i DESPERATELY need help. my dad was messing with the pc yesterday. and this morning, when i was trying to work on a video montage, this error message came up, "windows cannot play ***.wav. your soundcard may be in use." and now i cant play audio FILES
is there anyone out there who can help me? please

What exactly did your dad do?

Try reinstalling your sound drivers.Click on Start -> all programs -> accessories -> system tools -> system restore. All you have to do is revert your hard disk (using system restore) back to a few DAYS before your dad "messed" with the computer. Tell how how it works...

If he's the type who thinks he knows everything about computers but doesn't have a clue, best keep him away. No offence to any dads, not all dads are like that, but I've seen things like this happen before.

Try reinstalling your sound card drivers first. You might want to remove the existing ones first so you have a clean start.

Try reinstalling DirectX.

Press control alt delete and look at the currently running programs. Could any of these be using your sound?

I plugged a USB1.1 Flashdrive into a 1.1 port. Before it came up with the normal options for what to do with the files on the drive, a message appeared saying that this drive could work faster in a 2.0 port. I ejected the flashdrive and INSERTED it into a 2.0 port. It WENT into the mode of serching for a driver. When it found it, it then came up with a message that I MUST first FORMAT the flashdrive before I could access it. It also CHANGED the name of the flashdrive description to "USB DISK 30X". I can now no longer see the files on the flashdrive. How can I revert back to the standard flashdrive format and view or recover the files?

You could SIMPLY create a new boot disk. Look in add remove programs.

Why do you want to format? MAYBE we can assist with the problem?

I own a device (Yamaha n12 mixer) and I am facing a similar problems I faced a couple of times before where I resorted to the ultimate cure - reinstalling windows just to get a driver working since nothing else worked. That nightmare is back.

So all was working fine till yesterday. But today when I got my computer and the mixer powered, I got the dreaded 'Failed to Initialize' message for the mixer's firewire driver that comes with the n12. This is all the manual had to say about this issue -

Error message: Failed to initialize.
Cause: Initialization of Yamaha Steinberg FW Driver has failed.
Solution: Restart the computer.

Just for you to better diagnose the problem, I had also installed the latest Yamaha USB drivers a few days ago, since I thought of also incorporating an old yamaha device in my setup. Both, the firewire driver and the USB driver seemed to work fine, but on the next boot the error started showing up for the firewire driver.

No matter how many times I re-install the FW driver (latest or the previous version), restart my PC before INSTALLING this, after deleting that etc etc, or even delete registry entries for the yamaha FW and USB midi drivers (assuming I deleted the right entries) and then reinstalling, the error message still remains, with the control panel of the FW driver greyed out.

Most of the forum posts about this issue END with ' It suddenly started working this morning', and thats what happened to me the LAST time too, but I haven't been that lucky this time. There is absolutely no response from the manufacturer about this matter and I really don't know where to go from here. The installation goes fine. I TRIED the IEEE 1394 host controller(Legacy) , Texas instruments 1394 host controller in device manager. Nothing.


All the latest drivers, firmware have been downloaded and installed from the yamaha website and here are the details of the hardware involved -

PCI Firewire Card - SIIG NN-440012-S8 (Texas Instruments Chipset)
OS - Windows 7 x64 Ultimate


Can someone please tell me how on earth should I generally deal with such traumatizing driver issues when they show absolutely no direction as to what is WRONG?

Each time I tried to play the game Plants vs ZOMBIES,the laptop stalls and I get a stop code message. I google the same and try to do what is recommended like driver update, graphics controller. I guess I messed up bad by trying to check for drivers via Dell and Intel and getting it all wrong.

Yes I did update the driver for the Display Adapter via the driver CD and checked and found no newer drivers via Windows update.

Blue screen. I got a message of zero crashes. Not sure if this is right as after I ran the program , I did not get the scanning option.From this morning, when the laptop goes into standby mode, it does not come back to active mode. I have to power down the laptop via the power button located on the laptop. This has happened thrice already.

Earlier all I had to do was to press the power button, the Dell logo comes up on the screen on which I clicked upon and I was good to go.

