Solve : Hyper V issue? |
Answer» I am getting this error when trying to start Hyper-V-VMMS. Have you read this over? unfortunately YES I have. That was one of the first things I tried. beyond that I have removed that service and reconfigured it with no avail. The issue is that the VMMS is failing to start because of a certificate error. the above link is used only if you can not connect to the virtual system. For the virtual system to be running the vmms needs to be active. So you're on the latest Service Pack for Server 2008 (SP2) and have downloaded latest updates for the OS and Hyper-V? Check the Event Viewer for the first occurrence of this problem. Also see if an update was installed before then. If so, try removing it and rebooting. Also check this: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd582526%28WS.10%29.aspx ...meaning make sure the VMMS Service is being started as a user with RIGHTS to the certificate stores and anything else necessary. Start -> Administrative Tools -> Services -> right-click the service, left-click Properties -> Log On tab. Quote from: killerb255 on July 28, 2010, 02:22:36 PM ...meaning make sure the VMMS Service is being started as a user with rights to the certificate stores and anything else necessary. Start -> Administrative Tools -> Services -> right-click the service, left-click Properties -> Log On tab. the answer to both of your first questions is that yes I have checked and those ore correct and no updates were installed when this started happening. as for the quoted MESSAGE from you above Yes I have the local System set as the log on. If I change it to my account I get "the user does not have the required permissions" errors. |

Solve : One user cannot access internet but all other can.? |
Answer» Ok got a fun problem that I might be over LOOKING something simple hope you guys can help. I have a net WORK set up for 40 people the server is Server 2003 and the terminal is running xp pro the user cannot get on the internet but can still connect fine with my mail server that is running the same software. but all other uses that log into that terminal can access both. help... oh yeah wanted to TELL you nothing has been changed on the server and the user's internet was work 2 weeks ago. Check for malware on server and client? Check for malware on server and client?no malware on either server or client. the machine is fine when other users on logged into it. found no unauthorized programs on the computer. the only thing on there is what comes installed on Win xp pro and Office 2007 is on there as well.when that user logs on to other machines, does it give you the same problem? (Are you in an Active Directory Domain?)yes I am in a Active Directory domain and i was told that she is still unable to get on the internet when she logs on to another computer. I will double check that to make sure tho.log in to her machine with an administrator account and try deleting her local profile (after backing up any saved files) and then have her log back in. There could be some corruption in her docs and settings folder.ok I logged on to her computer and everything worked fine. logged her on to another computer and her internet worked GREAT. ok so I'm going to back up her local user profile. If i delete her from the computer will it remove the programs that might have been installed by her?Go to C:\Documents and Settings (Windows XP) or C:\Users (Vista & Win7), and rename her user folder. Shouldn't actually have to delete it unless you want to. It won't remove any programs you have installed. Those should all be stored in your program files directory. Quote from: michaewlewis on September 01, 2010, 09:11:19 AM Go to C:\Documents and Settings (Windows XP) or C:\Users (Vista & Win7), and rename her user folder. Shouldn't actually have to delete it unless you want to. ok big problem I can rename move any other local profile but the one i NEED to. i have logged on as the domain admin and the local admin and can not rename or do anything to that profile. no matter what user is logged on the computer still uses troubled accounts NTUSER.dat text file and NTUSER data file. any clues why? the error i get is file is in use close file and try again. What is the name of the folder you're trying to delete? Can you show me the directory contents of C:\Documents and Settings\ or C:\Users\ (depending on OS)? Check the security settings on that folder and make sure you have complete access to it with whatever account you're using. You might even need to change ownership. I was able to get it after a little work had to go into safe mode under local admin to change anything to do with the trouble user account. but one i got the named changed everything worked just fine have to do some work on her email now but should be good thanks for the help. this one was just buging the crap out of me. |

