I am putting together a new computer with:
AMD Athlon 2800+ processor,
FIC AU13 motherboard,
Corsair 2 3200 250mb ram sims,
Sony DRU-530A DVD/CD burner,
Western Digital, 250gig hd.
Generic video card

I have a radeon 9800 pro and wonder pro cards to install but I am leaving them out to eliminate them as a problem.

I am USING a lanboy case with 350w power supply and an intake and an exhaust fan, 80mm ea.

My problem is that on first boot, the system check sees the DVD/CDRom, and the hard DRIVE, then it APPEARS to stop the system check and does not give me any video display so that I can SETUP the cmos so that the computer will boot to the DVD/CDRom so I can set up the hard drive.

What the heck am I doing wrong?

The motherboard, comes with add on fire wire jacks and pins for the 2 usb ports in the front of the case. I have tried to boot with and without them connected.

The board also comes with a 5.1 add on card that I have left connected, and not tried to boot without it connected.

HHHHHHHHHHHeeeeeeeeeeelllllllllllpppppp ppppp!!!!!!!Have you tried resetting the BIOS?  Often when you first try to start up a computer it will give you problems.  If you find the jumper for the bios, reset the bios and try to start the computer again it might help.

You should find directions in your motherboard BOOK on how to do this.  Just make sure that the computer is unplugged when you do this.I might be wrong but with a AMD processor like that and the main board I would not have gone lower than a 400-450w power supply.  These new computers require a lot more juice than you could imagine.

I CURRENTLY have Windows XP and use internet explorer v.6 sp1. I also downloaded the latest update for sp1. I used internet explorer fine for a long time, then RECENTLY any web page that opens in a new window doesnt appear. NO text or images. The window appears with nothing in it. There isnt a error either, it just stays white for a long time and then I close it. I dont know what happened. Can someone help me?I too having this kind of problem and I'm using Window Me.  Whenever I try to see a picture or click to a link that have to open to a new window, it will refuse or it will do nothing about it.  I finally solved my dilemma.  Unbeknown to me, I was running Internet Explorer 5, and I updated it to a current version specifically for Window Me; I still have IE version 5, but its been updated to it's current component.  I guess my PREVIOUS IE has a damage or missing component, the reason I couldn't access a new window whenever I click to a link.    Rand Pablo,

I havea similar problem. It first occured after I loaded a drop down limiter while running IE 6. Even though I  RELOADED IE 6 the problem persists. If I click on an imbedded URL a small window opens centred on the URL but otherwise nothing.

This means I cannot Use IE and have to use another browser. Any Suggestions for a fix in 98Merlin, thank you for your response. It worked great!! I tried everything, but this actually worked, thanks a lot.

I got a laptop which I want to format, but there is a problem:

I can only have EITHER CD-rom or floppydrive installed. If I format the harddrive, I will need a bootable XP-CD. How can I know if my CD is bootable? - or is there another solution?Put the CDROM in the drive and re-boot the computer.  

To be honest you don't really need to reformat as xp will give you a choice during the installation process of deleting and creating partitions.The problem is that when I put the installation-CD in the drive, the computer STILL run WINDOWS. I try to GET into the bios to change the boot order and enable multi-boot, but after TRYING all the keys on the keyboard I still havent got in there...

I am having a constant repetative occurance of my
computer dumping to a full reboot. It happens after
running for a few minutes while working at cut and paste and or "save as opperations" or most "right click" context opperations. It never happens when I boot the machine and let it just run all day. It is a HP Pavilion a430n running Win XP Home. I have done all the Virus and Spyware checks. I have also used the msconfig to remove all but the minimum startup files.  I now have a copy of an error message that resulted when the computer self reboots. Also, as I clicked on a "save as" dialog box just before the reboots, the entire taskbar was jumping around! Here is the error message.

question how old is your pc ?if its new call the boys to fix it..the nvida graphics card is the culprit. and needs to be removed by opening the case?or.either remove it from the device manger  to do this right-click  my computer  /properties /device manager/harware/scroll down to adapters and remove it on re-boot windows will find it there it could be irq problem thats causing it. and while your there is look for any yellow icons if there is it should throw up an error code or update the driver a corupted driver may be that problem also if you can type dxdiag in the run box this will also help you? suggestions and TESTS you can try hthHello Merlin. The computer is not very old but I was not able to

use it right away as I had to leave the area for over

a month. The HP Support techs now tell me that I

have to wipe the drive and reinstall the windows!