Just wondering if it is END OF DAYS for this Laptop.

Well last night after i restard my computer i put in a cd and it would not read it. So i put in a few other cds and it would not read them either. 1)- If you were using ur CD DRIVE before you restart ur PC then it may possible that you CD DRIVE's power cable's conection is lose or that power cable is out oof work. Try to connect diff power cable.

2)- The above problem may also caused because of deffective Data Cable. Try to use ur CD DRIVE's Data cable with ur HARD Dive and see if it works.

3)- Before doing above things, restart ur PC and pres pause button on ur keyboard when you see first screen then put any CD in your CD DRIVE and see if it works.

OTHERWISE YOUR CD DRIVE MAY BE DEFFECTIVE

Dur-E-WahabWho is the manufacturer of your CD Drive? If you can GO to their website, they can give you the LATEST drivers, that will probably solve your problem...

my computer has viruses how can i clean out my hard drive?greenmonsters......next time try and put your post in the right place....this is for driver issues.....but since your here ....here's what to do ........Using another PC , go to http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/ and download stinger ....onto a floppy DISK .......Now go back to your infected pc and disable your internet connection , disable the "system restore" if you have one ... Now run stinger and delete whatever it finds . Run stinger again just to be CERTAIN .......Now it should be safe to enable your internet connection .....open your anti-virus and check to be SURE its subscription is current and you have the latest updates .......now scan your system again with your AV.......when you are positive its clean enable the "system restore". BTW what Anti-virus are you using ..........I ask because you failed to mention that or which o/s your using . How did you become aware that you have some virus ?

After I load my comp., it always tells me that certain devices or drivers were not loaded because...... (they won't work)...... in more words, or less.

I have narrowed it down to a 'parallel device'. I decided that it was a PRINTER driver. My printer hasn't been working.

I dloaded an XP printer driver, and deleted the P D, and the printer is now working, but, I still get the same message when I boot up.

Was it just a coincidence, and the P D doesn't have ANYTHING to do with the printer?EverJack1.......First has this printer ever worked properly on the XP machine ......because if its an OLDER printer it may not work......or go to the printer manufacturers website and look for one of their drivers that is designed to work with XP . Have you tried uninstalling the printer.....then physically disconnecting the printer cable from the back of your computer .Reboot the pc and check to be sure that there is no printer listed . Then shut down the pc again .......RECONNECT the printer cable to the pc .......turn on the printer ( power to it ) .....now startup your pc .......windows should see the new hardware and install the appropriate driver..... if it cant find one it will ask you for one ....then install the one you got from the manufacturers site .

To test this reboot and re-run them...i'll bet a Pint they will be different again.and to make sure no background task is interfering, like your AV software, reboot into Safe Mode and run them again.The Windows Experience Index ratings are calculated by running a few defined benchmarks and evaluating and weighing them appropriately. The results can sometimes differ slightly with the same hardware due to the running software. You'll get as lower rating if you are for example rendering a video in the background or playing a Blu-Ray and so forth.I was doing some reading on that and apparently MS ABANDONED the Windows Rating finally

I have a desktop, and I factory RESET my desktop awhile AGO, but now when I PLUG in my headphones, the audio works but the microphone doesn't. It will pick up no sounds, except when I click it. They're urBeats and when i click the volume up or down, it will pick up some sound, but nothing ELSE.

recently my pc has been starting to RANDOMLY restart (since 2-3 days). The restarts occur without any specific action from my side.

I deactivated automatic restart. After a while I got the some bsod. The couple first bsod's where mentioning rzudd.sys which is a razor driver for my keyboard. I went on and uninstalled all razor related drivers and components. For a while this worked until the pc again restarted with a memory_managment bsod. I did a memory check(only one pass) and nothing showed up.

Any SUGGESTIONS?!

I would like to use a Dell FLAT screen monitor model E152FP that came with a Dell Dimension 4600 with Windows XP on a Dell Dimension 4100 that is running Windows ME. When I attempt to install by plug and play, computer does not recognize driver provided and freezes up. I have looked for alternate drivers on Dell site without luck and have posted this question on Dell forum without response. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.Quote

Well, I'm not the kind of person to give up and ask on forums, but its got to that point...

