Solve : can't use BBC4 website?

Answer»

Hi everyone,

I used to listen a lot to BBC4 radio, my favoutite talk radio, and now after a couple of months I want to to do this again but it appears that I can't:

First, it takes ages to access the website via IE7 (too old?) or Mozarella firfox 3.1
Second, the BBC player doesn't work when i click on "Listen Live"- or again it takes ages to download.

It seemed to work at my office computer this morning. But not on my home computer, yesterday nor now. MECK

Also, i don't have any trouble with any other website.

So what could be the problem ?

Sounds like a slow connection...

My connection seems fine, 8,000 KBIT per sec.I must go now, I'll be BACK tonight. Thank you.
If nothing comes off it here, I'm going to call the BBC tomorrow.

The "BBC player" is just Adobe Flash Player. Right? Do you have the latest version of Flash Player installed, version 10,0,32,18?

BTW, I'm listening to BBC radio right now. My Internet connection is about 1,500 kbit per sec. Quote from: soybean on December 03, 2009, 08:15:45 AM

BBC radio is great, innit ? I've also bookmarked an Irish talk radio station, http://www.newstalk.ie/, quite good, but not the same, they probably don't have the same amount of resources, I guess.

No I don't have Flash Player, I have Quick Time which i've never used..

I don't know what BBC i-player means , i'd say it stands for internal player or something...

Visit http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ If you don't have Flash Player installed, that page will confirm this. And if so, then go to http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ and download and install it. To verify your installation succeeded, visit http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ again. You may need to close and restart your browser for the installation to take effect.okeedokee

"you have version 10,0,22,87 installed"

Why is it not listed among my programmes?

It does not appear on your Programs menu because it's not a program you run separately from your web browser; it's a browser "plug-in" or "add-on", not a "program". In other words, it only comes into play when using a web browser to view web pages containing Flash content.

However, if you open Programs and Features, from your Control Panel, you will see it listed there and it can be uninstalled.

I see you don't have the latest version of Flash. I'd go ahead an update it, although I can't say for sure this will SOLVE your problem. Quote from: sandra on December 03, 2009, 01:06:56 PM

It's a radio and TV on-demand service.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BBC_iPlayer

It is only available in its full form with TV to user with IP addresses within Great Britain, but the radio programmes (UK spelling) should be available world wide.
So, it's somewhat working now but it still takes a bit longer for the site to be accessed (via IE7)...

A colleague told me to empty the cash which i had done but only from within IE.

She SAID do it from the start menu...

THis probably did the trick, who knows?the CACHE (spelling)

Solve : DVD+RW or CD-R?

Answer» I'm not sure where to post this question,so I came here.I have googled and read so many things, but STILL can't figure out what is what.
I tried doing a system backup on a CD-R and found out that it wouldn't work.So I bought the one it recommended, which is DVD+RW and if I done it right,it took 2 of those to do a backup.
But can you play music or download music on a DVD+RW and play them in a CD player? Or do the DVD+RW's strictly USED for backing up your computer stuff? I mean...for music and documents I have been useing CD-R's and haven't had a problem at all....but what else can these DVD+RW's be used for?It says you can rewrite over them....so I get that. But are they only for backing up or movie recording or....??
Just basically wondering what is the difference?
Thanks ahead of time.
ps--please move this post if I am in the wrong place.Thanx.
Aside from the obvious fact that one is a CD and the other a DVD, many CD & DVD players will not play R/W discs. DVD-R or DVD+R is very low COST when bought in packs of 25 or more. They can hold enough data to backup most of the essential things on your computer.
Use of RW CD or DVD is not a good idea. Except when you have a compelling reason for it. Such as a project where you only want to keep date for a short time and then destroy it.

I think you're missing a point here. Even though a former member who started a thread is no longer a member, the discussion may still have value to FORUM visitors searching for discussions on a particular topic. Just because the person is no longer a member does not necessarily reduce or negate the value of the content in the discussion. As long as his original post and replies to it are in the forum, the discussion may still have value.

Hold on.. I mean delete the posts that no one has POSTED on. however, "Allan" My friend (MUCH =/) Keep's notifying me and saying "This post has ended" So i am missing now point?I NEVER say that a "post has ended" - I don't even know what that means. Just take the advice and stop giving out. You'll do a lot better here if you follow that advice.yeah you'd think the red text saying "this thread has not been posted in for 30 days"... would maybe be the first clue that it's a dead thread.

So, again, do we post to existing threads which are arbitrarily deemed too "old" or do we create new threads and topics at will, for which OTHERS have come under criticism?Quote from: Aegis on February 09, 2010, 10:06:24 AM
So, again, do we post to existing threads which are arbitrarily deemed too "old" or do we create new threads and topics at will, for which others have come under criticism?

A poster with a similar problem is a different story.

First: they are probably aware that the thread is old; they simply feel that it's CLOSE enough to theirs to ADD context to their issue.

What is being discussed is a PROSPECTIVE "helper" having issues navigating the forum properly, and ignoring the aforementioned red warning and the fact that the OP they are trying to help has not been a member for years. Of course because are having issues the entire forum needs to be cleansed of these old posts. The proposal is to, from what I understand, delete all the very old posts that have no reply. This would make sense, except that the only way you could see such old threads is to purposely navigate to old pages of threads. Additionally calling it a "Waste of time" is kind of silly; the threads are obviously old and additionally OPs with no account will not appear hyperlinked in the forum pages anyway.Nicely stated.Quote from: Aegis on February 09, 2010, 10:17:29 AM

Solve : Use more than 4GB of RAM on 32-bit system - is it possible??

