Hi,
I have to computers which are connected together by a peer-to-peer network without any hubs.
I want to shut down one of them from ANOTHER one from command.com environment but the FOLLOWING function doesn't work: shutdown -m \\PC2
Pc2 is the name of the computer which MUST be shutted down.
I TRIED it by IP address to but it doesn't work.
how can I do that?!

Hi Guys, I personally LIKE to seed any DOWNLOADS I get, as a common courtesy to the people who shared them. I installed a new system and then tried to copy the utorrent seeds I was sharing into the new system , so that I could continue seeding and sharing them. Two of the seeds are in Red, and the rest are in green. I do not really know what to do. Any ideas please. Thank youRed seeding means one or more trackers is not working/OFFLINE. A tracker being offline can either be TEMPORARY or permanent. Unless the torrent is private, trackers aren't really necessary. Also, a well seeded torrent will start/download just as quick with no trackers.

Hello folks my apologies if I posted this in the wrong section because i'm not quite sure if this is a software or hardware issue at hand. I recently went to install Windows XP on a hard drive I had laying around because I wanted to play a couple older games no longer eligible to run on Windows 10 because of no more support for DRM/Safe Disk. So I plug in the spare drive and GO to boot off of my Windows XP disc, the initial setup starts but after a short while I receive the blue screen saying that my BIOS is not ACPI compliant. After searching around I read a few posts mentioning flashing BIOS to the latest version will do the trick. I successfully flashed BIOS and it did register the upgrade within BIOS but alas I still got the same BSOD. This is leading me to believe that either the MOBO or the processor wont support Windows XP installations? I just can't think of any other reason.

My specs:
Gigabyte x299 Aorus GAMING 7 Motherboard
BIOS - American Megatrends f9p, 11/19/2019 (Most recent update on Gigabyte's website
Intel Core i9-7900x CPU @ 3.30 GHz, 3312 Mhz, 10 Cores
BIOS Mode UEFI

The bios in this system is not fully ACPI compliant. ... If you are unable to obtain an updated bios or the latest bios supplied by your vendor is not ACPI compliant, you can turn off ACPI mode during TEXT mode setup. I do not have any good ideas about what to do. Windows XP doesn't support SATA drives out of the box. I'm not even sure if NEW motherboards still have IDE Compatibility modes for their SATA Host adapters, but you'll want to toggle it to IDE. EWither that, or install SATA drivers- which, simply won't exist for XP with a newer motherboard. You get strange errors if you are using SATA Drives.

You could try removing some memory to see if it will install with less.

When XP Setup is starting you can try forcing the use of the Standard PC HAL using F7 (not F6) when it prompts "Press F6 if you need to install a third-party SCSI or RAID driver"

however, I doubt even if you get it installed it will serve the purpose you want. Even if you do get it installed, you won't have any drivers, so it won't actually be useful for playing any older games.Hi

You are correct about your Motherboard and CPU not supporting Windows XP . If you want to run XP you would be better looking around for a older machine with XP support.

I created a form with MICROSOFT Word. Now, I want to make a submit button/text, that WOULD send the completed form via email to the correct employee. The program works perfectly, but is way too small, one nearly NEEDS a magnifying glass to READ the print, I tried a reinstall but it is still the same, Is there any way to make the DARN thing LARGER? Nothing I do makes any difference I am on a laptop with windows10 and would love to get a solution from some knowledgeable person. Huh, if the gui of the program is designed like that...you have bad luck. Or you COULD try with scaling (125% or more). But, doing that just for one program...? Or, try some other newer program (there are loads of them similar to photoscape)

I have seen APPLE's quicktime do slideshows of PHOTOS and see that you can integrate sounds into it --is there something like this for WINDOWS or do Ijust need to upgrade to quicktime pro?