The Prob:

Laptop (Not new by anymeans): Win98, has only its floppy drive and a USB, which is soon to be hooked up to my network with a PC-Card Adapter.

Right now the problem lies with a Modem.

As I've tried updatin the Firmware on my Zoom X4 Modem, and sadly broke it (would'nt respond when i uploaded the first part). This Modem was the given to me through Freeserve, or as they like to call themselves Wanadoo, the Drivers that came with the Modem itself have been lost, as I did'nt have any means of using the Modem in the future.

Now the modem is on my main PC which I have to leave on at night so that everyone in the house can share the connection.

I decided instead of wasting another £50 - £100 quid on a new Ethernet ADSL Modem, I would SIMPLY attach the Modem to my old Laptop, and buy a cheap Ethernet Adapter so it can give us the connection.

Sounds simple, It was at first, I downloaded the Drivers from the Modems Manufactures site:

I uninstalled it... Stupid, could have left it all as it was and just unplugged the Modem, but no had to tidy it up, so I uninstalled it...

A few moments later, OMG I'VE GOT A STUNIN IDEA...

Install the Modem once again... huh?

It gets to the point were it should ask me for my CD, but it does'nt ask anything the only thing that installs is the Modems Boot thing, I go to my Device Manager, whats this? device loaders...NTKERN.VXD, oookkk, I've googled the file all night, Downloaded it, STUCK it into the Folders, (C:/WINDOWS/SYSTEM, and there was another SYSTEM/VM32 or somin), nope...

I have a device from a silicone developer and WIN10x64. With this device comes the driver with a good DIGITAL SIGNATURE. But I need to rename the device name "silicone cp210x" to my name "Example" in the device's installation driver. I'm using a utility - CustomUSBDriverWizard.exe to create a renamed installation driver, but the installer is created without a digital signature ".cat" file. Is there a way to create my digital signature for Windows or to adapt the driver certificate for the name of the "silicone cp210x" for my name "Example"?
Disable digital signature verification or contact Microsoft for the digital signature of the driver with my name - these options do not need me. PERHAPS there is a program for editing digital signatures of drivers or creating new digital signatures based on an inf. and sys. file?What you want to do I dont believe can be achieved freely. I'm pretty sure the altered name driver would have to go before Microsoft to be added to the digitally signed driver database, so that its recognized by Windows on all Windows systems for whichever OS versions it supports. Digital signatures indicate that the driver has been TESTED and approved for that OS.The entire purpose of digital signatures is to validate that the thing that they sign has not been altered since it had been signed.

If you want to sign it, you need to pay for an authenticode signing certificate and sign the driver PACKAGE yourself.

I have two hard drives and want to USE both in one computer can somebody tell me how to do this pleaseFirst you will need to alter the jumpers settings of your second hard drive and configure it as a slave. This will probably be marked on the drive itself in the form of a small diagram. If it isn't then you should be able to get the INFO from the manufacturers web site. It is usually a case of moving th white blanking strip one set of pins.

Inside your Computer you will find and ide cable attached to your existing hard drive this will have a spare data plug on it which plugs into the male data socket on your spare hardrive.

You wil then have to find a power cable and plugh this into the appropriate socket on the 2nd Hard Drive. You will probably be able to figure this out by looking at the existing one.

Your BIOS should detect it AUTOMATICALLY once INSTALLED. If not there will be a setting wihin your BIOS that will SAY detect hard disks automatically.