There are no errors showing at this time in the

device manager. When I find the latest driver for

this Video board, I will follow your sugestion to

remove it (the display ADAPTER) from the Device

Manager and reinstall it with that driver. At the end

of your reply, I see, "suggestions and tests you can

This sounds very similar to a situation I once had regarding Nvidia drivers.  I failed to fully disable any of my anti-virus, firewall and internet security software.  When this did happen to me I simply had to fully remove all current video drivers through add/remove programs TURN off all anti-virus softwares and reinstall the most current video drivers.  It was so bad for me once that I seriously had to wait for a couple of weeks for Nvidia to have yet a newer version to work out the last of the bugs.  I dont know if this will help.

I have Windows XP Home, and yesterday I decided to change the splash screen.  Well, forgetting I had SP1 I installed a non-SP1 splash screen.  Now I can't BOOT into my computer, not even into safe mode.  Any suggestions?i think you need to replace the NTFS kernal via the recovery console. But dont ask me how. Or just REINSTALL windows from the CD without formating then SAVE any stuff you wasnt to keep to CD or another HDD and then do a FULL format and a clean windows install.Try system restore or place the WINXP cd in the drive options will appear and chose the repair options or the recovery console thats if you install winxp with those options...just place this link to show you what else is on the winxp cd>http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;306794

I use WIN 98, but a FRIEND uses DOS 6.2.  He has had a CRASH and it appears that command.com has dropped out.

How or where can I get a DOS 6.2 Boot DISK, as I know that I am unable to create it from 98?

I installed an EXTRA hard drive to copy stuff too because i HVE to reistall Windows, but even tho in the device manager it SAYS its installed and working PROPERLY it wont display in My Computer to access it.  How do you get it accessable?no o/s mentioned but remove it from the device manager and reboot it should REAPPEAR as drive f etc depending on what drives you have. and how they are partitioned..

Does anyone know how to delete personal pictures from the wallpaper without deleting from the My Pictures file. I've been trying to figure it out and when I delete from wallpaper it automatically deletes fropm my picturers file.

I'm USING Windows XP Home Edition.How exactly are you deleting the personal picture from the wallpaper?Deleting by:

1. Desktop Property

2. Highlighting wallpaper

3. Browse

4. DeleteOk... if you are browsing this is not part of the wallpapers this is actually your EXPLORER... so you are actually deleting the file and not the wallpaper entry in the wallpaper listing.

The only method I'm aware of to REMOVE the wallpaper listing is to move the file to an alternate location. Open your wallpaper listing and it will no longer be listed. Once it is no longer listed you can move it back to its original location.

If any users are FAMILIAR with an alternate method and/or a utility that enables a user to customize their wallpaper listings please feel free to post it.

Personal wallpapers are stored in the folder My Pictures so just go in to the folder find the file and move it to another location. The same apply`s for new pictures just save the file in my pictures and it will appear in the display for the desktop

I am running XP on An AMD Athlon 2500. The CD rom, CDRW, the mouse and the keyboard have all failed. They have POWER to the various items and all are vertually brand new. The system boots all ok but I cant GET into it. Have checked all connections and they are fine,cables fine,changed keyboards and mouse etc etc but still nothing - any ideas - all will be appreciated.when you boot do any lights flash on the keyboard(num lock)any beeps from the mobo do you obtain POST?check the mobo for capacitors leaning over and for tracking on the board amd do run very hot?also check the psu ?

When trying to defrag a Compaq PRESARIO running 98, I get a message that says "you do not have enough memory to run this" I've closed everything except explorer and systray. Same thing. I've booted in safe mode. Same thing. Scandisk did the same thing but would run in safe mode. Any ideas?Is it possible that you do not have enough SPACE on your hard disk? if it is nearing it's capacity there may not be enough space for Windows virtual memory.

Peteto free up more memory GO in the control PANEL add/remove stuff like themes etc that you do not use get a cleaner like advanced system optimizer to clean cookies temp files etc ,run scan for virus/worms and  download free ram and allways disable the screensaver when defragging how much  ram have you gotI've got 384mb of RAM. There's one other odd thing - if I go into DOS and use a "mem" command, there's something like 578 k in a reserved status. Could this be part of the problem; I've never seen reserved ram before.I used google to check on the error message number - DEFRAG009. The guy who had his hands on this machine before used Partition Magic to set up the hard drive. This, along with FAT32 is incompatible with WIN98. The fix is to put the drive in another machine with either XP or 2000, as a slave, and defrag it there. I'm gonna start over and reformat the thing.Thats why the out of mem message came up thanks for the feed BACK its always best to know your own machine

I've just recently PURCHASED a new laptop.  Today when I TURNED it on, I played some music and the sound isn't as crisp as before.         Does anyone know how to make it so that it sounds NORMAL again?

hello,     I was told both in two different point of views that I explain below.

