Solve : Device Driver Configuration Help?

Answer»

I have a USB device which SHOWS up under my computer, but does not OPEN. My THOUGHTS on that are that the driver isn't configured properly and whatnot. So, from there I am attempting to do so. I am not extremely familiar with .inf files, but I kind of get the gist of them. The file is m3usb.inf, and I have tried the right click install method but to no avail. I have also placed the driver into the system32/drivers location as it says to within the file( which is surprisingly very helpful). I WOULD greatly appreciate any help that could be given. Please and thank you in advance. What type of device is this ? ?camera/mass storage.... driver is for the m3 chip pre- installed in it.Does it show in Disk Management ? ?
Right clik My Computer...select Manage...then Disk Management.Problem Resolved! For some reason the cable provided would not eer the port on the died ANOTHER camble and vuala! Didn't have to do anything with te INf file or anything. Amazing how simplistic problems can be, especialy when I thought it was something incredibly difficult.

Solve : Input signal out of reach??

Answer»

Ok, today I installed Windows XP to my computer. Before, I had Windows Media Edition XP, something like that. Our computer was giving up problems and someone suggested we just start over and reinstall XP and now we have XP professional. Now, when it LOADED up, the resolution is at 800x600. ORIGINALLY, the computer was at 1280 x 1024 so I know for a fact it's capable of going to that resolution. But when I try to change it, it says "Input status out of reach". I notice, many drivers need to be updated, but I cannot find my particular video DRIVER. It's ATI Radeon, the video card/monitor and I cannot find it... I think this is the PROBLEM. Can somebody help me please?

Also this is my second time installing it today. The first time, I kept trying to change the resolution and the screen just STUCK to the error floating and would shut off the monitor. I tried putting the video cable in and out again but nothing.

Thanks for reading, help appreciated!

Also, this is my computer specs.

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&objectID=c00587142Since the spec only say it's Integrated Graphics, you need to determine what the graphics chip is.
Download and install CPU-Z, http://www.cpuid.com/
The Graphics tab will tell you what you have.

Solve : Nvidea driver is causing XP not to load?

Answer»

All of a sudden my video card took a dive on me.  I haven't been able to test a different card yet, but I figured I would ask to see if anyone else knew what to do. I have a Nvidea 8800 GTS. XP will boot as long as no Nvidea drivers are installed, but when I try to install the Nvidea drivers XP will fail to load and the text is all garbled up during startup.  Anyone know what could be causing this?  memory on the video card went bad?
You say that it started doing this all of a sudden. Does that mean that it was working properly before? What did you do right before this started? Did you download anything or install a new driver? Have you tried doing a system restore?I was actually burning a dvd and I noticed the the desktop picture I had started to show white lines throughout the picture and the start bar in XP. Nero also became unresponsive for a little bit (4 minutes) Then after Nero started responding again the screen flickered and went back to normal.  I restarted the computer after that and the FARTHEST it would get was about 2 seconds of the XP load screen.  Then it would restart and continue this cycle until I choose to boot in safe mode which worked.  I Uninstalled the nvidea driver and thats how I am getting XP to load in normal mode.  I wish I had another video card to test out but I do not.  Before I go out and buy a new one I wanted to rule everything out first.  I tried reinstalling the last Nvidea package from thier site, but I get the same thing after I install it.  XP will not load and continuusly restart.  I did try a system restore with no success.

Attached it a picture of how it looks right now in normal mode (all the dashes )

[Saving space, attachment deleted by admin]You have the wrong drivers installed...newer drivers are not always the correct drivers,
Boot to safemode...uninstall the nVidia drivers and use the drivers from the CD that shipped with the card,
Reboot afterwards...Thats funny...    Anyway, I tried installing the original driver on the CD but it still fails to fix it.  Even my mobos start up screen has the graphics all scrabled up.  Since thats the case it can't be a driver issue right?  The drivers do not load until Xp starts right?  Anyway, I am still stuck.  Thanks for the replys thoughSo your video card works fine as long as the Nvidia drivers are not installed? Even in BIOS? Is that right?
This is very odd.
What about a boot cd? Does the image appear distorted when you boot to another type of media?I am forced to load XP's SLOW generic drivers in order to load XP normally.  If I load any nvidea drivers it will not load XP at all.  No matter which drivers I have loaded the BIOS and dos start up screens are all scrambled up as far as the text.  I try booting the the XP cd and the blue set up screens look just LIKE the picture I posted.  Lines going through it and all screwed up.You need a new video card. Thats what I am starting to thinkMy dad's computer had the same problem. We were installing the correct drivers, but that would cause it to fail on boot. I poped the case, and sure enough the GPU fan was dead and the chip was burning hot. I'm guessing the 3d acceleration on your card is fried, which doesn't come into play until the driver loads. This is why safe mode works. Since he doesn't GAME, I just installed a generic driver that would do a decent rez, and it made a fine workaround. Before you assume it is doomed you should verify a few things:
Quote

poped the case, and sure enough the GPU fan was dead and the chip was burning hot.
I'd check to see if the fan is doing its job as well.

Quote
Even my mobos start up screen has the graphics all scrabled up.
Assuming it is an add-on card it might be worth removing, cleaning dust, visual inspection, then reseating.  Also, check your cable for damage and tightness.

You need a new video card.

Solve : CDROM PnP Driver needed?

Answer»

I have a Windows XP pro HP machine and the DVD is not working.  Have gone through all Windows updates and HP updates.

Device Manager says it is an HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4084N device and the status is "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware.  The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)"

Do not have any other documentation and drive does not have manufacturers label that I can see.

Where can I get plug and play CDROM/DVD drivers??  Thanx...........  phil_vIn Device Manager right clik the drive and select Remove/Uninstall...
Optical drives haven't needed drivers since before WinME.
Windows will automatically re-install it upon re-boot.