I had this problem on my computer before, but that's when it was running windows 98se. What happened was that i had an onboard video card with driver installed, and then later added a raedon 9600, and forgot to uninstall the driver. The graphics in 3d hardware accellerated games would be distored in a way that really looked like blocks of solid colour flashing and moving on the screen, sometimes looking like rays of light comming from some origin. Anyway, i realized what the problem was eventually and uninstalled the drivers. Now, I reformatted and put windows xp on my computer, and the same thing is happening, however, I can't find the s3 drivers on my computer. I looked in the add/remove programs list where i found them in windows 98, but they're not there. I've noticed XP is stupified for people, and installs THINGS behind they're back so that they don't have to worry about it, and i think maybe that's what's happening. Is there any way to REMEDY this? or does anyone have any other thoughts of what it might be? i'm pretty sure it's the same problem as before, it's just that windows xp is still pretty foreign to me and i'm still getting used to it. any help would be apprectiated. EricGo to the S3 Graphics web site and download one of the following: s3id.exe (DOS) wins3id.exe (windows). You can identify the specific graphics chip, then download a proper driver.the thing is though, i don't really need the drivers for the s3. What the problem was last time was that there were still the drivers for the s3 installed, and it caused the problems with the radeon card. That is what i'm trying to fix here. However i did try going to the site and downloading the files incase installing/upgrading the drivers then uninstalling them would work, but i couldn't find the file that was mentioned to look for. Thanks for your help.Make sure the onboard graphics are disabled. Go into the bios and see what the AGP aperture size is set to. It needs to be set to a size < = total system memory. I would suggest 128M. Very large sizes, 256 or greater, will probably not be good. If you don't have any real memory hogging apps this should not cause a problem but can greatly enhance the performance of your AGP card. You can play around with the setting to find what is ideal for your setup and machine.the card is disabled in the bios. APERATURE is set at 128, and i tried settings below 128 with no improvement. still graphic glitch that involves solid colours, and some flickering in 3d hardware accelleration mode. any other ideas would be appreciatedUse a program such as Driver Cleaner to remove old driver files.still didn't work. I recently installed driveragentplus to see if I had out of date drivers, which I do. Although in device manager it says they are up to date, I have read that I should get the drivers from the manufacturer's site. Only gamers really update drivers and its to have the latest video card drivers as part of bug fixes as well as better video card performance and sometimes even additional shaders etc added to push a GPU harder to generate a better visual experience. On this subject I have even seen people intentionally use an older driver because it performs better, and a newer driver slows performance as the CHIP manufacturer decides to slow it some to get a video card to RUN cooler whereas original or older drivers may have pushed the GPU harder=faster and "hotter". And a gamer who wants maximum performance at the risk of a cooked GPU may chose to run the older driver to have maximum frame rate ( especially if the video card is still covered by warranty which is the perfect time to run it hard and break it to which if you cook it you pretend you didnt know you needed a newer driver to avoid melt down and they replace it for just the cost of shipping to send the card back RMA for replacement. )
I personally would recommend uninstalling that driver agent plus piece of software at your earliest opportunity.
at best, I have only seen those sort of programs make things worse and at worst, infect your system with malware.
I classify them all as nothing more than snake oil pedlars.

as to drivers, just let Windows Updates get them for you naturally through the automated process.
or if you want to manually push that along, go to the manufactures website and get the drivers straight from the source.

if the manufacture, in your case, has no "2016" driver, than there isn't one - and another example of mis-information by these stupid driver assist programs.Going to agree with the sentiments so far. "Driver update" software is useless because the concept of keeping your drivers updated isn't entirely relevant. There isn't really a such thing as an "out of date" driver- It either works, or it doesn't. And having the latest versions largely just means you also have the latest bugs.

It is likely the 2016 indication is referencing the "Radeon Software Crimson Edition BETA" software which dates from 2016. It is a Beta Driver package. The last non-beta version of their driver suite that works with that Graphics APU is from 2015.Agree.
Each manufacture takes irresponsibility to provide update information about the motherboard used in a specific model.

When I GO to sound properties and click on a sound I get an error that says: windows cannot play the sound C:\windows\media\.wav. Your sound may be in use.

But theres nothing that could be using it! PLZZZZZZZZZZZ HELP........ What is going on???find out the make and model of your sound CARD and re-install driver. Is Sound On-board or is it a PCI card?

