I've just migrated from an older laptop that had Adobe Acrobat 11.0 on it.
Since that's well past it's support, I'm looking for something to replace it, and Adobe's solutions are not it because I don't want a subscription solution.

None of my attempts to get support from Telegram Desktop ELICIT any response, so I'm trying generalised forums like this one instead. I have two issues with Telegram Desktop - one is a malfunction, and another is a serious inconvenience. I will DEAL with the malfunction first :

Generally I can paste images from the Windows Clipboard without any fuss, but at times Telegram stubbornly turns my 'photo' into a file - so I PRESUME an 'attachment'. I'd like to know the cause of this so I can rectify it.

The inconvenience is related to the FACT that the emojs/gifs/stickers 'popup' is hyper-sensitive to mouse cursor movements and prone to appear frequently, in the PROCESS obscuring the thread of the Chat; and because I do not use them AT ALL, I'd like to be able to disable that tool altogether.

Hello, I have recently purchased a Wacom One input tablet. This is working with Windows Ink okay. I want to use it with Serif DrawPlus X5. This works for about 5 minutes then DrawPlus just freezes (not repsonding). DrawPlus X5 is quite an old release and I am wondering if I need to use an older driver. My OS is Windows 10. Any ideas?USING an older driver is worth trying. Also PERHAPS try running DrawPlus 5 in a Windows compatibility mode. If neither of those suggestions WORK, I don't think there would be too much else you can do. As said, DrawPlus 5 is an old program (released in 2000) and it might just down to it being too old to work with a modern tablet and/or operating system.

I appreciate wanting to stay with DrawPlus. It is a good DRAWING program and a pity it has been discontinued. It is still possible to find later versions (Amazon sells version X6 for around £10) and this might work better.

I have DrawPlus X8 working with an old Wacom Graphire drawing tablet (ET-0405-U) and these work OK with Windows 10.Yes, most Wacom compatibility issues can be solved with older drivers, I don't know why, but there's always some time between the IMPLEMENTATION of new drivers and full compatibility with all Windows versions.

I have a laptop with 512SSD. I done a partition and made a Drive D (windows 10) then I TRIED to install Adobe softwares ( Photoshop, Lightroom, premier pro) to the new drive D , but even after I changed the INSTALLATION location still the software is installing to the C drive!and I tried uninstalled and tried 2 TIMES, still same result

With REFLECT and ToDo you can VERIFY the image...TAKES LONGER but WELL worth it...

I synced my GMAIL account with MICROSOFT outlook 2019.
I no longer want to use Microsoft Outlook.

If Outlook was set to pull all messages from your Gmail account to Outlook, those messages pulled to your computer cannot be restored back onto the Gmail SERVER. Is there anything I should do in either gmail or outlook to unsynch it.If you're not planning on using Outlook I'd remove the Gmail account from Outlook to prevent it from connecting to your account again. Other than that, nothing should be required.

Also, there are settings in all e-mail clients including Outlook that allow you to keep the mail on the server so it's not moved off of the server and onto computer. This would allow you to READ all mail on both your local computer and on Gmail if that is something that interests you. However, most people don't like this option because you'd have to do an action such as DELETING an e-mail on Outlook and on Gmail.

This only cropped up a WEEK ago. When I try to OPEN Facebook, all that happens is a tab opens on the MENU bar with a little.dot going back and forth. It goes on forever and never TIMES out or shows an error. The only thing related to Facebook that opens is messenger. Can someone tell me a way to solve this problem?

I'd LIKE to add some more MUSIC to an old Walkman. Lost Soni Stage when upgrading from Windows XP but a google search brings up SEVERAL links to a Windows 10 version. However none of them work - can anyone help? The Sony Walkmans on Windows 10 show as a usb drive. So you can copy and paste in windows explorer. I have attached a screen SHOOT of my Walkman under windows 10 so you don't really need the Sony software .

I have GITLAB set up in a Docker container and the container is now restarting itself after a server restart. I have tried to PULL a latest VERSION and older version of GitLab but still no LUCK.
This is a bit hard to troubleshoot in the container.

