I have have a logo on a light COLORS background.I need to make it transparent for my new wed site background.I need help please. Thanks.What software do you use to edit your images?The logo was design for me.I thought it was a clean background.I only have PAINT and windows photo gallery.I use wed easy profession 7 to do my wed site.But I have never WORKED with a logo.Whenever you have a logo designed for you...it's a good idea to have the artist send it to you in several DIFFERENT formats, (i.e., .gif., .jpg, .png) this way you have everything you need right at your fingertips.

Why not attach your logo to the next post and someone may be able to edit it for you.It's the brown logo.I really got use some help.Could some tell me some good logo software?

However, if you're looking for logo creator software, you might want to try LaughingBird. Their software isn't free...but it could help you design your own logo. Or you can have someone create your logo for you...but it may cost you.

Hello and thank you for looking at my thread.

I want to expand the menu items in the File, Edit, View menu so on.
When I go into these taskbars I only get the short list of items to select from and frankly it drives me NUTS!!!!

I dont use these THINGS ENOUGH for them to be a nuisance or get in the way, so I want them all fully expanded when I select them, instead of having to hover over the arrow and wait for them to appear.
Can SOMEONE direct me as to how this might be DONE please?

I bought wife new computer from Comp USA for $219.99. I'm sure that many of you jumped on that ONE yourselves. It was described exactly as follows by Tiger/CompUSA.

Lenovo 3000 J205 9686-A12 Desktop PC w/2GB Ram - AMD Sempron 3600+, 512MB, 80GB, DVD-ROM/CD-RW, Gigabit, Vista Home Basic, 2GB Kingston RAM.

She didn't like Vista, wanted Windows XP Home Edition on it. I am somewhat computer literate but on occasion just enough to be dangerous and self destructive. After removing Vista and loading Windows XP Home Edition, I find that various drivers are missing.

Within the Device Manager of Windows XP, I have a series of devices listed under "Other Devices" with the dreaded yellow question mark at the beginning of each one. I've went to the extent of uninstalling each one, eliminating the "Other Devices" catagory..... obviously the catagory and all devices return upon the next boot sequence and I've went thru the search setup that goes with their return, but to no avail.

Whether I'm looking for Vista or XP drivers is something I'm not sure of but I've searched thru my XP install CD and nothing turned up.

The devices are listed in the sequence as follows:

Ethernet Controller
PCI Device
Universal Serial Bus Controller
Unknown Device
Unknown Device
Video Controller (VGA Compatible)

I would appreciate it greatly if someone would either upload (click name for email addy) those drivers to me or steer me in the PROPER direction where I might locate them. Thank you.
Travel to the Lenovo website and under the Support section enter your MODEL # and DLoad and install the XP drivers for that machine...

MBoard chipset drivers go FIRST.Patio..... I've been to that page previously but it was somewhat confusing and doesn't appear to have everything I need. However as you suggested, I went back there and downloaded an ASSORTMENT of Vista and XP driver applications. Hopefully I can extract them into one directory and source them from there.

The drivers I found pertained to Video, Audio, and Ethernet. From what I gather the USB controller driver has something to do with Service Pack #1 but if that pertains to Vista, I think I'd stay away from it as I'm running XP.

Easier to build from scratch than to try to convert these machines.

I have proplem with my web cam i can't adjust CONTRAST and backlight.When i go to setting these are grey and SOFTWARE is not allowing me to adjust them so i am not getting clear pic on WEBCAM.I reinstalled the drivers still same proplem I CHECKED for errors and fixed still same proplem.I thought the proplem was caused by this particular web cam so i bought a new one still I am having the same proplem.Helpwhat webcam is it. what software are you using?

I have given upon Windows instant SEARCH as even on an Intel i7 Quad core processor with 3GB ram, Instant search slows down the system, generally interfering with speed of all processes in a way that I just find unacceptable.

I have removed instant search and resorted to using the address book search which if fine for my needs BUT even that does not bring up entries that are quite obviously there in my conatacts.

Is there any ANSWER to this as yet? I have searched the net and am finding only inconclusive STUFF at the moment. Does anyone KNOW if Microsoft anything to say other than SUGGESTING stuff that does not work?

Basic Problem
Ok, so my problem started when my MSN stopped working. It wouldn't connect, saying that I had an invalid IP address. My Firefox and Internet Explorer both work just fine. Nothing else related to my internet connection is affected aside from MSN.