My system is an intel core i5-2400 CPU 3.10GHZ - Ram 4 GB 64bit x 64. Windows 10 operating system

I have several questions, but this is in BRIEF what happened:

a) Few days there was a Microsoft general on-line update of the system Windows 10 I have. It went fine.
b) Anyway, now I have some problems with my graphic card (i.e. not possible to get access to some games as SIM CITY).
c) My graphic card is NVIDIA GeForce GT370. I have THREE applications in my computer: 1) NVIDIA 3D vision driver 355.82; 2) NVIDIA graphic driver 355.82 and 3) NVIDIA physX system software 9.15.042
d) I tried to update them, but the system pointed out an error and it was not possible to do so.
e) I went to NVIDIA site and I tried to know the state of my GPU. The site told me to update the java system. I did from ORACLE site, but it updated only Java 32-bit. So again, it was not possible to update the drivers.
f) I downloaded but not installed the NVIDIA GeForce 391.01 WHQL driver.

Therefore:

a) What should I do? Download the Java 64 bit from another site? Install the new downloaded drivers?

The java issue only happens when trying to use their detection system. If you select your driver manually from list you will be able to download it. I ran into same issue with my one Windows 10 system when trying to get a Geforce 9800 GT card to get drivers through their site. Additionally I installed the java and it still had issues so I had to manually select my video card from list which was of a series.

Your video card you state is a 370, but I am curious if its actually a 730. If its a GT 730 then you want the 700 series drivers for Windows 10 64 bit. If you run into problems trying to actually install it once you have this driver then you will want to go in and uninstall the prior driver software, reboot the computer to which Windows will GIVE it a generic driver, then install the driver clean which should work successfully.

Note: On my system it looks like Edge Browser is having an issue with the manual selection of drivers, so I switched to my Firefox browser on same system and was able to select the driver that way. Pic below shows the selection for getting the driver for the GT 730. ( You could install the firefox browser to get around this issue like I just did. )

I have tried unistalling and reinstalling drivers, checking for viruses, unchecking enhancements, updating drivers, checked to see if its muted, I even checked to see if it was an issue with the speakers. Nothing seems to fix it.

I restart the computor, the sounds BACK for around 15 minutes then it makes a pop sound and STOPS. if IM wearing earbuds, the pop sound comes through them and the earbuds STOP playing. I dont know whats up with them.

i have a gateway profile 2 that was UPGRADED from windows 98 to 20000.... and the os doesn't have the drivers to open the ethernet port DRIVER! have called gateway! , no recovery CD, and they suck!..... i am presently attached a linksys network usb 2.0 10/100 to allow access to net, but would like to use the port, can't buy a ethernet card as the towel is slim line and won't take a NORMAL card! any help guys? all i get from gateway is to install wondows 98, like *censored* i will........lol..

Hi, I've RECENTLY started encountering a problem with my old HP G6000 LAPTOP. At random intervals the system will hard reset.

The cause according to the crash reports is the WiFi drivers:

"Atheros Extensible Wireless LAN device driver
Bug check description: This indicates that a kernel-mode driver attempted to ACCESS pageable memory at a process IRQL that was too high."

The reason that i'm posting this though is that this is the same driver that I have been using for years and has never been an issue before. I have tried deleting the driver and re-downloading but I get the same results.

Does anyone know what could be causing the problem or have any suggestions for other avenues of investigation?

If you must have a Wireless connection, then try this as a workaround
Buy or borrow an external USB WiFi thing. Disable the built-in device in the BIOS.

The cost of a plain Wireless dongle is a FRACTION of the cost of having the factory repair your laptop.


I'm also inclined to think that the Wi-Fi CARD is failing [yes card, I don't know if that's odd]. The "IRQL was too high" with reference to the Wi-Fi driver from the crash dumps is why I started the investigation on the driver. I knew though that it did not make sense if the driver was intact.

I'm currently leaving the driver as disabled and so far no new crashes.

I'm using my phone as a dongle but I'm sure I've got some old 802.11 N dongles kicking about somewhere.Most laptops use some form of Smaller-form PCIe for their wireless adapter. You may be able to replace it. Note that a lot of laptop manufacturers use a hardware "whitelist" meaning you can't just slap any old Mini PCI Wireless card in there. You may be able to find an identical model available somewhere.

I have been all over the net and have tried various search strategies but cannot find the drivers I need.

