I'm trying to usea soundcard from my old computer, but I can't find find the drivers anywhere. I tried downloaded drivers from the manufactures website but they didn't work. EDIT: I found them. The computer was a gateway and the soundcard came with it, so I went to GATEWAYS site and found the drivers.

And I think it's causing my games to freeze. I tried it before in order to get L2 and R2 on the PS3 controller to work like triggers on the PC. It didn't work, and it made games freeze when I tried using the PS3 controller. I thought I got rid of it then, now that other games are freezing too, I'm noticing it's not actually gone and I cant for the life of me get rid of the freaking thing.

First of all there's no uninstall executable, just a txt file labelled "uninstal" (second L missing). It has its own program in the control panel. It doesn't show up on Programs and FEATURES for me to uninstall. I searched the windows folder for PPJoy and deleted what I could out of despiration, but its still there. It keeps showing up in device manager in some form or another. First it was "unknown devices", now its in "Sound, Video, and Game controllers". It shows up as "Parallel Port Joystick Bus".

I'm heavily leaning towards this being whats freezing my games, since games started freezing as soon as I hooked it up for use with the PS3 controller, it would seem other games don't like having it on the system at all. But I'm NOT looking for trouble shooting on the freezing, I'll worry about that if I narrow it down to that. All I WANT right now is this crap off my computer.Have you searched at all on Google to see if there's a removal tool or what exactly you need to uninstall?TRY installing PPJoy, one last time. Then, goo into the control panel and try uninstalling it from there. SOMETIMES Windows might hiccup when uninstalling stuff and miss a few things that still affect the system. Reinstalling PPJoy will replace all of the logs and settings files, so the uninstaller can try to properly remove it again.

When i try to run graboid a legal video download program i get an error saying port 11234 and 119 are blocked. I thought it might be my symantec antivirus since that is the only thing that has changed since i GOT my computer refreshed two weeks ago after some maleware. I uninstalled it, added graboid to the windows firewall exception list and opened the ports. Still no luck, any suggestions?Do you have a wireless router or DSL modem with a firewall turned on?

My SB X-Fi driver has stopped working on me for some reason. When I DL'ed the latest driver and tried to reinstall it I was given this error: "You have previously installed drivers without rebooting. Please reboot and try again." I then rebooted, uninstalled all creative software, drivers and deleted the Creative FOLDER but nothing worked. I then tried CCleaner and this:http://nomoregoatsoup.wordpress.com/2007/09/12/how-to-fully-uninstall-creative-vista-drivers-solve-install-problems/ but nothing worked as well. When I go into device manager and uninstall it, Windows tries to install its own driver but it too fails to install.

What should I do next?are you SURE that the new driver is win7 compatible? That'd be my first item to check.

Also, is the "windows own driver" is the same one it was using before when it worked? If not, have you tried using the one that had worked before?Yes, the new drive is Win 7 compatible as it was working before and windows' own driver was working too before. I emailed Creative support but they TOLD me, "BASED upon your product's date of purchase, it appears you're beyond the
complementary telephone (60 days) and e-mail (1 year) support period. " So they will not help me from their end.

All of this started when the auto update softwarewas installed and started to update on its own.

See if you can go back to before you started messing with the driver.

I don't think that is possible as I do not save any of the system restores. I will try and physically remove the card and clean out the registry and stuff then put the card back in and see what happens. Now I'm using on board sound so it is not too critical to have the card working.

I recently installed Vista 64 on a Mobo 761GXK8MB (Foxconn), which was originally running XP Home (32BIT) All went well until I tried to install drivers from the disc which came with the board, a message was displayed 'This Driver Disc is not for this MOTHERBOARD' However, I did manage to get all the drivers online in the end. I am so curious to know why this happened, as the disc worked perfectly when used to install XP. Has anyone any idea why this should happen? I understand that this is not a problem per se within the context of the FORUMS wonderful ABILITY to solve problems, but as I said I am really curious! According to that INFO the BIOS is not detecting it at all...

