Alright, BACK to posting.
Super Dave, i tried that and unfortunately nothing... Now I didn't have SP3 installed, somehow i missed that, that shouldn't effect anything though.? Still, i do plan on getting that up to date and trying again.

Along those lines: i realised i didn't have my system up to date so i installed the 98 (or such) priority updates i needed. I then downloaded the DRIVER that windows update suggested for it. Same results.

Good point spacecat9, but that's an issue i discovered who knows how long ago. At this point i do have a 550w psu in there. One interesting thing that this does bring up, though, is that, if i remember correctly, it actually worked when I had the lower grade psu in there. It's possible i still didn't have the driver installed at that point, and it could have to do with the driver that was running at that point and what my system was set up as, who knows. Just SOMETHING i thought i should bring up incase sp3 doesn't do it for me.where can i download software for free.

I remembered something else that could be connected. It's really its own problem, but i thought i should CHECK if it could be causing this problem as well before i abandoned this topic.

For whatever reason i can only use one of my two RAM slots. It's not that only one of the two work... it's that only one slot can be used at a time. I've tried different ram cards and know that's not the problem.

I won't go two much into detail, i'll make this it's own topic if i need to.

I just wanted to know if this might be connected?

Right, at least the problems on my PC are now little annoying ones rather than large damaging ones I've been having a few issues with my VGA device and the drivers. I was hoping I could get a few bits of INFO to help me out.

Asus seem to have denied all knowledge of creating this motherboard: Asus M3A32-MPV DELUXE. I can't say that I blame them, this board was SHIPPED out with many manufacturing defects but was removing the drivers from their website necessary? Anyway, I still have the original CD that the mobo came with (joy, out of date drivers) but it only contains 32-bit drivers. Is there a world wide petition to ban "driver detective" programs? I wish to sign one.When ASUS comes out with a line of boards that are mainly marketed to white box builders they usually do this...

I did 2 identical eMachines this time last YEAR and could find little or no support/documentation on the board at both ASUS and the eMachines sites...Finally found 64-bit drivers. They were on the motherboard installation CD, which I only checked to find out the name of the sound CARD. Apparently ASUS are retards and forgot to include 64-bit compatibility for the auto run program on the disc. Anyway now I get random crackles and pops from the speakers, like when opening certain folders (i.e. My Videos). Any ideas why? Other than the fact that I'm using an UNSUPPORTED OS (Win7).

Hi all,

Last night i was copying files from my USB stick to my computer but mid-way my computer crashed. Now when I plug in my memory stick and try and OPEN it a message appears telling me that it needs to be reformatted before it can be opened. It also says that by agreeing to do this all DATA will be deleted from it.
Is there any way i can recover the files I have on the memory stick?

I have a Toshiba Satellite A305-S6905 laptop. It has Windows Vista on it. The card reader has quit again.
It's done this before and I just uninstalled it and then downloaded and installed the Ricoh Driver from Toshiba's website and that fixed it right up.

This time though it's not working. Here's the confusing part. When I download the Ricoh Driver and Open it it shows it's extracting the Ricoh Card Reader Driver which is good. Then the next screen says Welcome to the Logix Pro 500 Simulator SETUP Wizard.

Now Logix Pro is my dh's PLC/electrical PROGRAM. Why are these getting CROSSED over? What can I do to fix my reader?

What site are you getting the drivers from ? ?I figured it out. It seems it's a glitch with Firefox. I'm downloading it directly from Toshiba and I just downloaded it with IE and it works perfectly now.

How aggravating. I've spent over an hour trying to download this darn thing. I seriously doubt it was FireFox's fault here...

Hello all. I would LIKE some feedback on this.

I have seen so many comparisons about a Mac Book Pro and non-Apple laptops.

It would seem to me that IF you did configure a Windows based laptop with everything a Mac Book Pro has the Windows based laptop is a little less expensive.

My view on this is that with a non-Apple laptop you have greater choice. You don't need to buy a Cadillac when all you need is a Chevrolet.

Yes I can spend $3000 on a non-Apple laptop if I need that level of ability or I can spend $700 for a more basic machine. I have the choice.

Also the myth that Apple users are some how smarter than Windows users. I think the average Apple user is just as dumb as the average PC user.

