The repair method attempts to RECOVER only the tables, indexes and queries in the database. Do not attempt to repair damaged forms, reports, macros and modules. Before executing the Compact and Repair tool, please ensure the FOLLOWING condition:

1. Do not open Access database must closed
2. Sufficient storage space available - minimum double in size of your Access database on that Disk.
3. Close the .mdb file related to .ldb file before you delete the .ldb file.
4. Then RUN the Compact and Repair tool

I have an HP PC with WinXP AND IE8. I keep getting an error message (about every 3 or 4 days) that SAYS "Abobe Flash Player Update Service 11.3r300". The error REPORT contents includes two HP Adm Temp local files. I send the error report to MS but the problem persists. I uninstalled/reinstalled Adobe Flash which did not RESOLVE the problem. Is there a way in Windows that I can print out the stack of a program that is being executed from the command prompt? So, for EXAMPLE if I run XX.exe from the command line how can I check which files/references/API CALLS the program is making. Is there a command for the same? I only KNOW of Process Explorer which is Windows GUI based. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Process_Explorer

Anything else from command shell to do what you want would probably have to be a SPECIFICALLY coded program to do this as for DOS can not do this alone to the best of my knowledge.You can use API MONITOR. If the program you are running is a Windows Console program you should see most API invokations. If it is a DOS program an you are running it on 32-bit windows under command, you might see WoW invoking API functions but it probably wouldn't be very useful.

IF you just want to watch what the program does, you can use Process Monitor

So I am attempting to INSERT a pasted layer on top of a frame of a gif in gimp.
I tried going from a png and to a gif and a gif frame to gif frame.
I can get both pasted onto the target gif frame, but the COLORS are wonkey. (It only uses colors in the frame already)
I went to IMAGE > Mode > and set it to RGB but it did not help.

Any ideas?
Am I not clear enough?

Remove the PDF file that was CORRUPTED by sending it to the recycle bin then empty the recycle bin. Download the PDF file again from the original SOURCE. While the Acrobat is downloading the file, limit your computer usage, this will only take a few minutes so just walk away from the computer momentarily. Open the new PDF file once the download has completed.

Remove your Adobe Acrobat Reader program. Click "Start" and select "CONTROL panel." When the control panel opens find "Adobe Acrobat Reader" click on the program then select "Uninstall." Allow the program to complete the entire uninstall process.

Reboot your computer by clicking the "Start" then select "Restart." When the computer is finished rebooting reinstall the "Adobe Acrobat Reader" from Adobe official site. Download the latest version of the "Acrobat" for your computer's operating system. This will take a few minutes to complete the reinstall.

Download the PDF file again by visiting the website that you obtained the corrupted PDF file from. The file should be able to open correctly, but if you are still getting a corrupted file, PROCEED to the next step.

Forgive me if this is not the right place to post (I am new to this forum). I came here seeking help because I am a BIT worried about my CPU usage. Generally my CPU is around 10%-20% with just the chrome browser OPEN, which is no issue. However I ALSO make YouTube videos, and I recently found this desktop recording software called ManyCam, which I have found to be the best free software for recording desktop videos. As soon as I open it and begin recording though, the CPU usage skyrockets by nearly 40%, and if I am recording myself playing a game, then often times the total usage is 80%-90%. I just want to know if I should be worried about the usage being so high, and if there is some way to lower the usage of ManyCam, because it is currently destroying my computer's processor. I tried deleating some large files stored on my computer and it seems to run a bit faster but not sure if there is anything else I can do.Recording your screen is a pretty CPU intensive task, this doesn't seem like abnormal behaviour at all.  Running the game will use even more CPU on top of the screen recorder, hence it reaching 80-90%.  If it's causing issues, try another screen recorder which may be LESS CPU intensive.

I have accidentally removed permissions for any user, including myself as the administrator, to access an external drive (letter J). This is a hard drive I use for backups of much of my data, including photos and documents. Windows does not allow for you to lock yourself out, as for at least 1 account has to remain with privileges to access the drive. If you were using a tool other than windows then I suppose you could lock yourself out. But there is a way to get access if you know the admin name and credentials.