You may also want to consider the drive is getting ready to fail if it's 3 + years old.I have tried 'disabling' and I have tried 'uninstalling' and then reenabling and reinstalling.  I got Bupkis....  keep getting the same message in Device Manager.  Does this mean I need to replace the drive???.........  phil_v One of these may help:

1. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060
Restart computer.
or...
2. Download, and run Restore Missing CD Drive patch
Double click on cdgone.zip to unzip it.
Right click on cdgone.reg, click Merge.
Accept registry merge.
Restart computer.
or...
3. Go to Device Manager, click a "+" sign next to IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers.
You'll see two items:
- ATA Channel0 (or Primary Channel)
- ATA Channel1 (or Secondary Channel)
Right click on each of them, and click Uninstall. Confirm.
Restart Windows. They'll be automatically reinstalled.

If none of the above helps, most likely, you need a new drive. If Broni is correct and the M$fix utility doesn't do the trick then you might want to try the suggestion below.  I pulled this together and added it to the solutions database where I work:

Symptoms:
CD or DVD drive will cease to exist on the affected machine.  Errors may or may not exist on the affected machine.

CD or DVD ROMS will not be visible from the device manager or YELLOW exclamation points are SEEN on every CD and DVD-ROM available.

Cause:
Programs, such as decoders and burning software, sometimes register ‘filters’ that load either before or after the CD or DVD ROM subsystem in Windows.

Sometimes when uninstalling software, they will remove the filter that was registered but leave behind the reference to the filter in the registry.

Warnings:
The solution for this problem requires changes to the registry to resolve.  This can be dangerous if mistakes are made.  Please backup your registry before attempting this procedure or have a qualified computer technician work on it.  *Organization where Sn3akyP3t3 works* will not be responsible for damage resulting from actions followed in from the information that is provided in the procedures given for solutions.

Notes:
The solutions have been tested on Windows XP machines by one of *Organization where Sn3akyP3t3 works* IT department student workers and are known to work with that Operating System.  Reports found in many forums indicate that this procedure works for Windows Vista based machines, but Microsoft has not indicated that this procedure works for Vista.

This problem does not fix broken hardware.  If the drive does not function after attempting the procedure then please invoke your computer's warranty or seek qualified hardware repair.

Solution:
The following sites have methods for resolving this problem given in order of preference:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060/
http://www.theeldergeek.com/restore_missing_cd_or_dvd_drive.htm
http://blog.tiensivu.com/aaron/archives/626-Fixing-broken-CD-romDVD-rom-access-drive-functions-in-BIOS-but-not-under-Windows-sometimes-related-to-GearAspiWDM.htmlOK, here's what worked...

Microsoft has a free utility called 'Microsoft Fix it Center'.  It found:

"CLASS filter drivers are corrupt                                  Fixed

One or more class-specific filter drivers are missing/corrupt"

It corrected the problem, now the drive works fine.

This utility will also analyze print, audio, IE freezes, Video freezes, as well as CD/DVD problems.  Pretty COOL..

Now I just have to find out where to buy a new HP 17.2" LCD SCREEN (HP doesn't have them, nor does the hardware vendor they recommend)cause mine is failing.

Thanx for your help, I'll post my LCD problem on the appropriate forum....  phil_v

Solve : Drivers for Nortek webcam not found?

Answer»

Hi ,

I have a Nortek Nx Vega Duo WEB cam , i seek for its drivers even on manufacture's site but there they say SOMETHING that "resources not available for this product" , for me is embarrassing because they still promote this web cam model but support for this model is null.

Please if SOMEONE knows something about those drivers (even another driver which could be compatible with this) give me a hand !

Thanks ! http://www.nortekonline.com/EMEA/EN/webcam-nx-vega-duo-voip-kit.asp

Under downloads tab requests you register your product?

Doesn't that have anything?THANK you very much for your post.

At that location i registered and try to get those drivers but they don't provide them.... even after registration, for other models they do but for this one no.... is really strange why....

They provide this message: "Sorry, there are no available resources for the selected product." for this product instead of support and resources.

Solve : issue #2?

Answer»

i believe i need to update my wireless driver on my labtop but its not allowing me to connect to the internet in order to do so is there any other way for this to happen?
So the first  issue to be able to connect to the Internet.
For the update wireless driver u  can be downloaded it  from anywhere (coffee net)Why do you think it needs a driver update ? ?
What happened before it went out ? ?

More details would be very helpful...Next time please include enough information in your first post.
In the case where someone accidentally deletes some important files and his wireless stops working, he'll use the following methods.
Locate the original driver disk for the laptop and reinstall the wireless drivers.
Or just go buy a new external wireless device. You might be looking  at one even locally for about $10 used, maybe $15 new.im sorry guys okay here is the entire story one weekend i was using the computer(which is a labtop) to do some online payment for my bills and what not and then i left and when i came back that night i clicked on the internet and it says it couldnt display the webpage. and wheni tried to repair the connection it didnt work then i tried restarting or rebooting the computer and still no solution and when i looked at the satus the i wasnt recieveing enough packages i was reciveing (24 packets when i sent out 1000+ out and i know thas not normal ) i tried connecting my labtop to my DSL modem but that was a fail as well it kept saying limited or no connection. sigh somebody please help me this is so frustrating im not really good with computers that why i turned here.....sorry for before with not having enough detailsGood. Not we can get somewhere.
What I say earlier was a wild guess. Skip it.
Now then, Is this your Modem? Does it look like it?
If so, turn it off for half an hour. Let it cool down. PLUG it back in. In about 30 seconds it should be up and have a good DSL connection.

Or, what modem do you have? Who is your provider? Do you have the trouble shooting guide for your modem?

The Motorola2210 and others like it are bottom of the pack economy DSL modems to get customers started at the lower cost entry point. Some models have been revised to eliminate the over heating problem. Check with your provider.

no that isnt my modem i believe mine is by RCA? if thats a company and my service provider is Comcast but this modem does not provide a wireless connection when i connect to the internet on my labtop it is through an unsecured network names WEST4230 and the connection strength is excellent but it doesnt allow me to browse. So you are connecting to someone else's wireless account ? ?

