I recently bought an internal DVD drive on eBay. I spoke to someone from LG but they say it's not an Australian model so they don't know anything about it. The drive didn't come with cables or a MANUAL, so I need help please.

About the DVD drive:
It is a 'Super Multi DVD WRITER GH24SD1'
It has two holes to put cables in. One is long and narrow and is labelled 'sata power CONNECTOR'. The other is short and narrow and is labelled 'sata signal connector'
Manufactured June 2016 (so it is not an old model)
ROM VER: LG00
S/N: 606HBXG102418
SVC Code: NSD1
Also it has HF20C above the holes for the cables

What I need to know:
1. What sata cables do I need to use this with my laptop?
2. Should the DVD drive still work in Australia, with Australian DVDs, EVEN though it is a different country's model? (I don't know which country, and nor does the LG rep)

Antivirus: Norton Internet Security, Disabled That sounds like an Internal DVD Drive, not an external. It would accept a DC Jack if it was external; not SATA Power, which comes from a PC's power supply.

I've found it listed in some people's PC builds which suggests it is internal as well.Yes, sorry, you're right about it being an internal DVD drive. I've corrected this in the edit. Those -SD1 model drives are seen in PCs sold in Germany, so maybe that country or mainland Europe generally. If it is region locked it is usually possible to change the region five times in Windows XP/Vista/7/8.1/10.
And any regular SATA cables can be used for the drive...The region setting would only affect trying to play region coded video DVDs (movies, TV show box sets etc).. It would not affect anything else like music CDs or CD-ROMs and DVD-ROMs, software install disks and so on.

So I reinstalled windows 10 with a media creation TOOL and it immediately crashed. BSOD: video tdr failure and antikmpag.sys error.
I booted into SAFEMODE and switched the display driver from amd to microsoft basic display adapter. Now it was possible to boot into windows 10 and everytime I tried to swtich to amd radeon hd 7500m/7600m it´d crashed. Then I downloaded DDU to untinstall everything. Now I don´t know what to install so that my display driver works (amd radeon) for gaming purposes.

I apreciate any help from you guys.
And i had no clue what i was doing until now. Would be nice if you can guide me through this misery.

Hey guys! So here is my problem. Basically this started 2 months ago : I got a Yellowish screen with stripes and had to manually reboot my PC. Couldn't get my pc to boot up, only in safe mode. Tried numerous things including repairing and restoring the system but it just wouldn't work. I decided to do a fresh install of Windows 10. Everything WENT smoothly until I tried installing the AMD driver. I downloaded the autodetect tool and tried installing everything. Next thing I know my pc freezes again. I tried rebooting but had the same problem as before. I was ABLE to go into safe mode. Uninstalled all the amd drivers with the DDU tool. Booted normally and this time tried installing the drivers after downloading the whole crimson package. The installation just stalled at 16% when trying to install the AMD Display Driver and froze up the PC. Had to reboot into safe mode again and use DDU once more. Tried using the AMD removal tool aswell but that was also a no-go. I ran memtest+ without any errors, use sfc scannow without any errors. Have done clean installs of Windows 10 a few times now and still no luck. I decided to try the AMD support forums but nobody seems to have a solution to the problem. I'm trying to also talk with AMD tech people to see if they can figure this out. Meanwhile I was away for 2 months and now I'm back and trying to solve this. I don't think my GPU is dead because I have tried it on a friends system with Windows 7 and it was working fine. I have been able to install the AMD drivers if I do it in safe mode but then my pc freezes while Windows 10 is trying to load. If I boot normally after removing the drivers with DDU, my computer freezes after a couple of minutes. I'm guessing this has to do with Windows trying to install/update the GPU drivers because after I force restart the PC I can see a Microsoft Basic Display Adapter in device manager.

I'm getting seriously frustrated with this and am about to just take the card to a pc shop/clinic NEAR my house just to see what they say about it.

Have you removed the card cleaned the contacts and re-seated it in the offending PC ? ?

Also the existing PSU could be the culprit if it's failing...test with a known good one.

BTW DDU is garbage as well and known to cause issues...Funnily enough I haven't! Will try that now. Should I first uninstall any remaining drivers with DDU?