Such as if this was originally created under Bob then create a user account for Bob and make him Admin of your desktop and give him same password as he originally had on the system that the drive came out of. Then logon as Bob and connect the drive. You might then be granted access to the data matching the drives NTFS profile permission privileges to that of the original account.

But for the fact that your trying to access this as an external, I am hoping your the original owner of the data that is on the drive that is protected. I have seen where people find a junk computer. Pull its drive and connect it as an external and then try to sniff around other peoples data that they were foolish to toss their drive away with the computer leaving their data at the will of whoever gets their hands on the drive. I tell all clients and friends to yank the hard drive before tossing away computers and save it or take a gun or sledge hammer to it before tossing it as scrap metal.

If this drive was found from someone else, I'd suggest formatting it and using it clean with your own data. There are ways of cracking NTFS data security on the drive, but I DONT want to share that. The info shared up to this point assumes that your the original owner of the drive and so you know the original admin user for the computer that this drive originally came from. If you dont know the original admin of the drive, then you shouldnt be given privileges to dig into other peoples data.

Please dont take this personal with the response I posted, but if your data was in someone elses hands I would think that you too would not want someone online to show them how to access your personal info, so its good ethics that I can not disclose the hack to grant access if you dont know the original owner account that the data was created from.  Dave,

Thanks for TAKING the time to help me. I purchased the external drive new to be used as a backup external drive, it was not the hard drive from another PC. I am the owner and the only person to save any data to it. It contain vast amounts of backed up data, hence the need to access it every day.

I was originally attempting to restrict access to it as my partner has a habit of deleting files. I right mouse clicked, went to properties and advanced and de-selected read, write and edit options. i thought this was for other users, but appears to have been all users, including me as administrator. I am not now able to access it myself.

I tried a system restore to the previous day but this did not affect the problem.

Following your advice, I have set up a new local account with admin privileges, having changed the name of my original account. The new account had the same name and password as my original account.  However, when I try to access the Drive called on my PC Local Disk (J:) I get the message "J:\ is not accessible. Access is denied ". When I right mouse click and go to properties I get the message "You do not have permission to view the object's security properties, even as administrator. To try taking ownership of the object which includes permission to view its properties, click Change above".

This is when I am presented with a box, I have attached a screen shot.

Any bright ideas of how I can restore my ability to access, read and write to my external backup drive?

It is the J drive on my PC. It is the J drive where I seem to have removed read, write and edit rights for all users. This is what I need to reverse.

Having followed your instructions I can now see all files on the J drive. However when I try to open any file I get the message I do not have access privileges. See the attached jpeg, it looks to me as though I have full access in all domains to add, delete, modify etc. Any great ideas on how I can gain access privileges?

I have a WORKSHEET in Excel for my petty cash.  in this sheet are number of columns relating to details of the expense, DATE, inv number, amount etc.  there is also an account allocation CODE column.
I want to be ABLE to copy and PASTE a relevant row from this worksheet to another worksheet in same workbook, of any row that lists the same allocation code.

This is not an attachment or just a hyperlink to an external gif resource in the body of the e-mail?He's likely talkin about a SIG line...Is this a web bug, I wonder? Where the gif is on a server somewhere and when you open the email and the gif is downloaded the sender (e.g. a spammer or worse) can then examine their weblogs and see 1. that your email address is live 2. your IP address. People sometimes embed a LINK to a 1x1 pixel transparent gif in emails for tracking purposes. This is why many email apps block images.

NOTE: The reference says "You can't directly upload a picture and use it as signature. Gmail only accepts the URL for the image file (the picture must be stored online)."  However, the reference is apparently not current in its description because this is not true.  Images can be uploaded from your hard drive.

Edit: Or, search the Internet for a star gif image.  You might still want to do some editing with Paint or some other photo/image editing program.  I don't want it in signature I want it in senders name. These are sent to me from someone who my have there own email sending capabilities so it lets them do this that's what I think. Google only lets you put in text if you put an online link in it just displays the text part of the link. This must not be easy to do as I get very few emails this way.It would have to be created either on the senders end...or Googles.

