Well my computer, an Acer Aspire 3680 running Windows Vista Basic SP2 and a while back, it
just wouldn't boot up, with no warning, it just stopped, when i try to start it up, i come
to a DOS screen that says: "Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change
might be the cause" and more gibberish about causes, and i have two options, "Launch start up
repair", or "Start windows normally", i choose start windows, it takes me to Startup Repair
anyway, so i got there, none of the recovery tools did anything, but searching around the
computer using MSDOS, i found that the computer absolutely can NOT access C: Idk if it's
actually empty, or if can't be ACCESSED. Now on to what i did the previous time i started up
the computer... nothing, i started up gamemaker, made a few changes to my science FAIR
project, got lazy and FORCE shut the computer down, ( i never not force it down ) I know
that's bad but how would *that* do *that*.

Another thing, this computer did have a built in factory reset, and in this system recovery MSDOS thing, there is a new X: drive containing a pretty much what you would expect the C: drive to hold, is there a dos command to copy and paste everything to the C: drive? Quote

At around maybe June or July of this year my computer started to become slowly UNUSABLE until I had to wipe the whole hard drive because it couldn't even load past the windows loading screen. After the wipe it was fine until it happened again around 2 months LATER, then after that 1 month, and it seems to be cutting the time in half every time as it has only been 6 days and I am getting BSOD. The only problem that could fix this I can think of is that the hard drive when I re-install windows it says the disk will fail soon now but it didn't before. Wondering what I should do. Will update with info on the BSOD when PC RESTARTS from it.

I'm in the process of trying to do a factory reset on my PC (an Acer w/ Windows 7 64bit) but during the process it just sort of stops. The screen displays a window which says it's "Installing Office 2010" but is STUCK on step 10 / 29. No matter how long I run the computer it remains stuck on this step. The only other message on screen simply informs me that my SOFTWARE is being installed and I shouldn't turn off the computer. Any assistance would be most appreciated.I'd contact Acer for a restore media set which is either a Disc set or a Flash drive to rebuild computer from. It sounds like the RECOVERY FILES are possibly corrupt and its failing in a permanent loop during the decompression phase of the reinstall back to factory. This happens if the restore DATA becomes corrupt or the drive becomes damaged for a portion of it where the important recover data is located.Thank you very much. I've contacted Acer. I do not have no audio have plug in output when going to device MANAGER I seem not to have the multimedia audio controller where do I find this?

It is on the Dell web site. You NEED your exact MODEL number or the service tag number. The service tag is visible in the BIOS screen.

You can PLACE the driver file anywhere, but you must run the file to install the driver. And you have to reset the computer in most cases.
Do not use drivers from other places.


Works good must use model number only if put in service tag it does not bring up no audio drivers.

Since updates for my current OS have ended, if I do an upgrade to a more current OS which ONE should I do. Not sure if i can just JUMP to the most current one or if I should do Mountain lion or Mavericks before jumping directly to YOSEMITE. Here is my current laptop SETUP;

I lost my excel file a month ago, while I am moving the contents of that folder into a new one, now when i am using recovery file its saying the ENTRY was overwritten with another file, the s/w recovered the excel file but the file memory SPACE showing only 21kb and when i tried to open that file its saying the file got corrupted and it was unable to open the file, Is there anyway to recover the contents of my file. the file is important for me.. can any one HELP me please....?SEE Here...

This is an example of why flat databases should be avoided.

If this is a flat database which I believe it is, your best bet would be to export this as a CSV and then have a program restructure the placement of the data as you want, and then save the changes to a new CSV, and then open that new CSV and have your data arranged in your flat database correctly

( OR )

This may be able to be performed with a macro within Excel, however I would be very careful with macro use in Excel as for you will want to create a backup copy someplace before running a macro that will alter the arrangement of data, or else your flat database would be a worthless mix of correct and incorrect data per row.

If this is an Access database or a database of some other kind that is not a flat database a report could be easily CREATED in which you could select what columns to show info for ( ascending or descending ) and most IMPORTANTLY the data that is in the rows for the entry would all remain a child of the parent entry so you dont have to worry about your data getting moved to other rows and ending up with corruption basically in your data.