I have files of various formats (pdf, ppt, doc, etc) that won't open because they're "...unsupported file type or have been damaged". I don't know why they're damaged....they were all originally on other computers (which I don't have any more) so possibly in the process of backing up. I'm on W10 now but the original computers were W7 & some might've been from XP machines, I don't remember for sure (some of the files are nearly 20 years old).

I've tried free applications like Piriform's Recuva but had no success. So, what applications would people recommend, please?

Also, does it matter that they've been transferred from ONE PC to another....will that effect the chance of successfully recovering/repairing them?

ThanksIf the files are showing with file names and extensions, DATA RECOVERY software will not help.

If there is a PDF which opens and one which doesn't when you do properties on the files are the they same ? Are the files which don't open kilobytes in size instead of megabytes as an example?
If they are only Kilobytes it is unlikely they copied. Only a short cut to the file or the file name. In which cause the file contents wasn't copied and nothing now can be done.

There is a recovery program which would give a lot more information on the files called Reclaime https://www.reclaime.com/
When it does a deep scan of the drive it has a viewer for most file types and if it can't display the file it will show the Hex data which you may be able to use to repair the files.
There is online file repair tools if you google PDF repair , doc repair which maybe worth trying.

I have a question for you since I've decided to move to AMD and change all my PC.
How can I transfer my W10 disk system with my files and programs (200Gb on classic Sata SSD) to a fresh new PC (new MOTHERBOARD, new AMD processor, new M2 Nvme disk which is totally blank)? Should I install W10 on the new PC first and restore via Windows tool? Or is there a simpler way?

Thanks a lotThe first issue you have is activating windows on the new PC. You can try ENTERING the same product key you used before (see link below), but this may fail if you have an OEM license that isn't meant to migrate to new hardware. You can try the activate-by-phone option, THOUGH, as sometimes that will succeed when online activation fails.

As your hardware on your new PC is completely different than the old one, if you were going to do a clone of everything to different metal you would need a paid version of hard drive backup software to do it - I have tried it with a free version and it just doesn't work.

You will appreciate your new COMPUTER more with a fresh install of Windows 10 20H2, as it will be much more responsive and snappy without all the old drivers & clutter dragging it down, doing a clone you would end up with thousands of files that do not need to be there.

You can put your old drive in your new PC temporarily to transfer documents, photos, music etc, just back up everything you can first such as bookmarks / favourites and passwords on your old PC before you take the drive out.

My sister recently BOUGHT a new laptop which came with MS Office installed. She has not ACTIVATED it because it is ASKING for a £50 (about $60) registration fee, so she has been out and bought a cheaper MS Office (and it's a later version). What is the procedure, please, to remove the MS Office that came with her laptop and then install the later version, or allow the version of Office that the laptop came with to just 'sit in the background' AND install the newer version?

And I answered the second question which was 'will it uninstall the older version automatically', which is yes, so they don't need to worry about removal

Also it may be that the version she bought has less features in it, or be Microsoft 365 which is cloud based, and some people prefer everything to be local. If you tell them just outright to uninstall it before trying the new one, they lose the possibility of going back to the original.

No matter what program I am using, no matter if I use the keyboard or right click my mouse, I can never copy text. I ALWAYS get a screen capture/printscreen instead. Is there any way of stopping this BEHAVIOR? Does anyone know what may be causing this?

Something similar has happened periodically on other machines. The first time I would copy and PASTE, I would get some sort of graphic, but usually the second try I got the text. On my home PC using Windows 7 Home Premium, it is a screen capture 100% of the time. At first I thought my clipboard was malfunctioning because when I tried to paste copied text, nothing happened. Now I think it was taking screen captures which won't paste into certain fields.

The only program I have installed that has a screen capture function is PaintShop Pro 4 (I think).

This is driving me InSaNE.

Thanks!What are you using to Copy/Paste?Please explain exactly how you are doing the copy and paste actions. Are you using keyboard shortcuts? If so, what are they? If you are using a mouse, exactly how? And is PaintShopPro running in the background ? ?I am in Word or Notepad or Chrome or Explorer or any other program I have USED. Last night, it did it with a CAD map-making program.

