Solve : More People On The Forum?? |
Answer» I see. I SUSPECT that most of those with multiple aliases are compensating for undersized genitalia. Really? I sometimes use an alias with no mod privileges. That way I can see if the methods we use to only allow Mods to do certain things work with my own eyes. It's paranoia, but it's not hurting anything. so its got nothing to do with the genitilia situation huh? Right. Quote Really? I sometimes use an aliasThe prosecution rests. How did I know that was coming? EDIT: Oops, my alias was on Zylstra's site. I used "Ghost of Dilbert" to check things out as a non-Mod. Hmm. I wonder...?TA-DAA! Hmm. My ghost says that the first thread in the Other section appears to be a sticky. It's as if the Bar and Grill made a hole in the forum for non-mods and the latest thread fills it. Welcome Aboard Ghost of Dilbert ! ! Nice avatar.... Quote TA-DAA!Oh no, its back again Having more than one username if you are an administrator, web developer, or a moderator, can be a good thing just so you can see the forum as it is to a regular user. For example, on my website which seems to be 50/50 abandoned, I have more than one username so I can test FEATURES as a regular user, since I have had problems with the way its displayed before.... (rambling)Yes, it is. |

Solve : Copyrights? |
Answer» I own a website, manage another website, (and another website after that), and CREATE various programs in my spare TIME. Most of these things, I mark with (C) 2007 (and then the media name) Questions about this: 1) Does this OFFICIALLY declare me (or the company) owning the media since it has this copyright? 2) What would happen if someone were to take this information? Would legal actions force them to retract any violations they make? 3) What good does registering a copyright do? (Not a patent)Zylstra555...... Do a bit of reading...... it's all spelled out here. Note , this applies to the USA . http://www.copyright.gov/help/faq/ dl65 Thank you for the link, dl65. PROBLEM solved Answer: The minute its created, its copyrighted to you.Yes, but apparently you have to register to have the copyright COUNT as evidence. Quote Yes, but apparently you have to register to have the copyright count as evidence.Ah, dont need no stinkin' evidence But then again, one of those websites is a buisness website, so I should probably look into that |

Solve : RAM and internet surfing speed? |
Answer» That tweaktest is a good one, I agree. Not really, unless you have a really fast connection and very little RAM, or of the sites are very intensive, for example lots of flash, embedded movies and so on. My connection speed is 6 KB/second (I use cable LAN) RAM is 128 MB Pentium II 350 MHz Win 98 Quote
Hi Neil, Yes I was looking for an upgrade for 2 reasons:- 1) I want to create some videos 2) Getting a faster connection Thanks Everybody for the advice. I guessed you weren't a native English speaker, but you are pretty good. I only picked up on it because of a few phrases etc, your English is a lot better than many native English speakers, believe me. I can see where you're coming from in relation to the IT books being translated, often the translations aren't properly checked and the result isn't what it was MEANT to be. Again, we're wandering from the topic . . . never mind. Edit: That was Harlequin, didn't see your reply there Shouvik.Hi, if you have a W98 OS, try to download EasyMTU in: http://www.rob.cybercomm.nl/easymtu/ I think it´s so easy to use and ideal for your 6Kb/s connection and your OS. HARLEQUIN.One question shouvik, are you sure your connection is 6KB/s and not 6Mb/s, 6KB/s would be 48Kb/s and that would be the relative speed of a dial-up connection, as you were saying you have cable (LAN)? You would think cable tends to be faster than dial-up. 8-)fffreak |

Solve : Clean vs Ruin due to Temp? |
Answer» Just a note that is common sense but my mistake shows how EASILY it can be overlooked. I started formatting and adding windows to a new drive and it came time to load up Office XP Pro. Trouble was that when I found my CD it was clear on one side but other 1/2 was so dirty I knew it was no way it would load. So, planning on cleaning it, I remember my CD cleaner is in my truck console after last use. I go outside to get it and think... "Brrrr.... it done got cold out here", but grab the cleaner and come back inside. When I came home earlier it was 65 deg, many hours later TV says it's now 28 deg, that explained that, lol. But Goof..... I then cleaned the CD several times and tried to install... it wouldnt. I cleaned again, it still wouldnt. I then finally looked closly at back of cd and discovered that while originally only 1/2 was dirty, now... the whole CD was scratched badly. It dawned on me... the gentle foam layer that normally cleans your CD by more or less sucking up the particles into it was acting in the reverse effect, at