Just out of curiosity, how many data entries do you have in your flat database if this is an Excel flat database?  You could export this and import it to Access and then have a much better method for generating reports and having your data correctly listed in ascending alpha numeric order etc without risk of data being moved to wrong locations which is what usually happens with Excel flat databases.

Access and other databases reference each entry by parent and child entries. The parent entry is the initial entry which is linked to a unique identifier which is usually the primary key. The child entries have reference to the parent entry unique identifier so its like children with name tags so if you took all the children and grouped them together and they all looked similar you would be able to place the correct children back with the parents that the children go with as the best analogy I could COME up with for why Access and a real database is better.

With Excel, all children look the same but they are different, and you dont have the benefit of the children knowing who their parents are to run back to, and so you end up with a pool of data that is not referenced to the origin of it and this can spell disaster of what was once correct data being incorrect in which without a backup to refer to of a known good state, you would pretty much have to start from scratch or verify the flat database entries against say the inventory that it is for 3 of a specific item and 6 of another in which you find that you actually have 10 and then get to another item that says it has 10 in the flat messed up database that you only have 6 of etc.

I use to use a flat database years ago before I learned how to create and use real transactional databases, and its definitely worth it to learn how to create and maintain one as for the headaches associated with a real database vs a flat database are very few if properly maintained and your careful with queries which can alter data in the database as dangerously as a macro in Excel if coded up/instructed incorrectly.Dave...it's for his workplace...which is even worse than Homework...

I currently don't have an office suite installed on my PC and I wanted to try MS Office. I oppose MS Office 2013 or 365, because they are no longer in the form of a CD-ROM and I will not have a secure Internet connection for about a month (I'm using PAYG data and need a copy of MS Office ASAP). I understand that the 2010 version is almost exactly the same as the 2013 version, but I cannot find any copies of MS Office 2010 that I could obtain over the next few days. However, I have found a copy of MS Office Professional 2007 in a shop (I believe it's secondhand) for £15. This seems like a good price IMO but I have little experience with MS Office (MS WORD only). I agree. Good deal. Yes, MS support for the 2007 product has ended. But it silvery good. In fact, I still use a much older MS Office version.

For general use, a free Office suite is alright. Perhaps a friend can download one for you onto a USB drive.
Of curse, The MS Office suite is very desirable for many users.

I cant seem to get the full desktop onto the SCREEN, I cant make the display bigger, resizing the window doesn't help. when I RESIZE the window theres a white box around the desktop, I also cant change the resolution on the virtual desktop. I've attached a picture to sure what I mean

Many years ago I used Clarisworks 5.0 for Windows to design most of the logos, invoices and letterheads for my business. Since I have so many important files using CW, I have KEPT using it though it is a long discontinued item.

Yesterday as I attempted to open a CW file, I got an error that the program had been changed or moved. I tried to search for it and it has simply vanished, with nothing left behind but empty icons. So of course I can't open any my files that I need. I then take the disc and attempt to re install it. The WIZARD progresses until it's time to load the program files at which time CW disappears from the screen and is done.

My questions are- Where did the program go and why? Is there a way I can get CW to install again? If not, is there a way to open these files with another program?

DaveUnless someone deleted them, is it possible that the program was detected as a false positive by your antivirus in which it may be sitting in quarantine?

Reason why I say this is because I have had older programs get FLAGGED such as Filemaker 5 and end up with the EXE to the program in quarantine and then I have to MAKE an exception for Filemaker 5 not to be detected as bad when its perfectly fine, and the symptoms I had were similar to yours where the program vanished.That's exactly what HAPPENED and the program is now restored.

There are 2 methods that COME to mind.

#1 - Create your own program or track down an already existing converter TOOL.

#2 - Create a keyboard/mouse macro that runs the redundant task so that you can make a process that otherwise is interactive turn into an unattended process which would be a simple point and click and run it with the file to convert in a static location and the end product converted file to be dropped into another static location such as C:\convert\ and the file converted is written to C:\converted\. You simply set to record your actions and go through the process and then tell it to stop recording. Then compile the macro as an EXE file, and then you can run this exe file and the computer will run by itself.