What do you think?

http://www.smartestcomputing.us.com/index.php?showtopic=38374&st=0&gopid=142461&#entry142461Thanks Broni. Didn't know that.
One could only guess that MS was going to user that for themselves.
Most of the Intel CPU's made in the last few years have this feature available. But it is usually IMPLEMENTED only con commercial motherboards used in servers, not desktops.
Here is a recent addition to the KB.

Enabling Memory Support for Over 4 GB of Physical Memory

Actually, your still right; obviously there would be no gain to explain to most users that they could hack the kernel to enabled support of 4GB+ of RAM.

I've actually been reading some of his articles. He basically documents inconsistencies on Function documentation. Of course, the fact that the FUNCTIONS he says "they did exist before Version X, but were undocumented" and seems to find that simply unacceptable are almost ALL simple little string utility functions. THere are a few pretty interesting functions in there, with curious names.

I've actually wondered about that whole "32-bit operating systems cannot address more then 4GB of RAM" argument, for the same reasons Geoff stated.

The only thing I can see as an issue here is that 32-bit windows will still use only 32-bit handles; but after some consideration, this might not actually be a problem either, only way to exhaust all possible 32-bit handles would be to have- well, all 32-bit handles. there are 2^32 possible handles, but the data they point to surely consumes more then a single byte of RAM. chances are in the case of 32-bit systems that are using huge amounts of RAM using this hack that it's possible (under undue stress to the system's memory) that the system will actually run out of handles to address the RAM with; and yet still have excess RAM to use.

some might introduce the pagefile into this, but really there is no need. regardless of the actual memory capabilities of the system, on a 32-bit architecture, the memory used by a process is divided into user and system sections; per process data for the system in the upper 32-bits (probably things like window classes and window structures that are accessed via the API and the proper handles with those APIs) and process data in the lower 2GB (the actual data stored by the application). this is unmoving; regardless of the memory or configuration of a 32-bit system no process can allocate more then the available space (normally, the 2GB, but this can be changed with boot switches as well as Linker flags on the executable). So really, Virtual Memory is only used to swap this data into and out of RAM, and really is not addressed directly by the process (it can be, but that's a different story ALTOGETHER).

Personally, while I find it a tad strange that they would leave this type of thing undocumented, it can easily be gleaned. First off, Windows SERVER 2003 Enterprise Edition 32-bit can address 32GB of RAM. that should kind of act as a clue that it's probably possible on a 32-bit system; the same licensing applies with processors; the number of usable processors can be found in the registry, too. Even though XP home is only supposed to support 1 processor, that value can be changed.

However- we need to define "support" here; "support" and "can use" are not necessarily symptoms, and I doubt phoning MS with an issue or to report a bug in one of their software programs would really be accepted if you used one of these hacked systems; I think the "supported" maximums simply means that is the maximum they will support; they evidently leave out the whole licensing thing, which isn't surprising. If people knew how to easily, for example, make home edition use more RAM and processors, would they buy the professional edition where that was supported? probably not.

You can actually see that kind of warning in Geoff's article. We still don't know, if it really would happen.
A question still remains: what's M$ point here in keeping it that way? Some of this is old news.
The news is that you have ground it in VISTA.
Windows 200 server used up to 16GB of memory, but only 2 GB could be visible to any one instance of an one application. B OT.INI would have the PAE switch.
Quote
Windows 2000 Usage Considerations
Before you configure Windows 2000 for AWE memory, consider the following:
* To enable Windows 2000 Advanced Server or Windows 2000 Datacenter Server to support more than 4 GB of physical memory, you must add the /pae parameter to the boot.ini file.
* To enable Windows 2000 Advanced Server and Windows 2000 Datacenter Server to support a 3-GB virtual address space, you must add the /3gb parameter to the boot.ini file. This allows user applications to address 3 GB of virtual memory and reserves 1 GB of virtual memory for the operating system.
However, if there is more than 16 GB of physical memory available on a computer, Windows 2000 needs 2 GB of virtual memory address space for system purposes and therefore can support only a 2-GB virtual address space.
The latest edition of the 2008 server documentation is available on the Microsoft web site. Rather large document.
Just Google: SQL Server 2008 Books Online.Im running an HP laptop with 32bit vista. I have 4G of ram but im only getting about 3.5 out of it. Its maxed out.
I do have a 2G pagefile.sys Just in Case tho...

Solve : I'm planning to pay only 30% of my Comcast bill, from now on....?

Answer»

Probably, I can't do this, by I feel like ranting...

I'm sure, some of you are aware of *censored* Comcast throttling policy.
I guess, it applies to some other ISPs, as well, but since Comcast is my ISP, I feel like giving them some...
Since January (I believe), Comcast does it officially.
It's two-way tier:

If you, or your neighbourhood exceed 70% of bandwidth limit for more than 15 minutes, they'll throttle your connection until bandwidth usage drops to below 50% for another 15 minutes.

It's pretty easy to see, if you visit http://www.speedtest.net/ at different times of the day.
My advertised speed is 15Mbps, but, if I test my speed, roughly between 5PM-10PM, I'm not getting more than 3-4Mbps.
When I test my speed after 10PM, it flies...often even over 15Mbps

...which pisses me off to the extreme...