below freezing the foam is Much stiffer than normal. Instead of allowing the dirt to push up into the foam, the foam was not giving and FORCING the dirt to circulate around/on top of the CD, thereby scratching it badly. Granted that even if I had waited 4 hours or microwaved the cleaner, I could have still had a bad disc but 1/2 of disc was perfect before cleaning while after whole disc looked much cleaner but also like Krueger's kitty kat had gotten a hold of prob only 1 per mil folks actually would ever clean their cd's by an apparatus thats frozen but just wanted to warn against.I'll keep that in mind. I woulda thought very fishy myself if had read it, but unfortunatly, it really happened. Messages.. The only one that keeps haunting me is the one that said " You Dumb A$$". As for contacting Microsoft... I kinda agree, it would be an interesting thing to see if they would replace the CD, but in reality, I know it would take 4-ever and I do have it on another hard drive, if I can find... its in a cabinet somewhere.. kitchen or bathroom?.. or did I go theft proof and hide inside one of my AC ducts? Hmmm, lol Huh?If SOMEONE has sent you an insulting message, you can talk to us and have us talk to him. Who was it? |

Solve : Problems with Mp3 player? |

It sounds like your mp3 player has a low battery.Fully charged up....What sort of battery does it take? A custom one to fit the device, or a regular AAA battery? Custome battery. What's that? Is this a STANDARD battery that normally comes with that model player?I dont have a RCA Mp3 Player and this might sound a bit of a patronising question but have you locked it?! For example on my iRiver (and the majority of other Mp3 Players) there is a little switch on the side that if you flick will lock the device. For example if the device is in your pocket then the buttons CANT be pressed. Its much like with a phone, the 'Lock Keypad' function. Chris |

Solve : recent places folder? |
Answer» HI, I think someone copied a file from my laptop ONTO their USB stick while I was at work. I got home and started to work on the file, then when I pressed save it SAID 'cannot find location, please insert removable storage device into drive d' (or something like that) so I 'saved as' in another location, then checked my 'recent places' folder. SURE enough there was evidence of a removable disk being modified on my laptop whilst I was at work. I confided this to my house mate, checked my laptop again later that night and it had been deleted from the recent places folder. I now want to confront that person about what happened as it is now obvious to me that they had copied my file, but wondered if there's any way I can GET the evidence back. I have tried the undo button, but to no avail. This happened on Tuesday (8th). Can anybody help me? Thanks |

Solve : Is anyone having to deal with BYOD issues at work or HIPPA compliance?? |
Answer» I am now working in a small hospital admin office, and we are dealing with the issue of our network, and HIPAA compliance. SUMMARY OF THENot being in the medical profession nor inclined to read the applicable regulatory instruments you refer to i make the following observation. If i read your concern correctly it is a potential for hospital (maybe your own) vulnerability to the behavior of medical "professionals" to adherence and compliance with existing rules of data communications. It falls to the professionals if so advised by authority (you or the Administrator if that is not you) to follow directives. If they should be aware and there is doubt if they are i would believe information as to what is required needs to be directed at them either through group meetings or direct personal advisory. Pointing out the "legal"requirements with attendant consequences if not adhered to would also be a good idea. If the failure to adhere continues after that administrative sanctions (appropriate to hospital liability) should be applied as related to hospital disciplinary codes. ONE cannot prevent stupidity or willful misconduct but place the onus of responsibility (after enlightenment) where it properly belongs.truenorthSounds like you need full endpoint SECURITY. If you google that term, it might set you on the right path. As to how to lock down personal email accounts - I know of no way. I think you'd have to force email to REMAIN within certain restricted channels (and make it a disciplinary offence if this policy were breached). The following search reveals quite a few avenues of enquiry: http://duckduckgo.com/?q=hipaa+email+compliant+service |

Answer» I have a program that runs out of DOS and after the program starts it requires that the hotkeys be used. I've sucessfully run the program on some older AT machines in the past. On NEWER PS2 style COMPUTERS the program starts but using the hotkeys causes the screen to go BLANK. I can USE ctrl break to stop the program and return to DOS after that happens. Solve : Smartphones with Bluetooth? |