I am still able to ping websites and IPs no problem.

I ran the Messenger Connection Troubleshooter. It said I had an invalid IP address. I ran the Command Prompt as Administrator and ran "ipconfig /release" which gave me the following message:

"No OPERATION can be performed on Wireless NETWORK Connection while it has its media disconnected
No operation can be performed on Local Area Connection white it has its media disconnected"

I downloaded WinSock Fix to try and fix my IP problems. WinSock Fix gave me an error that read: "Registry Import Information Not Found". After finishing the REPAIR it also gave me "Error 53".

I then ran "netsh winsock reset" from the Command Prompt and although it said it was successful, after a restart the problem was still there.

I know that my problem only seems to affect MSN (web version still work by the way), but it's a very annoying problem.

My wife has the exact same setup as me and she has the exact same problem and it occurred at the exactly the same time.

I really don't get what's wrong or where to go from here. Any ideas would be much appreciated. Microsoft's support staff and help sections are useless.Have you tired to shut everything down and than boot the modem...wait a min than boot the router...wait a min and than boot your machine?

It's a USB Modem, so it only connects once I boot up my laptop. I've tried shutting everything down, booting the computer, waiting a few minutes, then plugging in the USB modem and CONNECTING. That doesn't work.

I use Outlook Explorer 6 on Windows 2000. When opening an Email attachment I got the "Open With" window, Selected Adobe Reader 9 and then stupidly clicked "Always use this program to open attacments". Now attachments other than pdf files will not open, and I do not find the window where I can reverse this INSTRUCTION. Can SOMEBODY please help me.If you right CLICK on a document type, i.e. Word (the one you chose to use pdf with as well) and choose properties, you can select there which program to use as the default for that media type.Thanks pcwizard for the advice. However I still do not seem to GET it right. Where should I right click on document type as you suggest? When for example I try to open a .jpg file I get the screen that asks if I want to Open or Save to Disk. If I select Open it goes by default to Adobe Reader which does not recognise the file type and to open the file I must first save it in a temporary folder. Am I missing something? And so far so good you can print the Swqre Covers or Round Lables that go on the DVDs.

But one thing I don't know how to pull up or find the Templeates that will LINE up with the way it will print on my Papper.

I gave up doing labels and just use a marking pen.
But, if I want to print labels, I would use a kit that has both the labels and the whatever in one done deal.It even has a thing to help you align the HOLES on the CDs
The one I had used was from Memorex and is SOLD almost everywhere.

I am a very experienced Word user but I am frustrated by an issue I can't FIGURE out. Whenever I am creating a document containing lists (which is pretty much every document I work with) and I have to start a new list, I highlight the text and go to Format>Bullets and Numbering and select Restart Numbering. The weird thing is that the list does not restart numbering but picks up where the last list left off UNTIL I click the undo button on the toolbar. Once I do that, everything RENUMBERS properly. Of course, this works fine, but the thing that bothers me is that it shouldn't - and I'm one of these people who - due to my experience - should be able to explain why this happens. Also I'm nagged by the fact that I shouldn't have to do this, there is OBVIOUSLY a setting somewhere that overrides the intial command and I want to know what it is.IIRC there has been an unresolved glitch in versions of Word since NINETEEN canteen, but the following article on the Word MVP site may be useful:

But I get lost I donload something and then I click pon it and it Installs.
Then after I install it it brings up a Window that taks me to a web site to click the fonts I wont to Install even after I thought I did Install them.

I don't know what I m doing so I UN installed wht I did.

You must know which folder you are downloading to.Well I ment.

I am RUNNING win xp pro and I know I go to Controle Pannle and click the Fonts Folder and it opens and I see all my Fonts that are installed.

And if I go to the top Tab I think Vuwe or edit or in one of these Tabs it Says Ad New Font and you select the Font Type that you want to install.

And you select from the list what Fonts to install.

I get this I just don't know how to get the Font Type on my Decktop so I can go into Controle Pannle and click on Ad New Font.

Use Notepad to see your current Fonts.

Obviously 100 free fonts is too much for you to handle right now. Fonts generally do not come with an installer so clicking on a font will not install it. LOTS of fonts come in a zipped file (fontname.zip) so have to be unzipped before being installed.

So goto http://www.fontcubes.com/ and download the font named Ginga. This comes in a file named Ginga.zip. You must know to which folder your browser or download manager will download this.