EDIT : Tried it and was getting really hopeful because the installer wasn't freezing. Unfortunately it froze once again. This time the screen went black and then green.

EDIT 2 : Did the trick of installing drivers while in safe mode. They installed. When I tried booting normally, the BLUE windows logo appeared and the dots started spinning but the screen went immediately black and had to hard reset the pc.

I have been using USB flash drives for quite a few years for copying and playing music in MP3 format. Can anybody tell me whether some flash drives are more suitable for music than others? I like to put as many albums as I can and play back the tracks in random order. However I find that the more tracks I put on the less likely that the device (stereo) I'm playing them on is able to recognise them all. Something to do with memory I've heard said.
I'm also finding that again the device that I'm playing them on doesn't always play them all back in random order. What I mean is it seems to select tracks that it's already played recently, still randomly, but the same one's I've heard the previous time I used it. When there's several hundred tracks on the drive you'd think that wouldn't hear the same one again for quite A while. Unless you're a "music head" like I am you may not understand what I'm saying.
Also I've always wondered whether it's advantageous to sync the music via Windows Media Player? I often just copy it direct from my computer to the drive.
Hope I haven't said too much From my own limited experience, I think one should a high quality player that has its own built-in storage. But it is hard to find what I think is ideal.

Some devices will let you load playlists that you have created yourself. You would make lists that would suit your personal moods. When you fell happy, a list of upbeat songs. When you are sad, a list of softer, GENTLE songs. But it should not cost as much as a portable computer.

The current consumer market for portable music is myopic. The market makers can not see the need for better medium price portable music systems. If you say 'MP3' they assume you are shopping for a thing like the Apple iPod. It is near impassible to find a portable music system that will play any kind of media the way you want.

But if you like listening to music with earphones, you can get a nice Bluetooth headset and set you PC to BROADCAST music over Bluetooth. That would be much more versicle than any portable MP3 player on the sonsumer market.

Thanks for your comments Geek-9pm. I'm reasonably happy with the quality of my music when played back on a USB stick in mp3 (320Kbps) format. If it's played on a reasonable quality player it's usually quite good. I like the simplicity, portability and playability . It's just the capabilities(?) of the stick I'm really asking about. Things such are some better than others. Is it better to sync music using WMP rather than just plonking the folders over direct from your computer. It's all in my original post. There is no difference between flash drives that would make one work better for Music than another.

What you are connecting the USB Flash drive to is going to dictate capabilities, not the Flash Drive itself; This is the case for all the features you mentioned (Except capacity, obviously!). The stereo may have capacity limitations, file format limitations, file system limitations, etc. IF you can find the model number it should be possible to determine what limitations it has and how it works with MP3 playback. Stereo's usually have fairly basic capabilities in this regard as tehre isn't a lot of demand for the FEATURE overall.

Algorithm, not logarithm. It basically means a way of doing things.

I wouldn't know the best way- or even if- the capability can be determined from say a feature sheet. Dedicated Portable MP3 Player's have had the feature for some time, though; The way my two Sony Walkman MP3 Players (Going back to 2007/2008 or so) have worked is that the Shuffle feature basically creates a random "playlist" and then progresses through it so the same file isn't played twice; when it finishes playing them all it reshuffles the list and starts over (if set to repeat). Most PC Media Players work this way as well.

Music is different than normal data

2nd Portable is my suggestion. Label one of them say #1 and other #2.

Say #1 is the Master Drive. This drive gets updated from Drive #2 after first confirming that drive #2 is clean of virus's. Drive #1 is placed somewhere safe. Drive #2 is used as the drive you interact with most. Whenever you have a certain level of data that has been added or changed on drive #2, you will scan the system and drive to make sure no virus's exist and then connect drive #1 and update it with file changes from drive #2.

Some people balance the wear on drives by using them in a rotation as well. Such as after confirming that drive #1 is clean, introduce drive #2 and update it with changes from #1. Then remove drive #1 properly and put it somewhere safe and drive #2 is then in use. Then the next time you have some data on it you cant afford to LOSE you perform the complete virus scan and if clean reintroduce drive #1 and update drive #1 with drive #2. Then properly disconnect drive #2 and place drive #2 some place safe and alternate, but never miss the full virus scan prior to introducing each drive to each other. Reason being is that a virus can act like fire. Failing to perform a full scan and you just spread the fire to both drives and now are at risk of data loss.

