Drivers??

Answer»

I want at least to backup my internet driver so i can update my computer and stuff?

I'm formatting my computer because my dual monitor drivers is ''screwed up''
Im just tired of trying to fix it and might as well just reformat it.Just go to the website of your hardware manufacturers (or computer manufacturer) and download all the drivers you need and save them to usb drive or cd. Don't forget the chipset driver.http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/backup-your-drivers-with-driverbackup-2-windows/

Although installing the latest and greatest drivers is always best as Allan suggests, I have for example an old Pentium 4 2.0Ghz eMachine motherboard that use to be a Celeron 2.0Ghz socket 478 which has an integrated graphics driver for Windows XP Pro which is hard to come by. Windows wants to give it a generic 800x600 resolution driver, and the specific OLD driver that I found after hours of digging gives it the 1024x768 res that I need.

In addition to ghosting this system, I also used a tool called Driver Backup 2 which was free that allowed me to backup all drivers. Since then this tool also has come in handy with an old Toshiba Laptop Portege with 500Mhz P3 with graphics driver as well. So if your looking for a utility to backup all working drivers to push all known working drivers to a system after rebuild (without hardware changes ) this tool is great! In addition on the laptops I ran GoBack from an old Norton System Works package I bought years ago so that I could test out newer drivers and system changes and if it lead to disaster or slowing down of system, I could revert the system back to the prior drivers and configurations.Whoa - I never said installing the latest drivers is a good idea. On the contrary, drivers should only be updated if and when there is a specific need or reason to do so.Sorry Allan ... I took it that

Quote

meant latest and greatest drivers. Since hardware manufacturers who have good support for their products generally have a revision or two before no longer supporting updates to hardware. Sorry about the loss of interpretation Well yes, if you're going to download drivers then you should download the latest. But there are folks who always want to update to the newest release for all of their drivers - and as often as not their next stop is a support forum

As a general rule, drivers should only be updated if the new driver offers a bug fix or a specific new function or support that is needed by the user. This is truly a case of "if it ain't broke......"By "making a backup of internet drivers" i think your interest is in the drivers of your modem(s) through which you are connecting to internet.
If you are using LAN wire for internet connecting -> No need for driver backup
If you are using any mobile/Dongle device to connect -> No need for driver backup cause you already got the drivers in form of your setup files with your mobile/dongle.

In other cases there is a software "Driver Genius". You can use this to backup your drivers. Use torrents to download this software.
Hope this will help.
sir, this fourm does not aggree with software torrenting of a PAID program and is not legal, there are many free options to back up your drivers that is legal, P2P is ONE thing downloading copyrighted content is an other problem. Solve : exclamation in device manager, extra drivers too. hoping for easy fix?

Answer»

Good evening ejames82

I am not trying to be a wise guy OK like I said I couldn't remember if that one "the M52" had the 2 wire plug and yours does NOT if it did it would be by the "speaker in the front of the case" it would stick out like a sore thumb. So YO are good on that and like you I didn't see it.

OK when that error you are getting "only comes up" when 1 of 2 things get changed (1) the motherboard or (2) the CPU gets changed. The only way the fix the issue is to use the IBM "service tag / machine type changer". What I mean by this is your "machine type" is (8113-D5U) that is the machine type. And in "IBM Land" that can only be done during the BIOS flash with the service tag changer. IBM PC's are very sensitive and they do know when the parts have been changed and that is when that error comes up. If you still have the Original CPU and if it was put back in the error would go way.

I know this sound crazy but it is true, Mike

Quote from: ejames82 on August 03, 2012, 02:50:05 PM

Computer_Commando,
...there was a noticeable increase in speed when the cpu's were exchanged so the error could not have been VALID. if the error were true, it seems the computer would not work at all since the cpu would be 'ignored'...
So, the original CPU is not the Pentium-D, which is now installed?
That would explain the error message. Since you have the latest BIOS version & it gets past the BIOS & is able to boot, you'll just have to live with the error message & ignore it. You are very lucky that the Pentium-D functions in your motherboard.