Solve : copy registry key to disk? |
Answer» Hi GUYS Can anyone guess what he's attempting to do ? ? ?Quote But I don't know about your other specifics... I kinda expected this though Come on guys, his request might be legit. I've had to copy registry keys from pc to pc a few times on my network. He could be working with some custom software that requires it. Quote from: mrbishman on September 12, 2010, 05:36:47 AM Hi guys Sounds like you're wanting to make an application portable. Check out this link: http://portableapps.com/node/16261 Also: http://www.vmware.com/products/thinapp/don't worry... it's all very legit! lol Basically I work with a piece of printing accounting software in my workplace. when the software is installed, it addsa few files to the C: drive, as well as adding a connection string registry key to the system within hkey_local_machine -which provides the credentials for connecting to an sql database (also set up during the installation software). I GET a lot of call from customers who decide they want to backup the system and its data and migrate it over to a new server - and i want to create an application that does this, and which would involve the following steps: *Stop IIS and Print Spooler services * Copy 2 folders from C:\Program Files *Copy a specific registry key from tree within hkey_local Machine. Once the software has been initially set up on the other server (takes 4 minutes with an .exe), I want the application to replace the files on the C: drive with the backed up files - likewise with the single registry key. Comprende? lol It's easy to copy registry... The only issue, as meationed, is the key/values might not work on another computer depending on settings and locations. It's a bit odd to do this unless it's backup, tweaking, etc. Go to the registry editor: 1) Start > Run > type 'regedit' (without the QUOTES) and enter. 2) Location the key or folder of registry keys/values and select. 3) Go File > Export 4) Save file as something.reg and copy that onto the flash drive or where ever for backup. 4) Simply double click the file to import the keys or your application could also call this file. Hi What I'm thinking about is creating the interface in visual basic, and then using scripts to carry out all the procedures, rather than having to do each part manually. Is it possible to copy the registry keys using script? If so, do you know what kind it would be? ie.e VBscript, Windows scripting, etc. Quote from: mrbishman on September 16, 2010, 01:24:47 AM Hi hmm... I would suggest reposting your question in the computer programming section of the forum. I don't know how many programmers regularly check this section and you would probably get a better answer from them.Well I'm not the best with VBScript, etc, but if I remember correctly... HKEY_CURRENT_USER or HKCU HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE or HKLM HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT or HKCR HKEY_USERS HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG Quote Dim objShell, Value Hope that will help or at least give you an idea. |

Solve : LOGONSCRIPT!? |
Answer» Hey everyone.. salmon trout: In the advanced properties for the task, the "schedule" tab has a Combo box LABELLED "Schedule Task ". Choose "User logon" in this box. This option will also be selected if you select "When I log on" in the scheduled task wizard.I dont think i've got that option.. here's a print screen: Quote from: gucciluc on August 20, 2010, 01:56:03 AM I dont think i've got that option.. Change it from "Once" to "User Logon".Dont have that option either.. here's another screenshot: again, i dont want that specific application to run on the server! i want it to run on the clients.. this is so tricky=( Quote from: gucciluc on August 20, 2010, 03:12:59 AM again, i dont want that specific application to run on the server! i want it to run on the clients.. Quote from: gucciluc on August 18, 2010, 04:20:53 AM I have a windows 2003 server running and in my logonscript i want to make an application run 1 time whenever a client logs in.. Looks like we got derailed into Task scheduler which probably won't suite your purpose. Let's