Sorry...i'll pass on this one.no its a public wireless network u *censored* hole Quote from: Trackstar11s on April 25, 2010, 08:09:15 PM

no its a public wireless network u *censored* hole

"No, it's a public network" would have probably been sufficient.

the SSID definitely sounds like it's probably provided by the municipality. It's not the default SSID, anyway.

On the other hand, Not being able to browse would be the case if only certain mac addresses were allowed to do so- for example, coffee shops and so FORTH often have what appears to be an open network connection, but in order to browse the internet you need to pay them, and they will add your MAC address to the allowed list of computers that can browse.

In either case, it's impossible to know wether your inability to browse is local (a problem with your computer) or a problem with the router on the other end and/or it's configuration. Also, since you've been connecting through a unsecured wireless then you haven't been using your own comcast account, but rather the internet of some other entity.

Now, you say you have internet service- do you have a router? are you currently using it for a desktop PC?

Quote
i tried connecting my labtop to my DSL modem but that was a fail as well it kept saying limited or no connection.

this was through an ethernet cord, correct?

If your DSL modem is usually only attached to, say, a desktop, it's possible that your ISP account is "tied" to the MAC address of your desktop- this would be why you get "limited or no connectivity". More satellite details would be helpful;

How many PCs you have, how do you connect to each, etc. From what I can gather, my guess would be that you have a desktop that is wired straight to a DSL modem for it's connection, and a laptop that you use a public, wireless, and unsecured connection that you've  used to manage finances (not recommended). If this is the case, the best solution would be to get a wireless router, so you can use internet connection with your laptop, as well as secure the wireless connection from snooping. This would entail the installation of the router and probably contacting your ISP to change the mac address consigned to your account (the router will not have the same mac address as your PC) then you can connect the PC to the router with a ethernet cord and the laptop wirelessly.

Of course, if this is not the case do explain.

At this point the best advice we can give is to make it clear to your Internet Service Provider that if they do not have a satisfactory solution for you, you will take your business elsewhere.

If the laptop came with the OS cd and drivers and are lost or misplaced could only mean that they are not available online and need to re-ordered or purchased.

Solve : Choppy/laggy when I drag windows on my laptop??

Answer» HI, I just bought a new hard drive for my NEC Lavie LL750/B laptop which I bought in 2002 in japan because my other hard drive died. I installed WinXp onto my new hard drive but I encountered a new problem. The sound is not working and WHENEVER I drag any windows or scroll a website, it gets choppy/laggy. I noticed that in my device manager there's question marks on some devices but I don't think they are related to GPU or soundcard. I don't think the updating works either in device manager because it keeps saying windows can't find the software. How can I fix this problem?

Here's the pics of my device manager: http://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/
You need to DLoad and install your MBoard chipset drivers...
Re-boot afterwards.then install your sound and video drivers.Right. Let's do this all in one post just to consolidate: Download and install ALL drivers for your system (sound, video, nic, etc) starting with the chipset driver. Thanks for the reply guys well my laptop has intel cpu and I went to the japanese NEC website http://121ware but they only had softwares and applications and I tried all their programs on my laptop. I need to use windows because I want windows software on it. The laptop originally came with the xp os and everything was working fine until the hard drive died and I had to replace it. The laptop probably came with a driver cd but I am still looking for it online and in my house. since you cant find the drivers of the manufactures web SITE. download Everest when  done installing it should open up by itself if not go to

start, all programs, Lavalys, the yet another FOLDER the click on the icon with a  green exclamation mark.

once it opens up click on report, next on the pop up,system summary, next and plain txt, save yo file then attach

Solve : AcerAspire 3680-2682 - No operating system, no hard drive found, missing drivers?

Hi, I'm having so many problems w/my laptop. It is an Acer Aspire 3680-2682 w/Windows Vista Basic Home.

When I restarted it the first error msg that appeared said, "Kernel_Data_Inpage_Error -Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed. If this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any Windows updates you MIGHT need."

"If  problem continues disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use Safe Mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, PRESS F8 to select Advanced Startup Options, and then select Safe Mode."

Solve : Trouble Finding Correct Sound Drivers?

Answer»

Hellos

So, my old hdd crashed without warning last week and a few days ago I acquired a new one. Problem is, I have none of the drivers for my board. I was given a link to go DOWNLOAD them many years ago when I first bought my pc, but I've LONG since lost that link. Searching around the web, I discovered my board uses either Realtek AC'97 or SoundMax as embedded audio. I'm not sure which one since my board seems to have two different model numbers on it.

Now, to the most frustrating part of my problem: Neither drivers work. When trying to install the Realtek, I get a error message stating "The Software you are installing for this hardware: Realtek AC'97 audio has not passed Window's Logo testing to VERIFY it's compatibility with Windows XP". I've gotten this message before with my wireless card, but I always tell it to install anyway and all goes well. But with the drivers, it starts to install then my screen goes black and the whole computer restarts itself.

And when I try to install the SoundMax drivers, I get the message "Driver not found! Reboot your system, and run this setup again". When I reboot, windows says it found new hardware and attempts to install the realtek drivers again which just makes it restart.

I read a post somewhere about needing to install INF chipset driver updates first, so I tried that but the results are the same. So...my brain hurts and I'm not sure what else to do

OS: Windows XP home (SP3)
MOTHERBOARD: Intel D865glc  or  D865peso
RAM: 1.5gb
HDD: Seagate 250gb sata
Antiviruses: AVG free, Spybot
Fixed this problem. Someone can close the topic If I may, could you post what your solution was?  Other visitors may find it useful to solve their own problem.I downloaded EVEREST Free: http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System-Info/Everest-Home-Edition.shtml

Very helpful tool, though when I tried to click to download or get my info about the audio adapter, I get "Page Not Found" from Intel's website. Then I googled the complete name of the audio adapter, which I got from Everest, (intel 82801EB ICH5 - AC'97 Audio Controller) and discovered another way to make the drivers install.