Also if you do get it running you may consider some RAM...256 is a minimum for XP to RUN properly...well, I did try putting the cd in the dvd rw but no luck. I wanted to OPEN the computer but am having no luck. I push the tabs -one side releases but not the other. wanted to see if I could RESET the bios rocker switch. I'm just grasping at straws at this point. Figure I have nothing to loose.

Driver Agent is junk...DLOad and run Everest Home edition and it will TELL you more about your MACHINE than you need to know.
From there we can assist finding drivers.

Hi all.
OS = XP Home.
I sat on my daughters d-link DWL g132 wireless adapter.
I bought her a new one, thought it would just plug STRAIGHT in with no messing, it didn't.
Thought the driver may be different, however, I cannot delete the old d link software nor can i install the new, It starts to do something then just stops.
I have tried add remove and uninstalling it manually but no luck.
I have also ran a reg cleaner in case it had left something making the install disc think it was ALREADY installed.
I have alaso tried system restore.
Any clues?
Cheershow about uninstalling/installing the driver in safe mode..Possibly a good idea before i got a bit mad and started uninstalling manually.
i am now in the process of SEARCHING the registry as i cannot find any trace of any dlink or air plus stuff on the c drive.

Okay. So TODAY I put in a cd in my cd-rom, when I wanted to take it out (1 or 2 hours later) my cd-rom didn't open simply just did not open. I press the button and still doesn't open. I go to My Computer and right click on the driver icon and click on eject, still no use. So I restart the computer the suddenly (after the computer completely loads properly) the cd-rom opens by it's self. So a little while later I suddenly realise that my Cd driver has disappeared. I mean it's not in My Computer any more. So I put in a cd and the computer doesn't read it, and once again the cd gets STUCK in there, i re-start the computer and then the cd rom opens. So how did my cd driver randomly disconnect? And also how could I re-install it without the installation cd (if one is needed).The drive is probably dead...how old is it ? ?

ok I got Aspire One AO751h and the OS is XP, but here is the DEAL I got the piece of crap for like 6 moth AGO and I have been all over the internet but I haven't find a anything close to the XP DRIVER. I have been sending them mail but haven't got a answer, and I found some drivers but that is for Vista.

I have even try to get one of those driver update program thingy, but they only work if your drivers are already installed. I got a CD but that is for the Vista, and I can't return it bc it's 1+ moth old...

I installed software that creates virtual CD drives, and it broke Nero 6 from recognizing the CD-RW drive as a CD-RW drive. I uninstalled the virtual CD Drive software which creates images of CD's so constant swapping or CD in drive is not required, but Nero 6 is still not detecting a supported drive to burn CDs. I uninstalled Nero 6 and reinstalled it and still have same problem.

Anyone know where I should look or am missing if software has been uninstalled and Nero 6 reinstalled, and drive is not supported.

I took this CD-RW drive to another system and it works to burn discs, but this system is messed somehow. HOPING i can fix this without having to rebuild as it is HIGHLY configured.

I tried what you suggested and rebooted. It confirmed so I know it took the change. But still same results. Attached you will see that in the drop down for Nero 6 the Samsung CD-RW drive is not an option as it used to be and default is showing to create a .nrg or .iso save image file. The CD-RW device is missing from list. It use to be selectable prior to the http://www.cdrom-emulator.com/ install which broke it. Of course they deny it was their software, but all was well before their software on this XP Pro SP3 system.

It used to have Image Recorder CD-RW with Samsung CD-RW below it. Image Recorder only creates image files unfortunately.

Maybe there is something else to be tweaked in registry. I am guessing that the key change you gave me was the base config from a clean box which would have resolved changes maybe?

Using WINDOWSXP SP3 then TRIED SP2. When I power on the PC, the USB keyboard works but not the built-in trackball. It appears to be using the bios driver. To get the proper driver to work I have to UNPLUG the USB connector and PLUG it back in. Then the APPROPRIATE driver is used and it starts working. Any suggestions?

i have comcast hi-spedd internet with an arris modem and need to hook it to my pc via USB not ethernet "broken ethernet port" but it says put in disc to INSTALL drivers but vista is supposed to just work with the usb support with no need to install drivers but it still asks for the install disc. How can i hook up my pc to internet with the usb cord? I have Dell 6p811-a00 DVD Rom drive. I bought it from eBay. It reads CD-Rom and DVD just fine but when I went to burn a DVD the software would not recognize that it is a DVD Rom drive and would only allow burning of CD Roms. I guess I need a driver for it to correctly recognize this is a DVD Rom drive?