Myself I have less than 32GB of important data that is projects that I work on so I have three 32GB USB sticks labeled A, B, and C. I backup to A, then next week B, then next week C, and then the week after that overwrites A with the latest info, and week after that B is overwritten with latest data. If I have a project that i worked on that is critical to have it backed up on multiple drives, I will perform a backup sooner than waiting 7 days and stick with my A,B,C,A,B,C rotation. NOTE: I also perform full virus scans regularly before introducing the 32GB USB sticks to be as safe as possible to not spread a virus like fire.

Back in the 1990s I had a virus that spread like fire over floppy disks and it was really bad. I learned my lesson from this. I only said that as a suggestion. Standard desktops have room inside for a second drive. The exceptions are the very small units taht have no room for internal expansion. But if you don't want to dig inside the box, you can use an external drive for general backup and secondary storage.

See if that new HDD can be read or detected with another computer.
If another computer sees it, assume the interface is bad.

See if your laptop can boot from a USB drive or a DVD.
If so, get a diagnostic DVD to check out the laptop.

I have a dell OptiPlex 360. The hard drive died so I installed a new one and installed windows 10 on it. It has been working good for about a week but now it won't recognize any dvds/cds I put in. The drive shows up in the drive manager with a yellow exclamation point next to it. I uninstalled and restarted the computer. I also checked for UPDATES but it says it has the latest driver. Not sure where to go from here.... suggestions? I can't reinstall the driver from the original discs since the computer won't recognize any discs.

If you right clik it in Disk Management and select properties what all does it say ? ?Here is what helped:

1. Press Win+R (Windows key and R key). A Run dialog will appear. Type Regedit and click OK.
2. Expand My Computer in Registry EDITOR, and then expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
3. Expand SYSTEM, and then expand CurrentControlSet.
4. Expand Control, and then expand Class.
5. Under Class, click {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}.
6. In the details PANE of Registry Editor, on the right side, delete UpperFilters.

This should fix the problem if the filters were indeed the reason, which is often the case. If you do not see UpperFilters, delete LowerFilters. If you do not see LowerFilters, the drive may be crashed.
You should include proper info on backing up the registry when advising editing it...That's not a USB device , its Sata

I was given an old Microtek MSF-300C scanner and I want to use it with my PC, just for fun, but I can't find a driver for it.
Do I need a driver, at all?
The manual was included, but I do not understand a single word from it, because there are lots of commands explained in it, but it is simply not said, where you have to type them in!

The scanner has a serial port, I have a PC and serveral old Macs, both with serial PORTS, too.

floI was on the Microtek website... If you know which series of scanner you have, they DO have some downloads on there... Also, how old is this scanner? You MIGHT not NEED any drivers, but only if it has "Plug and Play" technology...

I am using cyberghost 6 and when I try to connect it says it needs to download a driver I agree and then it says "error OCCURRED while installing TAP driver" I tried reinstalling cyberghost 6 and redownloaded the TAP FILES .....what should I do? win 10 HOME 64 bit.

I am trying to sort out all my drivers, and this is UPON ONE of the few that has an issue. It has come BACK with a Code 10, saying the device cannot start. I don't know what to do, any help?More info NEEDED.

Can not get A drive to read or write. new unit and flat cable. tested in dos, it will format a disk. when I try to write to it I get this message A:\is not acccessible The SYSTEM cannot read from specified device. retry cancel Packard Bell/win 98 SE. 4.10.2222/processor intel pentium 133 megahertz/main curcuit board intel corp. Does the led ( light ) come on in it when you boot up the machine ?