When the downloading is complete browse to where the file is stored and click on it. Your default unzipping program (WinZip, IZarc etc..) will open and unzip the file to wherever you want, be it the desktop or any other location.

Now goto Control Panel>Fonts>File tab>Install New Font. Browse to where the unzipped font is stored and Ginga.ttf will appear in the List of Fonts box. Highlight it and click OK. The Ginga.ttf font will now be installed.

Practice a few times then go for your 101 download..

Hi everyone, this is my first post here, and I please hope that you GUYS can help me out here. The problem started yesterday, literally right after I downloaded internet explorer 8 to my computer (if you are wondering, I use vista). After the download and restart, everything seemed to be ok with my computer, until I wanted to stream some music from windows media player through my Xbox 360 while I was playing. I then get a message that says it cant connect to my computer, and to check my media sharing settings. I try to enable it again, and it says there might be a firewall problem. I disable my firewalls, try it again, and it still wont go through. I did ANYTHING and everything I could think of, even one of my good friends (whos the IT department director at his job) tried everything he could and it didnt work. My Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 cant even connect to my computer through my network anymore, its as if my computer is invisible to everything. He said to copy the WMP settings from another Vista enabled computer, which I will do, but it is probably my last and best shot. I tried to run system restore, but my computer has no real usable restore points, so that didnt work. What should I do? Uninstall IE8

Why not just get a DVD burner instead of a CD burner? Lots more space.
You can find a UTILITY somewhere that is used for spanning. It creates compressed blobs o' data that will fit into a CD. The you have to use that program again to un compress the blobs o' data and put into a folder of whatever.

People use to do this with a big stack floppy discs. Three months later
one of the floppy discs un duz itself and the whole set is near useless.

And then says compleate and spits the disk out.

And ware it says Burn Multi Disk Session I pick NO.

So I know it closses the sesson.

There e mail does no work.You can do a Google on 'file spanner' and get lots of hits. So you could use that to breakup up a large block in clunkds taht would fit onto CDs. Of course, you need enough hard drive space as a work area to put it together again.Most Good burning apps do this automatically...i use CDBurnerXPro.

I have just started having a problem keeping my photo pro shop program open. I try to SCROLL through the picture files to select a photo and a message will COME up that it has expexienced a problem and needs to shut down-send error report and when you click on that button it shuts the program down.

:DI got it done! I had to go into the computer and reinstall the program to get it to upload the pictures into the program. Also, I was finally able to talk to someone from register.com to have them help me thru the filezilla FTP process. It was so simple that I complicated it by MAKING it harder!-Isn't that how it always is!?!

How do I SAVE and keep safe all my stuff I've put on my computer ? it's my first computer. a Compaq Presario SR1500NX with the 2nd service pack. when I first started using it someone from support walked me through the steps of saving everything onto 10 CD-R discs. so I have those, now I'm wanting to save all my digital photo's, scanned images, videos and all the USUAL stuff we collect on these things. I tried following an article by Ed Bott. "Windows XP Backup Made Easy" but when it asks to insert my Windows XP CD I not only can't find such a disc I don't remember if it ever had one. all I could find was "Works8 & Microsoft Money" I'm guessing that's not the disc we need.


On another note, the process Ed Bott describes seems fairly easy and inexpensive, that is if I had the disc they ask for, so I was wondering, why are there more expensive products out there for doing this ? I saw something on the news I wish I could remember the name of the product ! it was basically two boxes, one box saved everyting on your computer and the other box backed up the first box, it COST in the $ 200.00 range. I've searched and can't seem to find it now.
There are many ways to back up your data, but the safest way is to store it EXTERNALLY .... i.e. on an external Hard Drive, CD or DVD. The METHOD you use will depend on how much data you have to backup.
For example a CD will hold approx 700mb, a DVD5 4.37GB, DVD9 8.5GB or and an External Hard Drive can be anything upto 1.5TB.
All you need to copy to CD or DVD is a Burning program and to store on an External Hard Drive, everything you need is already in Windows.