think here. you want to make an application run every time somebody logs in. your logon script runs when somebody logs in. your logon script can contain instructions and can be changed. conclusion: start the program from your logon script. What do you have in the script now? Or do you need one? Here's some info about creating and editing logon scripts: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc758918%28WS.10%29.aspx i already have a logonscript.. im not a programmer so please dont laugh lol ill skip all the rest from my logon script and only paste the part i want to make it run once when my client logs in. its simply: start C:\program files\blablabla\bla.exe im sure there are ways to make it so that the above command runs only 1 time.. but its very hard.. Thanks very much for ur help, now lets get going, any more idea's? That should work... the logon script should only EXECUTE when somebody is logging on. Quote from: gucciluc on August 20, 2010, 03:22:53 AM "C:\program files\blablabla\bla.exe" Using Task Scheduler, this is the scheduled task thats runs once when any user logs in. No need for a batch script. By the sounds of it, you want the action to happen on the first time a user logs in, but not on subsequent logins, is that right? If so, you could look at using Group Policy and things like the RunOnce registry key. Or you could make a "flag" that the logon script looks for to determine if it has run or not. Would you need it to run once per day / week / month etc, or just the once? |

Solve : Windows Server 2008 R2 Graphics card? |
Answer» I'm trying out windows server, want to see how it all works and get some experience. One thing I've noticed it's nothing like Windows 7, it does not automatically INSTALL everything and it doesn't seem to work with wireless. Server 2008 R2 works really well in a virtualized environment. Why not just install Windows 7 on your box and then host Server 08 in Hyper-V? Save yourself from the headache of incompatible drivers. You know what, may be I should do that... I'm not familiar with Hyper-V but, google has an answer HAHA, I've SEEN it somewhere. Solve : server 08 enterprise vs HPC? |
Answer» Hey guys, my main intention is to get my programs to compile faster using Visual Studios 2010...Unless your programs are several millions lines long, that won't take long enough to justify such a upgrade. clustering is used for database servers, not for development or build machines. Also, take a look at the Nvidia tesla technology. It's basically a small cluster stuffed into a pcie card. http://www.nvidia.com/object/tesla_computing_solutions.html Quote from: BC_Programmer on February 04, 2011, 10:39:22 AM Unless your programs are several millions lines long, that won't take long enough to justify such a upgrade. program is only about 250 lines, but has to process over a million calculations. with each calculation taking about 5 seconds because it needs to compare a result with an array with size about 270 000 using binary search. so you can imagine how fustrating it is doing this on a CORE 2 duo 2.2ghz machine when VS2010 limits the max process it can use to 50% of CPU max, which is good so my computer doesnt freeze but i need more grunt. maybe i should look into using a different search method but regardless it will still take a long time without a cluster Quote from: michaewlewis on February 04, 2011, 10:48:09 AM Also, take a look at the Nvidia tesla technology. It's basically a small cluster stuffed into a pcie card. Thanks mike, ive seen this one already, isnt it meant for graphics clustering? i need this for mass calculations Quote from: michaewlewis on February 04, 2011, 09:20:03 AM You can only get HPC if it is preinstalled on a computer. (Are you thinking of datacenter edition?) to begin with just 10, but if this still doesnt improve my speed much i may have to set one up at work use all our computers there haha Quote from: Khasiar on February 05, 2011, 04:07:02 PM program is only about 250 lines, but has to process over a million calculations. That has NOTHING to do with compilation speed, then. Quote with each calculation taking about 5 seconds because it needs to compare a result with an array with size about 270 000 using binary search.A binary search of 270,000 elements would only take 17 iterations. an Imperceptible time- certainly less them 5 seconds. Clearly you are doing something wrong, or not explaining something; the binary search is clearly the less time consuming part of your "calculations". Quote VS2010 