As you know computers were put here to drive us mad.bought a new A drive put it in would not work. took it out and put in an other A drive out of one of my old computers the old one worked fine. ran a scandisk and a defrag, everything working just right. put new one back in ran scandisk and was told that there were to many bad CLUSTERS ,and to get a new A drive. so thats what I did . new one won't work and my old one wont work now. ran a VIRUS scan and came put clean. went to CONTROL panel, systems, propertys, the driver is fine and working . here is message I get when I try to use A drive. A:\ is not accessible The system cannot read from the specified drive. retry cancel. I'm not sure where, to find the other versions for this card an I only got the 98 driver that came with it. ROSEWILL rnx-g300ex/lx Atrociously laid out driver page... But Here It Is...I all ready, RAN the search an didn't get anythingSearching for "rnx-g300" gave me one result and the drivers listed for it go up to Win7 (which would work on Win8 and Win10 as well)

I am looking for onboard usb, AUDIO & VIDEO DRIVERS for a Lucky Star 6ABx2V motherboard. My friend formatted her DRIVE without first checking if she had the m/b cd. I have looked everywhere i know but can only find bios updates for the board. Any help at all will be much appriciated.I have the same motherboard. All the drivers you need are included on the Windows 98SE, Windows 2000-Pro, and Windows XP-Pro CD's.Thanks for you reply, i hope she can get it to work as i don't live close to her to do it myself.It depends on which Windows operating system you both are using, but if you both have XP, you can remote assistance her.... Guys I wanted to play my game 🎮 on my laptop window 7but it is telling me that there is no ENOUGH video memory.any help for me guys Some BIOS's allow you to allocate more or less shared SYSTEM RAM to integrated video. Check in BIOS to see if its set to the maximum, but be aware that it takes a chunk of system memory dedicated to its operation so if you have 4GB RAM and set the Video Memory to 512MB then you now have about 3.5GB RAM for the OS. *Not all BIOS's will let you mess with the shared memory amount, but some will.

*My guess is that if your able to make the ALLOCATION larger to play the game, the game might not play that well on this laptop. You might get very low frame rates on a game that is asking for more video RAM, usually also wants a beefy GPU to crunch the video rendering.

Maybe you will get lucky and its set to 256MB now and can set to 512MB or larger, and the game will WORK fine after saving changes in BIOS and reboot. But can you please direct me on how am going T0 it ok for starters .... What Make/Model Laptop?Samsung Intel window 7 Really ? ?...you have any idea how many Models Samsung have ? ?

You can also try replacing the inf file from a computer that has the same OS, and USE the .inf code for the device ID. You need to be running a basic keyboard and mouse, which you seem to be.

This will take you in the right direction if you know what driver you need, or should have.

I'm so pissed off to be honest, I was gonna play a game of Dynasty warriors 8: Extreme legends for a whole day then this RAM problem got in the way, My original RAM was 1.50 GB, but for some reason.. It became 512 MB (510 MB usable) as it says in the system properties of windows 7 and It is currently so SLOW to use right now that I almost raged. I kept searching for everything like fixing it on msconfig, refreshing ram with a vba file, uninstalling unimportant stuff, Virtual ram stuff, yet all of this.. NOTHING works. Anybody got suggestions on why did this happen or how to fix this? Help will be fully appreciated.could it be as simple as one, or more, of your RAM sticks have gone bad or just making a poor connection with the mobo slot?

But you did not include the make and model of your computer.
Lacking specific details, here is my guess as to what happened...

The problem comes from doing a r-install of Windows.
You were superposed to make a image of the system as a BACKUP. But you did not do that, instead you tried to install windows 7 from media that did NOT include specific drivers for your computer. The drives are on a CD. Or you download them from the maker of the motherboard.

You must use chip set drivers from the maker of the motherboard or from the OEM that sold you the complete computer.

I have been running windows 98 for 5 years and have not received any updates in this time as i am new to going on line. I have recently installed a new cd/dvd Rw and BELIEVE I need update drivers to resolve problems IM having. I am only on dial up connection and would LIKE to know the best way to resolve my problems.

The FIRST thing to do is go to the Windows Update Site and let Microsoft tell you what you need. After 5 years there is probably a boat load of updates available.

I've SEARCHED google, driver.com and here. Any suggestions where I can GET an UPDATED driver for this?

So, straight to the point: My laptop can handle 1080p videos smoothly if i play them OFFline(downloaded videos)with an average CPU usage of 20% - 35% but i go to the internet and try to play 1 video in hd , even in 720p , the CPU usage goes up to 99% and the video becomes pretty much a photo sequence instead of a video. MY QUESTIONS ARE: What can i do? , What's the problem?