Dear Comcast
I hope, you'll end up in *censored*!!
If those Idiots we send to Washington had any guts at all this would be illegal...as well it should be.I understand the reason you're upset about this. But, from a practical standpoint, does it really impact you? My DSL service is 1.5Mbps. For the life of me, I can't imagine why anyone needs 15Mbps unless they're just constantly downloading very large files, and I can't imagine why you'd need to be doing that.

BTW, how much does your Comcast service cost?Quote from: soybean on December 13, 2009, 09:08:30 AM

I agree, Broni, you are seriously freaking out over not getting 15+MBs? I've never gotten better than 415KBs. If I got 5MBs, I would thank my lucky stars. no he's "freaking out" because comcast promises one thing and DELIVERS another.Quote from: BC_Programmer on December 13, 2009, 09:53:59 AM
no he's "freaking out" because comcast promises one thing and delivers another.

Excellent Point !I think I can draw an analogy of sorts with a Pizza place.

Some such locations have a promise of delivery within a certain period of time; say, 30 minutes or it's free. a Promise of sorts- a verbal contract even. advertisements, etc display this new feature.

So, business picks up, because of this new promise. But guess what? because they were unprepared and are not beating the time limit often enough, they simply shrug it off; they'll tell customers "oh, it's just so busy" and so forth.

Well, the only REASON your so busy is you promised something that you apparently cannot deliver because you were unprepared for the load on your business to meat that demand.

This is probably a similar scenario to Comcast; people obviously choose their service based on a number of factors... one of these is the advertised speed. In this case- 15mbps. But because there are too many subscribers, or more precisely, because they are unwilling to devote more resources to improving their core architecture, they cannot ALWAYS deliver this to all customers, and invoke esoteric rules that define that the service will be throttled back over 70%... in this case, that reduces the effective download speed from 15mbps (1.875 megabytes/s) to 30% of that, which is a mere 562Kilobytes/sec.

The fact is, all else being equal, the advertised speed should be the speed that it normally goes. If using this "advertised" speed for a certain unadvertised period of time suddenly reduces your speed to the same speed that can be had with far cheaper deals from comcasts competitors, exactly what do you GAIN?

basically, what you are signing up for is not 15mbps service, but rather 4496 kbps service that happens to go faster for the first 15 minutes.

As a comparison- I tested my connection right now:

the most interesting thing is, even with that speed, if I am downloading- say, a Linux ISO or some other very large file, then my transfer rate boosts to nearly 60mbps at intervals for a few seconds. This is ALL advertised by my provider and is EXACTLY what I signed up for, it should NOT be a COINCIDENCE that what I signed up for and pay for happens to be what I get. In Broni's case, what he is getting is FAR less then what he is paying for.Quote
If those Idiots we send to Washington had any guts at all this would be illegal...as well it should be.
Quote

I can't say it better.

It doesn't matter how much I pay, it matters what I pay for.
I pay for a web page to open in 1/8 of a second, not 1/2 of a second....just to be sarcastic, but seriously, it's a matter of a principal.
I remember, Comcast started this whole crap with targeting just one application, BitTorrent and somehow, "those idiots in Washington" considered it illegal, so I believe, FCC stopped it.
Well, Comcast found a better solution, throttling a whole piece.

Another funny thing is this...
Initially, I had 6Mbps connection. Then, Comcast with a big bang, announced a big, free speed "IMPROVEMENT", bumped the speed to 15Mbps. That's when the throttling started.Quote
It doesn't matter how much I pay, it matters what I pay for.
I hear you and acknowledge your point. I'd say Comcast and other cable providers need to be more honest in explaining to customers that Internet access speed via cable can vary. While cable generally offers higher maximum speeds, it tends not to be as consistent in speed as DSL. I believe numerous references can be found to support this statement. For example, http://compnetworking.about.com/od/dslvscablemodem/a/speedcompare.htm says:
In practice, cable's speed advantage over DSL is much less than the theoretical numbers suggest. Why?

* Cable modem services can slow down significantly if many people in your neighborhood access the Internet simultaenously.

This does seem like a very crappy policy. Why not allow bandwidth usage to reach 100%? Are they afraid the cable might explode? And, then throttling down to 50% for 15 minutes. That sucks.
Quote

Agreed, but not from 15 to 3 Mbps!
I know and you know, it's about throttling, not number of people using Internet.

Solve : resetting locad admin pw (normal mode)?

Answer»

Hello All

I need your help with the following problem but however I do not know how this topic will be RECEIVED. Please also be keep in mind that I do not wish to get anyone upset, mad or make you feel uneasy. Also this topic may have come in the pass and that I maybe bringing up a touchy subject.

My problem is that I need some help in resetting the local administrator password. I am able to boot into safe mode and login as the administrator with the default password that came with the laptop.

Here is the scenario, I allowed my nephew to play some games and go on the internet (parental controls were in place) and one of the sites he decided to go to had INSTALLED a virus that norton did not pick up in which I was totally surprised. The virus had apparently silently disabled norton, the disk defragmenter, I believe check disk (the only reason why I say this is that it would work the one TIME then worked the next), and apparently had disabled one user and changed the password and changed the p/w on another in other words the administrator account. (if that is possible) never the LESS, it has caused quite of bit of chaos for me to try to fix.

As mentioned above I was able to boot into safe mode and login as the administrator and reset the user passwords because I was unable to login into the administrator account in normal mode.