Quote

Open the Multimedia Audio Device in Device Manager.
Install Driver.
Install from a specific location, THEN make sure to say to say "Don't search I will choose the driver to install"
Choose Sound Device, then say have disk.
Locate the folder your drivers are in and install the drivers that way.

This method worked with the SoundMax drivers I had downloaded before.

Solve : Crossfire 5870 Eyefinity Poor Performance.?

Hi,

I've got a 5870 Crossfire setup with 3 monitors. However when i try to play dirt 2 at 5760 x 1080, a single 5870 outperforms crossfired 5870s.

I googled it, and found that a 9.12 HOTFIX from AMD helped performance issues with Crossfire and Eyefinity. However, i've currently got the ATI 11.1 drivers installed, and i'm wondering if the 9.12 hotfix (released a long time ago) is included in the current version of drivers i have installed.

Put simply, do i need to install 9.12 hotfix PROVIDED that I already have 11.1 drivers installed?

Thanks in advance.A hotfix or update should ALWAYS be address to your particular problem. Read the hotfix description before PROCEEDING.

Based on the INFO in the manual the chipset features setup shows what is configured and the only thing I find that isn't correct is the line **Fast EDO Lead Off**. This should be **ENABLED** but it is **DISABLED**.

I did some surfing and FOUND that I may need to re-install the chipset drivers for the motherboard. I can't seem to find the drivers anywhere. Anybody have any ideas that can help me fix this?

Thanksyou cannot have Fast EDO lead enabled if your memory doesn't support it- that's probably why it's set to disabled. It was enable before I tried to change the card the monitor cord is attached to. Does this mean I cannot install the drivers I need to correct the PCI issue I am having?Fast EDO is a memory setting. it has nothing to do with either PCI or video cards. It APPEARS that I cannot enable/disable it like other settings in BIOS. How can I correct this, or can I? Quote from: 69Z28 on April 18, 2010, 10:59:34 PM

Either way I still need to find the drivers for 82430TX PCIset P55-BT ISA PCI MainBoard and find out how to install them. Any help there? Is this your motherboard?

Yes it is. I thought I found what I needed to correct the issue but it didn't work. Found the issue and it wasn't the motherboard chipset. The PCI device was the modem card that I needed to load the drivers for.

Lesson LEARNED. Quote from: 69Z28 on April 20, 2010, 01:26:23 PM

[recovering disk SPACE - old attachment deleted by ADMIN]Do you know what graphic card you have from nVidia?

Go to: www.nvidia.com
under Download DRIVERS > Download Drivers Dropdown > Manually find drivers for my NVIDIA products.

Select your correct product TYPE and series, OS and you need to know if it's either 32 or 64bit.
Search and download the latest drivers. It's quite a large filesize ~100MB.

For example:
Quote

Version: 197.45 WHQL
Release Date: 2010.04.13
Operating System: Windows Vista 64-bit, Windows 7 64-bit
Language: English (U.S.)
File Size: 117 MB

Once downloaded try run that to install, any luck? i do  it is the correct driver but i fixed that problem though i have a new one
the driver gives me this

[recovering disk space - old attachment deleted by admin]You will need administrator right is run and UPDATE the drivers. Run with admin rights?i am the administrator and uac is offDo you have any security software like Kasperkey which allows/disallows/controls applications behaviour?

If Microsoft "registry security permission" is holding you back:
Go into Regedit and set the permissions on the Nvidia Folder to "Full Control" for both your username and the system!

To do this:
Start > Run > Regedit
Find registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation

Right-click 'NVIDIA Corporation' and select 'Permissions'

Now look for the name of your User Account listed.
If it's there, click on it and then make sure "Full Control" is checked in the "Allow" column down below. Click [OK]. Re-install the original Vid Card drivers and re-boot...
New drivers are rarely better drivers.

Solve : Can't disable tap to click on mouse?? Please help!?

Answer»

I just had to reload Windows after a crash, and now I can't get the "tapping" option disabled for the mouse. I tried reinstalling the driver, and I tried installing the driver on the Synaptics website (useless...). I used to have options to do with mouse orientation and the scrolling on the side of the pad, and an option to turn off clicking but I can't remember how I got them there!!

I am running Windows XP on an HP Pavilion 2840 laptop. I ALREADY have all the drivers provided from HP's website...After installing the OS you need to first install the chipset driver, then all other drivers. Did you do that?lol i have no idea ?? what's a chipset?

ok so say i didn't do that, how do i fix that now?If you don't have the driver disc that came with your system, download all of the correct drivers for your laptop from the HP website and install them.I have ... I've installed all of them though not necessarily in any order (SATA drive first obviously though)
and the driver from Synaptics doesn't have an option to turn off tapping.http://www.winbookcorp.com/_technote/WBTA00000847.htmwow, where'd you find that? OK I'm going to try downloading that driver for the third time, but when I open the advanced settings I don't get anything but a help file  lol not sure why i bothered, or who made up those instructions. there's no section for tapping. just really obvious intructions. You are going to CONTROL PANEL - MOUSE, correct (as opposed to a different driver APP that may have installed with the driver)? Clearly that option to disable "tapping" should be there.hey thanks but i'm not retarded. it's not there.the synaptics driver is not installed.

My laptop has a "Synaptics" tab on the mouse control panel. within that tab I need to select the touchpad in a listbox and select settings, which brings up another window full of touchpad specific options, including tap-to-click.omg read the original thread... I've already tried installing it! Quote from: Sophie.annelies on April 07, 2010, 01:57:24 AM

omg read the original thread...

Any other threads I should read?

If the option isn't there, the driver isn't installed. It's that simple. Either that, or you installed the wrong ONE. Quote from: Sophie.annelies on April 07, 2010, 01:57:24 AM
omg read the original thread... I've already tried installing it!
Lose the attitude. We're trying to help. If you don't like the help you are getting here....