Answer» This year even more Smartphones are coming with Bluetooth connectivity. Why would you care? So what? Well, read on. CES is guaranteed to dazzle and excite, with Bluetooth technology helping to create excitement. The wave of new products will include new Bluetooth Smart and Bluetooth Smart Ready phones, health & wellness devices, consumer electronics devices, and PC peripheralI'm not so sure I would want to attempt to use Bluetooth to try to track down the person that stole my phone... It would be a quite a monumental undertaking, for one.... Quote from: Transfusion on May 20, 2012, 09:41:11 PM I'm not so sure I would want to attempt to use Bluetooth to try to track down the person that stole my phone... It would be a quite a monumental undertaking, for one....Sorry you missed my point. With the Bluetooth you never have a reason to take the phone out of your pocket. You take and make calls with the dongle that goes in lour ear. No Hands. Smartphone is out of sight. And stop using a purse. Wear a fanny pack.I guess I completely missed your point LOL, yeah fanny packs may be unsightly or outdated, but they're practical... You got me thinking about creating completely monolithic smartphones that interface with everything through wireless technology. All buttons are TURNED into capacitive touch zones. Charging can be done through inductive coils. Bluetooth has just enough range for personal use but doesn't reach beyond the walls of your office. Perhaps record stores could use Bluetooth to PROMOTE a hot-selling single, like when you walk into their vicinity a request pops up on your phone to join a Bluetooth hotspot, you click OK and it redirects you to a predefined page... http://www.liveadmobile.co.uk/news/ It's called "Bluetooth Proximity Marketing."Bluetooth was prevalent on cellphones in the mid to late 90's. For a while, bluetooth was integrated into almost every laptop, too. By the way, bluetooth can be used for more than just headsets. Many cellphones in the mid to late 90's could be synced and whatnot using a bluetooth connection to a laptop (or desktop with a bluetooth adapter). It's also completely unrelated to smartphones. I would have thought they all had bluetooth to begin with. A quick google sort of confirms this; I can't find any smartphones that don't have bluetooth capability. It's basically a replacement for that older Infrared Port that was common on older laptops, but the troublesome NATURE of Infrared transfer made it difficult to use.A clarification. The Bluetooth is NOT u;ed to link to the cell tower, which may be miles away. B A t short range, under two meters, Bluetooth can operate in full-duplex in the presence of other microwave transceivers, including then smartphone itself. It is transparent to the user. Once trained, the device 'knows' its partner. Bluetooth can run very low power at short range. Recharging the energy cell is almost a non-issue. The Bluetooth dongle will talk all day. But the smartphone won't. Smartphones have Bluetooth applicability. But not all have it implemented. Many low-end cell phones do not have it. Bluetooth can be implemented for a very secure short range connection. Bear in mind that field strength of radio waves decrease with the inverse of the square of the distance. With the digital methods used in current digital technology. You could have everybody in a shopping mall using a Bluetooth all at the same time. But the smartphone has to be on your person on in the fanny pack. Well within two meters. Voice activated allows you to call out. It understand ssimple commands and numbers. In different languages. There is a button on the dongle that you hit to turn off the mic when you don't want the thing to respond. Or the button can be on the smartphone and you can squeeze it without taking it out. Yes, is SOUNDS like digital wireless overkill. But this is where technology is taking us. New devices with performance beyond what was POSSIBLE many years ago.( Except for the military and very big companies.) Most of this was at the CES. More is coming. Bluetooth is alive. Bluetooth headsets do not need a 1 or 10mbps speed for basic voice transmission. A speed of 64 kbps is enough for digital voice . (And will sound better that a typical analog telephone.) Low bandwidth makes it possible for reliable secure short range communication between the smartphone and the headset. If everybody kept their smartphone in a pocket wile walking about, grab and run theft would go down. Of cause, the criminals will think of some other way to get you. Judging by recent USA news, it would seem that the criminals are now using banks as a form of legal gambling. Why bother with petty theft? Why not put a message on the background screen to deter theft ? ? After all you're convinced it woulld work for laptops... Quote Bluetooth is alive.I'm