Solve : Your favorite Windows OS: 98 - XP(Vista not included)? |
Answer»

Makes sense to me.
I built a computer for my Step Father a few years back. AMD Athlon 1900 if I recall. I tried to load 98se on it and had nothing but problems. (he was trying to save money) Went to XP and it has been running strong ever since.

I liked 98se, but I found I had to reboot every couple days to clear the memory. I like XP, and I have Vista on my laptop and like it also.OH Joy...another Poll.Didn't you vote for Win 2K several times, already? Not this time...

But thanx for remembering !Oh, change of heart?Yes as a matter of fact...i seem to be spending 90% of my time on this buggered install of Vista.
How it got so bad i'll never know...Don't blame me. All Vista tweaking programs, you volunteered to download, and try....heheheQuote from: BRONI on March 23, 2008, 08:38:21 PM

Didn't you vote for Win 2K several times, already?

no i only voted once.My comment was for patio...LOLAlthough I despise Windows, and am glad to have it off my computer, I would say 2000. It's up to date, doesn't have the WGA virus, or Windoze update, or Palladium AKA Treacherous Computing, and doesn't use your entire RAM+swap, and has less (though still QUITE a few) security problems. 98 is just plain too old, not to mention constant BSODs.Quote from: linuxlover on March 24, 2008, 05:27:33 PM
98 is just plain too old, not to mention constant BSODs.

You are correct Mr DATA, Not to mention the lockups due to 'illegal operation'.Can you explain what (still quite a few ) security issues may exist ? ?Quote from: Broni on March 20, 2008, 07:33:24 PM
Windows ME must be the worst OS ever.

I've used Windows ME before and the only problem I've got with it is a virus that McAfee doesn't want to get rid of. I do want to install AVG Free Edition, but it has no internet connection.

I most people hate Windows ME so much.

Then again, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, right?i agree fully i mean who would load XP onto a 486 Computer, so personally here how i determine wat os should be loaded onto the sys depending upon the amount of ram and the speed & type of proccesor.

If you want to run Win 98 or Win 98SE i personally would want to run it on a comp with these specs:
Pentium 2
with 64MB of RAM

for Win 2000 and XP, i pesonally would want to run it on a comp with these specs:
Pentium 3 or higher(Win 2000), Pentium 4 or higher(Win XP)
with 256MB(For Win 2000), 512MB(For Win XP)

llmeyer do you agree with this as well?

| |