  1st point of view:    When I go to purchase RAM or a processor I heard that ram has to have a higher front side bus rate or the same as the processor's front side bus rate.

  2nd point of view:   Make sure your ram speed is faster than your processor Ghz, such as RAM speed of PC2700 can't support a 3.2 ghz processor but it can support 2.7 ghz processor and below.

I was told that this 2nd paragragh was the wrong way to determine it and the 1st one was the right way and visa versa

   Which one of these opinions are the the right one?

   anyone? I need an answer quick because I have a research report DUE really soon.1. This is only necessary if you want the best performance out of a processor, an Athlon 2500 with an FSB of 400 should work fine with 2100(266mhz) + ram. However performance will not be as good.

2. 2700 RAM runs at 333mhz, I believe the highest speed DDR ram is 3700 which runs at 466Mhz so you wouldn’t have the ram the same speed as the processor. The only ram that goes higher than a processor is SRAM that is used on graphics cards. E.g. on a Geforce TI 4200 the GPU is 250 and the memory is about 450.

I have been having this PROBLEM with my internet ever since I set up the home NETWORK in my house. I will connect to the internet automatically upon every start up and disconnect with every shut down. My problem is that if there is an amount of time (which is variable) of which I am inactive and even sometimes when I am on the COMPUTER, the internet will just shut off and will not ALLOW me to reconnect. Do you have any suggestions as to how I could solve this problem? Thanks.

I installed Win98se on a formatted HDD. I did most of the MSFT critical updates, including Internet Explorer.  Everything was running fine, then about a week later, I started to get pop-ups that wont close (either by using the X button or right-clicking on the bottom taskbar window thats open) as well as the main page of Internet Explorer.  I have to do a Ctrl-Alt-Del and End-Task all of IE's open WINDOWS.  This is the first time ever that I've encountered this.

Well, I'm needing a new video card so we can play games on the computer. I'm needing to know what kind I need. AGP or PCI? On the SIDE of my computer it says AGP. So I purchised one. Then when you go to find out what kind of chipset you have on the computer it says PCI? Look on the motherboard.  Towards the BOTTOM of it you will probably see several white slots in a row.  Some might have some cards plugged into them, and some might not.

If you have an AGP slot, there will be a single brown slot directly above and maybe an inch or so to the right the white slots.

I recently helped my brother install a new 40gig HD in his Gateway PC running WinME. The original 15gig HD was nearly full. He wanted the new HD to be the Master and the old one the slave. So, as I have done dozens of times before, I configured the jumpers and ribbon cables, installed the new HD USING the utility software that came with it on CD (which FORMATS, partitions, loads system files), and when finished, the PC would boot to the new HD (Master), but the old one (Slave) had no drive letter assigned. We could not access it.

I rebooted and entered the BIOS. Both HDDs were set to Auto Detect, and BIOS showed them both by name and size, but the slave had no letter assigned. Thus, we could not access it.

I reconfigured the jumpers and cables so that the machine would now boot from the old HD as Master, but still, no letter was assigned to the new 40gig Slave. Again, I entered the BIOS. It showed both drives by name and size, etc., but would not assigned a letter to the slave. No matter which one I configured as Slave, BIOS would not assign a letter

I don't know the name of the BIOS Gateway used on this machine (and I am now out of state and can't look at it). As this PC boots up, the BIOS POST does not show on screen. The screen is blank until WinME loads. Is this typical of WinME or of Gateway? Anyone know?

Anyone have any idea what the problem is? Why will this BIOS not assign the slave a drive letter? We checked and double checked our jumpers and cables Anyone had a similar experience? How did you solve or work around it?RayB: I'm in a similar situation. My 13gig master drive was beginning to MAKE an awful noise, so I replaced it with a 40 GIG as master. I already had a 40g as a slave installed. Now, my new master boots fine, but I too cannot see the slave drive. In system properties/device manager, it shows the two drives, but my computer only shows the single drive. Yes, I have done this a dozen times, always successful. Why the lack of recognizing this drive?  
I did unplug the ribbon cable and power from the slave when installing the new master, then installed new OS, 98SE, then plugged the slave back in.  