I just bought an older version of Mind Your Own Business ACCOUNTING Software (Canadian version) off the internet. It was a brand new program but is from 1997. The company sold out around 2000 and the new company will not OFFER support or registration as of 2003. I need a "customer number" in ORDER to use the program, and now can't get one from the company . Is there anyway to bypass this registration number so that I can use the program? Doesn't make sense that it is garbage, especially when I paid $32.Canadian for it on Ebay.Considering it is from 1997 and the company that took over would not make any profit by giving you a so called 'Customer Number' it is logical.

dl65 Thanks for your help. The person I got it from on Ebay was trying hard to find me some help or else I'm sure he would have taken it back. It wasn't his fault. Anyway, I contacted the company that sells it now (MYOB US)several times and they finally were nice enough to give me a number to enter so that I can use it, but with no support or upgrades. I have been using MOZILLA COMPOSER to work on websites. I am actually trying to update existing websites. One of the sites uses frames. The one frame on the side that contains the menu does not scroll. So, depending on the resolution of the user's machine, he/she will not be able to view or select the bottom few menu links. I don't LIKE this, and would like to change it. I believe all I have to do is change the code to set the scrolling option to auto (the same setting as the frame that does scroll). The problem is that when I try to PASTE the frame code into the html part of the composer, the composer doesn't seem to understand, and just DELETES the code after I try to preview what has been entered. It is an ASP frame page, is there any way that I can change the frames settings with composer, or notepad.

klxdrtYes. Or, if you can open the word (program) normally, you set all the fonts etc and then SAVE it as dot file.

I have just checked and I have a older VERSION of Windows 10 on my lap the ONE I have at present is 20H2 and the latest version is 21HI
I have gone into settings then update and security and thought I had downloaded the software but it is still saying RESTART REQUIRED although I did restart it.It still says Feature update to Windows 10, version 21H1.Can someone say what I have done wrong if I have.Try with media update tool.

Hello everyone I believe this is more of a software than HARDWARE issue but if i'm wrong and posted in the wrong spot I apologize.

So I just finished setting up two Solid State drives, below are the specs on both:

Drive 1
WD Blue Solid State 1 TB 2.5 Form Factor
Installed with Windows 7 Ultimate 64
NTFS
In BIOS it appears as "P0WDC WDBNCE0010PNC"

Drive 2
WD Black Solid State PCIE M2 Form Factor
Installed with Windows 10 Home 64 Bit
In BIOS it appears as "WD_Black SN7502TB"

So when I am USING the WD Black (Windows 10) I can clearly see the Windows 7 drive listed in explorer. I can ALSO move files two and from the Windows 10 and Windows 7 drive freely. However when I boot onto the WD Blue (Windows 7) the Windows 10 drive is not listed in explorer. Is there a way to make this drive visible so I can freely move files back and forth as I can vice versa?

Something also to note, this is the following entries in the "Boot Override" section of BIOS
-P2 ASUS (DVD Drive)
Windows Boot Manager (WD_Black SN750 2TB) <----This is the WD Black listed for the first time
P0 WDC WDBNCE0010PNC <----This is the WD Blue Drive
WD_Black SN7502TB <----This is the WD Black Windows 10 Drive listed for the second time?!

I had this issue before and made a partition that is shared between 7 and 10 that is FAT32 to have 32GB shared space between the OS's similar to how to share data between Linux and Windows. If that works for you for 32GB of shared space that may be a solution. Other format that might work is exFAT between both but I havent tried exFAT the issue is that Windows 10 is foreign to Windows 7, yet if you add a format that both support you could go that route.Deoends on how you installed the OS's...had they been done seperate with only 1 drive present...which is the correct way to do it both HDD;s would be visible to each other...Quote from: patio on August 20, 2021, 03:28:21 PM

Another cause of windows 10 drives not showing in windows explorer is it is secured with Bitlocker.

I just booted to the Windows 7 drive and noticed this when I tried to enable BitLocker.

What exactly is meant by the TERM Real-Time Kernel and what function does it perform?As far as I can guess from your "context-less" message, I would believe that it would be the kernel of your operating system, which performs the basic TASKS of booting up your computer and some other basic commands before the rest of the operating system kicks into action.

Thanks Folklore. This RTK is being used on a WinNt BASED system of which MS BackOffice is the core OS for a number of different platforms. It seems that the RTK is FAILING and I didn't know whether to troubleshoot MS BackOffice or go on to the other Apps.