Hey does ANYONE use Winamp anymore? For videos and/or audio? It has a new interface but it seems it's the same. It's kinda weak but simple. Skinning is EASY but it doesn't have the power and features as the others out now. Even Real and Windows Media Player is as old but still going strong. Winamp is LIKE a cool friend but you don't want to date the person. You don't want to use it for your media. Does it cut it for you anymore?I use it...since my computer is older and i can't get Itunes(i can but its an older version which cant connect to my Ipod 3G Nano)

It's pretty slick, doesn't eat up as much mem as Itunes.Winamp is good but still faltering. I love it but sometimes I am ashamed to be using it. All the people who were using it longer than I have have turned against it. It's good but that kinda look doesn't work for Winamp. I wish, hope and pray for WMP12 to come out, like now! It also tried pathetically to copy WMP11. Not cool! It has features I love and can be powerful most of the time but the look needs to change and this Rhapsody is dumb. It also looks stale. Nothing to be excited about. I hope that in the future the whole media players on your PC goes away. It may be streaming media to your TV, laptop or hardware mp3 or mp4 players. I think that's why Apple is smart. It tries to centralize everything so we don't get bombarded with so many players or software. PCs suck up enough power anyway.I just remembered something...No one talks much about Zune these days. The program is goofy and it doesn't play many video files. The colour is lame. I have an mp4 player which looks pretty much the same as an iPod which plays videos. But can I go somewhere and have them change the colour of the exterier. Maybe paint the USA flag on it or so? Or is it not possible? The colour is silver/grey but I wanna spruce it up a bit.

I just wish that they would allow playback for other files and include codecs and plugins in their setups and all. The look for WMP11 is okay but boring now. a setup program for what?I was asking about Windows Media Player 12. I have seen screenshots of it online and they all look legit. It's in the Win 7 beta software but I don't have access to that.It is a hacked beast that you will have issues with...this was explained in your other post.

I've got a computer from work that was going to be thown away. It is very very slow and full of stuff that I don't want. Hmm, well it's a new charger that's MADE for my laptop model, so yea it's good. And it does charge the laptop, I'm on it right now, it's just the laptop stays at 0 percent (while running) and doesn't continue charging. Even if I leave it on during the night while closed, it still doesn't charge the laptop :/I have a battery charger, and I cannot use it if it is plugged into a multi-socket extension cord with a switch on, so I have to use wall-outlets. So maybe you have to use a different outlet or maybe the laptop battery is not FUNCTIONAL. Maybe (hopefully) it's something else
It sounds LIKE the battery just isn't charging, and that the laptop is running directly from the wall outlet.

Recently Java has been asking for permission to continue a couple of minutes after turning on the computer. It's really annoying since it interrupts me if I'm playing a game.

Sorry for not updating regularly Broni but life has been very HECTIC lately. Here is the latest: I downloaded the AVG free file you gave the link to. It tells me that AVG 7 is INSTALLED on this system and it is not recommended to install AVG 8. WITHOUT first removing AVG 7.

So I tried to go to the file of AVG 8 in the start menu and try the uninstall from there. It then tells me this: Uninstall failed! 1 error occured, Click DETAILS to show information. Then under details it says: (Local machine: prepared for the installation Installation:Error: Uninstallation is not possible. Product not installed.) That's where we are at the moment.

What have we got for the hard option?

Hi i try to every so often clean my comp. This time i chose to reinstall windows and format my C drive(where windows was installed) The HD is partitioned in 3 segments.


Motherboard: GA-8N-sli pro
Processor: intep Pentium 4
Graphixcard: club 3d 7600 GT

Now.... I started with the XP home edition cd and followed the steps. When it promted me if i wanted to install a fresh xp i did so. All was going well until i was FINISHED installing XP and started with the drivers from the cd i got with my computer.

Nvidia nforce 4 sli Intel edition series motherboard utility cd (ver. 1.0) - gigabyte technology.

The first set of drivers installed just fine (from what i could see) but as soon as i installed the last one, motherboard_driver_ide_nvidia_c19, Windows wont get past the loading PAGE. (XP home edition logo with loading bar).

I messed AROUND with the restore functions the XP cd gives you, Tried both the first(with the command fictions) and the second one. But it didn't help. Tried this a few times and got frustrated. Trying to get into save mode also didn't do anything.

I started messing around in the bios(prolly not a good idea as I'm not a whizz at it) which gave me all sort of *censored*, cant detect the hd and such, raid arrays being detected, and so on.
After some long struggling i got it to detect the HD again and did a full format on the PARTITION using the "D" function then "L" and reinstalled windows again. Worked fine.
his time i decided to get my driver off the internet (my laptop) so i would have the LATEST drivers. But after installing the same last driver XP was unwilling to restart again.

Can anyone help me figure this out, I'm trying to stay away from sending it to the repairs as i am not that high on funds atm and i need this workstation to be operational :/.