If you come up with any answers, I would sure appreciate any info. Thanks!Since the machine is in Ga and I am in Ms, it will be awhile before I can try what I have discovered so far, but a couple of web sites you may want to try are: fdisk.com and format.com.  From what I have read there (and links from those pages), I think the problem is incompatible partitioning and formatting by using an overlay (like MaxBlast by Maxtor, or something similar from another HD mfg.). If the two drives are not partitioned and formatted by the same means, then the machine BIOS will not assign one a letter. I don't know why, but this is what I have read. And as I said, I don't YET know if it will solve my brother's problem, but as soon as I can try it, I will. What I plan to do is remove the MaxBlast overlay from the new 40gig Maxtor HD and re-partition it using fdisk.exe, and the format using format.exe. Then see if both are assigned letters. If not, then I don't know the next move. But if you are where you can go ahead and try this, do so and let me know if it works for you.

I have a 3 year old Compaq Presario and am having problems with the text size in every program I run.  For example, when I open webpages, the text is so big I have to constantly scroll to READ THINGS and sometimes I can't read text at the bottom of webpages.  It's like this in every program I run, the text is just too big.  The PROBLEM is that I am unable to change it.  Win98 won't LET me change the screen resolution or text size for some reason.  Is this a graphics card issue or a driver issue or has anyone ever heard of a problem like this?  THANKS!try updating graphics driver  and scan for worms/virus how long as this been happening...

One of my students created a text file using the EDIT command. He added text to the file which was ONLY 5 characters.
When he went to view the directory CONTENTS of the drive, the file size was reported as 7 (remember this is a text file and there were ONLY 5 characters). Why was that?

I have Windows XP and my computer was working fine and dandy until the other day when I shut it off. Now whenever I try to start my computer it goes to a screen that asks which action to take. I have the option of three types of safe modes, start with old configuration, and start normally. Any time I select one of the options the computer freezes and will not load windows. I was told to reinstall windows but I do not know how to get the system to read the CD when I put it in since I only have the above options. I found part of the problem in that I had installed InCD and I REMOVED it and The Disconnect boxes in these devices' settings needed to be checked. I did these things and my cds worked fine, til just a little bit ago.  
I remembered that the problems started about the time I added a usb connected HP printer and a usb camera and I already had a usb cam on my computer.  I've since removed the newer camera, and a little bit ago, I removed my HP printer.  Now, I cant get my cds to work and I am none the wiser to my problem.  I know a little about computers (I've only had 3 classes), and am still willing to learn all I can.  If you can help me find the right path to take to fix my pc problem, I would be greatful!

I've built a PC from TWO old ones. I don't have a Win98 CD. When I try to use the USB ports it won't let me. I have tried to install the Intel 82371AB/EB PCI to USB Universal Host Contoller from the Control Panel, but it tells me I need better drivers. I've tried a few, but it asks for the disc. Intel don't have the drivers. Any ideas would be very much appreciated. I have BROADBAND and a new mouse waiting to be plugged in! Thanks.Let me first ask you------ when windows comes up does it automatically recognize the usb controllers? If not then usb support may be disabled in the BOIS. Get into Bios and make SURE it is enabled, then Windows should see usb as plug and play on next start up. I don't think this is DRIVER issue.

My CDR and DVD players are tempermental and will not always read what's in them.  They were working fine one day and now they aren't.  Sometimes it will autoplay but most of the time if I go into "MY COMPUTER" they don't even show up.  HELP!! Please.Clean the drives you can buy a disc CLEANER which you place in the drives what discs are you USING and what o/s is it...bri Gee, could it be as EASY as that???

well I never fixed the previous problem, but I do know that it is a java script problem. When I go over a link with my mouse, the bottom of explorer will SAY somthing like:

when it SAYS this or something like this, the window will not WORK. The window will open, but then nothing happens, it doesnt load. I always have to right click and TELL it to copy shortcut. I dont know how to fix the javascript error. Please help!

I'm using windows 98. I accidently set a picture as background the other day when I was trying to save it to my hard drive. Now it shows on startup and shutdown instead of the windows 98 startup and shut down screen.  

Does ANYONE know what I need to do to fix this?