RAM: 4,00GB (3,59GB usable)

If you are using w-fi for the connection to your router, try with wired connection. If that makes no difference, and you get trouble with all online streaming sources, not just one, then you may have a problem with your ISP's internet service.

I have used wired conexion in the past , the problem is still there , my dad uses a laptop like mine , a little bit better , but HE CAN watch videos in hd , so the wifi is not the problem , and yes , everything in my computer is updated. [attachment deleted by admin to conserve space]My thoughts are that the APU itself is on the weak side for having to deal with a video source that isnt local. As well as there could be scripts running at that website wherever the stream is from that also adds additional burden to the weak APU.

When the video is local on your hard drive its a much simpler process of playing the video, the data is easier for the CPU to handle playing as a local FILE as well as you dont have some website running scripts to monitor your stream and prompt for commercials at timer intervals and all that.

But when its streaming you have a few things coming into play. This video is on a website that has other stuff going on in the background and this adds a load onto your CPU portion of the APU. Additionally the data that is to be played on your screen is coming in the form of packets that have to be reassembled back into video content for the GPU portion of the APU to handle and at 1080p thats a lot of packets very quickly. So the CPU is having to reassemble data in order to play that data out as a video stream and frame rate plunges as the CPU is maxed out unable to keep up with the juggle at a rate that you would enjoy.

I guess best suggestion I have is, if your able to download the videos, do that first and play them locally to try to ease the load on the CPU to playing local data that doesnt need to be reassembled into a video steam in the memory BUFFER. and you tell me that is too weak? uhmm i guess this is "Topic Solved" I had a Intel Atom 1.66Ghz APU weakling netbook that use to play streaming videos with no problems when it was new. I had same issues where eventually I was getting choppy video. I did a full factory reset and also made sure that the processor wasnt overheating and thermal throttling. I TRIED all sorts of stuff and Youtube Downloader I ended up using to be able to watch videos smoothly, but thats after they are downloaded and not everything downloadable. It was frustrating but as time passes the demands of the internet are greater and greater and eventually that system that use to play the streaming videos with no problems is now too slow to keep up with the data juggle that is required to play the video smoothly. My netbook got from choppy streaming video to now where even 360p is pathetically lagged out so I no longer use it for streaming and use a better laptop that has no problems with it with a Core i3 2.1 Ghz processor and Intel HD Graphics. But someday that too will run into the same issue as the processing demands from the internet ever increase. Sorry to be bearer of bad news with your computer.

If your able to drop it to 720 or 360 is it bearable? 360 is pretty bad but 720 might be bearable.

Does anyone know if there is a driver for a Visioneer 7600 scanner which WORKS with XP? Visioneer didn't write one and neither did MS. If anyone can help I need a BIT of ASSISTANCE in GETTING a driver (if there is one) installed. The scanner is installed but not recognized since there is no driver. I assume I should uninstall the scanner and physically disconnect it before installing any driver that I find, if there is one.Old_Soldier....... Have a look on ........................

I'm trying to compile wifi drivers for an android DEVICE an LG , which is running on MARSHMALLOW and cm13 .
The kernel is 3.4 , i'm not able to get the original one because it's a custom BUILT rom .
I did find on github the kernel AIMED at the device and the kernel cm13 is based on. both where used to craete the rom , i presume.

I'm not certain which one of the two i should use for the compilation though.
I have original drivers from realtek and source code aimed at the same kernel version i.e linux-kernel-3.4 (android)

I'm not sure if a linux-kernel3.4 armhf is a universal matching kernel (which means i could use ubuntu backports for Zezty and get a linux-armhf copy of same version ) or do i need to use the specific one aimed at the device or even cm13 ?

Also do i just unpack the kernel source and use MAKE to create headers or do i actually need to install them on my x86_64 Ubuntu laptop ?

I'm experiencing a particularly frustrating issue at present.

I recently upgraded my main PC, which i use primarily for a mixture of music production and gaming, thanks to easily swappable hard drives depending on what i'm using it for that day.