Would finding duplicates weed out different versions or just exact duplicates?

.....and since your goal is to reduce- or at least determine- disk space usage, finding duplicate files is not the way to do so.

Maybe not but you had better be sure to backup everything (not to the computer you are working on) before continuing. Flash drive, CD, Online "cloud" services, etc...

regarding C:\Windows\Installer

The folder itself stores the installers for all programs installed using Windows Installer. The purpose is so that you can add or remove features from those programs. without the original installer.

You can use a tool such as the Windows Installer cleanup utility to clean-up that folder. Bear in mind that this will mean you need "original media" (either the disks or the original setup programs) for some programs to change them using add/remove in the control panel.

I have some blu-ray ISO files, but my media player on WINDOWS can't read them. As I know, there are many converting software which can CONVERT some files to other formats, but I have failed to search such a software which can convert iso files. Can anybody give me some advice? So recently for the past two months my computer monitor has been shutting off RANDOMLY, while gpu stress testing, playing games, BROWSING web, or doing whatever. It did not OCCUR when I first built it. I tested ram, cpu and got a new PSU, and it didn't solve the problem. I'm looking for a software or maybe some source code I can use to do the following:

1- Watch a folder (The scanner will drop the PDF file there)
2- Scan the document and read a barcode (always at the top right corner or the 1st page)
3- Copy&rename the PDF file with the barcode
4- Move the renamed file to X folder
5- Move the orinal file to Y folder

6- If the file coulnd be read/on error, move file to Z folder.


I don't need a scanner or a barcode generator I already have both.

Context: We have tons of orders to keep track of. Each order have a specific NUMBER (barcode). By scanning FILES that are reliated to the order we can SEE the progress. We are currently renaming all files manually and it just takes too much time.

If you know a good software please let me know,

I also have some knowledge of programming so if you happen to have some source code to read a barcode I can develop some little software to our liking.

I run a Team Fortress 2 server that uses Linux. To access it, I use Putty to run commands from my windows box, and Screen to actually run the server program. I'm trying to make a VBS file automatically run a specific command from inside the server program, and I'm having some weird errors. I'm using SendKeys and it's working for most of the script. It manages to write everything successfully, until it reaches Screen, where it only writes half of what I'm trying to run.

I can't duplicate the Putty window you're seeing (I only get PuTTY Configuration).

Some suggestions:

• Replace the ENTER keys with TAB (except the last one). This will prevent dismissing the window prematurely.
• Combine "sm_reloadadmins" into a single operation. Less instructions, less problems.
• Lower the sleep times. I've always had better results with quick fire keystrokes and cursor movement. Too much can happen in 20 seconds.
• Test the VBScript one control at a time and see how it progresses. For example, first test the script so "SUPERSECRETPASSWORD" gets entered correctly and the cursor moves to the next field. Add the next control to the VBS and test again.

Sendkeys simply sends out keystrokes. Whether any application is there to catch them makes no difference.

Any chance you can use command line parameters instead of the GUI?

I have a Macbook Air, and I got it in 2012. Now it is getting slower and sluggish especially after I updating to OS X Yosemite. I knew there are many Mac cleaning tools and some of them are not free. MY question is : Does these cleaner really work? Will they boost my Mac speed?This forum gets some requests of Apple. And there are some experts here. In general all PC "cleaning" tools are GARBAGE...i'd STAY away.I'd suggest to GET speed back you could try saving all data to an external drive and performing a  clean install of the OS. If its still slow after this then, you would need a hardware upgrade to increase speed if it even supports an upgrade. If its internet SPEEDS then you will need a faster internet connection or stop others from hogging bandwidth choking your system off.

Most systems run better after a fresh install of an OS that is then updated to fullest security updates. However I am not a Mac guy and so you might find that your computer is just too weak of processing power to run the OS of choice at a speed that you desire. If it were a Windows based system I would be of more help on this subject. 