I checked Dell's website but, as usual, their website is TOTALLY useless and I could not find anywhere to download a driver for this model of DVD-Rom drive.

The burner software is some Roxio software that came with the drive and was on a CD-Rom and I installed it but never have used it before. Maybe just the software sucks? If so, could I download some freeware DVD burning software that would work with it?Go to the dell support website and enter your service tag number. Then go to the downloads for your specific system. I built a computer out of some old and new parts. The pc uses an eMachines W3052 mother board and the processor it came with (AMD Semperon 3000+). I installed a sata card so I could install a 1tb Sata HDD for media storage. I installed the DRIVE correctly and installed the drivers from the cd it came with. My pc does recognize the sata card but my drive wont show up in My Computer. I am currently running XP Pro on this MACHINE. Any ideas on why I can't access my larger drive? Do I need to update my BIOS? Should I update to Vista? When I look under computer management it shows the drive but I cant LOCATE it and it does not show up in my computer. PLEASE Help!Quote

I just restored my Emachine (model T2865). I put the drivers on the computer but I can't understand how to get them to work. I have easily unzipped dell drivers and never had a PROBLEM with a dell computer. It just put all the drivers in a folder on my desktop labeled NVIDIA. It lists audio,ethernet, etc... but will not let me install them? anyone ever have this problem?

Thanks You need to GO into the folders to which you EXTRACTED the drivers and run the "setup.exe" or "install.exe" files. Be sure to install the chipset driver first. After installing the drivers you can delete the folders to which you extracted them.Thanks for responding. I can't find a chipset icon. Also when I click on audio or ethernet icons it GIVES me an uninstall function? I check the device manager and their is still question marks next to each driver. I restarted as well. I have never ran into this problem before.Some drivers do an uninstall and then you do a reinstall after the reboot. I did a RealTek audio just a couple hours ago that did just this.

I've been hunting for DRIVERS all over, and I tried the installer already on the C: drive, but it said there was a missing INF file, I believe.With laptops it's generally best to obtain drivers from their site...even if others are available...Do a system restore to before the driver was deleted.

When I turned on my computer it said 'installing device DRIVER software. Searching preconfigured driver folders.'
It was for an 'OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller' So I don't know what that is. I tried to TURN the computer off and it took about 15 minutes. I recognize the number 1394, I think it was part of the name of one of my internet connections that came with my computer. If I'm remembering right and that's what it is, it's not under my connections anymore (on my Acer eSettings Management tab thing). Now I have RAS Async Adapter under my connections, and I'm pretty sure it wasn't there before. My only internet connection is dialup and I have Windows Vista. I'm just wondering if somehow this can be used to hack my computer? Hey. This may not be related, but this issue started when my Webroot Spysweeper encounter a trojan, which was Quarantined after it found it. At this point the system sounds stopped working (start up, clicking on items, etc), but I could play music using Winamp. I did some searching on the net and performed a few of the recommended tasks to fix this issue.

The problem is is that no sounds will play at all now and I get the PC speaker beep when windows loads, and also when I am asked if I want to close a box (like mozilla in the Task Manager). Also, and this may be as a result of the PC installing/looking for other drivers (not SURE), but each time I load up windows (from a restart) it locks up my internet browser and I need to close it (which takes ~15 min to close) since it goes to the not responding state. I will attach a PICTURE of the items in the device manager and maybe you can guide me on what to do?? I'm really fed up with this and I cannot find the correct driver or what to do. I tried downloading a driver off of Dell's website, since I think they have the rights to the version I need, but I was thinking that the correct driver is probably still on the PC somewhere.

