Solve : os reinstall problems - Invalid System Disk? |
|
Answer» Im trying to install 98 on my old computer. So I use the windows 98 setup cd and format the hard drive, after that it tells me to restart. I restart, boot from setup cd and it does a routine check on the system. After that it tells me to remove any floppy disks from the drive and restart. So when I restart and boot from the cd it says it has to do another routine check, after the check it tells me again to remove any floppys and restart. Its going in circles. If I boot from the hard drive I get the "Invalid System Disk" error. Also the computer just wont boot from the boot disk. If you can get an A:> from the floppy, type: dir to verify sys.com is located on it, if it is, then type Sys C:I can't get it to boot from the floppy. Just shows a black screen... And for some reason, today I cant even get it to boot from the cd either. It says the os is missing. the HD is an IBM DJNA-371350 E182115 HG, and I was wrong its only 13.5GB. As for the other question, Im not sure.If you need a new copy of the boot disk, try this site: http://www.allbootdisks.com/download/98.html You will need a working PC, internet connection and a blank floppy.I pretty sure I dont need a new copy of the boot foppy (I ACTUALLY have two copies) but I will stow that link away in a safe place in case I need it in the future... |
