Solve : Windows 98 problem, web page not available?

Answer»

I have a computer that I am setting up for my DAD. I downloaded Netzero for his browser. EVERY TIME i log in and go to the home page for netzero, it COMES up web page not available- hawk communications. I used to have hawkk for an ISP, but as far as I can tell I deleted it from my computer. I can't get any home page to display. Any help would be appreciated...thanksCan you connect to the Internet at all?I can connect to netzero but because of hawk communications , it won't display my home page or any other page for some reason. What is Netzero and what type of software have you installed for NetHawk?netzero is a ISP , And i don't have hawk communications no more. it was also a ISP. I can't find anything on the computer with that name except this web page unavailabe.I also have netzero as an ISP. When I sign in it goes to netzero home page, no problem. when i sign on my dads computer it goes to web page unavailable-hawk. so what i think its doing is trying to find the web page thru hawk instead of netzero. so how do i get rid of hawk? Are they both cable Internet providers or Phone line providers?

What type of software have you installed that belonged to the ISP and then removed?

phone line supliers, and I don't remember what software i had. as far as i know it was all deleted from that computer.Did you also remove the dial up entries under the Modem SECTION in the configuration menu?

You may also wish to reset IE to its default settings. I can not give you precise steps as my Windows 98 system is currently disconnected.

May wish to try an alternate browser such as Mozilla Firefox which I definitely recommend as a replacement for IE.ok thanks for your help. I'm pretty smart when it comes to this, but this one has me annoyed...thanks againHas resetting IE or removing the dial-up entries for Hawk Com. worked?I can't do it here, i have to go to my dads to see. any other suggestions before I go?If you can put together a list of the actions you have taken so far, the posters here may be able to think up something you could have missed.