I would start with removing the CMOS battery for 10 minutes or so to reset everything back to default setup...
Then re-install XP and make sure it is installing to C:
Then re-install the MBoard drivers and re=boot...
Ignore the stubborn nVidia drivers for now and let Windows use the native drivers then go online and look for updated nVidia drivers...

I saved PICTURES from a digital camera onto my floppy disks. I can open all but 2 images. the images do not fully load. they are there because when i go to print, it shows the whole image but a lot smaller. How can i load that image fully?, please HELP, very important imageUnfortunately when an image doesn't fully load it's OFTEN an indication that the image is corrupt. However, if that was the case I'd ASSUME that it wouldn't be printing the full image either. Try saving the image files to the hard disk drive and open the images from there.

If that doesn't work, what are the image extensions (e.g. .GIF, .JPG)? What are you using to open the pictures? Could you post an example image on the forums?

I was looking at Open Office and all it can do.

It can make Busness Cards and Envalopes and CD DVD LABLES.

But from what I saw on the web it is very very havy with Data Bass Creatting.

And the Documents say to make a LABLE you have to do a Lot of making Data Basses.

Is there just FREE programs to let you make Busness Cards...CD DVD Lables....Envalopes.

I do a search on google and just FIND web sites that will let you do this I want a Program.

I'm not one of them.... Used AVG until version 8...like Broni said, it's BLOATED. Tried Avast & got too many false POSITIVES. Have been using Avira FREE & have had no problems with it so far. It is much easier to use than the OTHERS as well.

Not neccessarily...but normally Windows likes to be installed to C:...it makes it think it is in charge.
The only time i install to anywhere else is in a multi-boot enviornment.i have rolled it back to IE7 and still have no flash player.

to answer the other question. about c: drive. i have 2 250's partioned. c: drive is partioned for my data. and d: drive is set up to be my o.s. and program folder. . .

a friend TOLD me the other day, that removing the flash player might not be enough. that i might be missing the drivers for it. that might be in another folder somewhere was just wondering I APOLOGIZE for double posting . but i have just tried a program called auto-pacher. it did not fix the PROBLEM either. under the option of windows add ons it gave the option to have macromedia adoe flash player 9.0.45.0 for internet explorer . i think to be updated or installed.do i need to change my hard drive designations?? make the o.s. the c: drive ?? if so then how do i do that and mess the other programs on my computer up ?? unless someone has another option that i could TRY ??

When I use the MENU "move to folder" option, included in the drop down are both of my Outlook calendars. And I have mistakenly selected those. How do I view/retrieve that email back that was moved to those ALLEGED folders?

I have Office 2007, both on an official Microsoft retail DVD and as a downloaded file. At first I could not perform a clean INSTALL of it on my Vista laptop, but I INSTALLED Office 2003 and then used the DVD to upgrade it, so I then had Office 2003 and Office 2007 side by side. Just this evening I removed Office 2003.

So I tried to open Outlook 2007 to set up my Hotmail, and I can launch the program but keep getting errors when I go to 'Account Options'. The error message advised me to restart Outlook and reinstall if the problem persists.

I tried repairing the installation from the DVD, but that resulted in a Microsoft bootstrapper error. I am now attempting to repair the installation through the Repair option in Add/Remove Programs.

My boss has been working on a Microsoft Word document for the past 5 days. She saved the document regularly. She opened the document today, worked for about 3 hours, saved it and when she re-opened the document it was empty.. Completely blank!! I have looked in the recent folder/my documents/searched for any other saved copies but they all come back blank. Is there anyway I can retrieve the work she has done, or restore the document back to this morning because it was fine then. I’m really at a loss to how to retrieve the information she’s typed up.

I've recently developed a problem with Outlook Pro 2003 on my non-networked computer, which runs XP.

When I click Sent ITEMS the folder will not OPEN and I instead GET the message "Unable to display the folder. Microsoft Office Outlook could not access the specified folder location." The same problem has begun to occur with Calendar. I've seen a number of postings on other sites about similar problems, but these all seem to involve MS Exchange.

Any help your members could supply will be gratefully received. PLEASE note that I have next to no technical knowledge of computing so I'd appreciate it if your replies were pitched at dummy level.

I tried 'Detect and Repair', which appeared to reinstall Outlook. I was able to access the sent items, but today the problem reoccurred. Any thoughts on why this may have happened.