Will start with system specs (will run Everest when I get home, at work now):

and the problem child, Sapphire Radeon HD 3650 AGP

So here is the problem. My old video card was on the verge of departing the world of the living, so decided to upgrade it before it died. Since I am too cheap to upgrade MB to PCI-E, went with Radeon 3650 HD. I went ahead and downloaded the most up to date drivers (not including Catalyst Control Center as I despise it) so they would be ready for installation.

Card gets here, I uninstall old drivers, pop old card out, pop new card in, turn machine on, go to install drivers, and nothing. Get it unpacked, starts the installation process, and then No drivers for your hardware found, stopping installation. So I go back and check and check again that I have the right drivers, and they are the same from both ATI and Sapphire, the most up to date drivers for that series. I think to myself maybe need to install the drivers that came with it, so do that, and they install, but not without whining about not being windows certified (not sure if that is pertinent or not). I then tried to update the drivers to most current version, same result, no drivers for your hardware.

Normally if drivers are working, I won’t bother updating, however now I am getting random BSOD's with stock drivers. I am a big WoW addict, happens most often when I alt+tab out to find something, and stack dump with WIN32k.sys error with page file error. I have also gotten an ATI3duag.dll error as well with BSOD.

I know this is probably a driver issue, however have yet to find a solution, so I am hoping that those of you who are much smarter than me can help. Sorry for the length, but wanted to make sure you had all the info, and I am still probably missing some important bit. Thanks in advance!

Might as well close this, never got an answer. ThanksTry to put a search in for 'catalyst agp hotfix' on the Amd update web site. You can get the 9.8 hotfix drivers through this method.
Use the ATI uninstall tool in the ADD/REMOVE to get rid of the old driver then reboot and install the hotfix.

Please mention also what Web Browser and version do you use.i use mozilla 3.2 latest version and yes i close my browser and when i reopen for example a ups or fed ex page just 5 min after i closed it goes back to the beginning page where i have to settle the country etc...

hi, I have just bought a new laptop about a MONTH AGO and now the CD driver is not working...........??
it has been working as i have ripped music into my library.
when i PUT a CD or DVD in the drive it makes a noise which i think is the motor but it wont PLAY the disc/s

what would happen if i uninsulated it ? would i be able to INSTALL the driver again?

I have an ASUS WL-138g WIRELESS PCI card in my PC. The card works perfetly under XP but when installed under Vista and 7 I get a message saying "The capability of your network adapter does not match the requirements of this network."

This error appears on every network that SHOWS in the list so I am sure the problem is not with my router.

I had to install the XP drivers that I found on the ASUS website (I got the card for £5 without a CD and had to buy an external antenna) so I think that I need Vista drivers but I can't find any. I can't use Windows Update or Everest Home because there is no internet connection, It is a DESKTOP PC and I would rather not have to move it to the router.

If anyone has Vista drivers or knows how to stop the The capability of your network adapter does not match the requirements of this network" message; please tell me.

Hello, my mom has a desktop computer, with windows xp, service pack 3.. she is elderly and doesnt know a whole LOT about computers so when I came over today I said I would take a look and see if I could find some help for her. Her computer has been freezing up on her very often since she said about a week ago , when starting up the computer we get a black screen it SAYS Drive 2 not found, Parallel ATA , PATA - 0 (PRI IDE MASTER) Strike F1 Key to continue or F2 to run setup utility. When I HIT F1 it does start up without any more errors but still running really slow. I did some of the steps in the virus section and got up to the supera anti spyware step, I did a complete scan on there and it found 188 threats, I quarentined and removed them and then rebooted when done, the black screen came up again when rebooting. So now I am here SAYING please help? sounds like a loose connection or one of the drives is failing
also did you check the Bios setings?I do not really know much about computers, we can check the cables but what do I do with the Bios? And how?

Here's the scoop.

My Lexmark x1270 all in one wouldn't scan or copy. It would print, but not perform the other functions. I tried to update the drivers from a previous download, but it wasn't helping. My Device Manager showed that the USB port wasn't being recognized. So, I did what I've done before: I uninstalled all the USB ports with the intent of reinstalling them so they'd be all fresh and clean again.