limits the max process it can use to 50% of CPU max, which is good so my computer doesnt freeze but i need more grunt.VS2010 doesn't impose any limitation on the CPU usage of your process. But with a Dual core, you are going to have to have at least two threads (one for each core). This same restriction is imposed in a cluster- you cannot have a single process suddenly parallelized simply by running it on a cluster, it needs to have discrete chunks so that it's work can be divvy'd up. Quote maybe i should look into using a different search method but regardless it will still take a long time without a clusterBinary search is one of the most efficient methods. From the sounds of things, you aren't using it. If it takes that long on that configuration it sounds more like you are doing a sequential search, not a binary search. Quote from: Khasiar on February 05, 2011, 04:08:25 PM Thanks mike, ive seen this one already, isnt it meant for graphics clustering? i need this for mass calculations Take a further look at the page I linked to. There are several references to C, C++, and floating point kinds of stuff. I'm not a programmer but I know programming lingo when I see it. It does more than just graphics. Quote from: BC_Programmer on February 06, 2011, 08:52:48 AM That has nothing to do with compilation speed, then. definetly a binary search... while (first <= last){ mid = (first + last) / 2; if (word == dictFile.at(mid)) return true;//if else{ if (word < dictFile.at(mid)) last = mid - 1;//if if (word > dictFile.at(mid)) first = mid + 1;//if }//else }//while im creating possibilties to be checked against my DB (dictFile) which takes less than a quarter of the time it does to check against the DB, again my DB is 270,000 elements and my possibilities are into the millions, ive managed to reduced the checking time by splitting my DB into smaller files and checking when necessary so its about a second per calc but with millions of calcs i need this to be faster and i think it comes down to faster processing speed... if i had lots of cash to spare id just go buy a 50,000$ supercomputer but i think itll be cheaper to setup a clusterClearly you aren't using an Actual database, otherwise you could just run a query on it. Sounds like when you say "database" you really mean "text file with data inside". It doesn't come down to faster processing speed. It never comes down to faster processing speed. Quote from: BC_Programmer on February 08, 2011, 08:33:12 PM Clearly you aren't using an Actual database, otherwise you could just run a query on it. Sounds like when you say "database" you really mean "text file with data inside". Do you have something against me BC? yes it is a text file with data inside but a database doesnt need to be in SQL format: http://searchsqlserver.techtarget.com/definition/databaseDefinition database database is a COLLECTION of information that is organized so that it can easily be ACCESSED, managed, and updated. In one view, databases can be classified according to types of content: bibliographic, full-text, numeric, and images. if it never came down to processing speed then why do universities invest in such machines? im not saying my program matches the complexity of a program that can graph movements of atoms but it does require processing power. imagine processing the following: if x = 4 x! (x * x-1 * x-2 .... *x-(x-1) = 4*3*2*1 = 24 if x=11 x=39,916,800 now try and make each of these 39,916,800 elements different to all the rest, and check them against a DB file, yes a DB file. tell me, even if your computer was processing 100 calcs per second against 270,000 elements using a binary search it would still take 399,168 seconds 6652.8mins 110.88 hours 4.62 days who has that much time to wait for one instance of a program, and this is only with x as 11. my intention of x is about 200 consider that x = 25 = 15,511,210,043,330,985,984,000,000 currently im doing about 2 calcs per second which means for a size of 11 i would take 50* 4.62 days = 231 days Quote from: Khasiar on February 09, 2011, 02:15:48 AM Do you have something against me BC? yes it is a text file with data inside but a database doesnt need to be in SQL format:No. Quote database is a collection of information that is organized so that it can easily be accessed, managed, and updated.A text file is none of those things. Quote if it never came down to processing speed then why do universities invest in such machines? You are taking what I said out of context. The solution to a slow program