* I have had to make my own macros before for redundant tasks, and I use JitBit Macro Recorder to create them quickly and compile them to run as a stand alone exe. This exe can then be shared with other systems to run the macro as long as the OS and environment is the same when it runs the recorded processes playing them back to the computer in which the computer takes it as user input even though your not touching the computer and its running by itself with keystrokes, mouse actions, and time delays in between each instruction to be executed to accomplish the task.

** The only drawback to using such a macro method is that while this process is happening your computer is not to be touched until the process is completed as for it takes full control of keyboard and mouse controls, and by moving the mouse or typing keys while this macro is running can cause it to malfunction as extra keystrokes are introduced or the X,Y mouse coordinates are offset by mouse movement. So when running macros, I generally have them processed on a 2nd computer so I can continue to work on my first computer.

*** Lastly, if going the macro method be sure to create a time delay before the macro actually starts. To do this I actually trigger the macro to start by placing the start of it into a batch file such as

start mymacro.exeThis gives you about 4 seconds before the macro starts to get your hands clear from keyboard and mouse. Otherwise you start the macro and the slightest movement of mouse when taking hand away can foul it up.

I use this software a lot for redundant tasks as well as data gathering off the web to be placed into spreadsheets or database entries when performing research which would otherwise be a painful manual process or require lots of programming to pull off parsing website CONTENT.

Something is hanging around my Windows 7 system that has messed up Java.  I cannot even run the "verify version" on the Java Web site.  When it runs it gets an application error:  "Class not found exception", jreverification.class   I've seen other similar problems, but this is the simplest way to demonstrate the problem.  I have removed all of Java that i can, ran JAVARA and jxpiinstall and that did not fix the problem.  perhaps there is something in the Java class path, but I don't know how to find that or perhaps there is a access privilege problem to fix.  I also searched this site for help.

I should note that firefox seems to be running well and there are lots of Java applets there, but this error or related errors still happen.

A severe infection will bust Java sometimes...what protection apps do you have...and when were your LAST scans ? ?I am using F-secure and it is always up-to-date with scheduled full scans of all my disks once a week. 

I am experiencing not other noticeable problems.  Other than these isolated Java errors which appear to be some obscure problem that Java can't find routines when it happens. OK, another clue found.  I looked up the environmental variables and found

 .;C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\lib\ext\QTJava.zip

which is wrong, since I do not have jre6 installed and there is no QTJava.zip file in the C: drive. Re-installed QuickTime and the environmental variable is not correct,  did not fix the problem. Quick Time has nothing to do with the java issues...
I suggest booting to safemode and run the latest java uninstaller...then DLoad and install the latest version.I understand what you are saying, but there was an incorrect QuickTime Java environmental variable.   It pointed to Java 6 and this machine does not have Java 6.  I have seen the failure when there is a video playing, so it was worth fixing. 

OK, re-install after safe-mode clean up, same problem.  I'm pretty sure that QTJava.zip does not actually refer to quicktime, but it's more likely a component of something else (such as the Qt framework/libraries) that was not uninstalled fully. Are you installing, uninstalling and running everything as administrator; are you experiencing this problem in other browsers; and how long has this been an issue?Many thanks for the help, however, It appears that QTjava.zip is clearly from QuickTime as it appeared when I reinstalled QuickTime.  Everything was removed and installed with the proper credentials.  The problem is consistent on both Firefox and IE.   I get exactly the same result.  The funny thing is it only happens for a few things like the Java website checking for Java and using one of the Mars lander simulators.  It has been going on for about 2 months or so. 

Well since re-installing java didn't do it then doing the same with QuickTime should be the next logical step...

Let us know,Reinstalled QuickTime, no change.  I did not expect it to change as the issue looked like my old QuickTime install pointed to Java6 which was replaced by Java7.   I think this is some obscure problem possibly with the registry and a Java pointer.  If anyone knows of a utility that can remove all Java references in the registry, I'd give it a try. this is a regular ( windows 7 bug related ) problem after successful installation of Java ( jre ) and fresh installation of Windows7 64bit or 32bit on my laptop or desktop.  what worked perfectly for me was setting  COMPATIBILITYMODE=WINDOWSNT  to make windows launch the JP2LAUNCHER.EXE  and  JAVAW.EXE  files properly.