And clearly BC is correct - the Synaptics driver has not been properly installed or you don't see the options that are there. Those are the two choices. Not sure how else to install it, I've also tried a random driver from the HP website .. just turned out to be Synaptics again lol. Maybe I'll just contact them? :S

Solve : toshiba?

Answer»

i  have a Toshiba laptop that i need the drivers for i have been searching like a med for days the only working driver found was for the sound the REST don't work, can anybody help me with the drivers
the laptop is Toshiba Satellite a100I FEEL your pain!  I too have an A100 series Toshiblah monstrosity.  Drivers are a bit difficult to track down for Toshiblah, but not IMPOSSIBLE.  I don't have this laptop nearby, but I know one of the more difficult parts was matching the model information from the laptop to the model information on the Toshiblah support site.  They don't USE the same numbering.

If I remember right I used the serial number and model part number to arrive at the correct "Toshiblah" support site model number on the warranty lookup page:
http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/globalEntitlement.jsp
Then I navigated over to the driver page with my info.
Toshiba drivers can be found from here:
http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/home.jsp?nav=Download

Either that or use your recovery CD to pull drivers from.

Solve : My computer won't let me safely remove my USB Keys?

Answer»

this is completely bizarre. i have my USB keys plugged into my computer, and when i try to DISCONNECT them it wont let me because "another program is using it" this is not TRUE however, no programs are using it. can someone tell me why this is happening?

computer details:
Windows XP
Version 2002
Service PACK 3
Intel
3.19GHz
1.98 GB RAMMaybe some malware in disguised trying to access your USB keys or vice versa. Does it happen all the time now? Could Windows be indexing the drive?
Are you sure no programs are using it??

For instance, if you are saving, lets say, a excel doc and you save it to the USB STICK. When you go to 'Safely Remove' it will still be in use. You have to close the excel doc before removing.

Solve : External Blue Tooth problem?

Answer»

I have a Lap top Toshiba Satellite U505-S2925BN with VISTA installed on it, no built in Blue tooth, I have connected an external one which has no name on it, and no driver.
Any time I connect the DEVICE I get, WINDOWS need to install driver software for your bluetooth with 3 options 1-Locate and install 2-Ask me next time 3- Don't show this message
clicking option (1), shows installing device driver software with  an other 2 options
a- insert the disc, or b- I don't have the disc
I clicked in option (b)
I got finally windows was unable to install your Blue tooth device
Any help will be appreciated
If there is any of Vi$TA's main OS functions that shine its the Device Manager!  I think you probably should post back with information on the Bluetooth device you are trying to use.  Post the make, MODEL, and version information.  I'm sure the company site can be found and drivers downloaded using that info.

Solve : Looking for free scan, driver updates?

Answer»

Do anyone of you know of a website that is 100% free in regards to a system scan &/or driver updates?  Most of the ONES I come across are not freebies, they are trials.  Device Doctor is totally free;however, I am having problems with the download.  RadarSync is also free;however, after the scan they don't help with fixing the errors.  ThanksDrivers should only be updated if there is a specific need to do so. NEVER allow a site or utility to update your drivers.I need to update the audio drivers.  My computer is four years old and I never have set up the audio.  There aren't any drivers installed.  That is why  I am looking for this. How about a site that only gives a report?

No. Because those reports indubitably say that everything is out of date. the Fact is, there is ABSOLUTELY no such thing as a reliable driver version scanner. I mean, seriously- how does it know when a driver is "out of date"? how does it know the exact analog of a newer released version? If you have a system that requires a tweaked version of what is otherwise a standard manufacturers driver (such as with laptops) do they know this? No, they don't. they say to upgrade to the latest version and give a link to the driver page for the "normal" driver which not surprisingly causes problems.

Secondly: There is absolutely no reason to go looking for components to update. if your network card is having problems, by all means, try a driver update. But if it's working fine you shouldn't update just for the *censored* of it.

How many Nvidia users were recently burned because they had to have the latest version installed? "oh woops, sorry we fried all your cards, our bad" And the Nvidia "incident" is by no means isolated. stuff of a lesser degree happens all the time. new network drivers can sometimes drop packets or cause other problems, sound card drivers can cause stutter or crackle because the developers spent 80% of their time designing the fancy graphical knob widgets for the control panel.

I downloaded a couple of games like wedding and diner dash.. but I can't seem to play it. An error prompted like "Failed to Initialize Window. change screen resolution and color depth. if failed, your video card does not support this game." Same problem OCCURED to all games I installed.

Looks as if you have onboard graphics...you may need an addon card to run those games.Yes, that does look like an onboard graphics card.... and hate to say, the whole system is pretty dated.

I notice it says you are on service pack 2. download service pack 3 from microsoft; its free.... but it won't fix your issue... just a good idea in the first place....

that said, go to intel's site, and download the latest drivers for your video card. It should run, even if it does lag a bit.

Your Direct X looks current, but I have seen cases where the 3d acceleration was somehow disabled.
do a start > run > "dxdiag"

You can re-enable it in there if for some reason it was turned off.... but get the drivers firstHow much cabbage are you gonna throw at this system? ?
You may want to save up to build a NEW system which we can help with........and how do I know the specific DRIVER for my video card? how will I know that it's compatible with my card? would that somehow help me run those gameS? Quote

Extreme graphics 2 is the 865 chipset says wikipedia :
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_chipsets

So, the driver you need is here :
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=9498&lang=eng

The driver will enable 3d acceleration. Depending on the game it may lag. This is your best bet though.

Solve : Linksys wireless?

Answer»

Hi I am trying to set up a linksys wireless router model wrt54gs v7 that I bought from a guy on craigslist.I am tring to connect main computer with qwest wireless modem to another comp in bedroom do I need the  original cd that CAME with the router? The guy did not have it. I have found a driver on the linksys site for it but I dont WANT to download the wrong one please help THANK YOU.You don't need drives or software to use a router.