Cleaning Tools generally dont work out so well. Most dont help and sometimes make the problem worse. The cleanest you can be is a clean fresh build of the OS.

Ok I hook up my laptop to my modem with an Ethernet cable and then when I USE wifi I use an Ethernet cable between the modem and the router correct ?

So whats wrong with that setup; what else could I use then Ethernet and why and would it be better and would I notice it being better ?    A friend mentioned something called " Network " then he dropped it when
it couldn t explain it so am I missing something ?

ALSO when I use the modem my ISP speed is 58 gigs; just love that but then when I want to move about with the lap top I use a netgear  N600 and I get a huge over the top drop in speed down to 26 gigs !

Is that NORMAL; do I need a better router to get better in sync with my ARRIS Modem or what ?      Can I speed up my router and if so how ? !      Just got a router this past week and was shocked at the huge speed drop off; using a router for the 1st time now to get mobile now and then .

Thanks for the help  .  .  .You generally shouldn't be connecting directly into the modem and only using the router for wireless - You should leave the modem connected to the WAN/Internet port on your router and then if you want to connect with a cable, connect it into one of the LAN ports on the router.  I would never recommend connecting a COMPUTER directly into a modem - There is no benefit in doing it and you don't get the additional security benefits of having the router acting as a firewall between the internet and your PC.

There is nothing wrong with that, that is the regular way of doing it, that sounds like your friend is just talking nonsense, Ethernet is the standard way of wiring up a network, there are no practical alternatives for the average user.

Try it with your computer plugged directly into the router and then with the router connected into the modem - See what speed you get then.  This will tell you if the router itself is dropping off the speed or the speed decrease is due to the fact you are using wireless (which is often slower by nature).

What model of laptop do you have?  It's possible the wireless card in it isn't capable of getting the full speed out of your router.Have a dell laptop using win 8.1 64 bit model Inspiron 15 3000 series hope that helps .

I am making a table comparing what should be done with what is being done, while also prioritizing the "should be done" tasks according to most important to least important.  Column A CONTAINS information that describes what should be being done. The organization descending for column A is based on Sections, not relative to priority. For example, let's say it is on chores or household duties. So Row 1 says Yard/Garage, Row 2 says wash car, row 3 says mow lawn, and row 4 says Trash cans to Curb. Row 5 may be another section such as Kitchen, Row 6 wash dishes, row 7 clean stove, etc. 

Each Row of column A does have an assigned priority value (8-1, with 8 as highest priority), however, I am not sure how to "imbed" it or assign it.  So, say washing the car in row 2 is a 6 value,  mowing the lawn is of the highest priority with a value of 8, as is washing the dishes. Maybe Cleaning the stove in row 7 has a priority of 1.

What I really want to do is color Column A with each of column A's row's color designation based on the priority value.  I would like an assigned 8 value that appears in column A to fill with a dark green, 7 light green, 6 a lighter green, and 5 a tinted lightest green. Then row 2 would be a lighter green, Row 3 would be dark green because its assigned value is 8. Row 7, due to its priority of 1 would be the tinted lightest orange.

The logic as to what has greater priority than other tasks will probably be the hardest part for this. You would need to create the logic of true and false as to tasks completed or yet to be completed still. Many people create a flow chart to make it easier to write and look back at as they are writing it. Basically each task has a priority weight, and based on the weight of others, others may be a greater priority than it itself, however if those are completed then the specific task may be the greater priority with others completed.

I created a similar setup for a scheduling spreadsheet years ago so that while I was on vacation another supervisor knew based on the output of the spreadsheet and rules I SET with weights, that one employee should be given a specific task over others, this way the most qualified dealt with there area of expertise and those with lesser qualifications were indicated on this spreadsheet to be given duties more geared towards their expertise 'easier tasks' since they were not fully trained on all systems yet for example.