I have a 64 BIT Hp 15 laptop running windows 10. When I went to put my pin number in it said my number was not authenticated and went into hibernation.I got it started.(it started very slowly) now there's an orange light on the charging port. The BATTERY icon says it's plugged in and it seems to be charging but I still have orange light can anyone tell me what this is? I'm posting this in software because of the hibernation thing please let me know if I'm in the wrong fourm
Thanks Leave laptop charging for about an hour and then try again. If you end up with the same results and this laptop has ability to remove the laptop battery, remove laptop battery and start the computer with it CONNECTED to the charge cable power supply to see if it behaves BETTER without a battery present. If it runs better without a battery then the battery could be bad causing it to fail to run properly as its weighing heavily on the power supply and causing voltages to be low.

Hello Im a long time quake player with a new laptop Win 10 and cant get my game to connect to a server. I have tried the {seta net_master0 "192.246.40.28:27650"} in the config files, I have checked the permissions on the folders. the RESEARCH I've done says its a punk buster issue but I'm lost. Any help would be appreciated.

DavidPunkbuster has anti-CHEAT mechanisms to it, are you running a clean client or one that has cheats that Punkbuster is disallowing connections due to a positive detection for a game cheat in use? Punkbuster can also have false positives is no cheats are in place but its generally pretty good at positives vs false positives.I tried my original 4 disk install and it wouldn't EVEN let me into the game. I downloaded Q4 from a site and installed it all over again with punk buster from that zip file. I have not CHANGED anything other than what i found in the config files for troubleshooting. I dont know much about punk buster issues.

Is there a good known site to try another clean download from? I do have a network guy that I can ask for help if you have technical answers.

DavidLooking deeper... PB can be UNINSTALLED from the system. Maybe that's all you need is to remove it. my system has 256mb sd ram.when STARTING photoshop 7 it showsnot enough memory but all other programs working perfectlysha.....I use photoshop 7 all the TIME......occassionaly I will GET the message "Not enough memory" .....I just reboot and then Photoshop is just fine ( remember its a BIG PROGRAM)

I’m not sure if this is the place I need to be to get my question answered but here goes anyway. I’m having trouble with “Outlook Express”. I cannot keep the font size to stay when I write a ‘new MESSAGE’. I have GONE into, Tools, Options, Compose and Font Settings. I put in the Font, Font Style, and Size, but when I go to write a new message, it doesn’t DEFAULT to what I prefer. I’ve tried MANY times to CHANGE it but with no luck.Eddie....when you were in Tools/options/Compose .....and changed the font sizes in mail and news .....did you click APPLY and then OK down at the bottom ......

If so you will need a 2nd computer that is healthyand connected to internet to download the image to an external drive from Degoo Cloud then connect that external drive via USB to the system that your pushing the image to from Acronis I believe. I am not aware of a way to access Cloud STORAGE from Acronis when pushing an image to a system and I have always USED external drives or thumb drives for pushing images.Hi

You need Acronis True Image Advanced or Premium subscription to backup to cloud servers. If you have either of those versions any cloud server which Acronis can see will be shown as backup destinations. The cloud sever needs to be running as a service in windows. An example you may have a subscription to WESTERN Digital my cloud. This needs to be running when windows starts for Acronis to use it as a destination.

How to do it Step by Step?
Please Do you have a subscription for Acronis True Image Advanced or Premium. If you do then when you select backup it will show cloud SERVICES AVAILABLE to backup to.
If you don't have either of those 2 versions. Perhaps explain what you are wanting to do and someone could give a solution with a link to a tutorial. Please How to Do it Step by Step?

Transferred to my new SYSTEM when I got it in December. MS word 97 and EXCELL 97 are both missing FILES. MS word works after an error message that says some files are missing or damaged, but no spell check and other options. Says to run setup again, which I don't have on the disk from the old computer.

I have HP computer and run Windows 10. I run AVG Anti-Virus Free Version. Today my AVG when i click on it to update it, it disappears in 5 seconds? I have uninstalled and REINSTALLED it several TIMES. Does anybody know what i can do? Its got to be some LITTLE something as I restored a backup from August 8th and it still disappears?