My little netbook is a 32-bit system. I reset it to factory settings and then installed Win 7 but cannot find the following, which are showing up with a yellow exclamation mark and show that I have NOTHING at all for them so cannot even identify which manufacturer I should use:

I also have a PCI device yellow exclamation mark, and I am told in properties that there are no drivers installed.

When I tried to get online, I was told I had no intel adapters.



Later, at the suggestion of someone far more knowledgeable than I, I visited https://www.acer.com/ac/en/ID/conten.../3659;-;AOD257 and downloaded the chipset. It installed properly but I am still not ABLE to get online. I cannot find the drivers I need for certain “things” (not computer savvy here).

You need to install the Chipset driver from that page first, then install the LAN Driver. Since you have already installed the Chipset drivers, you should just need to install the LAN driver.worst CASE scenario, if no drivers for Win7 exist, you can go and buy a wireless USB adapter from as little as $AUD20, that way it'll have all the drivers your need.

Loaded win98 SE onto an old DELL Latitude 100L laptop and I want to finish it off so I can play some retro games on it but I’m having trouble getting any drivers on it because the cd/dvd drive doesn’t recognize any cds (even though I USED a cd to put win98 on it) and usb doesn’t recognize. How can I get these running so I can put the drivers on? Thanks!It seems quite like a catch 22 for you. If you can't update drivers, then you'll have a hard time updating the devices that can read new drivers! There's two options I've discovered while doing some digging. First, you can use thread to find a link to an unattended bootable CD: https://msfn.org/board/topic/98369-driver-packs-for-windows-959898seme/?page=4. You will find this link http://www.tmeeco.eu/9X4EVER/GOODIES/W98driverPacksFromUBCD/ which will GIVE you access to driver packs that you can apply to a win98 bootable disk that you will have to create. This involves uppacking the installation FILE and putting them in the directory yourself.

If you don't like that option, you may have to transfer drivers over a network if your computer is ABLE to since your CD drive and USB ports aren't recognizing disks or devices.

If you can't/won't do either option, then I recommend considering moving up to Windows 2000 which is a little more modern but should still be able to play retro games.Are you sayin the CDROM isn't recognised ? ?

So my dad recently gave me his old Sony VGN-Z56GG Laptop, running Windows 7 Professional, and i was just updating and installing new stuff. While installing the drivers I noticed that the GPU drivers weren't getting installed. The GPU in question is an NVidia GeForce 9300M GS. I tried getting the drivers from the official website but that also gave an error saying that the installer isn't compatible with the hardware, and the GPU also started acting funny, showing an error code 43 in device manager. After breaking my head over this issue for 2 days, apparently it turns out that laptop manufacturers are notorious for changing up the hardware and device ID of such components, and that we can only install the driver from the original manufacturer's site. I tried to modify the driver installer itself, but i could see, that my GPU's device ID and other stuff was too DIFFERENT. The only reason why I haven't done that is because the drivers on the site are from 2009, whereas the gpu reached its EOL in 2014.



I then upgraded the laptop to Windows 10, hoping that windows might have drivers for my GPU, but it didn't. The GPU was still showing error 43, so to fix it, I downloaded the drivers from 2009 and tried to install it, but after installing the drivers, the GPU vanished from Device Manager. Turns out, it was hiding as a hidden device with the name VGA Controller. I tried everything to install the drivers, but it now gives error 45. As a last resort, I was(still would if this starts working again) going to flash the VBIOS to an NVidia VBIOS, but nvflash can't detect the gpu.



What should I do now?

Also, if and when this starts working, would you recommend that I should flash my GPU VBIOS?

The laptop manufacturer (or in the case of desktops, the specific hardware manufacturer) is always the first choice. Microsoft often bastardizes drivers, crippling certain features, to insure WIDEST acceptability among various hardware to earn WHQL certification. no argument there, I agree, it's just that I have had in the past where the latest driver from the manufactures website has not worked and the Windows Update one has due to it a) not being the latest, and b) having passed MS tests for compatibility.

as with most things with computers, there is rarely a 'one fix fits all' approach. I wouldn't say I didn't try to update my drivers using windows update, but it didn't work out for me the one TIME i tried using it .