While using it for music production one night, i turned it off, went to sleep, woke up, went to work, and came back home only to find that upon booting to windows, there was no sound. I checked all drivers, i rebooted, i checked if my interface was plugged in correctly, nothing had changed. No windows or 3rd party updates had been scheduled or automatically installed, and the PC was completely powered down anyway, preventing that from being possible regardless.

I always make sure i have to manually connect to the WiFi so as to prevent any updates from suddenly happening upon booting, and i hadn't done that by this point either.

I've subsequently checked, re-checked, and triple checked all drivers which are there, or should be there, and nothing seems askew. I've uninstalled, reinstalled, updated, removed, checked the bios settings, attempted to bypass via the interface's independent ASIO drivers, all to no avail. No sound functionality is present, whether it's windows default, interface, or anything in between. Bluetooth also doesn't bypass this issue.

I tried reinstalling and UPDATING mobo drivers too, again to no avail.

I may have missed some things, as I'm extremely tired and frustrated right now, so you'll have to excuse me.

My setup is on my profile, only difference being when i swap hard drives i go between windows 10 home, and windows 10 pro.

Given that making music is the majority of what i use to retain my sanity, any help or ideas are appreciated!Ah, my bad. Specs don't fit in the specs section, haha.

Just an afterthought. You may have had a hardware failure that healed itself. It happens. Here is why I say this.
It is extremely unlikely that local services would be turned off on two different systems at the same time. There is no way that a command you give while running one system was somehow FLY through space and get into your other hard drive. It is much more likely that you have a piece of hardware that has become intermittent.
So make a note in your personal logbook encases comes back again sometime. My best guess is you have a cable that is broken. What I mean to say is almost broken. It still makes contact, but once in a while it will either short out the audio or it will fail to make the connection. What kind of loud speakers or headphones are you using? If you have an external amplified loudspeaker, you need to check it thoroughly to make sure that it always works reliably. And of course, you should always have a pair of headphones handy. But since you said you into music and stuff like that, I would suppose you already have more than one pair of headphones available.

That's all I had to say.

I just got a brand NEW pc. It seemed to be working fine when all of a sudden it shut down. it then displayed the black page that first comes up when you turn it on. it says geforce fx 5200 BIOS then starts up the pc. when windows starts it lets me send an ERROR report. after the report sends, it takes me to a microsoft help page that says its a graphics driver error. can anyone help?Try reloading the graphics driver. Does anybody know which drivers are the correct ones for the Sound Blaster 16 CT2840 ISA card? I just bought one on eBay. I'm looking for the full set. I cannot find the driver disks online.The CT2840 is an OEM SB 16 Value, or CT2770. It probably wouldn't have had it's own separate driver set since it was not sold separately at retail.

You can find some Driver Disks Here The closest set would likely be the "Sound Blaster 16 Value Edition Drivers & Applications disk set (REVISION 1) " listed there.

How difficult is it to find the original floppy disks?I doubt physical examples of the 2770's Driver Diskettes are going to be easy to come by- It's MOSTLY AWE64 and the Original Sound Blaster that you can find more easily. I don't even know if the "Value" card driver diskettes would even externally identify that they were for the SB 16 *Value* rather than the SB16, other than being included in the box. (And complete-in-box or New-Old-Stock just to get the floppies would be pretty crazy!)No need for floppies for the install anyways,,,should be able to run the setup file from any media...Yes the contents of the floppy can be extracted via a program like WinImage and burned to a CD instead, if the SYSTEM the sound card is being INSTALLED in has a CD-ROM drive, of course.

I have a 9200 radeon video card.When I play NHL 2004 it freezes up on me. The game image freezes and then the monitor goes black. Sometimes it reboots itself (the computer) but most times I have to re-set my self. Ive done the driver UPDATES over and over but still have problem.There is no screen saver on behind. Assuming its not a game fault (game not like'in the card and ati not made a fix yet) it might be a hardware fault.

I doub't its over heating but maybe try bigger fan if you got one about?

I have a problem with my compatability of my display adapter my laptop is HP Pavilion G4 with a product # QJ542EA#ABV . with windows 7 32bit OS . i have an Intel GRAPHICS 3000 installed but its not compatible it keeps turning off WHENEVER i turn my laptop on i have now currently disabled the display adapter any suggestions on what display adapter i should install ?

