Answer»

My 6 year old son is geting pretty good with the computer, but he did something that I have no clue how to repair. When I start up the system it goes through the normal process, I login, but all that COMES up is my desktop wall paper (No desktop icons, tool bar, nothing!!) I hit clt + Alt + del to see the status and all that is running is Explorer and SOFT. So I shut down and restart in safe mode. When safe mode is running the system works and I can see all of my desktop, so I KNOW it has not been completly deleted. This is realy strange and I have not encountered this before.

How do I restore my system???

Thanks for your help!!!Sounds like he deleted some Windows files.... Let this be a lesson... NEVER leave children alone with computers... Although you think that he is computer LITERATE, he is too youg... Once he hits the age of 12, then I say that he could be computer literate...

[glb]Flame[/glb]yes, u want to be seing explorer AND systray, systray is your taskbar and start button (very important) ask your kid if he delete anything or if he went into your harddrive, ( you can download a free program from microsoft called
"tweak UI",
that will allow you to hide "my computer","recycle bin, and such...No, I don't think he deleted anything. There are settings in Windos XP that let you hide all the icons and the taskbar.
If you press on Windows key, does the start menu appear? Have you moved your mouse to the edges of the screen, perhaps the taskbar is set to "hide"? Move your mouse right on the edges of the screen, like you want to put the mouse out of the screen.
Right click on your desktop works?

| |
