Im trying to install 98 on my old computer. So I use the windows 98 setup cd and format the hard drive, after that it tells me to restart. I restart, boot from setup cd and it does a routine check on the system. After that it tells me to remove any floppy disks from the drive and restart. So when I restart and boot from the cd it says it has to do another routine check, after the check it tells me again to remove any floppys and restart. Its going in circles. If I boot from the hard drive I get the "Invalid System Disk" error. Also the computer just wont boot from the boot disk.

Ive been doing some reading online and Microsoft's solution is to use the sys command. I followed the directions but ALMOST every command i write gives me a "bad command or file name" error. The only command that seems to work is fdisk...

any ideas? Details please.
Make and MODEL of computer.
What CPU?
How much RAM?
What type and size of Hard Drive?
Are you using a real Windows 98 boot floppy?

yes real windows 98 boot floppy.Win98 bootable CD and/or Win98 bootable floppy disk?Ive got real copies of both.If you can get an A:> from the floppy, type: dir to verify sys.com is located on it, if it is, then type Sys C:Let's suppose two more details.
It is Windows 98. Not 98SE.
You have not pined the drive to force smaller size.

Original windows 98 can not install properly on large drive.

What is the model of the Hard Drive?
Does it have an option for use in a system that does not work with DRIVES?