Hi, i want to connect a wiimote to my PC with Bluetooth. I have been doing lots of research into this and everyone else can do it except me! and it's extremely frustrating so here's my issue i click "add NEW device" and it finds the wiimote just fine but when i try and connect it asks for a paring code. Which i don't have. But nobody can help me everywhere else people can click "CONTINUE without code" or just click "next" without typing a code but i cant do either and i'm STUCK on the code page... I'm really hopeful that someone here knows the code or can fix this or get around it.

Recently I've been getting this warning saying," Do you want this program to make CHANGES to your COMPUTER?" and the program listed is Privitize VPN. I clicked yes and no, and NOTHING happens; it just closes and everything is fine, but I really want to get rid of it.  I think my little sister tried to download some movie or something, but she said she cancelled downloading it. This is my first post, I am sorry if I have got it wrong.  I need some help with EXCEL. I have a spreadsheet of 66 columns and about 400 rows.  This is to identify species of timber ( the rows), from their attributes ( the columns).  I tick the column that an attribute is present, then another column where an attribute of the same species is present.  Up to 30 attributes may be present for one row, but scattered over the columns. Is there ant way of getting the software to identify the row to which all the ticked attributes apply?Excel has some database capabilities but you would be much better off importing your spreadsheet into Access which has much easier to use querying capabilities.Thanks for your suggestion.  I have considered using Access but I am much less familiar with that and there will be a learning curve. I would also take a long time to ENTER all the data. However a friend of mine has come up with the solution, which is to use the Filters tool in  Excel and that works.  Many thanks to everyone who has read my post and considered it, especially to Thank strollin. As far as importing data into a database from excel, if you saved your data as a csv you could import it to access, but you would need to learn how to create the structure of the database layout for the data to be passed to it.

I use MySQL and a tool called SQLyog for my databases, and SQLyog community edition is free and allows you to have a GUI visual tool to create, edit, and delete pieces of the database as well as run querys etc.

If I was having to import the data to a database from excel I would create a csv file and then edit this csv file with instructions on how to place the data contained inside it into the database. Then once this is done, run it and it very quickly would populate the database values into the database.

However this is not an easy task for anyone who has never done this before. You would have to be really committed to learning it and working with it.


If the data your working with just needs a search function and then ability to look up or edit info then excel might be the way to go with a 'flat database" layout, however if you want to be able to import and export data and have custom reports and custom interfaces to interact with the data with, then you really need to have a real database. The nice thing with Access is that it plays well with Visual Basic for creating interfaces for it with VBA. http://www.functionx.com/vbaccess/

However a friend of mine has come up with the solution, which is to use the Filters tool in  Excel and that works.  Many thanks to everyone who has read my post and considered it, especially to Thank strollin.

If I was having to import the data to a database from excel I would create a csv file and then edit this csv file with instructions on how to place the data contained inside it into the database. Then once this is done, run it and it very quickly would populate the database values into the database.

Whenever I RUN anything using Adobe Shockwave Player I get a message that shockwave is not responding or has stopped and asking me whether I want to continue or stop the plug in. I've tried uninstalling and REINSTALLING but have no LUCK. It still occurs. Anyone have any suggestions. I am running windows XP.

I want to move a Word document from the accessory monitor to the smaller laptop monitor. When I resized the Word document, the right side of the PAGE was inaccessible so I could not move it over. I could only adjust the other 3 sides of the page.Adobe PDF DOCUMENTS can be resized and moved without difficulty. This seems like such an elementary PROBLEM but I can't figure it out. Close the document, close MS word.
Open Word in  the smaller screen, open the document and maximize it. It should fill the screen.