I use ctrl C and ctrl V or I click and highlight and drag over text with my mouse and then right-click to copy from the drop-down menu. It lets me "copy" but when I go to paste 1) I don't have the OPTION from the drop-down menu OR 2) after I do it nothing appears OR 3) I paste in a screen capture instead of the text I thought I copied. It is like my copy function has been rewritten to become solely a screen capture.

And No, the PaintShop program is not running in the background, but I will double-check to make sure when I go home tonight.

I downloaded a program last night that tested opening and closing my clipboard and supposedly that is functioning okay.

I think the problem is being caused by my custom icons/theme. I removed the theme successfully but I have been unable to revert the icons BACK to default. I have tried running sfc /scannow but it fails at 12% in the verification phase. I also ran DISM and CHKDSK but neither seemed to do anything. I have deleted iconcache.db and removed a previously made registry edit to get rid of the shortcut arrows on the desktop icons, but nothing is working.

Then bring your data back to a clean build. The system seems to have had items installed and removed and orphan entries remaining for Avast etc.You need to free up more space on your hard drive 20Gb free is not enough space for windows update to store a rollback to an earlier version.

I'm trying to log into an old blog of mine that I haven't used for a few years. It doesn't accept the password. I used my regular, everyday Hotmail account to set it up a long time ago. When I go through the recovery/forgot password procedure it sends a code to my email, after entering the code I get "Unfortunately Google couldn't verify that (email) belongs to you."
There are no other OPTIONS I can see, such as security questions or anything. It's certainly the right email because I have old email notifications of comments and such dating back years. I've tried Googling for a solution but it just leads back to the recovery procedure, so I'm going in circles.

I have installed Windows XP (virtual) on my Win 10 desktop PC using VirtualBox. This is what I can see with Windows XP Running:

When I click on Show along the top, I can then see this:

The message along the top says: FATAL: No bootable medium found! Sytem halted.

Is XP running then, or not? What I am hoping for is to see XP on my screen as if I were really using an XP computer with the 'feel' that XP had. How do I actually get into my virtual XP computer, please?

Just as if your physical machine was powered on with no disk to boot from.Oh, I see, thanks. I did insert an official MS XP (Home) installation disk in my CD/DVD drive and pointed VirtualBox to the SET Up (Application) FILE on the disk. Isn't that right? You say you pointed VirtualBox to the setup file but did setup actually RUN and go thru the installation process? A virtual machine is very similar to a physical machine in that you need to install the OS onto the boot disk before the VM can't boot.

You would need to have a bootable XP install disk in a CD drive or a bootable image (ISO) in order to install.I see that you said you had an XP Home disk in the CD drive. In Settings for the VM, you need to setup the DVD drive with the install disk in it on the Storage tab.

In the pic below, I added my D: drive (DVD) as a drive. With a bootable disk in the DVD drive, when you START the VM, it will boot from the install disk on proceed with the installation.

I am having a problem with my READING pane in MS Outlook. (using W10)

When I SELECT a reading pane option (usually to the right) I get the egg timer and the Outlook programme switches off. KEEPS on happening!

So I can SEE messages in my ‘Inbox’ and can open them, but I can’t see their CONTENT (before opening) in a reading pane.

I installed BCM (Business Contact Manager) on my PC yesterday. I have 2 accounts (mine & admin) but had to use my admin account to install it. Everything was fine, it installed perfectly & i added some of my contacts

Then this morning i LOG on as admin, and open BCM.. i can see all the contacts that i've added but when i try to ADD a new contact, i GET a msg saying

"The form required to view this message cannot be displayed. Contact your administrator"

Perhaps you donot require administrative abilities, you may have to reinstall the program or take a good look at the options provided.

When playing VIDEOS with CERTAIN file types the video will lag behind the audio. The file types I've noticed it on are the ONES with the extensions AVI and WMV (there are probably others). The MEDIA players I use are Windows Media Player Version 9 and DIVX Player. Please help!

Locate the DLL file, remember where it is...