First, my OS is windows xp home sp2

I have tried to RESEARCH this topic by googling but all the suggestions that I have found doesn't seem to have an affect.

I have tried:

1) Downloaded and installed a add-on for the local account manager to reset the admin p/w. results say it was completed but still can't login
2) tried the "control passwords2" command. again indications of using this command says the change worked but no luck
3)tried looking at the registry that was listed on the microsoft website, but the entries seem to match.
4)even bought a new hd for my laptop, reinstalled the system from the recovery CD that was provided but for some reason I cannot login into the administrator. (to me this doesn't sound right)

After trying to reset the admin p/w and then trying to login I received the following error message at the login screen "Unable to Log you on because of an account restriction"

I am now at a loss of what to do. I was thinking since the recovery CD that came with the laptop with everything working, that installing it on a brand spanking new hd would solve the problem. I don't care in reinstalling software and I always do my backups.

Can anyone help me on this matter.

I tried to be as clear as possible and have not confused anyone.

Any and all questions/comments are welcomed and appreciated

Regards

Kevin

Since you're able to get into safe mode have you tried creating a new account with administrator rights in Safe Mode and then log into that account in Normal mode. If that works you could then adjust the other account settings through users in control panel.

Yes, RoboForm is a really neat utility. You can use a MASTER password (if you share your computer) or not (if you have no one to worry about).Try Opera. It's my favorite web browser. It has the magic wand that will automatically sign you in, just by CLICKING it.

Windows XP and 2000 should have been paired as they are very similar.
And 98 and NT would have also been a better match.
What about ME? More people use that than 95.
DOS / 95 should not have even been a option.
Way more people use Mac or LINUX then Windows 95 or DOS.
And other should have been all of the aboveJust noticed this: what's DOS(qb)?Windows XP PROFESSIONAL SP3.

Solve : What should I back up?

Answer»

What types of data would I include in a simple sytem backup of a typical home and business computer system.Often with most users they simply NEED to backup the files in the "My Documents" folder, this often will contain your document files, music files, video files, and other personal data. Try the below Mozy program, it'll actually select the common things you need to backup and BACK them up to their server so it's securely OFFSITE and it's a free 2GB.

http://mozy.com/home/freeThanks!!!In addition - it is my considered opinion that EVERYONE should use disk imaging software on a regular BASIS. If you create an image of your drive (or at least your system partition) you will be able to recover from almost any computer crisis with little or no pain & suffering. The image(s) can be saved to off-disk media or a second hard drive (the latter being the easiest and most convenient). I create 2 or 3 IMAGES a week, keeping the two most recent. In addition to the best of breed Acronis True Image, which is not free, there are a number of excellent free Disk Imaging Software options. In my opinion there is no reason or excuse for everyone not to use one.

Solve : WinPatrol Plus for.99 Cents. 1 day only.?

Answer»

Quote

Bill Pytlovany the developer of the highly regarded WinPatrol HIPS will be offering the $29.95 PLUS version of WinPatrol on Friday 29 January, 2010. It's part of an experiment in pricing that Bill is trialling. Here is the full announcement from Bill:
from Gizmo...

Bill's quote follows:
Quote
"Have you noticed that most of the software you’re buying these days is only 99 cents?

The traditional software industry, like many, has been hit hard by slumping economic times. At least that’s what appears to be happening. I can’t help but notice traditional software distribution is in a state of flux not unlike the media and publishing industries.

The music industry which dealt with the downloading of free music has created a successful 99 cent per song model. Using mobile devices we’re now downloading decent software for as low as 99 cents. Who can’t afford an impulse purchase of $0.99. The Apple App Store made many new millionaires almost overnight at 99 cents a pop.

What about the rest of us who have spent years developing fully featured software on the Mac or Windows platform. Are customers going to revolt against prices which range from $30 like my own WinPatrol PLUS to programs like Photoshop which retails for $700?

I’m curious and thinking a crazy single day experiment could be FUN and may be worth the risk. So what the *censored*. If you want to upgrade to WinPatrol PLUS on January 29th, I’ll GIVE you a lifetime WinPatrol membership for less than a dollar. Instead of the regular price of $29.95 I’ll provide a coupon on WinPatrol.com that brings the price down to $0.99 USD. That comes out to approx. .70 € to our international friends

This will be a one-day only “experiment” starting at midnight EST on Jan 29th and will last 24 hours. Will over 30 times the normal NUMBER customers upgrade to WinPatrol PLUS? If so, will other software developers notice?

Like our current $30 plan, the 99¢ license will be good for life. Like sales in the App Store or Droid Market however, this license is only valid for a single computer. Coupons are also limited to one per customer. Sound fair enough? If you’ve been someday planning on upgrading to WinPatrol PLUS, January 29th is the day to remember. Just go to http://www.WinPatrol.com this Friday and you may be a part of history".

This is a fine app that's been around for years...i've used it since the ME/98 days...
If more people used it they would know anytime something trys to change what runs in the background...highly recommended...very light on resources.i found this INFO by coincidence few hours ago, so i got it for $0.99

Solve : difference between .mpg and .mpeg ??

Answer»

Hi,

what's the difference between these two ?

Videos I make with my WEBCAM have .mpg file extension. Formats accepted by YouTube are mpeg2 and mpeg4, but not .mpg...
So there MUST be a difference in kind?no difference.

The only reason a file is ever given the "mpg" extension is because older file systems and operating systems are restricted to 8.3 filenames- that is, 8 letters, a period, and a three letter extension... in this case, MPG.

