Good evening willyobiker and welcome to CH

I do have a couple of questions and I am not trying to be a wise guy

Your GX270 is this the reg size TOWER or there small form factor?

Are you sure the copy of XP you have is 64 bit? for those PC's most were 32 bit XP Pro and home.

I checked dell's site and they do have drivers for XP but DO NOT define 32 or 64 bit because for a 64 bit OS (any 64 bit OS) you must use 64 bit drivers and the same holds true for 32 bit.

Is the XP disk you have a "Dell" disk or is it a OEM or "RETAIL" etc.

Hope to hear from you soon, sorry on the delay I did not see the post. Mike Is it a newly installed OS? Do you see any flags on device manager? Go to Dell website, download and install the correct realtek driver for your XP system. Right-click My Computer and choose Properties to check on what is your current XP system(32/64).
