Narrate one such story in English or your mother tongue. Once, King Lion decided to appoint a Chief Minister. He wants the most beautiful bird to be his Chief Minister. So he decided to hold a competition. All the birds were invited for the competition.

The Crow also wanted to take part in the competition but he was disappointed by his ugly look. As he was thinking, an id flashed across his mind TIe went out and started garnering all the feathers in could find and carried them home.

He ow had a large collection of pretty and colorful feathers he stuck all the beautiful feathers in his tail.

On the day of the competition, all the birds gathered at the Lion King court. One by one they displayed their skills to the Lion when it was the crow’s turn, he walked carefully in front of the king lest any of his feathers should come off. The Lion King was fascinated by the colorful and beautiful feathers of the crow. He declared him the winner and appointed him as his Chief Minister.

All the other birds became jealous of the crow, they pounced on him and snatched the feathers out of his tail. And m no time the crow’s real self was exposed before the king. The king was furious that the crow and deceived him. He drover the crow and appointed a peacock as his chief minister.

The leopard was very alert and swift-footed and i&l so he was made his defense minister.

The lion made a fox his home minister because he was known to be very wise and clever.

The crow could fly high in the sky, so he was made minister for External Affairs.

The three ministers swore to remain loyal to the king.

The teacher asked, “What’s your name?”

The camel proved most faithful to the king.

The lion felt grateful to the camel because he carried him back to the forest

He said, “My name is Varun,”

The lion was feeling very hungry. But his paws were badly burnt and he could not go to hunt by himself. So he asked his ministers to get him some food.

The lion one day thought of having ministers to help him. He called the wise and clever fox and made him his Home minister. The very alert and swiftfooted leopards was made his Defence Minister and the high flying crow was made his Minister for External Affairs. The three ministers swore to remain loyal to the king.

‘When the lion went hunting, they helped him to find the prey. After having his fill, he would leave the remains for them. Thus they always had enough to eat.’

One day the crow told the lion about the carnet m<-at. The lion and the three ministers walked towards the desert in search of a camel. The hot sand burnt the lion’s paws, so he wanted to return to the forest. The clever fox went to the camel and bought him to the lion presence. All the four jumped on the camel’s back and reached the forest. All of them were very tired and hungry and wanted to meal the camel.

But the lion thanked the camel and promised him protection. The ministers were shocked. The hungry lion ordered the ministers to bring him food. The ministers were keen on eating the camel. So they returned empty-handed and offered themselves to be eaten.

Seeing the loyalty of the ministers, the camel too offered himself. The ministers were very happy and were ready to bounce on the camel. But the lion stopped them.

The lion immediately thanked all the 3 ministers for their loyalty and decided to eat them one by one. Soon after this saying, all the ministers absconded from the scene. The lion laughed and sa d to the camel “You have proved my most loving and loyal friend; you shall live with me all your life. No harm shah ‘ver comes to you.” And then two lived on family together.

The poet wishes to serve his Maker by composing poems in his honour. He also wants to propagate this message in the whole world.

कवि अपने निर्माणकर्ता के सम्मान में कविताओं की रचना करके उसकी सेवा करना चाहता है। वह इस सन्देश को पूरी दुनिया को देना चाहता है।

The poet Milton expresses his sorrow by composing the poem “On His Blindness”. This poem is dedicated to God. He stays at his place and urges God why He has made him blind. By means of this poem he expresses his views. He says that he is doing his duty in His honour. In this way he is performing his duty of composing verses. On the other hand he urges God to give back his eyesight so that he can do his work successfully. But God admonishes the poet by reminding his duty and says that he should do his work patiently. God says that he does not require any gift or service of a man. The poet should not expect for his mercy because he will get everything like others staying at his place. God’s mercy and grace will be bestowed upon everyone. So he should wait.

कवि मिल्टन, “ऑन हिज ब्लाइन्डनेस” नामक कविता के माध्यम से अपना दुःख व्यक्त करता है। यह कविता भगवान को समर्पित है। वह अपने स्थान से ही जोर देकर भगवान से कहता है कि उसने उसे अन्धा क्यों कर दिया। इस कविता के माध्यम से वह अपने विचार प्रकट करता है। वह कहता है कि वह भगवान के सम्मान में अपने कर्तव्य का पालन कर रहा है। इस प्रकार वह कविता की रचना के माध्यम से अपना कर्तव्य निभा रहा है। दूसरी तरफ वह भगवान से अतिप्रेमपूर्ण ढंग से कहता है कि उसे आँखों की ज्योति प्रदान की जाये जिससे कि वह अपना कार्य सफलतापूर्वक कर सके। लेकिन भगवान उसे प्रताड़ित करते हुए, और उसके कर्तव्य की याद दिलाते हुए कहते हैं कि उसे (कवि) अपना कर्त्तव्य धैर्यपूर्वक पूरा करना चाहिए। भगवान आगे कहते हैं कि उसे न किसी की सेवा की आवश्यकता है और न किसी तोहफे की। कवि को उसकी दया की प्रतीक्षा नहीं करनी चाहिए क्योंकि अन्यों की तरह उसे भी सब कुछ अपने स्थान पर स्वतः प्राप्त हो जायेगा। भगवान की कृपा और दया दृष्टि सब पर समान रूप से होती है। इसलिए उसे प्रतीक्षा करनी चाहिए।