I think you'll find changing videos cards in a laptop is all but impossible.

The Intel 3000 would be embedded in the motherboard for starters.

Sounds like your issues may be driver related. Either try HP, Intel or the motherboard manufacturers websites for the latest driver.JohnCubillas,

When did the problem start? Did you change the operating system? Is so, you have to install new DRIVERS for correct performance. The drives must be the ones recommended by HP for your model.

i placedmy 3.5 floppy diskette to save a file. When i looked at the properties of the 3.5 floppy diskette, it showed that the MEMORY of the diskette was full(you KNOW, the pie chart filled with color blue). I know for a fact that my diskette contains only a few files. Thn, I tried to format the diskette, the floppy disk drive started reading it.afterwards, a message popped up telling me that windows cannot CONTINUE and that it canot be formatted. I tried that same 3.5 diskette to our other PC. I looked at the properties, it showed that only a part of it was used(as i can remember, 1/8 of it was colored with blue, and the rest of the pie chart was colored with purple-which means free space). again i tried another diskette, it my own PC showed that it was full (I didn't dare to forma it again). Yes tried setting it to a higher resolution but it will not accept it. It will only show 16 colors. I am wondering if there is a hardware fault as when you power up there are 3 beeps from the BIOS before it boots windows. It does not play the windows music, it is like it was in safe mode but it does not say safe mode on the screen and all other functions work OK.Sounds a bit fishy. Scan for viruses first of all.

Then try reinstalling your sound and video card drivers. If you have lost them, look on their companies' INTERNET site. If you cannot find them there then sorry but you are screwed basically.

After this, or if you cannot do that, try reinstalling Windows. Usually you can do this without having to format your harddrive and thus keeping your existing data, but back it up just in case.Hi Neil

Yes I would like to install the video driver, no we do not have the originals, this promped my original request for anyone with this computer who MAY have the originals. They do not appear to be available on the Samsung WEB site, infact I can't find any mention of the model on there web site. It is about 7 years old so I guess it is not supported.

Any further thoughts appre ciated or anyone with original software ...

AlanDo you have any documentation for the machine? It is likely that it uses a cirrus logic chipset, but without knowing which specific one, it is difficult to determine which driver you need. If you like guessing games (are you are wits end?) I would guess it is the 5446 chipset. If you choose to download a driver for that chipset, make sure you select one to match the operating system.Have you tried to find the drivers on other websites besides Samsung? MAT I suggest a Google search.... OR.... Better yet..... Who is the manufacturer of your video card? Can you get the drivers from them?

Thank youI'm not sure what you mean by "bios drivers". If you want to update the bios just FOLLOW the instructions accompanying the update. You shouldn't have to do ANYTHING else.If the PC is runnin fine no need to update / flash BIOS...

your mobo manufacturer will have a list of current BIOS firmware updates.
in the change log for the ones more recent than your current one, see if there are any new features, fixes or improvements that would benefit you, otherwise there'll be no reason to flash your BIOS to the latest version.I'm not sure what you mean by "bios drivers" After a new pc BUILT you have to install some drivers,some of them are for the bios.

There are motherboard / chipset drivers and perhaps that's what you're thinking of? If so, they are independent of the bios. Anyway, as is pointed out above unless there is a specific need or reason to update the bios you're BETTER off leaving well enough alone.if there are no bios drivers,then what about the first drivers on the image?

If you have to format ANYWAY then setting the 4G as master and the 80G as slave will not be a PROBLEM. EVEN if you didn't format the 80G you will be FINE.

