Answer» Is there a way to upgrade a Windows 98 system to be ABLE to view the new VERSION pdf files? I have Adobe Acrobat 5 & their website tells me I can't go any higher with Windows 98.
Gateway G6-400 Windows 98 Intel Pentium ll Processor 256MB RamDLoad and install Foxit Reader....FREEI installed the Foxit Reader & still can't view pdf files on website's. It works fine for the files on my COMPUTER but on a website all I get is the little box in the upper left hand corner just like Acrobat. What version of FoxIt did you install? Only versions below 3.0 are 98 compatible. Thanks for the help!
I installed version 3.0 & it work's now. There was no prompt to re boot so I didn't when I should have. It seems to have SLOWED down my computer a great deal though. Would I be better off deleting the 3.0 version and dropping down to a lower version?Normally, it shouldn't be running in the background. As I said, ver. 3 is not listed as Win 98 compatible. Try version 2.3: http://www.filehippo.com/download_foxit/4658/Removed 3.0 & installed 2.3 as suggested. Work's fine now. I think the Ask toolbar that came with the newer version may have been what slowed everything down.
Thank you! You're welcome It's always important to perform custom installation, so you can UNCHECK any unwanted "drive-by" installations.