This poem has been composed by the poet John Milton who was born in 1608 and passed away in 1674. He was well-trained in classical language. His early poems had been written in Latin. On behalf of this poem the poet delivers an important message to the human being that there must be perfect faith in God in order to live a perfect life in this mortal world and to achieve salvation in this dispermanent world.

In the beginning of the poem the poet appears talking to God face to face and asks God the reason of his blindness and he introduces his works of present life which are perfect according to him. God stops the poet to say anything and commands him to do his allotted work patiently. At last God clears the poet that in order to become his true worshiper there must be perfect faith in the heart. The poet uses wonderful personification to create reality in his words. The language is direct and impressive and the Rhyming scheme is based on abba.

यह कविता कवि जॉन मिल्टन के द्वारा रची गई है जिनका जन्म 1608 में हुआ तथा 1674 में इनकी मृत्यु हुई। वह पारम्परिक भाषा में अच्छे प्रशिक्षित थे। उनकी प्रारम्भिक कविताएं लैटिन भाषा में लिखी गई थीं। इस कविता के माध्यम से कवि मानव को एक महत्त्वपूर्ण सन्देश देता है कि इस नश्वर संसार में पूर्ण जीवन जीने के लिए तथा मोक्ष प्राप्ति के लिए ईश्वर में अटूट विश्वास होना चाहिए। कविता के आरम्भ में कवि भगवान के समक्ष खड़ा हुआ प्रकट होता है तथा ईश्वर से अपने अंधेपन का कारण पूछता है तथा अपने वर्तमान जीवन के कार्य को श्रेष्ठ प्रस्तुत करता है।

लेकिन भगवान कवि को कुछ भी कहने से रोक देते हैं तथा उसे दिए गए कार्य को धैर्यपूर्वक करने का आदेश देते हैं। अन्त में भगवान स्पष्ट करते हैं कि भगवान का सच्चा भक्त बनने के लिए उसके दिल तथा दिमाग में भगवान के प्रति पूर्ण विश्वास होना चाहिए। कवि अद्भुत मानवीकरण प्रस्तुत करता है अपनी शब्द शैली में वास्तविकता का भाव पेश करने के लिए। कविता की भाषा प्रत्यक्ष तथा प्रभावशाली है और कविता की तुक योजना abba पर आधारित है।

The poet expresses his views by means of this sonnet. He understands his duties well but he is not sure of God’s grace. At last he is satisfied with the idea that God’s grace and blessings will be bestowed upon him on some or the other day. He knows well that God’s blessings will be equal to all the beings. Human beings should not complain against God for anything. If a person believes on God’s mercy, he will be benefited surely. He should not create any doubt regarding God’s favour, mercy and blessings. He should be free from all doubts according to his views on behalf of God. God’s judgement can never be wrong. He should fulfil his duty whatever God has assigned to him. He should wait and stand still for the result.

कवि अपनी कविता (सॉनिट 14 पंक्तियों की कविता) के माध्यम से अपने विचार व्यक्त करता है। कवि अपने कर्तव्यों को भली-भाँति समझता है लेकिन उसे भगवान की कृपा-दृष्टि पर विश्वास नहीं है। अन्त में वह इस विचार से सन्तुष्ट हो जाता है कि उसे भगवान की कृपा एवं आशीर्वाद एक न एक दिन अवश्य प्राप्त होगा। वह यह भी अच्छी तरह से जानता है कि भगवान का आशीर्वाद प्रत्येक प्राणी के लिये समान रूप से होगा। मानवमात्र को किसी भी बात के लिये भगवान के विरुद्ध शिकायत नहीं करनी चाहिए। यदि कोई व्यक्ति भगवान की दया पर विश्वास करता है तो वह अवश्य ही लाभान्वित होगा। उसे भगवान की दया, कृपा एवं आशीर्वाद के प्रति कोई सन्देह नहीं करना चाहिए। कवि के विचारों के अनुसार भगवान के प्रति सन्देह से मुक्त रहना चाहिए। भगवान का न्याय कभी भी गलत नहीं हो सकता। भगवान ने उसे जो कर्तव्य सौंपा है उसे पूरा करना चाहिए। परिणाम के लिए उसे शान्त चित्त रहकर प्रतीक्षा करनी चाहिए।

The poet is so unhappy with God because God has snatched his eyesight in spite of his good works.

