Solve : Help with win 10 to win 7? |
Answer»

Ok so, my desktop has win 7 and it doesnt have a wifi card and the router is too FAR away to plug it in. I am trying to use my win 10 laptop to share the wifi through an ethernet cord, But when I BRIDGE the connections from the wifi to the ethernet on the laptop and plug it in my desktop it takes a few seconds to recognize and then pops up a message "Windows has detected an IP address conflict", "Another computer on this network has the same IP address as this computer." then talks about contacting an admin about this issue. I have no idea how to fix this. After closing out this message the internet works for a couple sites, mainly you-tube, but most others say 'ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED'

Desktop: http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c03141285
Only difference is smaller hard drive and 8 gb of ram.
Laptop: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03898001
Only difference is 8 gb of ramYou would be better off just using ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) versus a bridge.
How would i go about doing that?Get a long cord or get a Wi-If USB thing.
About $10 by mail or even at some local stores.
From my experience, they all work about the same.
From Amazon:
Edimax-EW-7811Un-150Mbps
Before proceeding, you need to undo the bridge first.

On the laptop.
Go to the Network Connections screen → Right click on the Wireless Network Adapter → Select Properties → Select Sharing Tab → Check both Boxes → Click on SETTINGS → Check the Options needed (HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, ETC...) Solve : Prepare to do a lot of tweaking? |
Answer»

I upgraded my Win 7 to Win 10, and like everything new, one has to do some tweaking...some are EASY and some are really off the wall. As an example, I could not get any sound, even though Windows and Device Manager SAY all is well. After doing some research and reading pro and cons on how to get the sound back for a couple of hours, I gave up. Apparently, whatever tweaking I did, I got my sound back. I do not know how I did, but its back. Second, in my start setup, one of the boxes showed in the weather square the temperature for Washington,DC. Again, more research, more time wasted, I FINALLY got my state into the box...so that is what I MEAN by my subject title...prepare for a lot of researching and tweaking. Other than that, I like Win 10...so far...once I get pass the researching and tweaking.Jumping from Win 7 to Win 10 is more difficult than jumping from Win 8.1 to Win 10, in my opinion. For example, if you had become familiar Win 8.1 before moving to Win 10, you would probably have been familiar with the weather app.

I'm guessing the sound problem was driver-related, and that you either finally got it resolved without clearing understanding how that happened, as you basically stated, or that Windows finally resolved the driver issue, perhaps after some restarts. Of course, this type of problem will differ for users of systems with other hardware components, i.e. different brand/manufacturers.

| |

Solve : Why can I see the Windows 10 drive in Windows 7? |
Answer»

Hi all,
Recently I bought a new SSD.
I installed Windows 7 first in the first partition (40GB), and then Windows 10 in the other partition (80GB).
Then I was learning how to use the new features in Windows 10 without switching to Windows 7 during the Dual BOOT.
When I was USING Windows 10, I could only SEE one Drive (C), there was not any other parition.
But some strange things happened when I chose to use Windows 7 in the Dual Boot.
After I logged on Windows 7 and double clicked My Computer, I could see there were TWO main drives (C and D drives)
The C drive surely was for Windows 7 because of its volume (40GB), and D Drive was 80GB. When I clicked to see what's iniside the D drive, I could see a Windows folder and a Windows.old folder, and some other folders.

I have no idea why this happened.
Could you help me please?

Thank you.

Just leave it alone. Unless it creates a problem.
When you install a new version of windows, the OLDER version is saved.
You have lots of drive space. Right? If so, do nothing.
Quote from: Geek-9pm on February 01, 2016, 01:40:27 PM

Just leave it alone. Unless it creates a problem.
When you install a new version of windows, the older version is saved.
You have lots of drive space. Right? If so, do nothing.

Thank you for the quick help, Geek-9pm.
I was so worried about it because that was my first time learning how to make a Dual-Boot.The system will always designate the drive to which you boot (the system drive) as C: drive. If you installed W7 on c: and then installed W10 on d:, when you boot to W10 the system will change the designations so that it boots to what is now c: drive, but was previously d: drive when you were in W7.The Win7 install sees 10 because 7 is on the C:/1st partition...
When 10 was installed it is on another partition and does not recognise C: because in fact the PC is faked into thinking the 10 partition is in fact C:...when it's not.

| |

Answer»

Hey everyone, its been a month or two that i have been getting bluescreens, and they have become more and more frequent.

I am running windows 10 and this is my pc build:
http://nz.pcpartpicker.com/user/PinkCreeper/saved/yVkqqs

I got a few bluescreens when i was running windows 7. When I was updating to windows 10, i bluescreened mid-install every time.

So i did a clean install of the OS and am still having the same bluescreen issue on windows ten.

Here is also a photo of the bluescreens I get.
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/bllrrcojlvhyjhk/AACo_kFCc4QAGdiX0VGoBNMZa?dl=0

Thank you so much,
TriGaar

Is the motherboard updated with the latest BIOS?

Some AMD 970 motherboards need to be updated when using a Vishera CPU (FX-8350).
Actually states it on the pcpartpicker link.

It's worth updating the BIOS as Slacker says, but the variety of blue screens you're seeing would make me lean towards a RAM issue.
I'd download and run Memtest86+ (you burn it to a disk, or make a bootable USB from it, and boot from it) and LET it run for a few passes, perhaps overnight, and see if you get any errors shown.Download BlueScreenView:
http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html
unzip DOWNLOADED file and double click on BlueScreenView.exe to run the program.
when scanning is done, go to EDIT - Select All
Go to FILE - SAVE Selected Items, and save the report as BSOD.txt
Open BSOD.txt in Notepad, copy all of the content, and paste it into your next REPLY

| |

Solve : Suspicious .tmp? |
Answer»

Hey so first TIME I ACTUALLY found a "problem" with my PC that I can't seem to be ABLE to find a fix for. My problem is that after resetting my PC and installing a bunch of PROGRAMS and stuff that I needed, I opened up the Task Manager to manage which programs should Startup when turning on my PC. When I clicked on that tab, I noticed something that hadn't been there before the reset.
I will upload a picture of it. My problem basically is that 1. I don't know what this is and I'm paranoid. and 2. I can't open file location or properties on it, thus I don't know how to delete it.

EDIT: Also, sorry if this is in the wrong section of the forum, didn't really know where it should belong.

[attachment deleted by admin to conserve SPACE]Hi Booolleeet, your attachment is showing up on my computer as the Driver and Software for a MUvi Go pro mini camera. This is a common malware infection vector- executables get downloaded to the temporary or appdata folders with random names, and then get registered to run at startup.

From the sounds of it, the file has since been deleted- perhaps by any anti-virus or malware solution you may have installed. It probably would be prudent to run more exhaustive scans or perhaps visit the virus/malware section of this forum, just to put your mind at ease The poster fixed the problem with AdwCleaner.

| |