Also I used DDU to uninstall the drivers of my intel gpu and then the nvidia one, and now device manager is giving me error 45.

For reasons unknown my computer has been bluescreening on me for around a month at different times for different drivers and such. I had a problem similar when I installed a new HARD drive where after a short while my computer would BSOD and I tracked the problem to that hard drive and REMOVED it. A while after I STILL get BSOD but not as frequent and most recently with the STOP 0x0000007a. I have checked all drivers and ran chckdsk and have had no luck and simply don't know what to do at this point.

There are over a dozen post or links that sound just Ike your issue. I did not see any reference to a registry edit. At least one said you have to update the BIOS.

I've been trying to search for some site that can help me find the correct driver for my LAPTOP. I have a DELL Inspiron 4000 with Wndows ME. I still have 1.25 GB of RAM LEFT. I also already have an ATI Rage Mobility 128 graphics driver installed, but I don't have a video card driver installed. So I'm trying to see if anyone can help me with finding out which driver(s) is good for my laptop, including a possible UPDATE on my graphics card.Refer to the ATI website.

After buying a new gpu a GT 730 1GB Gddr5 OC i got this weird thing where my screen goes black for about 2-3 seconds and then comes back without any errors or anything. Just usually the game im playing crashes. I then put back my old gpu and the problem was NOWHERE to be seen. I say alright maybe its a bad gpu. I go to the store i bought it and tell them whats up. A week later the gpu comes out as absolutely fine out of the shop back to me. They checked it at max load and had no issues. Which pretty much points out that there is something with my cpu. I have a 400W psu so thought it might be that but then i unplugged all my optical drives (i had 2) and took out some pci card and pretty much freed up alot more power if that was the problem and it still HAPPENS. When i lower my cpu overclock it also doesnt change at all. LOWERING the gpu factory overclock also does nothing. I tried 2 sets of drivers and nothing. I have all the latest drivers for every component in my pc. I updated with driver easy pro so yeah.If it's a budget PSU "freeing up" power ain't gonna do nothing...

:(i have the DAVIDEO instillation disc for transfering cassettes to cd but am unsure what TV card i am to buy, and what cable i need to link video player to computer.any ADVICE PLEASE?

PC was running FINE. Then I installed a game called Banished. Since installing that game, everything is fine while I'm PLAYING it, but afterward, audio sounds LIKE it has an overlay of static that starts softly and grows worse over TIME, eventually becoming intolerable. Also, videos play fine for a few minutes then the video and audio lose sync.

I got a new comp. from my friend (Windows 98, 64 Mb RAM, 5.0xxGB HD) and I tried to install a modem I took from my old comp.,but the new oe didn't have the driver for it, or the old one that came with it. foa when i got this laptop for repair, bios was locked, password which client don't remember.

secondly i tried to install windows 7 on win10
after that when i turn the lappy on it says "windows boot manager has been blocked by the current security policy'
when i click on that it says"no bootable device. hitany key"
again i click ok then another screen pop up which says
" boot option menu 1. windows boot manager"
but i cannot select anything in there.
when i press enter it again restart the laptop.

other problems which relate to this problem is my f2 key does not work.

I have a notebook computer with a DVD Rom, and when I play DVDs, every so often media PLAYER freezes up and shuts down. Ive TRIED other software and it does the same. Its usually in the same scenes of the DVDs each time.
I have an IBM Notebook with 900mhz and 256MB Ram and 15GB hard drive with Windows XP
I have a Hitachi DVD Rom GDS250
Any advice on how to fix this problem

SarahCheck that you have the LATEST verson of Media Player and scan for Viruses. If that doesn't work, try another program to play your DVD's.

When you go to control panel/system/Hardware / device manager .......then go to monitor ....does it not show a plug and play monitor? I think you looking for updated drivers for your vidio card not your monitor

The latest ATI (Catalyst) drivers seem to CREATE two entries in TASK Manager. Cli.exe and Cli.exe.

Why two?