This problem has presisted over time it has just stopped working. When i boot up windows about a week ago the driver would run but every now and again it would not boot or run. and to fix that i would just reboot and it would boot. but about a couple days later i boot up and it will not boot up if i plug in a device like headphones it wont pop it and it doesnt even tell windows that i have a audio driver. I have TRIED installing he new driver but it gives me a (windows installion QFE some file name Failure) i have looked up that file and tried to install it but it says something about windows setup file could not find .inf so i am very lost right now and you help would be great.

i have upon turning on my computer a message that saies at least ONE attribute is above its range. It saies number 1720. It will let me start my computer when i press f1. at the bottom it saies i should do a driver self test in ROM setup. I do not know how to get there. Please advise DEL KEY or F2 key or F10 key. I have a Dell C840 laptop with a 'stick' and touchpad that I can't SEEM to get working. I d/l-ed the driver from the Dell site and INSTALLED it; the mouse properties show that I have it installed and Device Manager shows that it is working properly...but...I get no MOVEMENT on the pad with either the stick or the pad. I do have an external USB wheel mouse plugged in that does work.

I have a D600 Latitude as well that has the Alps software/driver (5.4.104.4, dated 10/19/2005). However, the driver I d/l-ed from the Dell site is 5.4.102.8, dated 8/21/2004. I cannot seem to find the 2005 version for d/l.

I also noticed that when I click on the 'touchpad icon' (at the bottom RIGHT for the screen), I get a 'Mouse Properties' window different from what I get when I do the same thing on the D600 laptop, i.e., the D600 laptop has about 2X more tabs from which to choose than does the version on the C840....hence I assume is the difference and difficulty.

yesterday i got attacked by viruses so today i reformatted w/ windows xp 32bit i put in my abit driver cd that CAME with my abit ip35 pro mobo installed the drivers, RESTARTED computer initiallized by the end of the installation and looked in network connectons and nothing was there. i have repeated the PROCESS many of times to no avail. I then started to search for LAN drivers but was unsuccessful.

My question is, where do i find lan drivers for my ABIT ip35 pro motherboard. And just a side note, abit has the worst customer service ever. Waited on the phone 1 hour before i hung up out of fustration so any help, links etc. would do wonders.

I know that DDraw error is in most cases caused by Direct-X failure or missing DRIVERS.

I am trying to RECORD from a cassette player to the computer or to a CD. I have downloaded Audacity and it appears everything is working EXCEPT I do not have an option to record from line-in. I have looked in sound mixer and no line-in option shows as active or disabled.

Can you post the exact model of your computer? What processor do you have? How much RAM?

I see you're running Windows Vista, even though you have an older computer. Do you have a port on back of your computer labeled "line-in"? Are the various sound ports, or jacks, color coded? If so, what color is the one for line-in?I think this is the information you asked for:

Again, I send tons of gratitude!You can use the Mic jack to record into. "Mic" is just a higher amplified "Line-in" You'll have to adjust the volume way down and tinker with it some.

If you double click the speaker in the taskbar you can check if your "Line-in" is muted. If its not there select Options--> Properties.

In the Properties window select Recording and then select the appropriate recording devices you want to be available.

When I install the PRINTER driver for my X73 printer on my new computer with VISTA OS, I am unable to GET anything to print, even tho the driver shows up as installed in list of programs? Could the X73 driver be incompatible with Vista?

hi all, ive researched and researched this but have grown frustrated. I recently purchased a new HP HDX Laptop with Vista Home Premium installed. I havent really used the laptop because I had been waiting for the Vista Ultimate UPGRADE disc to arrive that I ORDERED. Everything went went fine, and I've have been upgraded/updating to the "max", TILL I noticed that it lacked a D: Drive (technically the CD-ROM is D: and the DVD is E:)

I realized that having the D: Drive is important so, I would I get installed onto my new computer?

I'd think CRT monitors or LCD monitors shouldn't matter, as long as it's decent brand. I think that my dad's 9 year old trinitron CRT monitor could probably handle L4D just fine. But let us know what you got first

You are probably running generic Windows in their place and will most likely see a performance gain afterwards.Unless there are complications, for example I had to reinstall my chipset drivers on my GX270 due to some problem with the main drivers, and the chipset drivers had a problem with some of the system files(Later on found out that the HD crashed)

I TRIED updating the driver that I downloaded from ASUS's website but nothing happened. Are there any solutions to get this audio work?