sorry...where have you been living? I can remember Bluetooth being in phones for at least the last 10 years. Although, I did notice when I was in the US that the whole area of mobile/cell phones is actually behind Europe as regards the latest and greatest. I'm unsure if it's this or just Geek being Geek. The US is behind. Unexplainable. PCMag is published in the USA and they called attention to some new stuff from HTC. Is HTC's StereoClip The Future of Bluetooth Audio? You're officially off the edge now... Quote from: patio on May 21, 2012, 04:11:27 PM You're officially off the edge now...Patio, I didn't design these tings. I never said I like the idea. It is what it is. Everybody is going to get one. It is unavoidable. Its the new thing. HTC is a big player and has the money - to convince every everybody to love it and buy it. Except you and me. ..and am am not very sure about you.If you actually read the article, it's not about stereo bluetooth devices being something new, it's about the quality of audio received over said devices. The HTC one uses a better codec for clearer audio. However, this isn't something new, as mentioned in the article the Plantronics Backbeat headset has excellent quality. I know that first-hand as well, as I own a pair of them and they've been around for years. This is actually my second pair of Backbeat headphones, as my chihuahua though the first pair made a good chew toy. They also talk about battery life being an issue with many bluetooth stereo devices. My Backbeat gets 7 hours of continuous listening, which is more than enough for me. I only have to charge it about every 2-3 days, and I use it quite a bit with my Samsung Galaxy Tab. I don't see Bluetooth reducing phone theft. I'd wager that more phones get quietly stolen out of people's pockets or bags by pickpockets than they do right out of their hands. Quote from: patio on May 21, 2012, 04:11:27 PM You're officially off the edge now... I can't disagree. Quote from: quaxo on May 22, 2012, 12:02:26 AM I don't see Bluetooth reducing phone theft. I'd wager that more phones get quietly stolen out of people's pockets or bags by pickpockets than they do right out of their hands. I've been trying to figure out geek's reasoning. The best I can come up with is if you are in a seedy neighborhood then it might be better to keep your phone in your pocket rather then out in the open. But that doesn't make a whole lot of sense since it will still be obvious to most people that you have a cellphone anyway. Besides, if you're in a seedy neighborhood and you have a smartphone I would argue that most people would be using it to get out of that area using the mapping software, which last I checked sort of needs to have you holding it. Basically, As far as theft is concerned, this won't solve anything, since for places where it might be a problem, the problem has to do with the area and local crime and has nothing to do with how you are carrying it.I know a lot of people here who have had their phones stolen. All of them without their immediate knowledge. On public transportation and at big crowded markets is where it usually happens here. Stolen from their bags or pockets. There's a huge market for used (translated "stolen") mobile phones here. Most places that buy second hand phones will do so with no questions asked, no proof of ownership required. You can find several of these shops in any given shopping mall in Bangkok. Quote Basically, As far as theft is concerned, this won't solve anything, since for places where it might be a problem, the problem has to do with the area and local crime and has nothing to do with how you are carrying it.It has a lot to do with how you carry it. Where do you live? Would you carry your credit card between your fingers? You don't need to hold your cell phone to use Google maps. You don't even have to look at it. |

Solve : People come into our lives....? |
Answer» i had to share this with u guys too.....something to think about People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime. When you know which one it is, you will know what to do for that person. When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your PART or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. Sometimes they walk away. Sometimes they ACT up and force you to take a stand. What we MUST realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on. Some people come into your life for a SEASON, because your turn has come to share, GROW or learn. They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh. They may teach you something you have never done. They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy. But only for a season. LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons, things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation. Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life. |

Solve : Best Way To Backup PC? |