Okay, for about 3 weeks now, ive have been trying to locate a updated driver for my _NEC DVD+RW ND-1100A drive. I have looked on the NEC website and all over the web but i cannont locate the correct driver for it. Please help. The reason i have to update it is because the drive is not reconized by my computer ANYMORE. I have already tried updating it from going into properties of the drive, but it cannont locate one.

dl65 Alright, so you've already seen the manufacturer's website then..... Do this...... Go to your device manager.... Next, find the folppy drive in there.... Right-click on it, and hit update drivers.... (Make sure that you are connected to the internet when you do this)

[glb]Flame[/glb]Okay, dl65, I downloaded the file and it unziped it, and then it ran the program "NEC Firmware FLash Utility for ND-1100A" , but it says target drive is not found, and it the drive i need to update is not listed in the little window. ??Oh, and im using "Windows XP Proffesional"AlexTheGreat89...You say that if you go into "My Computer " that the drive ......(dvd -rw ) isn't seen . So try this........shut down the pc ......open the case and physically unplug the wide ide cable and the 4 pin power supply from the back of the dvd-rw drive......
I am assuming that the jumpers on your cd drives ( if you have more than 1 are set correctly ) Now power up the pc and check to see that the dvd drive ISNT listed ......
The shut down again .......plug the IDE cable back in and replace the 4 pin power cable .....now restart your pc ......when It boots up you should see a small box appear down in the lower right corner which will say Windows has detected new hardware installed....Then it will continue loading and you shoulld see the MESSAGE new hardware installed ( or something like that .....) Now go into "My Computer " and it should be listed there as DVD-RW .....bla bla bla

dl65 Did Exactly that, and it didnt ask me to install hardware or anything. My computer KNOWS there is a Drive there, but it dosent show up in my computer and when i put CD's or anything in it, it dosent do anything. Would it work if i tried to install original drivers from the CD's my computer came with ? I have a Dell, and i really dont like calling there customer service, lol.well, i called dell, and we determined that it was a faulty IDE cable... so they are sending me a new one for free, lol. jpokert.......what operating system is on the PC you want to load sound drivers onto ? I dont understand why you would get an A: prompt when you put a cd in the cd-DRIVE .....

A: is usually refering to the 3.25" floppy drive .

Did you have to INSTALL a new sound card in this pc ?

dl65 jpokert.....When you go into your control panel and click on ADD new hardware .......do you have the installation wizard box open ? If it does it will ask you if you have a installation disk ..if so press "cancel" ,,,then A list of the hardware installed should appear.....then select your sound card from the list and you should be prompted to place the install cd in the cd drive ....then follow the instructions .

Last night, my friends had a little to drink and thought it would be funny if they moved my mouse and keyboard DRIVERS into a different FOLDER. The next time I tried to boot my computer, neither the mouse nor keyboard were recognized by Windows. I can't reinstall the driver cds because my computer is perpetually stuck on the Windows login screen. I've tried other keyboards and mice, but I get the same results. I know there is nothing wrong with the hardward because the keyboard still works in DOS when I go into the BIOS. Is there an easy way to solve this or do I NEED to take it to a repair place. Looking for driver disk for my board. Checked some of the links around but cannot get through to mfr. website or ftp.
M900 Board has Intel Chipset, and I downloaded what seems to be working device driver for the 82801ba chipset , but skeptical that OEM version may be different. I also found what APPEARS to be the AC'97 sound driver and installed that OK. There are no problems in the device manager, and the only foul-up, is the CD ROM Drive will not play music CD's. I was thinking the sound driver or something else causing that. (Just shifts through the tracks and RETURNS to 1.)
I was really glad about the deal that I got on e-bay for yesteryear dream pc. But, I am finding a few other things hard to deal with. The mouse is 3 button plug and play, but I can't use the 3rd button. The other guys want $275.00 for the same board new with driver disk. I hear that all legacy windows drivers are being removed from websites, and Microsoft ended its support. Although, Radeon had the 9X drivers for their video cards. Never heard of PCCHIPS before, are they big in Europe?You can Google it.

Hi I was having problems with my burner wasnt sure if was discs I got in TOUCH with my local PC SHOP and as im disabled and unable to LEAVE my bungalow they came and fitted me a NEW burner as I was unable to watch DVDS on the other drive he tested it played a dvd played music all fine then I wanted to put something on DVD I use Ashampoo DVD Fab and Convert X DVD none of these would let me write to disc on Convert X DVd it tries 21 times then I get a message saying failed as do AShampoo and DVD FAB I rung the PC Shop earlier and told me to check device manager Drives and update driver it said the correct drive was installed the PC shop is not open now till Monday anyone get any suggestions please