There should be a reset button on the back that you have to stick a pin in. Hold down the rest for line 10 secs..... and wait LIKE 2 mins for it to reset its self.

When it comes back on, and your PLUGGED into it, go start > run > cmd > ipconfig
This will give several pieces of info including a default gateway. Whatever the ip address is for the default gateway, open up a browser window and type it in there. It should pull up a configuration screen for the router.

If you can not CABLE to it, you should be able to see it on the wireless. Default SSID is linksys

Solve : Gateway P-7805u FX laptop keyboard driver issue?

Answer»

Hello all from a new member!

I have an issue with my Gateway FX series laptop.  I recently did a clean install of Windows 7 (x64), primarily to deal with a LOT of Vista problems.  The Vista problems seem to be gone, HOWEVER using my keyboard CAUSES the cursor to jump around and occasionally delete entire sentences.  This sounds like a familiar keyboard driver problem to me and the device manager shows a ps/2 keyboard driver.  However, Windows REFUSES to update the driver, insisting that it is the most current/best driver.  (I even deleted it and Windows reinstalled it) And the Gateway driver website has nothing for my machine.  In fact, the only keyboard drivers they have listed are for desktops or really ancient systems. I've spent the last two days trying to find ANY driver that would work and have turned up nothing.  I even repaired/re-installed Win7 in hopes that something would change.  But no.  Having dealt with Gateway's customer dis-service in the past, I loathe the notion of having to purchase a driver disk from them, which may or may not have what I need anyway.

Please help, I need my gaming fix...  After installing the OS did you install the chipset driver? Look in device manager - any errors?I did find (after much research) the chipset drivers for my machine, downloaded and installed from Intel's site.  I am still experiencing  the keyboard malfunction.

I should note that thus far, it is the only problem I've had with the new install.Any laptop out there should only use drivers from the manuf. site...
The fact that your running a 64bit OS leads me to believe this is a driver issue...
Travel to the laptop manuf. site and make sure you have the proper driver installed.Alas, the Gateway driver download site has nothing for my notebook's keyboard (see above).  My luck, fix one thing, break another...Ah, now this is embarassing.  Turns out it wasn't the keyboard drivers, or the chipset.

It was the touchpad.

After updating the touchpad drivers (and turning it off, I hate the touchpad) keyboard functions returned!

Thank you all for the ADVICE!Good news...
Thanx for stopping back to let us know !

Solve : Free Disc Space?

Answer»

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help me. On my C drive I have 53.68Gb of music in i-tunes, and no other large files. However, my computer is telling me that I have only 4.46Gb of space free out of 137Gb. I have run all the usual disc clean-ups, defrags and spybot searches, but nothing seems to make any difference.
Is there a way that I can find out where the disc space is being used?
I have a feeling that my music library must be duplicated somewhere in my hard drive, as there is no other explanation as to where all the memory has gone.
Any help would be gratefully received.

It WORKED before but what happened now??? The laptop I am using is Window Vista... Please Help!!!  Try deleting the upper and lower filters. Don't WORRY that the page says XP: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/982116I followed the procedures but when step 5:In the right pane, click UpperFilters. comes I can't find the UpperFilters or the Lowerfilters in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}. What am I suppose to do now???If the entry isn't there don't worry about it.
What is new or different since the last time everything worked PROPERLY (IE, new hw, new sw, virus, error, etc)?I haven't noticed something new or different since the last time except that the window media player say to connect a burner and restart the player. But I did try to download games yesterday. No virus I checked... Oh I just went through the report in Microsoft Fix it and the things that failed  to correct is the it wasn't detected....Can you open the drive manually (by pushing the open/close button)? If so, insert a BOOTABLE disk. Then make sure the drive is the first item in the bios boot order. Reboot and see if the system sees the bootable disk at boot. That's the problem... It can open manually and it's not detected on the computer...

I'm convinced Apple does this bunk on purpose...

There was a point in time where Apple Software probably caused more than half of the BSOD errors on windows machines... and in an interesting twist the fact that Windows machines present blue screen errors in the event of a failure was essentially mocked within Apple advertisements. Coincidence? Either way, We all KNOW that a beachball sitting on the screen is far more USEFUL for diagnostic purposes, or even better, the older MAC OS's where it just showed a dialog with a bomb and an error , not what actually caused the error (which even DOS was doing back then) so you have to wonder who is handling errors properly here. I thought Mac's didn't get any errors ? ?    Quote from: patio on March 23, 2010, 07:06:20 AM

Solve : Graphic Driver Help!?

Answer»

Hi, im currently using nvidia Geforce 105M on a HP notebook. Before the problem, when i right click on the desktop screen,it shows me the graphic CARD im using. After i updated my pc(*not my graphic card) my graphic card was not there.(as in i cant find it.).so i looked it up,i went to devices and printers, clicked on my system, checked on my nivdia geforce 105M and it said:

This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (CODE 31)

so i troubleshoot,to fix that issue.after all that,it says its fixed.but when i right clicked on my desktop again,it does not show up.it showed:intel graphic accelerator or something like that.(instead of my nvidia)

so i rebooted my com, went to devices and printers, and AGAIN it said:

This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)
i did this a few times.

Sooo can anyone out there help me please? What do you mean you "updated your PC"?by updated i mean.....ok, theres a program called HP support assistant.it updates the programs that are 'outdated' so to speak.it updated my nvidia geforce 105m.halfway through updating, my screen went blank and when i reboot, the problem arose. You should not have rebooted manually while the screen was blank - AND NEVER USE A THIRD PARTY PROGRAM TO UPDATE DRIVERS. In fact, never update a DRIVER unless you absolutely need to.