I ended up making an area of logic at the bottom of my spreadsheet that the output was controlled by the input data cells at the top of the spreadsheet. * This is logic that is best completed when your very alert not something to try to create on lack of sleep or running low on coffee. Also you should test it after to make sure that it does exactly what you want it to. I tested mine and found that there was a flaw due to a typo. I fixed the typo which was buried in IF-THEN-ELSE logic and was all set. Mine was probably more complex than yours because I NEEDED logic for 7 different days of the week in which WEEKLY routines were needed to be completed offset by 1 day of other machines etc so that the weekly tasks didnt all hit on the same day.

I am using Firefox as my  browser, and my OS is Windows XP Media Center Edition v2002 Service Pack 2. My old flash player was out of date, but I have been unable to download a new version. I have been to the Adobe site more often than I can count, have gone through all of the steps, downloaded the software, but when I attempt to run it, I get an error message stating that the page cannot be DISPLAYED, etc. As soon as I close that window, I am automatically taken back to the Adobe website to begin the process anew, only to experience the same result. Then I am returned to the Adobe site, and the process begins again. And again. And again. It's like "Groundhog Day" except with computers and there's no Bill Murray.

Is there a setting that I need to adjust?I'd upgrade/update for free to Windows XP SP3 and then try again. It might be that the .Net version with SP2 is too old for Flash support.

I am USING OE 6.0. Today when I OPENED my OE, my emails in inbox were gone. Inbox.dbx still shows its size 0.99Gb. I have tried a solution of copying all of my emails folder to some other location and then RENAMING my inbox.dbx to inbox.dbx.old and importing emails from the COPIED location. This didn't work. Please help me to comeout of this problem.

I have to install Apple QuickTime in ORDER to have Adobe Lightroom working properly. That's the only reason for Quicktime.

But whenever I try to download it, it fails to download.

I check my Downloads folder, it's never there.

So me and my friends recently got a teamspeak server. A couple of us livestream and record. We wanted to make some rooms for doing this.

Currently, my goal is so that we have these streaming rooms, and basically when the first user JOINS the channel, they are assigned channel admin. I've already set up all of the channel admin permissions as I WANT, but would it be possible to make it so that when the first user joins the channel, they and only they are assigned channel admin, and then after they leave their channel admin is revoked and it's possibly assigned to someone else?

Looks like something that you would have to request the makers of the Teamspeak software to include as for a custom CONFIG like this requires access to the source code and a token based system where the first to join is the admin, and then when they leave I would assume you would want someone else in the group to be able to take lead maybe until the group closes. I would also suggest having a person in control of the server with the ability to override, and take control vs giving someone admin privileges. If it were me, I'd just assign a group leader and everyone else are GUESTS in the group, and the lead could be passed from one person to another. Features to kick people out etc could also be ADDED as well for a group leader, so they can keep out trouble makers without having someone rage out or harass and no ability to kick them.

JohnIf there was a website out there to do this, it would take a long time to convert. I just use format factory to take my DVD's and make them into MP4's for my modern Sony WALKMAN that can play MP4's when I travel to have a movie or tv series to watch. Depending on the DVD and computer that is doing the converting process it can take as long as an HOUR to convert a DVD. If there was a web based server that could do this you would be UPLOADING up to 4.7GB of data and then downloading what could be greater than 4.7GB of data as a MP4. And processing time could take a while if the server was multitasking others conversions. I'd just download this tool and use that to convert your movie(s). My biggest fear with using an online service to convert a movie of MINE is that how do you know they aren't stealing your movie etc. Thats why i like a local conversion to have control to make sure that my movie wouldnt be then stolen in digital form put onto pirate websites where its illegal etc. The software locally gives you content control as well as control on making sure that not more than 1 MP4 copy exists.Right. My question will hopefully return a relatively simple answer.

I am creating an invoice that has multiple services and prices that need to be on this one spreadsheet. The base price for each service is different which makes it easy to have the totals calculated separately. The current problem I am having is this: The price for mileage is the same for every service so I have only one row for mileage where you can insert the amount and get the price per mile. However, every time I want to only get the total of one service, the minute I type in the mileage to get the price per mile, all the other services add the amount in their totals. How can I isolate that cell to only calculate if it includes the cell that has the price for the service? Is this impossible? Am I going to have to have 7 separate cells that all say "mileage for specific service" in order to get this to stop? I apologize if my question is not clear. I have been working on this for hours. Let me SEE if I can give a better example. (The example is made up, does not have my actual information.)