~AndreaPersonally I would find the file named "Internet Explorer Wallpaper.bmp" (without the quotes) in the C:\Windows directory and delete it.  This should leave you with a blank start up/shut down screen.  If You want you can then find a picture that you are happy with and set it as Explorer wallpaper. this picture will probably be your new start up/shut down screen.

There is a way of separately editing your start up/shut down screen but I'm afraid I can't remember it.  If it comes to me I'll try to post it.

I'm running Windows 98 SE. Whenever I want to play GAMES of any kind including games on the internet my computer will freeze totally. The Ctrl-Alt-Delete will not work and the mouse will not move. My C drive is 13 Gigs, with about 6.5 of that is being used. I tried defragmenting my C drive and still my computer freezes. What can I do to stop this freezing? My computer can handle the games because they play anywhere for 5-45 + minutes, but then they freeze without warning. I really want this problem to be fixed. Please Help!
PruzyAre the game discs scratched/damaged I've been playing happily before and all of a sudden got the dreaded blue death screen and the PC won't go any further and had to Ctrl-Alt-Delete or pull the plug.

Do any of the games have a diagnostic program? if they do try running it.   Some games MAY require a different version of Direct X.  Then again I have found some games especially newer ones need the most up-to-date device drivers.  I'm not saying that this will definately cure your problem but this is what I would try first.

2.Go Online and buy a new power supply or switch the ram or any othere hardware untill you find what the problem is.

3. If you have an Nvidia Geforce card or mostly any card. I and lots of other people have expirenced porblem with the new drivers 56.13" You might want to INSTALL older dirvers like 53 or 44. This happened to me when i installed the new driver lots of games CRASHED so i installed drivers and evreything was back to normal.

4. Defragment your hardrive or reinstall/uninstall your windows.

5. MAKE sure any wires from your computer are not damaged or Bent. Especially your power supply

6. Go to Your bios and check that anything isnt overheating.

7. Update Windows run virus scannes and Spware remover utilities. Sometimes Spyware will restart your computer for no reason or install software.

8. If all fails call Microsoft or someone who made your computer. (I Think they arent doing updates any more for Windows 98 So make sure you check)

Had to erase the hard drive so STARTING over and can not GET my MICROSOFT Money to accept the backup.  I also have a genealogy program called FAMILY Tree Maker and it will not take its backup either.  I have spoken with the FTM techs and they can't figure it out.   This is only the start of my problems but will not add them all on one message.  ThanksNot exactly what you asked for but I had a similar problem when I did my first re-install with Outlook Express.  I had to go to the root folder where it saves the data in this case .dbx files (I think).  Then once I re-installed Windows I had to go back in the root folder, copy and PASTE them.  There was a transfer wizard but I found it easier to do it manually.

Ok, I have a FRIENDS COMPUTER, I fixed it up for him from scratch, whoever built it the first time did it soo *censored* backwards that its not even funny, but its all up and running now, the only problem i have at the present MOMENT is that is master CD-Rom, drive D:, is not responding, it keeps telling me to put a disc in the drive, when i have tried several, i have uninstalled the drivers, reinstalled them, several times, and I can't seem to think of anything else, other that completely detatching it from the inside and reattach it and SEE if its a loose WIRE, but i wouldn't think so, it tells me all over that its working properly and all the drivers have been signed, if anyone has a suggestion, please let me know thanks. :-*[colohttp:// you should run the cd rom ultility form MilanKSoftware that will check yuor cd for content and clean as much it can. Booting up my computer, it makes  a "loud" winding noise. No knocks or extra noise etc. but sometimes "huffs" until everything gets loaded upon my desktop. Then the computer's "effort" stops and reaches its equilibrium and works NORMAL.  

P.S. I have an Authentic  AMD Duron processor (700mH) and Maxtor hard drive if this mattersOpen up your computer case, start up your computer and try to pinpoint where it is coming from. It could be the fan on your CPU or the Fan on your Video CARD.  It could be your Hard drive.A month ago I changed my CPU fan and that didn't fix the problem, and a couple of weeks ago I went to the Maxtor website to do a diagnostic check on my hard drive and I had a difficult time complteing this due to issues with my floppy drive.  In the mean time how do I check my video card because SOMETHING tells me this may the cause. When starting up the computer (WINDOWS ME) and all icons and the screen background are installed, this box comes up stating, "CREATE the 32th button fail!"  How can I get rid of it?  NOTE:  There is an "OK" button on the box, and this deletes the box, but does not solve my PROBLEM every time I boot up the computer.  Thanks in advance for your help.I might also make note that on the top of this small box it reads, "TEST".  Like so:

(START----RUN type msconfig) uncheck anything that LOOKS fishy. If that doesn't work do a find in the registry (start---run type regedit) for that phrase.

