Infrared is not a wireless network card. Infrared can be used to communicate with some devices, but unfortunately it is not a wireless network card. You may still be able to add a wireless network card to the older laptop if there is a PCMCIA SLOT that functions.you sure It says it searching for wireless internet/networksI'm sure.Quote from: comda on April 27, 2010, 10:23:35 AM

you sure It says it searching for wireless internet/networks

This just means it's looking for any other devices trying to communicate via IR. the OS sees it as a network device so it might get confused and display the state wrong.like what kind of devices? It's searching for network and wireless devices that it's not finding.example of infrared devices: bluetooth and remote....Quote from: dlx on April 28, 2010, 01:27:35 AM
example of infrared devices: bluetooth and remote....

Put down the crack pipe buddy.

IR is not Bluetooth.