MPEG itself is really just an encoding standard; for example, an AVI file could use MPEG encoding.

if you need to, you should be able to simply rename the file in question to have an mpeg extension.yes, I may be confusing file- formats and codecs .

My cam makes videos that are stored as .mpg-files on my HARD disc.

When I want to put this on YouTube I have to put a codec on it, so to speak?

MPEG stands for moving picture expert group. It was a group of people from many companies to standardize the way video was handled for cable, satellite and computers.

The first VERSION was MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 are updates on how the encoding and compression is handled. Basically version numbers.sandra,

Back on topic........ You should be able to upload the videos directly to YouTube.

I haven't tried yet to directly upload.

What I did try though:

Make a test video with my webcam, saved it on my rig and then imported it to W Movie Maker ( despite it being the Vista version that is supposed to not accept web cam stuff).

I then published this video in another folder (as .wmv i think) and then uploaded it to YT.

It appeared to work
No crunchy sound, no additional minutes added.

However, I've deleted VirtualDub that I had downloaded. I'm far to dumb for that for now.

Solve : MSCE, MCSA Certification (How to obtain)?

Answer»

OK, so I have been doing this stuff for awhile and now to go ahead and get my certifications. Unfortunately the networks are easier to figure out to work than trying to figure out how to get the cert. So I was wondering if anyone would be willing to tell me how; step by step and point by point. Also an estimated cost breakdown would be nice to.

Thanks in advance!
ChrisWell I currently have my MCP certification (70-270, the XP test, usually the first you take for the MCSE/MCSA 2000/2003 line of TESTS, of which there is seven). They restructured everything for the 2008 tests (Vista and Windows Server 2008) so I couldn't help you much out there. However the way I did it was to buy an exam prep book, you can find them at any Borders or other bookstore, can also buy them online if you choose to.The other thing to look for...this is after you have read the book cover to cover and are just fine tuning your knowledge...is to do a search for "actualtests" or "testking" + test # + torrent in google. It is possible to pass the tests by just memorizing these but you won't really learn anything. The microsoft tests are pretty tricky in their questions. You usually have to read through a paragraph or two before you get to the actual question their asking. The testkings/actualtests will show you exactly what the test will be like, sometimes they are exactly like the test. Hope this helps a bit, feel free to ask any more questions. http://www.microsoft.com/learning/mcp/mcse/windows2003/default.mspxQuote from: DarkMSTie on June 16, 2008, 12:52:20 PM

From this point where would you take the test at?For microsoft tests you need to go to prometric.com , put in your location, type of test etc, and it will give you a list of testing centers. Usually they are at colleges, or sometimes exam prep "boot camps", things like that. I believe each microsoft test is around $125, Microsoft.com had an offer that I believe just ended, but you could double check. It was called "Second Shot", if you didn't pass the test on the first TRY they'd let you retake it for free. (There's also another testing center called Pearsonvue.com this place is good if you wanna take maybe your A+, CCNA, etc, also prometric has these as well) Thanks all of you very much. I am now on my way.I linked the wrong page earlier. http://www.microsoft.com/learning/mcp/default.mspx
This page (and links on page) will tell you everything you need to know about msca/msceQuote
Thanks all of you very much. I am now on my way.

Bring plenty of money.Just be careful when relying on testkings, I heard that Microsoft was suing Testking because they were never allowed to give out the actual exam. So the test you take might be different.

Good luck, I'm right there with you.
Brainbench is one of the better ones.Microsoft hates the testkings/actualtests/braindumps etc, but I can tell you from experience, at least for the one test that I have taken, that they are word-for-word. But if you just attempt to memorize all the answers you immediately fail because those dumps are upwards of 200 questions, and with microsoft where you have to read through about two paragraphs before you get to a question, it'd be like reading War and Peace, so learn the material and only use them as a guide. hi people... can any one help from where do i get the latest dumps for mcsa and
i have ALREADY finished my 270 paper and 290... i heard we get a certificate from Microsoft.. i tried lots for shipping option but cant find...
i need someone to help me regarding the latest dumps and
how do i get the shipping option ... i want the certificate to be delivered by post.. cant find the option...not to mention the questionable ethics of using a braindump on an exam.

In the late 90s/early 00s, braindump + MCSE = ticket to instant $60,000+/year salary in some places. However, after about a week or so, many of these people didn't know what they were doing on the job and got canned.

Doing that so much devalued the MCSE certification in today's market. The MCSE has become more of a risk when hiring new employees than a symbol of expertise. To some degree, that punishes legitimate MCSEs who actually know what the heck they're doing.

One of the reasons the NT6.x certifications have been restructured so much was because of the decreased value in the MCSE name. There is no "MCSE" certification for Server 2008 or Server 2008 R2. The MCITP is the closest equivalent. However, the "MCITP" name is not nearly as well-known, and HR departments are more likely to ask "What's that?" than anything...

Overall, the problem is the inherent flaws in the testing system, and changing the acronyms is not the solution. There are only 200-300 questions in the test pool for most exams, and they tend to get leaked to braindump sites. Microsoft doesn't want to spend the additional resources updating the test questions once a month, so anyone with a photographic memory can become a "Systems Engineer" or "Systems Administrator."

I heard that Cisco does a much better job updating their pool of test questions...

Solve : Serious YouTube problem...?