कवि भगवान से बहुत अधिक नाराज है क्योंकि भगवान ने कवि के अच्छे कर्म होने के बावजूद उसकी आँखों की रोशनी छीन ली है।

This sonnet which has been entitled “On His Blindness” the poet develops the sense of pessimism in his heart and mentality about life. He gives up hope and becomes worried about his further life which will become difficult without his eyes. It also shows his distrust in God and he realises himself an unfortunate person and begs before God to return his eyesight once again.

यह सॉनेट जिसे “ऑन हिज ब्लाइन्डनेस” शीर्षक दिया गया है कवि अपने दिल और दिमाग में जीवन के प्रति निराशा की भावना विकसित करता है। वह आशा छोड़ देता है और चिन्तित हो जाता है अपने आगे के जीवन के बारे में जो कि बिना नेत्र-ज्योति के कठिन होगा। यहाँ कवि का भगवान में अविश्वास झलकता है। वह स्वयं को बदकिस्मत महसूस करता है तथा भगवान के सामने अपनी आँखों की रोशनी एक बार पुनः लौटाने की भीख माँगती है।

God chides the poet for his innocent complaints against Him. He says that he should perform his duties without thinking of their result. He should not blame God for his blindness. He does not need any service or gift for his appeasement. As for his blindness, it is due to his destiny. It is not the fault of God. He should fulfil his duty sincerely without thinking of its result. God is very careful about His creation and He knows well what to do next. He should serve mankind by composing poetry.

भगवान कवि की उसके विरुद्ध भोली-भाली शिकायतों के लिये उसे प्रताड़ित करता है। वह कहता है कि उसे बिना परिणाम सोचे अपने कर्तव्यों का निर्वहन करते रहना चाहिए। अपनी अन्धता के लिये भगवान को दोष नहीं देना चाहिए। उसे सन्तुष्ट करने के लिए किसी भी भेंट अथवा सेवा की आवश्यकता नहीं है। जहाँ तक उसके अन्धे होने का सम्बन्ध है वह उसके प्रारब्ध के कारण है। यह भगवान की त्रुटि नहीं है। बिना परिणाम सोचे उसे अपना कर्तव्य निष्ठा से पूरा करना चाहिए। भगवान अपनी सृष्टि के लिए अत्यन्त सावधान है और वह अच्छी तरह जानता है कि उसे आगे क्या करना है। उसे कविताओं की रचना करके मानव समाज की सेवा करनी चाहिए।

The poet is worried because of his blindness. He says that half of the years of his life remain to live and it has become impossible for him to lead his life without his eyes in this wide world. The whole world has become dark for him and his talent of writing poems will be useless and it will be destroyed after his death.

कवि अपने अंधेपन के कारण उदास है। वह कहता है कि उसका आधा जीवन अभी बाकी है और उसके लिए बिना आँखों के जीवन असम्भव हो गया है। यह विशाल संसार उसके लिए अन्धकारमय हो गया है तथा उसकी कविता लिखने की प्रतिभा भी व्यर्थ हो गई है तथा यह प्रतिभा उसके मरणोपरान्त व्यर्थ हो जाएगी।

He is glorifying Him by composing poems and he cannot render any other service except it.

कवि अपने अन्धेपन के लिये भगवान से शिकायत करता है। वह जोर देकर भगवान से कहता है कि वह कविताओं की रचना करके मानव समाज की सेवा कर रहा है, हालांकि भगवान ने उसे अन्धा कर दिया है। उसका वर्तमान कार्य पूर्ण निष्ठा से युक्त है और भगवान को पूर्ण समर्पित है तो वह जानना चाहता है कि उसने उसके साथ न्याय क्यों नहीं किया है। इस कष्ट को वह कब तक झेलेगा। वह अन्य प्राणियों की तरह शारीरिक रूप से सक्षम नहीं है। वह कविताओं की रचना करके भगवान की गरिमा का प्रचार कर रहा है और इसके अलावा कोई अन्य सेवा वह कर ही नहीं सकता।

According to the poet a person who performs his duty without creating doubt regarding God’s blessings and grace, is the true worshiper of God. He should accomplish his work which God has allotted to him. He should not complain of his grievances because God wants to examine his tolerance. Some or the other day he will be rewarded by God. He should stand still and wait for his turn for God’s favour. He should be satisfied and cheerful in all the circumstances.