Notice that D3 is used for both totals. Therefore, if I put in a quantity for mileage and quantity for first product, the second product would also calculate miles in its total. How can I isolate D3 to only work in the first total if D1 is used and same for the second total? I hope someone can help! Your problem - you need to control your totals calculations in B4 & B5 with an "if" formula.
For B4 it would say: =if(D1<"",D1+D3,"")
explanation: the formula has three parts,inside the brackets and separated by "commas".
The formula says "if the first part is true, do the second part, otherwise do the third part"
The first part [D1<""] is aying "if content of D1 is greater than null . . .
< means "is greater than" and the quote marks contain a value; in this case "nothing".
(E.G. "fred" is quote marks containig the text FRED, "0" is quote marks containing the numeric value ZERO)
So the formula is saying "if D1 has a value greater than nothing, add D1 to D3. If D1 does not have any value, do nothing.
In B4 use the same formula, substituting D2 for D1

I want to share an Excel file (staff schedule) with my staff in the next room on their computer. I want it to be a READ ONLY file so no one can tamper with it. I've gotten that far...now I need to connect the two computers so that when I make a change on the Excel file, that change will automatically show up on theirs on their computer. I tried selecting their computer name under Sharing and clicking Apply and OK, but it's not working. Right now I have the file saved as read only and it's on a shared drive. Ideally, I'd like that file to be ONLY on my computer and theirs - NOT on the Shared drive for the whole company to see. I really really need it so that when I make a change it automatically changes on their computer!

I forgot to mention that both computers are Windows XP.From your computer you could execute a batch file that could populate a folder at their workstations with the latest copy, such as create a mapped drive to their C: drives where say workstation #1 is Z: and workstation #2 is Y:, and the folder location in the mapped share to drop the file to is Z:\schedule\ and Y:\schedule. So from your system you will likely see C: as your hard drive, D: as either restore partition or optical drive, any other drives E: thru X: available for removable devices or additional future mappings, and Y: and Z: are the mappings to their workstations C: drives. From their computers they only see their C: drives and nothing more. Its a one way connection with your computer the master among the other workstations. You will just need to either remember to excute this batch each time you want to update their schedules or add this batch to a scheduled task to execute automatically as often as you want it to.

From your system the batch would then execute the following

xcopy latest_schedule.xls y:\schedule\*.* /s/d/y
xcopy latest_schedule.xls z:\schedule\*.* /s/d/y

This updates their systems with the latest copy and works on XP machines. If windows 7 etc I can show you how to do it using robocopy.

You just need to create drive mappings to your workstations
Then either change your schedule name to the file name in the batch above or change the batch to match the file name of your schedule
Then copy and paste the 2 lines into notepad and save the file as Schedule_Update.bat
Then execute this batch from within the same location as where your schedule xls file is located.
Then verify that workstations have it at C:\schedule\ on both systems
Then create shortcut to this folder or file for them to click on from desktop and your done.

Sorry, could you give me step by step instructions please? hahajust need to copy and paste the 2 lines to notepad. You can launch notepad by clicking start and selecting run and type notepad and hit enter.

You then just copy and paste the 2 lines to notepad and then select file - &GT; saveas and name it update_schedule.bat or anything else you want to call it. The file has to be saved as a .BAT if its saved as a .TXT it wont function as a batch file, but instead will just open to show your your batched instructions.

All you have to do is execute your batch file then by double-clicking on that bat file within the folder that it resides which also has to be the location of your excel spreadsheet that it will grab to copy over to both workstations.

But before doing all this, you need to create drive mappings to your workstations C: drives as Y: and Z: from your computer as well as make folder of schedule at C:\schedule\ so that when the batch is executed, all execution requirements are met. Otherwise you will get errors or 0 files copied etc.