Answer» I'm novice, I wanted to know if somebody here has a guide on the best way to make sure my PC has it's FILES and setting backed up. The best way to back up your PC is to create hard drive image.Free for Western Digital Internal hard drives. http://support.wdc.com/product/downloaddetail.asp?swid=119&wdc_lang=en I'm with Broni on this. Disk Imaging software takes a "snapshot" of your drive as it exists at the time you create the image. You can then restore the entire image or any file(s) or folder(s) you choose. It is a virtually foolproof way of backing up your system and providing a safe haven in the event of a catastrophe that requires you to blow away your system partition and restore it to a previous state. It also allows you to "test" various software and be confident that you have a the ability to return to the prior state any time you choose. I use Acronis True Image. It is the best of breed, but it isn't free. The best free alternative is Macrium Reflect. 1) I create an image of my system partition once a week to a second hard drive and keep the 2 or 3 most recent images. I also image my other partitions about once a month. I always enable "verify image" in the options. It takes a little longer, but insures a valid image. 2) I also create an image before performing any drive level function (ie, changing the size of a partition) or making any significant change to the OS (INSTALLING a service pack, upgrading IE, etc). Also sometimes before installing new software. 3) Images may be created on any medium (cd, dvd, external drive, etc). For obvious reasons they should not be stored on the same drive you are imaging. The best option is a second internal hd if you have one. 4) Images may be created "in the background" within the OS. If you need to restore the system partition, that will need to be done before the OS loads. You can start the process within the application in the OS and it will then tell you it needs to reboot to finish the process. Alternatively, you can boot to a "recovery disk" which you can create when you first install the software (or to the application disk itself if you have one). Other partitions can be restored without a reboot. This is not actually a disagreement. What Broni and Allen said represents the preference of most personal computer users. A snapshot image is a sure way to make sure you get everything back, including the system files needed to boot your computer. But on the other hand, the backup utility divided by Microsoft is functional.Heck, should be called a industrial grade program. In a commercial setting it works very well. For most home users it seems rather awkward, even bizarre. If you wish to learn how the Microsoft backup program works, you need to start practicing on a few very small files in perhaps a couple of small folders. The default backup device is the floppy drive. So, it's rather obvious why many people don't even want to try to learn how to use the MS backup. But back up device can also be a tape drive or even an external hard drive. From time to time I use the Microsoft active utility for certain specific issues. If there is any interest in this I might make another post somewhere else and explain in more detail. Unfortunately, the documentation included is very, very thin.Let's add EASEUS Todo Backup Free 2.5 to the list. What I currently do is -Put in my external harddrive (I have seagate) -Go to my documents, drag it to the ex hard drive -Go to my music/pictures, do the same 1) What advantages does creating an image have over what I do? 2) I also don't seem to understand, when you create an image, is that -Just an image of your desktop icons -Or an image of all your files/folders/programs Meaning if your PC got destroyed and you had to re-format, you could just put in the ex hard drive, click the image, and all the software files, icons, documents, pictures, and music would be on? 3) I don't plan to use the "paid" version, so it using one of those free versions worth learning as opposed to my status QUO? 4) In Windows Vista, is there a way to get it so the PC automatically back ups daily/weekly or if not, can you get it to remind you (if so how)? 5) Last, what about system restore? What is that, I mean is that where your PC basically backs up on it's own C-drive, which is good unless the OS needs removed? -How does system restore work and how is it best used or done? Thanks!Did your external HD not come with an excellent backup program? Traditionally, backup is done by files and directories. Older backup devices could not duplicate the file system of a hard drive. The backup device was a tap recorder. Am image backup is a supplication of everything on your computer. Of course, the backup device is not a resubstitute for hour computer, but it does have all the information. So it is called an image. It is essence without substance. Windows 7 has built-in backup tools. The Microsoft site has more information. Windows 7 features. Backup and Restore There is lot more to be sad about backup. but i don't want to 'snow' you with too much information. After reading the MS info. come back here and ask some questions. So if I use one of these, and my hardrive goes kaboom 1) Can I get all my files (docs/music/pics) back? 2) Can I get all my software (MS Office/iTunes/Skype) back? 3) Can I get all my settings back (like what my username was and desktop background/time)? 