Now REBOOT to Command Line (NOT 'Shut down to DOS', do a restart and tap F8 until the menu comes up and select 'Command line'). Navigate to the DLL's location (you're going to have to use the short 8.3 NAMES, like Program Files is progra~1, if necessary. Go exploring...). When you find the DLL in DOS, first ATTRIB -H -S -R library.dll, then either DEL library.dll or REN library.dll library.lld (preferably the latter, no Recycle BIN in DOS).

Reboot, and the DLL in question is deactivated (if you renamed it to LLD) or deleted. If the system takes a dump with it missing, now you know where to go change the extension back in DOS...

We do our backups on Travan 20/40 tapes WIT the Supplied TaoeWare software. Everything was working well for a while.....and then all of a sudden.Bam......problemo. Can't get TapeWare to do compression. BIG problem!
PLEASE can anyone help me?For Seagate or Connor tape drives, use Seagate website and download any updated drivers. Irwin has vanished. Most other manufacturers tape drive software may still be found on their current WEBSITES or in driver archive sites.

You may need to use a compression program like PowerArchiver and a UTILITY like TapeDrive that makes the tape drives look like big slow floppies, if the regular tape drive software is kaput or nonfunctional with your systems.

I know it got something to do with nVidia because after installing the latest drivers this is the message I got.
I know how to get rid of the message by going into regedit>local machine>SOFTWARE>Microsoft>windows>current version>run then deleteing it from the right pan but is this safe to do?I SUGGEST you remove the drivers you have INSTALLED, then proceed to reset and reinstall them.

You COULD use a program such as:

To fully remove your old drivers.If using XP (you failed to mention the OS btw) can you go back to a previous restore point? What about installing the drivers again.

My first choice for answers relating to Microsoft has always been Microsoft Community, at https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/. For a week or so however it's been unusable. I can type in my question, but the OPTIONS at the END designed to pinpoint the area of my CONCERN are mostly gone, and my question will not process. JeanFirst, make sure you aren't being stabbed with extension and file hiding.

In Windows Explorer, View (98) or TOOLS (XP) menu has Folder options. In Folder Options, open the View tab, and scroll to the radio buttons and check boxes labelled 'Hide system files', 'Hide registered extensions', and 'Hide system folders'. You want the radio button checked that says 'Show all files' and the checkboxes that say 'Hide extensions' and 'Hide system folders' UNchecked, regardless of Billy Gates's 'recommendations'. Then apply your settings, and HIT the button that says 'Apply settings to all Explorer windows' before closing the menu dialogue. Close and restart Windows Explorer to initialise the NEW settings.

You should now see an extension on that file, if it has one.

If it actually has no extension, you can try opening it with NotePad or another TEXT edittor to avoid accidentally running something UNDESIRABLE.

If you don't have an up-to-date virus killer, get one. Grisoft AVG Free Edition is good. Scan the file before opening it.

I have an issue concerning Puran file recovery.

I wish to recover data which was on a partition on an external drive, which has since been deleted. When set to deep and full scan there's no problem. When set to deep and full scan & find lost files, the progam runs for awhile and then SHUTS down.

The USB drive is probably sick. I would first check the drives health with HDsentinel if it is showing bad sectors then you should use software which can deal with this.
Or not run any software on the drive until you have a raw COPY to carryout the recovery on.
Can you run the HD sentinel TEST and post a scene SHOT of the health further advice.

The reason to check the hard drive health regardless of whether the drive is usb or not is to check the drive is healthy enough to support running Puran. If it checks out 100% health then it is not as I suspect that Windows 10 is dropping the drive off line because of poor health. You asked why you couldn't run Puran over the drive. I'm asking you to check the drives health, this is something you should do before running any data recovery software. What the test shows helps in deciding how best to carryout the recovery.

I’m using Blue-Ray discs to ARCHIVE information from my Laptop along with archiving several 2 TB & 4TB hard drives. Just below is a recap of my equipment, etc as recommended by this forum.