shouldn't be "get a faster machine". That's just lazy. Universities and large corporations get powerful computers because their calculations are entirely intractable otherwise. Quote imagine processing the following:It's a factorial. So? Quote now try and make each of these 39,916,800 elements different to all the restWhat "elements"? Why are you generating 39 million elements? What are they elements of? Quote and check them against a DB file, yes a DB file.If by "DB" file you are referring to a text file, then, I repeat- that is your bottleneck. Quote tell me, even if your computer was processing 100 calcs per second against 270,000 elements using a binary search it would still take100 calculations per second is 100Hz. Don't know how you managed to get a machine like that. Quote who has that much time to wait for one instance of a program, and this is only with x as 11. my intention of x is about 200I STILL don't see how factorials fit in or why you are generating a number of items equal to the factorial of some other arbitrary value. Either way, even if you wanted to take the brute force approach and just throw more Ghz and the problem, you are going to have to somehow parallelize the process of... well, whatever it is you are doing. And, since File IO cannot be parallelized, I am going to guess that you will see very little improvement. Instead of throwing more Ghz at the problem, why not perform some actual profiling of your application and see where the most time is spent, and write that area better? I managed to speed up my game's framerate by a factor of 3 by changing a single line of code I would have never even suspected without the use of dotTrace. |

Solve : Client computer not updating Group Policies? |
Answer» ok did a move about two weeks ago from an old Small biz server 2003 to server 2008 R2 we had a file redriect going for the mydocs on the old SBS 03 server. MOVED all the files to the new R2 server and told the GP that the new home folder was on the new R2 server. olny about half of the client computer did the switch the other half are still looking for the old server to sync offline files with and it is really lagging down their boxes they can't do anything with out the computer looking for the old share folder. we have changed the GP to disable Offline files and have taken off the redriection of the mydocs folder. and still the computer will no update the GP even if i go into the computer and do the /gpupdate/force it says everything was updated but still doing the same stuff. I know its not a computer problem if i log on to the computer with my account everything is updated and works like it should but log in with any of the troubled users accounts and they still look for the old server don't see any scripts running on their AD profile or anything. I am very lost. Oh all Cleints are running VISTA Biz with all UPDATES and service packs. Ok fixed this problem just in case anyone else ever has it here was the fix I cam up with. I'm glad you figured it out and you came up with a fix..... now, how is that different than what I told you to do? |

Solve : Active Directory Domain Services changed user accounts.? |
Answer» On my Windows Server 2008 Enterprise, the AD DS I installed hid the user accounts in someway and I can't log in to them. The files are still there and reg. files say where the files are but the login is gone. There may be a filter in place. Look for a "funnel" icon & see if it's on. If not your accounts are probably deleted. Try hitting refresh. If that doesn't work, do a search to find the accounts and locate them that way. do you know how to bring them back, or is that not possible. Sure, remove Active Directory. When you install Active Directory, it disables all of the local accounts by design. Pretty sure there's no way AROUND it. But you should still be able to create domain accounts and use those to log in. Quote from: Robert Tabiano on February 22, 2011, 09:37:23 PM so i just have to bring it back to where i purchased it? What? Not sure if removing AD will bring back the local accounts he created. It will bring back the default local accounts. Like michaelwlewis said, you can just create the accounts again but this time as domain accounts. |

Solve : boot to cd setting? |
Answer» I am working with a computer recycler and a machine is causing me mild grief. It is an IBM x-series 206, running server 2003. As part of our process we WIPE the drives, reinstall and try to sell them. Keeps all those nasty metals out of the landfill.