कवि के अनुसार जो व्यक्ति भगवान की कृपा एवं आशीर्वाद के प्रति सन्देह नहीं करता हुआ अपने कर्तव्य का पालन करता है वही भगवान का सच्चा उपासक है। उसे अपना कार्य पूरा करना चाहिए जो उसे भगवान ने सौंपा है। भगवान उसकी परीक्षा लेना चाहते हैं अतः उसे अपने कष्टों की शिकायत नहीं करनी चाहिए। एक न एक दिन उसे भगवान के द्वारा पुरस्कृत किया जायेगा। भगवान की कृपा दृष्टि प्राप्त करने के लिये उसे शान्त रहकर अपनी बारी की प्रतीक्षा करनी चाहिए। उसे प्रत्येक परिस्थितियों में प्रसन्न और सन्तुष्ट रहना चाहिए।

God asserts in reply to the questions of the poet that he should perform his duty sincerely and patiently. He should wait for his turn to get his grace. He should have full faith in Him to get His blessings. He further says that men get rewards according to his deeds. If his deeds are good, he will be rewarded accordingly. So he should not create any doubt in his mind in regard to His blessings and grace.

भगवान कवि के प्रश्नों के उत्तर में स्पष्ट रूप से कहते हैं कि उसे अपना कर्तव्य पूर्ण निष्ठा एवं धैर्य से। पूरा करना चाहिए। उसकी कृपा प्राप्त करने हेतु उसे अपनी बारी की प्रतीक्षा करनी चाहिए। उसका आशीर्वाद प्राप्त करने के सम्बन्ध में उसे पूर्ण विश्वास रखना चाहिए। वह आगे कहते हैं कि मनुष्य अपने कर्मों के अनुसार फल प्राप्त करते हैं। यदि मनुष्य के कर्म अच्छे हैं तो उसे उन्हीं के अनुसार फल प्राप्त होगा। अत: उसे (कवि) अपने मस्तिष्क में भगवान की कृपा और आशीर्वाद से सम्बन्धित कोई सन्देह नहीं रखना चाहिए।

Halku’s wife wanted him to work as labourer after giving up farming.

The rich land-owners enjoyed the fruits of labour of the farmers.

Context : In these lines the poet expresses his grief over his premature blindness. But he is sad thinking that the talent of composing poems is lying useless with him although he is eager to serve God. 

Explanation : In this stanza we note poet’s complaint to God and realization of his mistake. He foolishly asks if God is so unjust that He expects a blind man to write poems. But soon patience checks him and tells him that God neither wants to take. work from any man nor He has any need of the gifts given by Him. God has given punishment to man for his sins in the form of light sufferings. So the man who cheerfully bears the ‘misfortunes of life and takes them as the will of God, serves Him best. Thus the poet realizes that he should not complain against God.

Sherlock Holmes disguised himself as a  cab driver at first.

Holmes had found out the place where the letters and photographs had been hidden and he was afraid they might be removed from there. So he was interested to get them at the earliest.

होम्स उस स्थान का पता लगा चुका था जहाँ वे पत्र तथा फोटो छिपाये गये थे और उसे आशंका थी कि उन्हें वहाँ से हटाया जा सकता था। अतः वह उन्हें शीघ्रातिशीघ्र पाने को उत्सुक था।

Miss Adler got married to Mr Godfrey Norton.

 Miss Irene Adler bade “good night” to Sherlock Holmes.

Sherlock Holmes was a detective. He had to disguise himself to perform his duty. To get the love letters and the photograph of the king, Helmes disguised himself first as an old cab driver and then as a priest.

शरलॉक होम्स एक जासूस थे। उन्हें अपने काम को करने के लिये छद्म भेष बनाने पड़ते थे। राजा के प्रेम-पत्रों व फोटो को पाने के लिये होम्स ने सबसे पहले तो एक बूढे टेक्सी चालक का और फिर एक पादरी का भेष बनाया था।

The letters could not be proved false because they were written on the king’s own private paper and in his own writing. Both of these proved that the letters had been written by none other than the king.

वे पत्र इसलिए झूठे सिद्ध नहीं किए जा सकते थे क्योंकि वे राजा के निजी कागजों पर तथा उसकी स्वयं की लिखावट में लिखे हुए थे। इन दोनों से यह सिद्ध होता था कि ये पत्र किसी अन्य ने नहीं बल्कि राजा ने ही लिखे थे।

Miss Iren Adler had hidden the letters and the photograph in a secret place in one of the walls of her living room. It was the same room to which Sherlock Holmes was taken.

सुश्री आइरिन एडलर ने उन पत्रों तथा फोटो को अपनी बैठक कक्ष की एक दीवार के गुप्त स्थान पर छिपा रखा था। यह वही कमरा था जिसमें शरलॉक होम्स को ले जाया गया था।

When the king was in Warsaw on a visit, he fell in love with a beautiful American actress Miss Irene Adler. So he wrote letters to her to express his love for her.

जब राजा वारसा के दौरे पर गया था वह एक सुंदर अमेरिकन अभिनेत्री सुश्री आइरिन एडलर से प्यार कर बैठा था। इसलिए उसने उसके प्रति अपने प्रेम को व्यक्त करने हेतु पत्र लिखे थे।