Also, any idea where the sent items are likely to be stored on the computer? I can't find them.

John. Sorry but no. I QUITE using Outlook because it kept giving me problem after problem. I'm using Thunderbird and with the extensions you can add on it's just as efficient as Outlook...was.

To give you a better initial idea of what my problem is I have attached screen shots of the not working driver list. the errors that occur when vista attempts to install new hardware and the files which I have already tried using to install my drivers.

Prelim information:
My name is James and I would be very grateful if someone could help me solve this problem.
I was unfortunate enough to download a virus called DNS Changer along with some other VIRUSES when I downloaded a cd crack for an old game that I legitimately owned. I scanned the file but my virus program didn't detect a virus until I had unzipped and installed the fake crack. Anyway long story SHORT, I copied all the files I wished to keep, downloaded a program that I used to make a boot disk that wiped my hard drives completely called something like "kill disk". I then downloaded a program for my specific hard drive ( I have 2 western digit hard drives with 250g space each). This formatted my hard drives correctly and let me install a new version of vista (I previously had windows XP) that my UNIVERSITY had provided me along with a cd key (they have some agreement with microsoft). I now have vista running as you can see. Was very pleased with myself as I had a few problems installing vista until I had correctly formatted my hard drives.

The problem is I didn't set this computer up and I have never set up a computer before.

I know I have to install drivers and I have tried for days but I have not successfully installed one driver.
I tried installing an audigy two sound driver for starters. This got the sound working and told me to restart.
I restarted my pc and the sound was not working again. When i tried to install a new driver it would give me the error message that new drivers had been installed and I had to restart my pc. I downloaded a program called driver sweeper to remove the information clogging the system and I think this worked. Now when the computer starts up it detects new hardware but from an unknown device as seen in the screen shots.

FYI: My motherboard is an 'ASUS P5GD2 Deluxe Wireless Edition motherboard'. I use this wireless to connect to a wireless router in my house hold. I am yet to work out how to connect to the net as the wireless hardware appears non existent. I think this also has to do with drivers. But I can not seem to find the right ones and some I have found have come up with a "this is not compatible with your version of windows" error.

Also, I hope this doesn't matter but when I was using the program to fix my hard drives I had to choose the operating system. There was no vista option so I chose XP and clicked another box next to it. I had to do this as without clicking the box which had some jargon letters next to it, the hard drive would not work format correctly. It let me format the whole 250 Gig instead of a strange 130 gig thing the hard drive installer had been talking about.

Also the sound card is a "Creative sound blaster audigy 2 ZS 24bit."
I use a 6.1 surround sound set up.

My computer is about 4 to 5 years old and this is the first reformat I have done.

When I use UnderCoverXP to make a CD Lable or DVD Lable and I CLICK Print it PRINTS.

But it Prints at the top of the Page a little to the Left.
And it just Prints One Lable to go on the CD or DVD.

But when you go to buy Lable Papper they have a Lot on one page.
And some are in a Diferant number.

You may buy a Lable Templeate that has Two CD or DVD Lables on one page right next to eatch other or one right under the other one.

I have an Acer x1700. I installed XP to get rid of Vista and now the sound and video are gone. It says there are "no devices." Can you please tell me what I need to download to get them back? Your help will be much appreciated.go to device manager and check if its missing drivers...YES it is. i have actually cured that. now i find the "video controller (VGA compatible)" also has disappeared! (This is the description it gives in the device manager). I can play videos from my hard drive (taken on camera etc) and from the Internet, but not DVDs.

I tried download one from the Acer site, but they only have ones for Vista.

My wife was having problems opening a Microsoft Works spreadsheet on her laptop. She had opened it and used it the night before with no problem. It's on a Sandi's memory stick BTW. She keeps getting a message that says:

Microsoft Works cannot open another spreadsheet or database. You can only have 6 worksheets or databases open at ONE time. Close at least one spreadsheet or database and then try again.

I TOOK her memory stick and tried the same THING on our home computer to no avail. I then copied the particular spreadsheet to a floppy and it still would not open. I tried to open different ones and received the same message. What 's the deal?

If the version the Works file is created in is higher than the version you have at home, you cannot open it.

They must be the same version.

I'm sure you can SAVE the works file as an older version to allow older version of MS Works to open it.That's probably it then. I had originally thought I was using 04 as my wife's business but I had gotten an 07 version from work and also loaded the same on her laptop.