I changed the first cd drive that it came with and put in a newer dvdrw drive. Both drives work, I tested the cd drive in another machine, and pulled the dvdrw from a working machine. What bootdisk are you using and how did you create it ? ?I have tried Ubuntu 10.10, UBCD and WinXP Pro. I made new disks of all of them to avoid scratches. Quote from: patio on April 19, 2011, 10:13:21 AM What bootdisk are you using and how did you create it ? ? You can't simply "copy" a bootable CD...doesn't work. Quote from: patio on April 19, 2011, 01:58:30 PM You can't simply "copy" a bootable CD...doesn't work. I am way past the point of thinking I can copy a disk image to cd and wondering why it is not working. By "made new disks" I meant I burned the .iso and CREATED a bootable cd, then I restarted the computer with the cd inserted, after I made the dvdrw the first boot device. Now, about original problem... |

Solve : product key help? |
Answer» msde2000 office cd how do i find the pk from the cd i searched and typed unattend.txt searhed it with disk inserted on d drive no luckDo you have a BACKUP? Do you have a backup? Not necessarily, alot of things get packaged differently for different countries. My Office 2007 had the product key printed on the front of the CD itself. (I remember, quite clearly, opening the case, putting the CD in the drive and looking EVERYWHERE on the CD case for the product key. Plenty of head scrathing, then had a 'DOH' moment when i took the CD out of the drive, to take it back to the shop, and put it in the case, only to have the 'key' staring at me from the front of the CD)I'm pretty sure when Geek says it's "not on the CD" he means that the content of the CD has nothing to do with the product key. Some people seem to get it in their heads that for every CD that MS sends out there is only one product key that works, but that isn't the case. Ah, of course reenahsc1965, check all the packaging (CD case) and front of CD. Where have you had this CD from??Try looking for UNATTENDED text file on the cd when open look 2/3rd down you will find your cd key Best way to look for unattended.txt is press letter U on your keyboard til you find this file. Quote from: it.assure on March 27, 2011, 09:36:34 PM Try looking for unattended text file on the cd when open look 2/3rd down you will find your cd key The OP is over 3 months OLD, i dont think there interested to be honest.Actually they are no longer even a Member. |

Solve : Moving to different hosting provider exchange emails stopped working ?? |
Answer» Hi Expert To point your mail service to us, you should CHANGE your MX record of your domain to point to your server's hostname. For example, if your account is hosted on sitegroundXXX.com, then you should change your MX record to: sitegroundXXX.com. Quote Don't forget to put a dot at the end, otherwise the mail will not be pointed correctly. For instance on the exchange server I CONFIGURED this : ns1.sitegound.com.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,here is dot Is this right ? http://www.siteground.com/tutorials/email/email_mx_record.htm Quote Select the domain name for which you want to alter the MX record from the drop down menu.I have got two domains : line.com.au and lakmos.com Which one should i alter ? Quote You need to define the priority and the web address of the mail server. Then click the Add New Record button.Under 'Add New Record' option what should I choose for 'Destination' ? THANKSI had a similar problem about a year ago when I moved to my new web host. I just reported the problem to the support and managed it for me.. easy game |

Solve : Windows Home Server 2011? |
Answer» can WINDOWS home server 2011 be used as a server and a personal pc at the same time? http://www.zdnet.com/blog/bott/how-microsoft-can-clean-up-the-mess-in-its-home-and-small-business-server-business/2744(Click on link above for FULL story.) BTW: There are bistros of Linux that have long been used as servers. But you already knew that. Didn't you?well i found Windows Home Server 2011 for $50, or windows 7 home premium for $95. i figured if it could be used like windows 7 then it would be cheaper. http://www.amazon.com/Windows-Server-64-bit-English-Builder/dp/B0050TVAWS/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top http://www.amazon.com/Windows-Premum-System-Builder-Version/dp/B002NGJO4M/ref=sr_1_6?s=software&ie=UTF8&qid=1313616329&sr=1-6 Quote Newegg Drops Price of Windows Home Server 2011 to $49.99 http://www.wegotserved.com/2011/07/18/newegg-drops-price-windows-home-server-2011-5999/ Some visitor comments seem to suggest that as a server OS, it has quite a lot of limitations, others are less severe, but one says: Quote At that price, it's the cheapest version of Windows you can GET. No reason you can't use it as a general purpose OS. Change the processor priority to foreground tasks, dump IE and its restrictions, and off you go.For anybody non this thread, the following is required reading: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Home_Server_2011 The information on Wikipedia is not clear, but then the MS PR is not either. The speculation was the Windows Media Player would be part of it. The question is: Can Windows Home Server 2011 be the low cost OS for those who do not to buy want Vista or Windows 7? Quote from: Geek-9pm on August 21, 2011, 03:25:51 PM The question is: Can Windows Home Server 2011 be the low cost OS for those who do not to buy want Vista or Windows 7? And the answer -- which I thought I had given -- is "yes". With some reservations.. http://www.itproportal.com/2011/08/03/microsoft-punting-windows-home-server-2011-poor-mans-windows-7/ Quote