Go to the website of your video card manufacturer, download the latest driver, and install it. Post back and let us know what happens after you do that.I already tried that mate .after i did that,it said could not locate drivers compatible with ur hardware.when i bought my pc,it is already bundled up with the graphic driver so how can it say uncompatiblei tried troubleshooting again, when it installed the driver, the screen went black.so i restarted and it says the device is working properly.but when i trned off and on again, same thing happenedHave you tried rolling back the driver in device manager? And have you tried system restore (to a point before the problem arose)?the roll back option is grayed.i tried system rstore...but it said turn off antivirus.i turned it off, restored again, and it still said turn off antivirus.in using norton btw.i dont think i turned it off though...i disabled it.do you know how to turn it off?You should be able to just right-click on the icon in the system tray and choose "exit".Have tried drivers from HP exactly fór your notebook? That USUALLY helps. You know I'm sorry - I just realized it's a notebook. The above post is absolutely correct - you must get the driver specific to your system from HP's website.its an entertainment notebook.the graphics card is in built.Anyway,i resolved my problem!! thanks for your time and help guys!Delighted to hear. What did you end up doing?i uninstalled anti virus, did a system restore, and poof!all is well.hahhahaha thanks againGood for you. Glad it's all sorted out. Now for the future PLEASE do yourself a favor and start using disc imaging software on a REGULAR basis.

Solve : sounds is ok but music not?

Answer»

hi esteemed forum members

i am having some PROBLEMS with sound/music/speakers

i have a philips 5.1 surround sound system

Music only comes out of the front right speaker
but strangely when i test the speakers - right click the volume ICON bottom right, click on playback devices and test my CMI8738/C3DX PCI audio device all my speakers are fine - each one in turn tests ok for the test sound.

i am running windows Vista

My sound card is a sweex 5.1 PCI sound card

I have disabled High definition sound in the bios

What can i try next? any ADVICE greatly appreciatedDid it ever work?yes at my previous address my pet rats had gradually attacked the wires of my 5.1 system so in turn i removed the speakers and generaly considered myself lucky to get any sound at all. towards the end it sounded really bad but the spagetti junction of wires in poor to reach places stopped me from attempting a total overhall.
just moved to a new address and have mended all speaker wires - everything is neatly connected behind protective boards - the base will sit on the floor and the others will sit out of reach.
i'm thinking its a settings issue.Go to device manager by typing devmgmt.msc in run menu. Then see WHETHER all your drivers are working properly. Try to reinstall all your drivers properly.hi thanks for advice so far. I delayed working on my problem till i bought new speakers...

Got the new speakers today but still same problem.

So i thought it was a prob with the sound card so i removed it and am now using the onboard sound instead.

but still sound only coming from the right.

Eh??? It used to work now it doesn't how come?

i do appreciate this is not a driver issue but can anyone either help or point me in the right direction?

okay just spent last hour vacuuming out graphics card in preparation for adding jumpers to motherboard which i have duly done as recommended in motherboard book and here... http://forums.beyondunreal.com/archive/index.php/t-109274.html

only to discover it was a winamp problem ha ha ha ha ha ha Quote from: Firesparks on March 17, 2010, 04:26:12 AM

Solve : Webcams?

Answer»

Hello there...

I am not altogether sure that this is the right forum for this question.

My computer is running on Windows XP SP3. I have tried to connect  three different USB web cams. Two of them are not recognised by windows, whilst my recent ADDITION is recognised but still I can't GET any video from it. The LEDs work, and other USB devices work without a glitch, so the USB connection seems to be OK. I have installed the driver, using the CD that cam with my webcam. Nothing seems to work. My webcams seem to have been voodoo-ed. Any suggestions please? Thanks!
Are you using the same usb port every time? What BRAND and model web cams are you using?  Have you tried both front and back USB ports?

I play the Sims 3 and after awhile DECIDED to upload some of the added features(hair, clothes) from the sims website. Right after doing that when I attempted to play, it would FREEZE, and instead of my normal screen ( http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v418/jen_62387/normal.jpg ) my computer would go blank for a few minutes then would come back looking like this ( http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v418/jen_62387/display.jpg ) I have tried REMOVING the game and reuploading it, RUNNING it without the extra content, I deleted the content. Nothing works. It won't let me play. My computer works fine otherwise, it only malfunctions when I play Sims 3.

Basic information about my comp

Intel Pentium® D CPU 2.80GHz
I run windows XP

Keep in mind that I am only semi computer literate. lol. I can track down any other information you need as well. update the driver and see if that helpsUmmm. yea. How do I go about doing that? I wasn't even aware computers had drivers...

Solve : Is this a Sign of a dying Graphics Card??

Answer» I have W7 64bit & NVIDIA 8800GTS and this entire problem gradually got worse in order:
1. I always had this problem; I had a black screen for short period of time when the windows got to the desktop after a boot up.
2. After 10 minutes of playing wc3 the balloon on the taskbar would popup saying “display driver has stopped responding and has successfully recovered” and another popup which I can't remember every word but said “windows kernal 185.5 driver problem”.
3. After 10 minutes of using the computer "display driver has stopped responding and could not recover" in BSOD.
4. When I boot up windows it says in BSOD "Attempt to RESET the display driver and recover from timeout failed”
5. The POST has white lines across the screen.
6. Can only fresh install windows XP 32bit but without any display drivers installed. As soon as I install the driver that came with the CD or Online the screen turns into reddish paintball effect and keeps on restarting and coming back to the reddish desktop again.