Answer»

This has been occurring for the past few months...
During a video UPLOAD, the progress bar would either quickly fill or stop in the middle and freeze for a BIT and eventually I get the "upload failed" error. But when I look at "My Videos," it says "video processing, please wait;" either that, or "upload failed (aborted)" or something like that. Luckily, some videos successfully upload (despite the upload bar error messages), but most of them don't. Here is a weird case of a "failed" upload, which is still "processing"

I really want to know what the heck is going on... is this only happening to me, or has anyone else encountered this? I don't want to have to make another account because of this...What browser are you using?

I have not had any issues uploading video to youtube and yes, I have uploaded a lot of video

This is what I am doing to upload videos to youtube.

Quote

1. I am always using internet explorer to do the uploading (regardless of what other browser I may be using for regular use).

2. I am always using the Bulk Upload Plugin that youtube provides on their site to do the uploading. (If you've never used it before, it's just another way that youtube lets you upload to their website)

3. On rare occasion for me, youtube has taken more than 24 hours to PROCESS a video. But it is very rare for me.

Also, the videos I upload are in either AVI or MP4 format, I don't know if youtube handles those formats better than WMV but you could give it a shot.

Try it out, if still having problems, then we'll GO from there on...

Bump.
Good point. I use Google Chrome. Maybe IE will solve my problems. I'll try tomorrow.
But I haven't used the Bulk Upload plugin to upload anything YET.
All my videos are in AVI format, as well. Not too many MP4s.

Thanks for the tips!Hope it works for you, I have done it the same way like I told you yesterday, and have uploaded couple more videos without any issue.

I also see that on the main youtube page, you can try to also upload straight from the main upload page without the progress bar. Awesome, thanks again

Solve : pdf password cracking?

hello,
wanted to ask for an opinion, ive god a pdf file with a password im trying to crack, ive been trying to use Advanced PDF Password Recovery but it could TAKE years,
however i do know the password is of 7 characters, FIRST one is an uppercase char, REST are LOWERCASE (="Xxxxxxx").
i couldnt limit the software search with the info above (which will make 26^7(=total up./low.case english chars^password's length), it can only make it a mix of chars (which is 52(=total up. and low. chars)^7), which will take about 2 years with my cpu (should take about 5 days with the search limit).
is there a way to limit the search ?
is there any other way you would recommend for me to crack the file?

Solve : Taxact.com?

I just recently got married but I have to file single this year, I just need to file the EZ single Federal tax form.... can anyone tell me a site that is honest and or trust worthy to file from? Is Taxact, com trustworthy?http://www.irs.gov/efile/index.htmlThanks again Allen......Your AWSOME!Yes. Yes I am Taxact.com is just as trustworthy as turbotax.com and the IRS site. I've USED it the past 3 YEARS and have had no problems. Of coarse it's very misleading, because they advertise as the Federal PART being free, but then they ask if you would like to do your state too, and they wait till the very end to tell you it costs $14.95 for state. They also charge you another $14 or $15 to have the refund DIRECT deposited into your account. (That is unless you're paying in.) So after going from "free", to $30, it's still a good way to file online.

Probably not, since it won't POST. It would have to BOOT a floppy disk or CD. Did your friend trash the BIOS during a flash? He tried to get help before coming to me, maybe one of those helpers tried a flash. Does this mean his only HOPE is a new Board and CPU?Quote from: sunnet on February 02, 2010, 02:40:47 PM

I assume it's a desktop and not a laptop? CPU is still good, flash CHIPS can be replaced if not soldered to the motherboard. Might be easier to replace the motherboard, if you can find one compatible with the CPU & RAM.You can also try unplugging the machine and removing the CMOS battery for 10 minutes...
This won't fix a bad flash but perhaps the BIOS defaults are still there.

Solve : Looking for information.?

Answer»

Hello, I'm in the process of researching and hopefully joining a college to study Game software development.
I can't say I know very much about it as of yet but I know it's something I'd be very interested in learning and making a career of.

I spent 2 years in college back in 2001 to 2003 for network engineering but it didn't go very well, due to real life issues I was forced out of the program early and wasn't able to return. I'm 25 now and really wanting to get back in to school.

I was wondering if anyone could share so websites or any type of information that I could study up on, to start things off. I'm a very self driven person and would like to learn as much as I can on my own while I find a way to get myself back into classes.

