Answer» Hey EVERY ONE I am haveing a problem with one of my computers. every time when it starts up, a window pops up and says
Msgsrv32 module KERNEL32.DLL AT 0167:bff7b992
Thats not what it says word 4 word but thats the main part of what it says. after that nothing loads. the only thing i can do ctrl+alt+del.
Does any one know anything i can do to fix it. How about some info on the machine and what preceeded this? Can you BOOT to Safe Mode and do a System Restore to a time before this happened? It does the same in safe mode. I THINK i know how to fix it. the problem is with the kernel32.dll . i need to reinstall it through dos mode. i have the dll on a floppy. the only thing is i DONT know what the correct command is to install it from a floppy in dos mode. You will have to boot with a Win98 start up disk and then type in:
copy a:\kernel32.dll c:\windows\system
and press enter. Now restart the machine. Does that work?
Please note that the above must be typed in EXACTLY as shown, spaces and all.I cant find the floppy with the dll. i would just make another floppy but the cmputer i am useing now does have a flopppy drive. it does have a cd-rw . is it possible to do the same with a cd and just change the a:\ to d:\ If you use a boot disk the CDROM may be identified as e:, so experiment with that. It should tell you as it starts to boot. If you copy from a CD it will have the attributes set as a read only file, but this might not be a bad thing.