Not to mention it also OPENS approximately 16 CONNECTIONS to 127.0.0.1.

I have windows XP and I was wondering if anyone knew of a codec or SOMETHING that would allow my computer to read Chinese and Japanese characters?

I have a LOT of files that have oriental names and they just APPEAR as boxes since my system can't read them- in the media PLAYER and on MSN for example.

Does anyone know of how I could get something so my computer can read these?

I recently installed Windows 7 on laptop its a DELL Inspiron 3520 with an Intel core( TM) i3 CPU. 4 Bg Ram, 500 MB HD and a 64 bit OS. Service tag GRZX9V1 ( Express Service Code ). i went to the Dell Website but i DIDNT see them

Try to Install the latest updated Laptop drivers for FREE from the best DRIVER providers or directly from the Dell website. Issue: laptop's on-board discrete graphics card (AMD radeon 7670m) is only detected as 'Microsoft Basic Display adapter' - attempting to install drivers prompts that windows finds the current DRIVER is most updated, does not want to install the 7670m card drivers on Hp support site


Specs:

HP envy 6-1118tx sleekbook

i7-3517u

intel hd 4000 integrated graphics

AMD Radeon 7670m discrete graphics

Windows 8.1 updated to sometime october this year

All drivers are off of the HP support site found using my device code


Problem description:

So far, the intel hd 4000 integrated graphics works normally but the discrete graphics card is only detected as 'Microsoft basic display adapter' despite my best attempts at telling windows otherwise.

When did the problem start?

over the past 2 years I wasn't ABLE to use this computer often, but I did update to windows 10, after which a great many things didn't work, but updates and other fixes managed to fix them - except my being able to play games that needed to switch to the discrete card. I googled a little, saw that there weren't going to be WIN10 supported drivers for this card, so I MADE the choice to downgrade to win8.1 Ever since, I haven't been able to get this card going.


Attempts to fix:

Reinstalled the whole OS, about 6 times first using HP recovery, when that didn't work, wiped everything (recovery partition and all) and got an 8.1 ISO off of the microsoft website and installed that.

All driver installations and updates work until attempting to install the driver for the discrete graphics card. Installing that promptly causes BSOD and the failure prompt for ATIKMPAG.sys.


Forced attempt [1] to install the 7670m discrete card driver:

1. extract the corresponding driver from hp Support site to a directory

2. right click 'microsoft basic display adapter' > update driver

3. Choose from ..

4. point to extracted directory, 'next'

This prompts windows to say that the microsoft basic display adapter is already the most updated version


Force attempt [2] to install the 7670m discrete card driver:

1. extract the corresponding driver from hp support site to a directory

2. run setup file in that directory

This causes the setup to execute. BUT windows doesn't seem to think that's a driver.

3. right click - update offending adapter > choose from.. > choose the installation directory of step 2.

This makes windows recognize a 'AMD 7600 series display' with a yellow ! triangle, code 43.

I attempt to follow this 'expand' command. however, unlike the 'atikmpag.sys' mentioned in the second link above, I have:

2 of atikmpag.sy_ and 2 of atikmdag.sy_ (from different root directories) originating from one installation.


the atikmpag.sy_ is 500+ KB wheras the atikmdag.sy_ is 10+ MB.


I try following the instructions one by one.

expand.exe atikmdag.sy_ atikmpag.sys

expands into a 27MB file which I place in the system32/drivers folder and restart.

This doesn't work - doesn't throw a different error, nor does it cause a BSOD. just error code 43.


expand.exe atikmpag.sy_ atikmpag.sys

gives me a 650KB file and an error message: cannot expand atikmpag.sys onto itself.


I ignore that and put that file into system32/drivers/ and restart.

This time, it works! Sort of. the 7600m series does not show a yellow ! sign, says the device is working normally.

BUT intel hd4000 throws a code 43, yellow !.

dxdiag shows my display to be only a microsoft basic display adapter.

so no, it doesn't work.


Now, I'm at my wit's end trying to fix this. Any help would be most appreciated.Possible try the program Snappy Driver Installer? It's worked very well for me EVEN when the company's own drivers did not want to install correctly.