...If you still have the Original CPU and if it was put back in the error would go way...
Exactly what I am SAYING here.Hello Mike and Computer_Commando,

it was quite a shocker the first time I started the computer after the cpu change/bios upgrade and saw that error message, then shortly afterward saw the familiar grub screen. of course I still felt quite nervous up until I copied files from an exterior hard drive at over a Gb per minute where the pentium 4 was considerably less than a Gb per minute. I knew at that time the operation was a success, regardless of the error message. the pentium D was indeed superior.

I have no problem living with the error message, nor the exclamation points in device manager (as I said before, I will try to relocate pci cards the next time I do maintenance on the pc) the computer works fine. I also did an eset online scan which detected nothing.

my wife has proceeded to reclaim her computer once again.

Thanks to everyone that replied. I am now using a Pentium D 3.0GHz. I don't find it that much faster than my old Pentium 4-3.0GHz, however, the motherboards are different, but the drives are the same. For some reason, the Pentium D runs 20-30degC cooler, but all the data & blogs say it runs hot. The cpu fan is just the stock Intel one. It normally runs 30-40degC, now the graphics card will run 40-50degC.

Pentium D Socket 775's are pretty cheap, about $19-37. Pentium 4's are down around $10.Computer_Commando,

since it's the computer that my wife uses, trying to monitor temperatures with a program such as speedfan is useless. I do, however, pull the computer out and clean the dust out every four months and she knows it's for her own good. from my occasional use of the computer and PAYING attention to the fan's activity, I would declare that the computer stays in the safe temperature range. I have become accustomed to recognizing the erratic behavior when a computer starts to overheat, because when I have seen this the first thing I do is open the case and check for dust buildup. this computer has behaved consistently good since the cpu/bios upgrade.

the pentium D that I purchased was $25 on ebay with about $8 shipping. I am pretty sure that what I have in this computer is a presler.

thanks for the reply.HWInfo will tell you EVERYTHING about the computer & is also able to monitor temps in real time. The author updates it about once every week with betas & finals about once a month. Much better than SpeedFan.

thanks again. One thing that I noticed about your machine is that you have a lot of items on the device manager tree. I do not know what you use machine for but in my experience with computers I have not had so many items in my device manager shown. If you can or are willing to take the risk try to uninstall as many drivers from the system but keep in my that doing so might either bring new problems or solve the current one. So what i suggest you do is go to your motherboards drivers page and download all the latest drivers so you have a them backed up after doing so uninstall the drivers you might think are not being used by going into add or remove programs.. Good luck.Quote from: F0rward on October 06, 2012, 11:09:26 AM

You seem to be misinformed about the Device Manager. If the device (hardware) does not exist, it will not be listed in the DM. If a device is not listed, it makes no difference if the drivers are installed or not. Windows won't use the drivers if the hardware is not installed.

1.SET BIOS SETTINGS TO DEFAULT
2.Reinstall windows.
3.Install chipset drivers first.
4.RESTART.
5.Install HD graphics.
6.Install all the other drivers (audio,usb..)
I'd pick up a cheap PCIe video card and install that and avoid the integrated GPU which has issues with drivers etc. Last system that had similar issues was an eMachine Imperial_GL_VE 20021111 motherboard. I did finally track down a driver that would work by using Knoppix Live Linux CD to see what driver was happy with it. But in the meantime I used a cheap $20 GeForce4 video card in a PCI slot.

where can i find the jumper cable? I don't know . A local store where you are at may carry them.
Usually any small computer shop,or a friend will gladly give you
one.You should have Master/CS,or Cable Select, and Slave settings
printed on your drive.

Solve : need some driver help-music mystic mp3 player?

Answer»

Hey GUYS I need some help with the mp3 player.
I got it as a gift and my windows XP will not load a driver for it.
its a 1G music MYSTIC mp3 player and the driver disk that came with it is blank.
I tried to contact target where it was purchased and they will not exchange it because I don't have a recept.

is there a generic driver that will work? or am in trouble with this paper weight?
I tried to contact the company but got no response back.

any help would be awesome!I'd take it and the driver CD to Target and if they couldn't get it to work they should replace it...gift or not.
Seems like they're the major retailer of that product anyways...
