Solve : win 95 CD drive not recognized?

Answer» <html><body><p>I have an old HP (266Mhz, <a href="https://interviewquestions.tuteehub.com/tag/288m-299735" style="font-weight:bold;" target="_blank" title="Click to know more about 288M">288M</a> RAM) that I reformatted the HD and reinstalled Win95 on.  It won't recognize the CD drive.<br/><br/>I downloaded a Win95 boot disk that WILL make it recognize the CD - used that to run win95 setup again.  <br/><br/>After running setup again, then rebooting from HD, I get a lenghty error message that says multi-function device (Std Dual PCI IDE Controller) has some child devices using 32-bit <a href="https://interviewquestions.tuteehub.com/tag/drivers-21170" style="font-weight:bold;" target="_blank" title="Click to know more about DRIVERS">DRIVERS</a> and <a href="https://interviewquestions.tuteehub.com/tag/others-588141" style="font-weight:bold;" target="_blank" title="Click to know more about OTHERS">OTHERS</a> using <a href="https://interviewquestions.tuteehub.com/tag/compatibility-2553" style="font-weight:bold;" target="_blank" title="Click to know more about COMPATIBILITY">COMPATIBILITY</a> mode drivers.<br/><br/>It's an NEC CDR-273 CD, and I have CDR273.exe as the driver, but havent put it on C:\windows or <a href="https://interviewquestions.tuteehub.com/tag/tried-7272297" style="font-weight:bold;" target="_blank" title="Click to know more about TRIED">TRIED</a> to use that file in autoexec.bat or config.sys....<br/><br/>Seems like this should be an easy one, but I've been chasing it 3 days now.  I can get to the CD (but not Windows) from a Win95 disk, but not from Win95 on the HD...<br/><br/>Help?? Thanks in advance!!</p></body></html>