One problem, though. A couple of MONTHS ago, I did something that I'm finding was a big mistake. I compressed my files. As a result, the file that held the printer drivers was compressed, and I think the drivers for the USB ports were also compressed. My device manager says they don't exist anymore. So I'm trying to find the proper drivers to replace them. I know that Microsoft isn't supporting XP anymore, and the Lexmark drivers currently available are for Vista. So, I'm looking for help in findin these drivers so that I can replace the squished ones. Unless anyone has another IDEA to help.

I went to the Lexmark support chat and got a new copy of the printer drivers, but I'm not sure how to reinstall the USB ports. I can't seem to find ANYTHING on Microsoft's site (perhaps I just don't know where to look), though I did pick up all the updates, both required and optional. Can someone point me in the right direction for the USB drivers?

It may just be the driver is nmot made for the oS you are using.

Try visiting the manu site of the card maker and looking for a specific driver for your oS.We don't know what card it is...

i clicked on the LINK but the same problem was there...the icon SHOWS up in the taskbar like it always would and when i go to SPEAKERS or DIGITAL output options it says no jack information is available...when it worked it said rear panel or front panel...do you THINK this has anything to do with it?

Here is the problem. I have never used the microphone on this computer before. I went the other day and plugged it into the 3.5 plug and went to test it. When I opened up the sound recorder to record, the lines didn't move. I played it back and you could faintly hear the recording. I went into my sound volumes, made sure all the audio recording things were turned up. Still same thing. Plugged the microphone into the audio plug in the back..same issue..you could record, lines barely moved, but in playback you have to turn your volume up.

So..I installed the webcam that I normally use on the other computer, to see if the microphone that is built into was having an issue. It works perfectly, while recording the lines moves etc and playback is how it should be.

Go out today buy a USB port microphone thinking perhaps it just the plug...nope...USB port micro doing same thing as it did with the plug.

Uninstalled the driver, DOWNLOADED the never version, guess what? Yep..same issue.

Is there a setting somewhere on this computer that is off and I just haven't located it? I have to be honest and tell you that it is the darnest thing I have ever seen.double click the speaker icon in the right boddem corner and turn the microphone

Did...even went to the sound controls in the control panel and checked all the properties to make sure all the sliders were all the way up..just the darnest thing I have ever seen.

Also went and used a few extra microphones I got thinking perhaps it was one of them..wasn't. Both FRONT and back 3.5 jack do the same thing..

The only thing that I notice that is *odd* is that on the Realtek properties under the Audio properties it is greyed out so I can adjust those sliders, but the sliders under the control panel and speaker volume I can..and those bad BABIES are pushed up.i think this is how you on xp but i am not sure because i am using vista right now:
right click on my computer click properties
SELECT the hardware tab
click device manager
expand the sound an video game catigory and is there any yellow or red marks next to the devices in the
audio catigory?
also CHOOSE your sound device click properties and on the drivers tab select update driver

Now open "my documents" or any other folder, and write the letter of the usb flash drive (G:) at the address bar. Press Enter. You should have accessed your USB.if this is a laptop try wiggleing it around maybe reboot too

Windows will not recognise an unformmated drive...
Use the cD that shipped with the drive to prep it or if you didn't get one DLoad the FREE tools from the drive manuf. site.

This is first time I am using these kind of forum with a hope that someone might be able to help me out.

I have HP Pavilion dv 1000 notebook PC. Recently, I reformated it and tried to installed Win XP professional. while I was installing with xp cd, at one place it gave me ERROR that driver.cab file can not be installed and if I want to continue i should skip and keep going, which I did. I used two different xp cd to install it properly but it shows the same error with both cds. Now, after installing the XP professional, I am facing lots of problems in terms of drivers. My device manager shows lots of yellow mark under other devices ? ! . I tried to download all the softwares from HP website for this perticular LAPTOP dv1000 but NONE is working and I am not sure why. On the top of all this, My WLAN ICON at the bottom at right side shows a X mark ( disabled) and when I click it to enable it, it says " This device has been disabled in windows device manager. To enable this devie use windows device manager". I go to windows device manager but i can't find anything disabled under network adapters. Now i can not enable the WLAN because I can't find it in device manager to enable it.


I know you guys must have read these kind of issues before and might have answered it as well. I tried to search for the answers but I couldn't get exact solution yet. I will be very thankful if someone could just help me out here.