I have a REGISTRY file to be IMPORTED into the Registry. That file contains absolute paths like C:\xxxx\xxxx.

I changed my mind and installed my system on D:\, and I want to import that registry file.

How can a batch COMMAND change that letter from C to D WITHOUT prompting me for anything?

Anytime I am on a site, such as GOOGLE, or anything that features a form with text boxes, odd things happen. Usually weird symbols will appear in the text box highlighted, then those symbols will turn into text, not complete sentences though. Is this a virus? How to correct it?Have you done the BASICS? Like update your AV and run it. That's the first step.

When I start up my PC sometimes the monitor stays in STAND by, never coming on, I disconnect and I get the no input signal. I tried a different monitor and the same happened. I tried a new video card and it seemed to FIX the PROBLEM but after a few start-ups back to the same old routine.Jason,

I've done a clean install of 98 Second Edition for a friend on a custom built PC. Unfortunatly I was doing a quick job and didn't choose to customise the installation (D'oh).  Now I cannot add items like Desktop THEMES, Games and wallpaper in the Windows Setup on the Add/Remove Programs Properties page.
  It has also cause me some trouble in installing the software for his sound CARD Ggrrrr! the installer asks for files off the Windows CD but when the disc is inserted it says that the file cannot be found.  I've tried searching the disc for the files but they must be LOCKED inside one of the cabinet files.  I have downloaded the latest software for the sound card so I will be trying them first.
  Has anyone had similar Windows setup trouble and if so COULD they please shed any light on the subject? If it comes to it I will re-install Windows again but I'd rather learn more about the system.

I have made a virtual DRIVE using the SUBST command in a batch file. The
problem is on booting up a command window is always left that shows the contents of
the virtual drive. We have to close this manually. Is there anyway to get
this window to close on its own or not open at all? I have tried using the
EXIT command and creating a SHORT cut to the batch file where I check the
box to close on exit. This MAKES the DOS window of the batch file close but
not this virtual drive content window. Any help WOULD be appreciated because
it's annoying. Thanks.

Hello, I am having problems with a Dell intel pentium 3 with windows 2000 pro. I have been frying to format the harddrive so I can go back to my windows 98se in which I have no problems. Could someone please tell me how to do it without having to buy a new harddrive? Thanks ever so much.You have to delete the partion before your can format. 2000 uses a different FILE system (NTFS) than 98(fat32). You can do this by using the disk utility on the Win 2000 setup disk or using FDISK (on any win98 CD).  Once in Fdisk delete the current non-DOS partion and CREATE new DOS partion (FAT32). Then insert win98 CD and format and run set up.Thank you very much SCOTTY, I was at odds as to how to FIX my computer as I am on a borrowed one now. Thanks again.

When booting I receive the windows loading bar, the screen then turns blue and the HARD drive stops. After about 4 minutes the hard drive starts to move snd EVERYTHING comes up OK. It used to take 1 minute to book now it takes 5 minutes. Any reason the boot would CHANGE from ONE DAY to another?

On my other computer, it does not allow me to run many programs because of a missing .dll file which I stated on the subject.  I have DOWNLOADED it and saved it on a floppy disk then installed it to my other computer, yet it STILL says that I am missing the file.  In exact words it says "AXTimer: woal.exe-Unable to Locate Component." Then it says right underneath "This application has failed to START because MSFW32.dll was not found. Its a Hewlett Packard Celeron. And also, when I get the error message, it tells me that MSVFW32.dll was not found, so it must be that .dll file that is missing right?

i get 4 lines of drive name c:\ c:\ c:\ c:\ and nothing next to the "C:\All of the lines you posted SEEM to be fine. Some suggestions we would make is to first make sure there are no blank lines at the end of your autoexec.bat file. In addition you can add add:

echo off

To the first of the autoexec.bat so nothing is echoed to the prompt. FINALLY if these recommendations do not HELP because this issue is more of an annoyance you may wish to consider adding:.

cls

To the end of your autoexec.bat to clear the screen each time you boot the computer.

hello i RECENTLY purchased and installed adobe PHOTOSHOP 7.0 and i was using it when i discover i cannot FIND the paint can tool icon...i am new to this so MAYBE i am over lookin how to put that icon in or how to access it, any help would be greatly aprectiated