Windows 7 with Live MAIL, I have 2 friends who have the IDENTICAL problem where the text on the screen breaks into dots or lines and becomes UNREADABLE.  Usually moving the mouse pointer over the text or clicking on another part of the screen will temporarily put the text right, but it soon breaks up again.  I have attached a screen capture of the problem.
This problem only seems to occur with live mail, all other programs run fine.
I WOULD be most greatful if anyone can help.

This might be a really stupid question but is it possible to use the same system image on two computers?

My computer won't turn on and I've tried to restore it but it isn't picking up a system image to restore from. I have a very similar computer available and I was wondering whether it is possible to use th system image from that or will it damage the second computer which is working fine?

Basically, can two computers use the same system image?

ok well yes it is possible to use the same system image on multiple computers HOWEVER unless you have an Enterprise license or enter a new license for each one you wont be able to activate the install.

BUT, if you use the image from another computer that is running the same version ONTO the faulty computer AND then change the key to the one that was used to activate that computer all will be well, there is NO limit to how MANY times u can reinstall the purchased OS to the same computer.

Acronis 2015 has a feature called Universal restore and allows you to restore an image from a different computer to the one you want to fix, it will prevent any "damage" to the computer as it removes all the drivers and allow u to re-detect the hardware and install drivers as needed. (I think there is a TRIAL version available)

Again tho you will need to enter the original key code that was  used to install the OS on the faulty computer.

but after that it will accept activation and will work fine.

remember that if you use the image path then you will LOSE EVERYTHING so connect the DRIVE from the faulty computer and back it up/ copy it to a different drive so you can copy it back later.

back up, back up, image, image is what u should do all the time, never trust a drive or computer if its important or simply to save yourself hours and hours always create an image just in case..

Anyone ever use this before or ANYTHING similar to suggest a GOOD auto installer?

I was looking at a new build and wondering if there was a way to make an auto installer with UNATTENDED install to where you can simply list programs, applications, utilities you want installed and run a single install process which then would take over and install it all. I found this below, and it looks sort of like what I want, but if I already have the software and its not something downloaded from the web to be installed, I am not sure if I can have it install say software I already purchased with a download and key and for it to AUTOMATICALLY enter the key and register it on the system that its being installed to etc where fields have to be populated to register software that I own a legal license for.

Your machine is very old so I imagine it's simply too old to run modern games, what sort of video card are you using with it?You haven't listed you GPU in your specs, the component that is the most decisive when asking about being able to play games. Juding by the cpu it's paired with i'd say its too weak to handle any. But yes most problems like these originate from outdated draphic drivers.

Anyone know of pros and cons to migration to MariaDB from MySQL?

I attempted a migration last night and it killed MySQL and MariaDB errored out. It got to the part where you point it to the MySQL database and it is suppose to read in the info and migrate, and then it came up with an error. I then went to see if MySQL was still running and MySQL service was stopped. I performed a Net START MySQL and it errored out. Rebooted computer, and tried again and same issue. Uninstalled MariaDB and MySQL 5.1, and called it a night vs getting sucked into a time consuming process when I need to be sleeping.

I was GOING from MySQL 5.1 to MariaDB 10.0.14  x86 32-bit for Windows MSI. ( * Maybe I need to upgrade MySQL to a newer version before the migration to AVOID the error??? )

The good thing is that I performed a backup of my database before this and so I can GET it back up and running on MySQL 5.1 which I have used without upgrading for a few years.I think I found the answer finally. I wasnt looking into Linux info and so I skipped over this. But It looks like there is a migration path to FOLLOW to be successful and you cant skip/jump from MySQL 5.1 to MariaDB 10.0.14 as seen here:

Righto. So a few years ago I bought FRAPS for recording GTA SA gameplay on my desktop. Pretty much anyone with experience with FRAPS can tell you it's been known to cause noticeable downs in framerate when recording but despite this.

Desktop Specs:

AMD Athlon II X2 240 Processor 2.80GHz
ATI Radeon HD 4200
3 GB RAM
W7 Home Premium SP1 64 bit.