ASUS GAMING LAPTOP RUNNING:

512 SSD; 16 MB Ram, 1 TB HD

Main problem I’ve run into:
Image: [1] Even though image: [2] states: “Cannot add file” however ‘these’ 4 files were written & I did nothing to write them to the Blu-Ray disc. It seems contradictory, please explain the process if possible or did I do something wrong. I just went to Blu-Ray & am in the process of getting some re-writables.

About 20+ yrs ago I burned a lot of CD’s & DVD’s using “packet writing” software from a Batch File & everything worked fine.

I tried several Blu-Ray FORUMS to no avail, ran into some cattiwampus problems.

If you know any WEB sources that will help, just direct me rather than take the time to describe your self.

Programs need to be specially written to access files with paths longer than about 260 characters. This program presumably isn't, as those path names are longer than that.Do you mean the burning program that I used to bun the files to the blu-ray disc? It was BurnAware free v9.3. Ashampoo burning studio free produced the same problem.

I WONDER what option I supposed to use to CREATE an ISO image of my Win7 installation DVD. Seems like an IMGBurn program had been abandoned but I STILL like it (LAST update of IMGBurn was done in 2013).

Joanylis......when you say it crooked do you mean it has to be rotated one way or the other ?
open up pic in photoshop....Click on image on tool bar....
select ...rotate canvas..... select arbitrary ..........Rotate Canves box opens..... enter the amount to rotate in degrees and then select either CW or CCW and click ok...If that wasnt enough go back and repeat until you get it correct.

Now, on to the 2nd PART of that ??...please advise how I can change the background in a photo? For example GRABBING a background from a pic #1 and introducing it into pic #2? Joanylis......There are several ways you can do this......
If you take the pic with the foregound you want and change to a gif .....and set the background as transparent .....then layer via copy onto the background you want or you can use the magic wand tool and capture the part of the pic you want to transfer and then copy and paste where you want it .

Photoshop is a very complex program and the best way to learn is to play with it and read the tutorials

dl65 Thank you...I willprobably not needed....but....you can use the pen tool...turn it to the path tool.... and make a path around the part you want to crop then right click once youve MADE a full path and click make selection...after that you can cut out your selection relayer it and include it in other photos or whatever you wantHi, this may be a dumb question, but I cannot find the the filter in Adobe photoshop that does a nice job of CONVERTING a B&W to look more like a sketch. I did it once and it looked awesome and now I can't SEEM to find the right one again...any help from anyone would be great!

I have a Phrase Express phrase (a MACRO) to DIRECT the reader to the pertinent page in contacthelp.com, and another phrase to USE shift+alt+x for %20. Both phrases work fine *EXCEPT* when I try to use the second WITHIN the first. In other words, I can't use my %20 shortcut within the macro. I'm guessing there's a way to do this. What is it?

dl65 that HAPPENED to me on an older computer....I went through all explorer folders and manually deleted basically everything....I also had well over 30,000 files in just these few folders..... so my computer froze up and shut down a few times during the process...probably not a good idea to do this but it worked for me....consult someone else before you TRY this

One of the kids downloaded some free Sports Icons/SOUNDS yesterday !
This is now causing the computer to make crowd noises etc everytime I open something up !!
Can't find the program anywhere, can't see it installed in the Control Panel !
Can anyone advise how I could remove it ? What operating system are you using?

If it is for Windows XP follow these instructions:

Start -> Settings -> Configurationscreen -> Sounds and Audio devices

Then proceed to the sound tab (Second tab) and select either the no sound or Windows-standard option.

Or you can manually remove the soundfile by using the menu below.

I am using a localized version, some items might have been improperly TRANSLATED.
Neil.....Is ther an icon on the desktop or down in the lower tooltray on the bottom right ......if there is any sort of icon . right click on it and select properties and it may show you whereits hiding or try going to C drive ....
programs and see if there is a FOLDER called sport sounds or something like that .........

Your buttons might be named different or perhaps the path is a little shorter, but it should be nearly the same.

Neil .....Is it possible to look in the history file and see which site the crowd sounds came from .......or ask the kids ? It just may help get rid of it .......

dl65 if you know the name of the file or the kids can tell you, you can do a SEARCH for the file and delete it manually....