I have a link on a website that GOES directly to a WORD document. The document is a form that users can print out, fill in, then send back. I have been trying to find a way to create a space where users can type in the information for the form, so they could download it, fill it in electronically, then email it. Now, when I try to type information into the form, items on the same line MOVE as if it were a REGULAR document. I know I have created documents for surveys that have a space that will allow the user to enter in his own information, however I cannot remember how I did it. How/Can I create an "answer box" without it affecting the rest of the words on the same line? Will I be able to make the changes without recreating the entire document?

About two weeks ago for no reason a problem started, every time I open a program I get a "run as" window. It asks me to either run as the current user or to switch to one of the other user accounts. I run win xp pro and I turned off secondary login and disabled it. It is not on. Also, at the same time outlook express decided to stop letting me connect to my email server. I scanned the computer with Norton and housecall, and nothing came up. Any ideas?What m$oft updates have you got?have a look in the event VIEWER log for more?WINXP logs everything..I got my email working, seems like my spam blocker was causing problems. It was changing the incoming server to a router ip address or something like that.

As far as I know, I have all the windows updates except for the service pack 1. I forget what day this all started, but I did notice that all of a sudden about the time this all started, in the event viewer, I get information events from a source "service control manager". I have no idea how it started, but somehow Windows Media Player started opening automatically as I startup my PC (Win Me). I tried the following, but WITHOUT any success:

- Removing the check in the System Configuration Utility (msconfig). This works, but always starts my PC in safe MODE. No way of CHANGING this BACK to normal mode without checking Media Player again.
- No mention of Media Player in win.ini or the Windows Registry.
- I even tried deleting the program (ADD or remove Windows components in the Control Panel). This didn't work either. The program turned out to be undeletable: it simply came back. In the end I tried deleting it manually, in the Windows Explorer. This did work, but six files (of which none was a .exe file) kept coming back.

In short: I cannot stop Windows Media Player from starting automatically, and the program turns out to be undeletable. Why?If WMP is launching at the start-up of your system, this is likely because of a trojan download shredder form merlin.org or spysweeper from webroot..disable system restore before you use these ok...
Thanks, that did the trick! Meanwhile I had already re-installed Windows, but that didn't work. Downloading Spy Sweeper and running it solved my problem, so thanks a lot for the tip.

Syed......I assume you are able to GET a Internet connection and SURF the web.......Is it possible you havent GOT the firewall feature of the router set up and its blocking "Outlook"

I have a computer that is running Windows 10 Home 64-bit that I'd like to access on my private LAN from other computers in my home so that I dont have to walk over to that computer and interact with it directly. When going to get the latest version of RealVNC I discovered that they no longer have a Non-Internet Connected Product and it now requires you to have the systems that are to be controlled connected to the Internet.

Anyone have any suggestions for a client/server REMOTE software that would work like RealVNC or PC Anywhere did?, where you can connect to other systems hosting the software on a private LAN that some systems aren't given a gateway connection to the internet for purpose of stronger security as well as able to control when Windows 10 updates by system not connected to internet until I manually set the static IP of it to the gateway IP vs redirected to its own IP.

Because all systems are Windows 10 Home edition and not Pro edition I dont have RDP as an option.You can re-enable Remote DESKTOP using this wrapper, might be worth a try.

I Installed A program that was trailware it let me use it for a few times then it would not let me use it any more, a message kept appering every time i tried to use it saying "you have used this program to many times without buying it and then it would CLOSE, I uninstalled it and reinstalled it,still saying "you have used this program to many times without buying it" Where is the hidden information for this program stored at and how do I remove it, In order to use the software again?1)Go to your local Best BUY and shell out the cash. Legal but perhaps expensive.

2)You could hunt through your registry looking for any INFO regarding the software in question but I wouldn't as the registry is kinda critical and if you don't know what you're doing you can cause major DAMAGE. Cheap but major danger.

3)Download the software (FULL version) from some file sharing app. Cheap but illegal.

I have never done Zoom before, but now need to participate in one. It is an informal family and FRIENDS meeting. I would like to have a slideshow played during the meeting, either at my end or at the host's end. I found this tutorial on showing PowerPoint slideshows for Zoom:

But my slideshow is not made with PowerPoint. I assume that such a slideshow can also be used for Zoom. For instance, can Step #1 in the above link "Open the PowerPoint file you want to present." be replaced with "Open the ANOTHER SLIDESHOW file you want to present."? Or is there another way?