Now, I don't really use that PC for gaming much anymore due to its condition and speed and I've opted to use my laptop. It's specs are:

i7 3632QM 2.20 GHz
Geforce GT 650M
8 GB RAM
W8.1 64 bit

[I play/record only when I'm plugged in and the power MANAGEMENT mode is on performance]
[I have both the game and fraps running as admin + I set them to high priority when I load them up]
[I only have one HDD, like I did for the desktop, I can get the information regarding it if you need it]

Yet, it feels like when I try to record in fraps on my laptop, it runs worse than it ever did on my desktop. Now, the game I'm trying to record on hasn't changed. It's still Grand Theft Auto San Andreas for PC so I know its not a matter of running a more high END game and trying to record. But I've been having a lot more framerate issues as of LATELY with games on this laptop that I've only been able to partially resolve so I'm sure that has something to do with it. On my desktop, I didn't have this kind of trouble and I did full size 60 fps recordings. This is my better laptop and half size on 30 fps and I can't get the same kind of performance while recording.

Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone has any tips or something that might be able to help my recording with fraps out. (Or if you got any other recording programs that won't want me to spend $30 on them or limit my recording ability (time limits, watermarks) feel free to share them. As long as it can record in something that I can lazily slap into WMM or Vegas I'm fine but I prefer to improve FRAPS considering I bought the program and want a fair use out of it and I know it works)

Many people suggest to use another HDD, but the only one I got is an external USB one bought for backup. Does anyone still think it'd be worth trying to have that in to record to?

Ok I like getting then reading free e books but a LOT of times they never say how many pages I will be printing out so that brings up this question; any one good at math I am not ?

Here goes; a standard page is 8.5 x 11 and is 64 lines LONG and 74 characters long ( spaces and letter ) with normal margins; how many pages would 1 mb be and then how many pages would 1 kb ?

Some e books list sizes as say hum 50 mb but other e books say 10 kb; but what is the FORMULA for figuring out how many pages of paper the e book size is ?

It sounds like you want to know how many pages are in a megabyte.
You can do the calculation yourself by estimating that each line is about 72 bytes. Of course, this is only for plain text with no special formatting. A text editor such as Notepad will not insert any formatting characters, except to the carriage return and line. But if you use a program such as WordPad, more SPACE is required to include the formatting instructions for such things as font size, font type and margins, spacing and possibly embedded images.
A common practice is to store well formatted pages in a file type called PDF. Expect the PDF file to be quite a bit larger than a standard text file used by Notepad. An easy way to make your calculations is to just type or copy some material in a program like that WordPad, formatted, and then save it to your hard drive. That would give you an idea of how to estimate the number of lights per page for a WordPad, rich text document. Some word processors also allow you to save the in the PDF format. Save one page of the Rich text format as a PDF file and that will give you a way to estimate how much overhead. There is with the conversion.
If you need a RULE of thumb, you can estimate that a single page of a text file using a normal font size will probably result in about four or 500 bytes per page. But what will happen is the operating system like for you is more space on the hard drive to store a single page. For better accuracy. You have to try something like about 20 pages or so to come up with a more realistic approximation.

For plain text it would be relatively easy to work out how many pages a given size text file would require. For MS Word, PDF, RTF, and the various e-book formats, not so easy. There is no "formula". If an e-book is already formatted into pages, you can simply open it and navigate to the last page and note its number. If it was a plain text file, load it into a word processor and do a page count. Alternatively, do some experiments.

How to stop a program when another program starts and start the first one when the second stops?

Basically, I'm using my Xbox controller as a MOUSE(using joy2key software). But even when i try post games it continues to behave like a mouse since joy2key is running in the BACKGROUND. I'd there a way to stop and start automatically when i play games?Perhaps it is within the software installed itself that is limited in this FEATURE as it OVERRIDES the current default WINDOWS settings since the program is an emulator.

I have a Windows 7, HP Laptop and for some reason it keeps saying that I don't have iCloud enabled whenever I click on the folder 'iCloud Photos'

I have everything enabled on my iPhone, my photo stream is turned on, photo sharing turned on etc. but when I want to get a picture on my laptop every time it say it's not enabled.

So I open iCloud control panel as it suggests, and the 'Photos' box is ticked - so I don't know why it's saying it's not enabled?