Any information is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.Hello,
please allow me to offer you some personal advice based on the comments you have provided. I like to be open and honest with all people, if I can. You have a very ambitious project. That is a good quality. And you are strongly motivated. At the age of 25, you have many options available to you. One of the things you need to do is to have some way of SUPPORTING yourself without spending too much time at work. So you need a job that will not take more than 40 hours a week and provide enough to meet your basic needs. Of course, I'm sure you're it had that in mind.
At your local college in your community there should be some free career counseling available to you. They can provide you with some general statistics on job opportunities, training, and REQUIREMENTS.
Before setting a target on a very specific software development, you may consider some broader areas of your field of interest. For example, many years ago I wanted to switch my field from general electronics to computer programming. So one of the things I did was to forget about my radio license and I got a certificate in as electronic technician. I used to work in broadcasting, but I could see that was too hard to advance with my talents. Meaning that my talents weren't that good but this boy was a great technician. So I got myself certified as a technician held a job for a while fixing television sets. Meanwhile, I did personal study on the new wave of personal computing. I trained myself in assembly language after I had built one of the early personal computers. Then we took off with a little trailer and went off to Silicon Valley and we camped in a state park all I would tramping around Silicon Valley looking for a job. I got into a place because I was a qualified technician, although I really wanted to do programming. So I started out as a senior technician and kept working my way around until they let me do some programming. So eventually I was working as a junior programmer, but my job title was still senior technician. My early attempts at trying to do college-level work just didn't seem to work for me. It was just too slow. And I needed to have money to pay for my expenses and help support my wife.
So, what I'm trying to say to you, is the flexible and make good use of what skills you are ready have. It may be hard to break into the field you want as it will take some file to get into it. By the way, I am bilingual and that MADE it easier for me in the workplace to communicate with people that had the language difficulties. I work for the fella that spoke Vietnamese, French and English. But his English was not very good. I didn't know any Vietnamese. And I didn't know enough French to to ood that I could sometimes convey ideas to him by using what skills I had. Anyhow, made a pretty good team. I would help him on technical things with a testing new machines we had and he would help me with drawing up patterns for new boards I would work on. The skills I had learned by learning another language were helpful in knowing how to communicate with him in a simple way.
So, what would that possibly have to do with computer game programming? A whole lot! If you have taken the trouble to learn another language and work with the people that speak another language you have overcome a very IMPORTANT barrier in getting into the computer game industry. The ability to work in another language and to deal with complicated documentation and take exact instructions from other people when it's hard to understand is a very important virtue in the computer game industry. The computer game industry right now requires people to be fluent in English, Japanese and French. Yes, in South East Asia French is a common language for many the people there. The big company is Nintendo. And they will expect you to be bilingual.
So, I hope that this gives you some food for thought. Find out what you're best at and use that to support yourself right now. And then figure some way which you can target your goal of computer game programming, if that's what she really wanted to.
As for networking, there are many jobs in the networking and IT industry. Just go take a look on the craigslist or on almost any IT job list and you will find there are many, many jobs in the network area. The jobs for computer game programming required very specific and very narrow of abilities in programming. But, have much broader requirements in social and communication skills, such as being bilingual and the ability to work with people from different backgrounds.
By the way, this is being done with speech recognition software. I am disabled for now, and am not able to hold down a full-time job in the IT industry. My ability to read and WRITE and spend long hours at typing code has now gone past.

so if you find my grammar kind of funny, I really don't talk that way. It's just a computer doesn't always understand. I really do speak fluent English.

My uncle told me that the PS3 can be modified to work with windows. Can anybody verify that?you can run Linux on the PS3, and EMULATE Windows from there, but I doubt you could install it natively.I'd have asked the Uncle....
Should be an interesting response. My question is why would you want to? I've got to think that the PS3 GAMES are designed to run BETTER on the PS3 than Windows games would.Quote from: rthompson80819 on December 16, 2009, 06:19:15 PM

Okay cool. Thanks for that guys. Im gonna take your advice and go for a SEAGATE or WD.
Just out of intrest, which out of them two would you guys go for?!
I was looking at an Iomega, but the one that was in my price range, and had the space is a NAS sorta principle. There is no option to connect it to my laptop via USB, which at the moment, is a problem as I dont have a router at Uni. Next YEAR when were in the HOUSE I shall, but for now it's a USB job
Thanks
Chris
xxDepending on the model not all WD drives carry a 5 year warranty...
Seagate does.I think I know what Chris's concerns were. I've never heard any hard numbers, but when the first 1TB drives first came out there were rumors of higher than normal failure rates. It probably had more to do with being the first generation of pushing the limits of technology than the size of the drive. As far as I know all those initial problems are solved.

I would imagine the same thing happened when ever a larger HD was introduced.Quote from: Geek-9pm on January 20, 2010, 06:28:44 PM

no. Nintendo games are generally created in assembly, although I imagine the actual language used, especially with more recent consoles, is likely something like C, or perhaps even a certain C compiler built for the console.thanksi gotta make dsi software for nds so you can edit photo's to

Solve : Max Download Speeds?

Answer»

eeexcellent...

[Saving space, attachment deleted by admin]just got, 70 KB/s = 71,680 bytes/s = 573,440 bite/s = 573.4 kbps

downloading a different version of VLC ( i got it right this time BC, so be nice )

edit: 573,440 bite/s 573,440 bits/s dude... For some reason I'm getting seriously fast downloads..

My latest donwload was:

290 KB/s So stated, Firefox

2375.68 kbps

That's like the maximum my DSL SPEED my ISP advertises.. 600 kb/sec is the highest speed i SAW on the download bar in idm (internet download manager)Quote from: EEVIAC on JANUARY 29, 2010, 05:55:57 AM

Carbon has to be getting 191 kbps, there's no way he could be getting 152,880 kbps (see my post above).. Assuming that you are stating an accurate speed approximation which I doubt, that would mean your download speed averages x10 faster than Carbon's..

Your stated speed: 2mb/s = 2,000,000 bits/s = 2000 kbps

Carbons likely speed: 19,110,000 bits/s = 191 kbps

You must be going off of what your router or ISP is telling you... Try downloading some files and NOTE the rate...
ahh...
I think I may reach my max download speed at 400kbps

Solve : Hello, I am newbie here?

Answer» HELLO, I am newbie here

can you TELL me how could i get the trust of the forum?

Can i add some links in the post?

could i add a link to the signature?

what need i do, the forum will not ban me?