Is this DOABLE, and how?You will see a red "share screen" button in Zoom. When you are ready, click on the button and choose the ITEM / app on your desktop that you want to share. It will appear in the middle of the screen and participants will be relegated to smaller windows (you will still be able to see them, and they you). When you start sharing the screen, the button will change to "stop sharing". Just click on that to RETURN to the original layout.

Hi, I am using a really old desktop from Acer and the model of the desktop I am using is Acer EMACHINE EL1860. However, I have a small problem with it when I want to format the desktop and install windows 8.1, the desktop had Windows 7 and that windows was the one that the desktop came with directly from the factory. Now I want to upgrade the Windows 7 to Windows 8.1, but everytime when I make a bootable USB with Rufus, I get a problem when I access the USB from the BIOS. The error that I get when I enter the USB is that one.


The error for the legacy BIOS: The error that I get "This media cannot boot in legacy mode"

The BIOS I am using: is called CAMOS UTILITY setting.

So, I need to know, is that problem from my dekstop or the USB I am using is not supporting the old BIOS? I would like to get a good answer that is not built from assumption.

How do I remove names from auto entry list? Whenever a field asks me to ENTER my name a list appears that not only contains my name but ALSO other names. For example, I was once looking to SEE if an old aquaintence had died so I entered his name in the social security death list. Now whenever I am filling out a form, and I'm asked for my first name, and I double click the field his first name appears along with mine. The same thing happens when I'm asked to fill in my last name; his last name appears in the list. Also, how do I remove items from a search list? For example, if I am SEARCHING the internet for something and I misspell an item--I do that a lot--that misspelled word remains in the list. How to set 'Detelecine' in the Handbrake's filters tab?

Handbrake 1.0.3, Win7.

I normally leave the 'Detelecine' at 'Default', which has given GOOD results for MANY years.

But, now I have a Blu-Ray with noticeable 'scan lines', that I can't SEEM to get rid of. Whoever 'mastered' this from the original film didn't do a good JOB of converting from 24fps to 30fps.

I've TRIED 'Default', 'Off', 'Custom' brings up a empty box...what are the options to enter there?

Are there any other options that I can try?

What is the recommended fax software that works well with Windows XP Professional?

'Cheyenne Bitware' ver 3.3 works well with Windows 98, and is able to distinguish between a normal incoming telephone call and a incoming fax.

By DEFAULT ,Windows XP Prof comes preloaded with 'FAX'. However, this software cannot make the above-mentioned distinction. When there is normal (voice) call, the fax software recognizes the call as a incoming fax, and opens the Fax Console which says "receiving fax ... ", which is a problem.
Any suggestions?

Trying to install Kontakt 6.3 - 32bit, sorry, that's what my VSTs are! - on Windows 10. It worked LIKE a DREAM on XP. Now, it gets nearly to the end and comes up with 'Can't Uninstall Old Version' and won't finish installing - thing IS, there IS no old version. I had Komplete Start, same company, so I uninstalled that, used CCleaner to clean the registry, restarted PC - same problem. It thinks there's an old version somewhere and it can't uninstall it.

Anyone got any ideas? One thing that's just occurred to me, might be a red herring, can you INSTALL stuff in emulation mode? If yes, and someone tells me how(!), could I INSTALL it in XP mode because it installed fine on XP.

I know it's 2 different apps in 1 post, which MAY be frowned on (if it is I'll redo the post, mods!) but I'm having a similar PROB. with a legit. Omnisphere. Again it's 32-bit, it worked fine on XP, it's INSTALLED here (I THINK!) but it's not coming up, it just says it can't find its libraries. Tried dragging'n'dropping instruments from its libraries onto it, no joy. There's no way I can see to browse to its libraries on it (never was brilliant at using it) just a big black hole where lists of its libraries used to be in XP!

All clues, no matter how dumbass and obvious they might seem to you intelligent folk, will be welcomed and tried - I'm flat outta ideas.
