Solve : DVD Writer in WIN98SE? |
Answer»

Hello there everybody!
I need a little help: My Pioneer DVD writer is listed in EXPLORER as DRIVE D, it's also recognized in DOS mode, but Windows doesn't show CD-ROM controllers in Device Manager and sees this drive as CD-ROM READER only.
I do not know what to do to have Win98SE read and write on CD's. And what's more, when I try to make a virtual CD-ROM drive with a program called FastCD, the vitual drive replaces the D drive and the normal CD-ROM drive disappears.
Can anyone tell me what's going on with my installation of Win98SE?
Thank you so much for any help.
sds
sfalconHello sflacon! Here's what I WANT you to do.... Go back to your device manager, find the Pioneer Drive, right-click on it, and hit update drivers. (Make sure that you are on the internet when doing this). If this does not solve your PROBLEM, then go to pioneer's website and download drivers from there. Let us know what happens...

[glb]Flame[/glb]what happens if you unistall fast cd..........does your dvd drive come back......the cd side........conflict of programs maybe........Thank you guys for trying to help!
The Pioneer DVD drive doesn't show in Device Manager (Win98SE did not recognize it!?!), only the DOS mode can
"see" the drive.
I have been to Pioneer's site to download the driver, but when I try to execute the exe file, it advises me that the device (the DVD-ROM) is missing!? Because Win98SE refuses to "see" it.
I tried to uninstall the program FASTCD, then the CD drive appears as letter D (but only a CD drive, instead of a DVD drive as it should) and in the Device Manager there's no mention to it.
However, if I put a CD into the drive, I can see the files in Explorer and even copy them. Then if I reinstall FastCD, the letter D is assigned to the virtual drive and no CDROM drive anymore.
Thank you again for worrying about this issue.

rgds
sfalcon
try deeper burner......for dvd......cloning..

| |