4) Will this save automatically? 5) When I get my PC back, how can I restore it to the way it was? Quote from: bluecountry on October 11, 2011, 01:05:02 AM So if I use one of these, and my hardrive goes kaboom 1) Yes, thats why its a back up 2) The software is what YOU should install, so just re-install it 3) Yes, that whats backed up (except the time 'set' in the BIOS and does not apply) 4) Depends on what software you use 5) back from where / what ??Well I got my PC back today, and I don't ever want this problem again. Should I get something like carbonite/dropbox or would Acronis True Image or Macrium Reflect be better? Again, I want it where all my files (docs/settings/itunes) are automatically backed up. I can access them from any PC or Mobile device and if my PC breaks again, I just can go to the site, and be able to restore my PC with all files and docs to the way it was. I hear carbonite advertised all the time, never heard of acronis.Would I be able to with acronis use this and transfer data to my iPhone, or if I SWITCH computers, to a mac? Can it backup my itunes music and playlist?Wow, I think carbonite might be better, how come none of you recommended it?Carbonite Ii a cloud server. About $60 a year. Or you can buy a Seagate Go Flex for about $90 with a one year warranty. So carbonite is the same thing, basically, as apple iCloud? I think I am going with carbonite, unless you all think something else is better and cheaper! |

Solve : ni-mh battery charging? |
Answer» i got a problem im trying to charge batterys but they stop when i charge thom for like 5 minutes i dont now why please helpMore details, please. Is this a battery for a laptop computer? How many batteries? How old are they? How are you trying to charge them? its a double AA and when i try to charge alkaline batteries(non rechargeable) it does not charge Quote from: computer 12 on May 26, 2012, 11:21:53 AM when i try to charge alkaline batteries(non rechargeable) it does not charge Huh? That's normal. Many Ni-MH chargers will shut off if you try to charge alkalines (They see them as faulty rechargeables). You can't charge ordinary alkaline batteries, and it is dangerous to try, they can explode. Non-rechargeable alkalines are "primary cells" Manufacturers of primary batteries expressly forbid recharging. When they are finished, you throw them away. Attempting to recharge a discharged alkaline battery can cause the production of gas within the canister. As the canister is normally sealed, very HIGH pressures can be created within it. This can rupture the seal, resulting in leakage of the contents — for example, aqueous potassium hydroxide and identifiable in more severe cases as a hissing sound from the battery — or even an explosion. Warning signs include bulging of the ends of the battery. Recharging a battery produces heat within the battery. Sometimes the heat can be excessive, with the attendant risks of fire, explosion and/or injury. Potassium hydroxide is corrosive and may cause injury, especially to the eyes and skin, or corrode the battery contacts in the equipment. Eye protection is always advisable when recharging any batteries. If you've been putting normal Alkaline batteries into a ni-mh battery charger then you are lucky you have not caused a fire. Why you could possibly think charging a none re-chargable is a good idea? See here http://www.ehow.co.uk/info_8417947_happens-regular-alkaline-battery-charger.html I dont want to offend, but aren't there any adults around? Because i'm pretty sure this is common knowledge, so as a safety precaution it may be more practical to ask them before doing anything like this, before you hurt yourself or others. Nice re-edit Salmon, if i'd have seen that sooner, i would not have bothered to post. Quote from: reddevilggg on May 26, 2012, 12:08:54 PM I dont want to offend, but aren't there any adults around? Because i'm pretty sure this is common knowledge I was going to post something along those lines, quite biting I guess, but I recently got a PM from a moderator about excessive sarcasm (I asked if a first-time poster had a Caps Lock key on their keyboard). Quote from: Salmon Trout on May 26, 2012, 01:01:02 PM I was going to post something along those lines, quite biting I guess, It could be taken as sarcasm i suppose, but it is not meant that way. When i was young (and there was no internet), if i had an