Also I used to be able to RIGHT click a pic on my PC and send it to my Photo Stream so I could then get it on my iPhone - but now I can't see that option anymore?

How does this work? I ask because it would be convenient for me to verify the image on a different desktop. Let's say I image the C drive on Computer A and store it on an external HD.  Can I now connect that external HD to Computer B to verify the image? I assume no because I am guessing verification involves comparing the image to the  C drive, but I do not know. Thanks.

I believe so, using either the Macrium Reflect user interface or the command line tool called verify.exe which you can run from an Administrator command prompt, specifying an image file or set of files. As far as I can see you can run the tool either on the original PC where you created the image, or you could plug the external HD into another PC which has verify.exe. I do not know if the tool is part of a default Macrium install, but if it is not present (probably in the Macrium program folder) you can download it from their web site.

It will return a report as follows:

Verify Success   The file contained no errors.

Verify Failure    The file could not be verified successfully. Try the verification process again using the Macrium Reflect user interface. This may give more information on the problem.

Backup set is incomplete. At least one file may be missing    This message is displayed if the --set command line switch is used and at least one other file required to restore this file cannot be opened and/or located in the same folder.

Password Error    The backup file is password protected and/or encrypted and the supplied password is not correct.

Yes, I know you must verify. That is not my question. I am not sure how to make myself understandable on this. I really don't understand. If you verify it when it's created there is no need to "re-verify" it.

I understand. He is imaging his sister-in-law's computer at her house and then taking the external HD back to his house. He said that rather than wait the extra time that verification imposes he would find it convenient to do it later after he is back home. I agree that generally you might as well do it at image creation time, for one thing you are on the spot if there is a verification problem. If there was one, it could be caused by something on the PC being imaged, like bad RAM, or bad leads to the drive, or else corruption on the image storage medium. If you take the image away and get a failure on a different PC, you have more possibilities to sift, and you will now have to go back to the location of the imaged PC to investigate.

Not interested in hanging around any longer than I absolutely have to.

I have a HP Pavilion with Windows 7. I noticed an icon amongst my desktop icons (I will insert screenshots for this post) called search PROTECT that I WANT to uninstall and I think it came as a sneaky add-on from a download or something.
The program doesn't show up on Programs and Features for me to uninstall, however I did find the FOLDER containing the program in Local Disk (C:) > Program Files, and I tried to delete the folder but an error message shows stating that it cannot be deleted because the program is in use. I have no idea how I close this program to delete it or whether there is another way I can delete the program?
(Btw I have closed all programs when trying to delete this but it still shows up that it is in use)
I would really appreciate it if someone could help me because it's messing with Firefox as everytime I go on a site - even youtube, facebook, etc. - it will redirect me to a dodgy page asking me to "UPDATE my video player" when I know everything is updated.

I have a charting software called Market Analyst, I want to be able to generate charts using free 3rd party data from Cooltraders. i have successfully downloaded end of day data and Market Analyst says the data is there and it is in a supported format,[Metastock] but I have been UNABLE to get a chart of the data, I think it may be that I have to get the data entered on a STOCK by stock basis but how to do It?

On my desktop with windows 8 I can't ACCESS the web from either of my browsers: ie and mozilla.

The internet works fine on all other DEVICES.  I flushed the DNS, re set the MODEM, restarted the PC, did ipconfig and release.

I attempted to use a software program the other day. The software creates charts that I would use for my business. I would enter my information into the software, based on what type of chart I would LIKE to create. Then I would click on "create chart" when I do this I receive an error message: [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found & no default driver specified.

I've searched Google to no avail. I deleted the program using a uninstall program & reinstalled. I contacted the software company and emailed them a file they asked for. Still no luck.  I just searched this forum as well

Hopefully there is an easy fix for this. Can anyone help please.

I am trying to use some of the APPS provided with my new SYSTEM and download more like piccasa. I am asked to link these to a microsoft account. I try use the one after I boot up and allows me to use 8.1, but it says passwords don't match. I have tried to create new ONES and I keep getting the same MESSAGE "what am I doing WRONG?"