Things I have tried:
1. Fresh install of windows 7. It works half-way but When the PC requires a restart to go to the desktop the first time it displays a BSOD.
2. Installed the latest driver from NVIDIA website for my 8800GTS Windows 7 64bit in Safe Mode.
3. Installed the display driver from the original CD in windows XP 32bit but that lead to BSOD .
4. Cleaned the dust in my PC.
5. Checked the fan of the Video card, and took out the video card and stuck it back in.
6. Uninstalled the NVIDIA display adapter driver in Device manager but when windows detect it and reinstalled the driver the BSOD appeared.
7. Rubbed the gold plate on the Graphics Card

Things I am going to try:

1. Replace my Graphics Card with my brothers to see if my Graphic Card is faulty or not(need to find out if they are compatible)

what is says on BSOD:
A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
If this is the first time you’ve seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check to be sure you have adequate disk space. If a driver is identified in the stop message, disable the driver or check with the manufacturer for driver updates. Try changing video adapters.
Check with your hardware vendor any BIOS updates. Disable BIOS memory options such as CACHING or shadowing. If you need to use Safe Mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced Startup options, and then select Safe Mode.

You can see the picture of BSOD, lines across my screen and paintball effect here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/

Solve : Video/Audio Stuttering?

Answer»

After my last hard drive decided to quit on me I switched to a 1TB Western Digital and started to rebuild everything I'd lost. After a few long days I got everything back to normal except one thing: Any video/audio/flash I seem to play kind of "stutters" every once in a while. I haven't timed the exact intervals (because I figure that doesn't matter much when finding a solution) but it's something like once every 30 seconds. Upon paying closer attention to the stutters, I'm thinking that it's not ONLY when I'm playing/streaming media, that's just when it's most noticeable.

Also, I recall having the same problem before when I switched to this Netgear wireless receiver. Problem is, I don't remember how I fixed it.

Anyway, I figure this has something to do with my drivers, but I don't even know where to begin. I ran Sherlock 2.0 to see if it was an issue with some codecs, and while it found some problems, removing them did not fix the problem.

I'm familiar with my PC, however the majority of Google searches for my problem led to forums where I couldn't understand what was being said enough to try any of the proposed solutions.

I'm happy to PROVIDE any information, you just might have to step me through the process of finding that information =)

Thanks!

EDIT: Last time I had this problem it was only when I'm connected via wifi. I'll see what happens when I'm not connected. Also, I notice the video/audio stuttering when playing video games too. Most common problem is with drivers.
Next come programs that wanna be. You know, they wanna be your favorite media player, toolbar, sidekick,  POP up blocker etc. etc.

You should re-install all and any:

  • Motherboard chip set drivers.
  • Video graphics drivers.
  • Sound system drivers.
The order can be important. you MANY need to remove the VGA driver before you START the  drivers again. Some Video drivers interfere with almost everything.

This is done through Device Manager, correct?Yes, you remove the drivers or disable them in Device Manager.
Also, you can try to update the drivers via Microsoft Update service. This way you avoid driver that are not certified by Microsoft.
Otherwise, use the newer drivers recommended by the original manufacture from their website. Of course, you internet has to be working. So get the new drivers before you remove the chip set drivers.
The video card will work OK in VGA MODE. Just poor performance till you update it.

Quote
you can try to update the drivers via Microsoft Update service.
Never update any non-Microsoft drivers through Windows updates. There is a long history of MS being wrong.
You download new drivers either from your computer manufacturer site and particular device maker web site.Thank you Broni.
I was not aware of that problem.
Do what Broni says. Quote from: ChainOfOblivion on March 17, 2010, 06:55:40 PM

EDIT: Last time I had this problem it was only when I'm connected via wifi. I'll see what happens when I'm not connected. Also, I notice the video/audio stuttering when playing video games too.
Uninstall every board drivers properly. Then reinstall it again. After use new software to play your File. I recommend to use Mpc star or VLC.

Solve : updating driver's advice?

Answer»

Hello guys

I still carn't get the hang of this "update drivers" thing.
People say update your driver's or check for driver updates

Last week.
I was following a brief guide on how to do this for my printer as there was a driver update for this, so i downloaded it and found out that i could not use the printer, i think it was saying something like shortcuts missing and it needed the INF file.

So i gave up and tryed to reinstall the printer, with no luck the same thing was happening, the only thing i could do was a SYSTEM restore, which i did set a restore point before i downloaded the drivers and that got me back to normal..

Was this because i had two lots of drivers on the COMPUTER in different places, i did not even know where these drivers where installed to.
I just thought it would update the old driver's to the new one's

these driver's where for a lexmark printer X1270 on a computer running XP.
I should not have botherd really because the printer works fine with the old driver's, but it would be nice to know what i was doing wrong in the FIRST place..

I should have followed the old saying " if it aint broke don't fix it "... Hi Carl. Bottom line, you should only update a driver if there is a specific need or REASON to do so. Newer does not necessarily mean better. And yeah, if it ain't broke..... Quote from: Allan on March 12, 2010, 05:45:23 AM

Solve : Need help with BIOS ducumentation please?

Answer»

*censored* everyone

I have been using an aspire e380 for a couple of years now, since then I have upgraded the RAM and GPU. I have decided I would like to upgrade the CPU, Currently athlon 64 X2 4200+. My motherboard is an AM2 soccket and I have been assured that I can run an AM2+ CPU on the AM2 mobo. The only problem im facing now is related to BIOS.

The sales people at the store I intend to buy from have told me that I will have to install the latest BIOS for my mobo. They said i should check the release notes that come with the BIOS to see what CPUs are supported before making a purchase.

I have been along to the Acer support site and downloaded the BIOS package from here      http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/downloads_gd.html

The problem is there are no release notes to be found in the package, and I have searched endlessly on the net and found nothing.

If any of you are FAMILIAR with these bios or has the missing documentation I would be very gratefull if you could share.

I have attached my SYSTEM profile as produced by everest software just in case I missed something.

Thanks in advance

Peter

They are absolutely correct.  If you can't find it, it doesn't exist and I would recommend doing nothing, since the chances of it working are slim.  Branded computers are modified by the mobo manufacturer to the company's (Acer) specs.  In many cases, the only difference is the BIOS.Hi CC

Thanks for your reply

I will have to go for a new Mobo and Cpu then. I will keep the system I have now and just put the Mobo and Cpu Phenom II X2 550 BLACK Edition + AM3 mobo.