Hello, i have recently reformatted my harddrive and then reinstalled windows xp + serverpack 2, evrything seemed to work fine except i lost my Network Drivers so off to the shed WENT this computer because i had just recently got a new one as well as a new monitor. Today i got the old computer back out the shed hoping to install the network drivers and other drives back on it but when i started it up there was a problem. In trying to help a friend out, I thought I could load a clean install of xp home on his compaq v3000 LAPTOP. Since he didnt have the disc or any other info ( he has the sticker that has the win xp home product key number). So I just decided to format the hard drive and use a xp home disc i had ( It didnt have any drivers on it) and then use his product key number. What I didnt know was one of the partitions on the HD probably had all the help that I needed. I removed all the partitions and then made one big one. What a mistake that was. So now I got XP home loaded on it, but its missing all the drivers. I CANT get online because of this lack of drivers. Ive looked in various driver web sites including the HP and the Compaq site but they all show such a variety of drivers I cant pick out the ones that I really need. Compaq says they will send me a driver disk for $17 but who knows how it will take to get it. When I look at device mgr. there are several yellow question marks next to different PCI items plus several others. So does anybody have any suggestions on how I can get this computer up and running soon.

By the way, how much did he PAY?I think he said $75 got it back same day.That's not a bad deal...Remains dto be seen. A friend of a Friend did it who works in a computer shop. I havnt seen it yet so I wont say for sure if it was a deal or not.

Hi there

I am running Windows XP home edition (Service pack 3) on a COMPAQ Presario R3000

Recently my computer was worked on by my "computer man" and after the service pack 3 update the USB ports stopped working.

I have unistalled them in device manager and restarted the computer. The computer recognizes the new hardware and when prompted I have INSERTED the computers application and driver recovery DVD and selected update drivers.

The process begins HOWEVER halfway through the process it stops and states that access is denied.

I have been told to do a windows recovery....I have looked and looked and there is NO driver available anywhere, this is a simple question and microsoft and compaq have NO ANSWERS.

I am incredibly frustrated and need ASSISTANCE spelled out very simply.

Thank youI would try re-installing the MBoard chipset drivers from Compaq or from the Driver CD that shipped with the machine...

v. rajuCeleron is a CPU...you need to find out what motherboard you have...they SUPPLY the Drivers.

I had to reformat and reinstall everything....everything seems to be working except a newer external HARD drive that is usb 2.0....worked fine before SYSTEM crashed...if I GO into the driver folder on the cd that CAME with the system..there is a driver for usb 2.0....can I just replace the old file in the windows folder with the file on the cd? or will that screw up more things?An external HDD should not require DRIVERS...try it on another Port.

I just got married and the PHOTOGRAPHER gave me all my pictures on DVD+R and for some reason my computer will not reconize that i put anything in the drive.

the driver it has says this on the outside. Label Flash DVD Multi recorder RDS RW Dvd+R DL Compact Disc rewritable.

Hello! I have downgraded my Laptop from Vista to XP using a slipstreamed installer using Nlite to integrate driver for my AHCI SATA Controller. All hardware were installed successfully except for the 7 Unknown devices displayed on Device Manager.

The following devices were successfully installed:
1. AMD Chipset bundled with HD 3200 Graphics Video.
2. IDT HD Audio device.
3. Realtek RTL8102E Family PCI-E Fast Ethernet NIC.
4. Broadcom Wireless Network controller.
5. Agere HDA MODEM.
6. Synaptics Touchpad.
7. JMicron Card Reader.
8. HP Quicklaunch Button.

Moral: check for available drivers BEFORE changing OS.Thank you for the advice..I have already downloaded these drivers before I reinstall WINDOWS, and all of them WORKED except for these 7 Unknown Devices in Device Manager. The laptop is now running fine despite of these unknown devices that are not being installed. I know it is my responsibility to PREPARE needed drivers for my system before any modification, but I honestly don't use Vista..I am using XP SP3 in my desktop PC quite a few years and without problems that's why I also downgrade Vista to Windows XP..

Hope someone in this community can help me find correct drivers for my system..

HP of course officially doesn't SUPPORT that model with XP as an OS. So the easy way of obtaining those drivers is non-existent.

I have looked around for you a bit at the most logical places I could think of. This seems to be your best bet. Although I wouldn't call it a safe a bet, and will definitely be a learning experience the whole way!