idea like that, i would have asked my parents first, before attempting it myself. My Dad would always have told me the right thing to do and why. Just seems like a bit of a strange question to ask on a forum. Quote from: reddevilggg on May 26, 2012, 01:13:51 PM Just seems like a bit of a strange question to ask on a forum. Seems that way to me, too. I thought everybody knew that plain old alkalines are used once only. It seems kind of obvious, given that it is kind of hard to AVOID noticing that batteries are divided into two tribes: rechargeable and non-rechargeable. He even uses the phrase "non-rechargeable" in connection with the alkaline cells that refuse to charge. And with a caution on the side of all commercial non-rechargable batteries stating something along the lines of - Do not mis-use or re-charge due to risk of leakage or explosion.Dou you suppose he'll post any more in this thread? I'm not Unless he's lookin for a deal on fire extinguishers...ok i just putted the alkalines to see how stupid my charger is not that stupid any way the charger is usb, how many mA does a usb 2.0 and 1.1? and by the way in the cellar the floor is tilt and its cold Struggling to make any sense out of your post, computer12. USB 1.1 and USB2.0 specifications both define a maximum draw of 5 unit loads, with a unit load being 100MA (THEREFORE maximum draw 500mA). USB3.0 defines a unit load as 150mA, and a maximum draw is 6 units loads (900mA). HOWEVER the ports on some computers may not be compliant (over or under) |

Solve : The Truth About Printer Ink.? |
Answer» I want to know. Is said topic a dead issue?) For once google nailed it...It comes down to a number of things, but one of the main things is indeed the quality of the ink. While in appearance they might look the same, cheap ink is not equal to the stuff original cartridges are filled with. First, there's color quality. Original inks tend to last longer before fading. While this isn't so important for your average printing (B&W documents, things people plan on tossing out eventually, etc.) it does matter when people want to print things that last, such as photos or documents they want to last LONG and still look good. Second, it's been reported that some third party inks cause more clogs because of low quality ink. It's not to say that originals won't clog the heads, but it's less likely. Finally, third party products (cartridges or tanks) aren't always made to the best of standards and sometimes leak, ruining the printer for the most part.quaxo, I just got some cheap ink for my HP 6500 I fear you are right. The cheep carts leak and rewind my hardwood floor. The HP carts never did that.In my opinion they are so expensive because the producer ( hp for instance ) tries to get its money back for printer device. Here in Romania i got an Canon printer for 40 euros and its inks (color one and balck/white one) were 20 euros, so if i will not refill the first inks next time when i will get new ones i will have my printer's price . Quote from: Geek-9pm on May 18, 2012, 11:34:18 AM quaxo, It's very popular here in Thailand for people to use tank systems or clone/refilled cartridges simply because of the cost of originals (they cost as much as they do in the US). You wouldn't believe the number of times I've had printers brought to me that had the tank system's tubes leak or clogged print heads or leaking cartridges. And given the time and cost to repair these printers, it's often cheaper just to get a new one. It gets on the rollers, feeders, gears, everything. Without being disassembled and completely cleaned, it will never print right again. Like I said before, I'm not saying original ink will never cause clogs or issues, it's just less frequent. For printers that have a single print head (part of the printer, not the cartridges), replacing the print head is very expensive. I had a Canon Pixma 3300. Paid $100 for it, new. Used and abused it for years. Finally, after about 4 years, the black section of the print head clogged. Tried everything to unclog it but no luck. The print head was easy to remove with the lift of a lever. Called Canon and asked if I could get a new print head somewhere, to which they said I could, but it would cost $75. The printer was promptly sold for $10 to a junk dealer and I bought an HP Advant K109a-z, which has the cartridges with print heads built into them, so if one gets clogged, toss the cartridge and get another. So far, it hasn't let me down. I still wouldn't use clone/refilled cartridges with my HP THOUGH, even though the print head clogging wouldn't be an issue. Still have to deal with leaks and cheap ink. Anyway, I would advise ANYONE that while the printer is still under warranty to use original cartridges so it doesn't void the warranty when something does go wrong. How much do you pay? I have to spend $60 for both cartridges but, I hardly print stuff. |