......As stated in your other post, you can add links, as long as they are related to the topic at hand. Meaning, don't just jump into a random THREAD about video card issues, and post a link to your favorite online casino website.

You can have links in your sig as well. Just nothing inappropriate.

You gain the trust of the forum by simply following the rules, being polite, and helping OTHERS when they need help. I've already seen (and corrected) one of your "HELPFUL" posts. I'd suggest that if you want to "gain confidence" on a support forum that you first make sure the information you provide is correct.and you do not double post the same topic within days or ever as you did hereTry Reading The Forum Rules -

Solve : CD-R Issue?

Answer»

I am wondering why I cannot view files on a cd-r that I was able to view 20 minutes prior. I am able to tell that the files (photos) are still there via Isobuster DOWNLOAD but am unable to see the files WITHOUT purchasing more downloads from them. Because the CD is not finalised....
This is one of the great features of ISOBuster.

Until you finalise the compilation the CD will appear blank no matter what machine you use it on.Thanks for the response but I can see one photo? I have been viewing the photos on this cd-r for almost 2 years. Is the CD listed as blank, or what do you exactly mean by you can't see pictures?
Did you try the CD on another computer?I'm wondering, if the CD-R is dirty or SOMETHING.

Once, I was attempting installing a PROGRAM off a CD that I had bought few months back, and though FILE was in CD, the computer couldn't read it. Apparently, there was a smudge on the reading surface of the CD.

Don't know if this is your case, but ....

Solve : VHS to computer to DVD?

Answer»

I have none COPY write VHS tapes I want to burn to DVD. Is it possible to connect a VHS recorder to a computer? or can anyone point me in the direction of someone who knows?

ThanksTypically, no, although there are a very few few video cards that have RCA input jacks.

The attached link is a RCA to USB converter that will work.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815306015&cm_re=vhs_to_dvd-_-15-306-015-_-Product

There are also some stand alone combo VHS/DVD units that are made for just what you are wanting to do that are in the $100+ range. If you have a LOT of tapes to transfer that will be the easiest way. Plus, after transferring the tapes you will have a DVD player. In REFERENCE to stand alone combo VHS/DVD units,

here's a llink on some of those. Hopefully they're helpful.

I'm assuming when you said VHS recorder, you mean VCR. Thanks for the info. Been trying to figure out how to do this.

Yes a VCR/VHS tapes.Maybe try a capture card... Those allow you to connect VCR to the computer, so you can capture VHS stuff to your hard drive, which then you can go burn it to DVD or whatever. (More links follow)

I'm assuming when you said VHS recorder, you mean VCR.

Actually, the term VCR refers to several TYPES of video cassette recorders.

Once upon a time there was Beta, which died a SLOW death.

3/4" VCR's have been around for a long time, first as analog then most were converted to digital.

Plus, there are several subcategories like mini, etc.Quote from: rthompson80819 on December 18, 2009, 04:54:00 PM

VCR (Video Cassette Recorder) is just a generic term that covers several types of video recorders.

VHS is by far the most common type of VCR and most people refer to them as just VCR's even though technically they are VHS VCR'sQuote from: rthompson80819 on December 18, 2009, 05:27:05 PM

just read the following in the book, "The Old New Thing" I imagine that Mr. Chen has a blog entry about it as well.

Anyway, often you'll hear, "I really with MS had put on the install disc" this is probably why they don't

Quote

Why isn't TWEAK UI included on the Windows CD?

WE TRIED THAT. It was a disaster.
In the original version of Windows 98, a copy of Tweak UI was placed in an Extras folder on the CD. And it didn't take long for us to realize that this was a bad idea.

Because there was no explicit download step, where you could see the Web page and read all the warnings, people just ran the program and started fiddling with their settings. Some time later, their computer would start acting strange, and they would call the product-support lines to get help. The product-support folks would spend hours trying to figure out what happened, only to discover that the users had actually done it to themselves. For example, they would go into Tweak UI's Control Panel page and hide some Control Panel icons. A few weeks later, they would get an error message that SAID something like, "Cannot connect to your printer. Please go to the Wireless Link Control Panel and check your settings." But when they went to the Control Panel, there was no Wireless Link icon.

The product-support people are smart, but they aren't psychic. There are hundreds of reasons why the Wireless Link icon might be missing from the Control Panel. It could be a corrupted file. It might be that the infrared port is not being detected by PLUG and Play. Maybe the user has the wrong infrared driver. Or the infrared port is incompatible. The printer might be positioned at the wrong angle, or the air might be too dusty to establish a good infrared connection.

Tweak UI hides the Wireless Link icon by using Group Policy, which is a technique that is used by corporations to apply settings to all computers in their organization. But if a home user calls the product-support line, the product-support people won't even bother looking into Group Policy settings because home users don't use Group Policy. Group Policy is for corporations.

Only after exhausting the most likely reasons will the product-support TECH- nician be likely to say,"Hmm, I know this is a home computer and Group Policy shouldn't be set, but let's go check it anyway." Then they'll find that the policy has been set to hide the Wireless Link icon. "Oh, yeah, a few months ago, I used that Tweak UI program to hide some icons I wasn't using. Was that wrong?" The product-support person politely walks the user through reenabling the Wireless Link icon via Group Policy and concludes the service call. Based on feedback from the product-support team, the Windows team realized that putting Tweak UI on the CD was a horrible mistake; and when Windows 98 was updated as Windows 98 SE, one of the files missing from the CD was Tweak UI.