Laptop, or desktop?There were no audio DRIVERS installed when I installed it... and it's desktopI suspect, your audio chip is malfunctioning, and you need to buy some sound card (starting at ~$15)

Whenever I play ITunes or my Windows Media Player my entire computer freezes up and I have to improperly shut it down by holding the power BUTTON in. I have Windows XP on a Dell Inspiron 530. I have noticed this Realtek HD Audio Manager on my computer that I never REMEMBER being there before. Everytime I try to uninstall it (even in safe mode) it reappears on my computer. Could this Realtek Audio be my problem? I tried reinstalling the DRIVERS but that did not work. I'm pissed I can't LISTEN to music without my computer freezing up.

I've got 2 sound DRIVERS installed... I'd like to uninstall one of them but my COMPUTER is rebooting everytime i TRIED to uninstall one of them, one is VIA and the other is REALTEK... could someone tell me how can i remove one of the sound drivers?... pls....
Tried Safe Mode?i have a computer with a sound and that is why i need to download a sound driver to my FLASHDRIVE and download it to my computer and the question is "how will i do this"?

Installed diamond radeon 4650 video card, resolution and display seemed perfect without any driver installed. However, once i installed the driver off of the CD that came with the video card, upon rebooting after installing, the screen goes to complete blank after the WINDOWS loading-splash screen.

Although the screen is blank/idle, I know that the computer's still running because after the screen goes blank I still hear the windows start up sound and I can shut down the computer by alt+f4ing and hitting 'U."

The video card works fine in safe mode, so I know 100% that it's not a matter of settings. It seems to be the driver that's the problem. GIVEN the case, is there anything I can do?

Just a small background info: I tried radeon 4550 2 days ago and it worked perfectly(after installing the driver) and decided to return it and got 4650 since I could get it brand new for cheap. I uninstalled the PREVIOUS driver completely(from control panel add/remove. not 100% sure if this removes it for good) and installed the new one and got the blank screen syndrome.

You could try a different driver - download the latest one and transfer it to that machine when you boot in safe mode (or sue safe mode with networking to get net access).
UNINSTALL the old drivers with add/remove programs, reboot again into safe mode, and install the new ones.

I visited the website and already tried downloading the version 5.1(the latest one on the website for the given product). Uninstalled the version 5.6, installed the 5.1 -- This produced the same problem of booting fine with blank screen -> display working in safe mode(I currently have the version 5.1 and running in safe mode).

Kind of sucks how the display seems to work at great resolutions without any drivers and crash completely after installing supposedly appropriate drivers...Version 5.6/5.1? Where are you getting the drivers from?
Use the ATI site.5.6 is the version shown on the CD on the installation screen

5.1 is the version given on the website which in turn is given by the CD which came with the video card.

I'm looking at the website you've provided me with, and it says it requires windows XP service pack 2 or higher, whereas the box says just XP... could that be the issue? Anyway, I'm trying to d/l and try that out, will report resulttried it out, same issue :/

i had the same problem with my 4650 and it took me ages to sort it out. i had to go to the radeon website and download the latest driver but you will need to upgrade to service pack 2 or better, i installed just the driver and the catalyst control, but i did not include the folding at home pack and this did the trick. hope this helps?

I have a PROBLEM when i boot up. My computer beeps rapidly like a key is stuck. Then I get a MESSAGE that says "Diskette drive 0 seek failure" or something close to that. It ALSO says "keyboard failure" beneath that. After that it boots up normally but the keyboard won't work at all. I've TRIED a few other suggestions online INCLUDING removing something called a "3 pin jumper block" for a second and then putting it back. Nothing has worked can anyone helP?

I have a Windows XP Pavilion 732c and its a couple (5-7 YEARS) old and I've finally realized that I need to replace the hard drive because every diagnostic I've ran finds some "unrecoverable" error and it randomly restarts. (Im confident it's not a virus PROBLEM because I JUST reformatted it a week ago) and i starts making a CLICKING kind of noise whenever it starts loading a program

Can someone walk me through the steps and necessary tools to OPEN my computer taking out the hard drive and replacing it with a new one? I'm absolutely clueless as how to mess with the insides of my computer, so im confident ill screw up some how