You can use a pair of pliers as a hammer, but that doesn't mean it makes a very good hammer. Long term I think you will be better off with win 7. Quote from: rthompson80819 on August 21, 2011, 04:23:44 PM You can use a pair of pliers as a hammer, but that doesn't mean it makes a very good hammer. A pair of pliers isn't a modified version of a hammer, it's a completely different tool that takes advantage of a lever, while a hammer is designed for direct application of torque. Additionally, a pair of pliers isn't necessarily cheaper than a hammer, nor are they easier to acquire. Aside from the analogy, you've not demonstrated in what ways WHS is so much different that it makes it a bad idea in the 'long term' for home use.I've never used Windows Home Server so I'm not the formost EXPERT on the OS, however based on some of the comments from other posts, and some of the links posted here, here it sounds like there are some limitations and compatibly issues. Why not spend a few bucks more and get a fairly stable OS like win 7? If we were talking big bucks between the two OSs then I might have a different opinion, but in the overall scheme of things $45 isn't that much.ok..i will get win7 Quote from: rthompson80819 on August 21, 2011, 11:30:07 PM I've never used Windows Home Server so I'm not the formost expert on the OS, however based on some of the comments from other posts, and some of the links posted here, here it sounds like there are some limitations and compatibly issues. Some limitations (some people allege) as a server OS, but I think many of those objections are based on personal preference. WHS 2011 is built on the Windows Server 2008 R2 code base, which is the "server version of Windows 7". They were developed in tandem, or "lockstep" as some commentators put it. Windows 2008 and hence Home Server will only run on 64 bit cpus, but as far as I can see that may not be a big problem these days. Using Windows Server 2008 R2 for gaming is not unknown... see sites such as this one: http://www.win2008r2workstation.com/ Quote Using this manual you will be able to use Windows Server 2008 R2 as a lightning fast Workstation which allows you to use applications, develop or play games better than you ever could on a home user Operating System like Windows 7 or Windows Vista! Quote Convert your Windows Server 2008 R2 to a Workstation! Lots of "Yes" and a couple of "No" entries... http://www.win2008r2workstation.com/win2008r2/games Personally I think an OS that is Windows 7 with knobs on, all legal and on a pressed disk, for the price of a medium size pen drive, is a steal! Of course it may not suit Joe Sixpack-type non techie users, but if you are willing to have a try, and can do the research, why not? This may represent a new turn in the marketing used buy Microsoft. The resonating may be this: Many home-built users just don't want to spend $120 on Windows 7l but at about half price for a 64 bit bare OS they will buy. MS will increase the volume of their sales while professional users with go with the nigh price version. Quote from: Geek-9pm on August 23, 2011, 01:39:56 AM MS will increase the volume of their sales while professional users with go with the nigh price version. Most people get their copy of windows when they buy their PC. Most manufacturered PCs do not come with Home Server. Quote from: BC_Programmer on August 23, 2011, 07:18:50 AM Most people get their copy of windows when they buy their PC. Most manufacturered PCs do not come with Home Server.Right. So the sales of the Home Server will not undermine the main revenue. The Home Server will be bought by individuals who build there own PC. So this will be gravy for MS, inasmuch as it is not really a whole new product for the MS development people. It consists of parts of stuff they already have. Predictably, MS profits will go up, not down, by lowering the price of a niche product that failed to enter the mainstream channel. Too bad I am broke. Would be nice to buy some MS stock now. Quote from: Geek-9pm on August 23, 2011, 12:05:55 PM Right. So the sales of the Home Server will not undermine the main revenue. The Home Server will be bought by individuals who build there own PC. So this will be gravy for MS, inasmuch as it is not really a whole new product for the MS development people. It consists of parts of stuff they already have. Nope again...you're logic is flawed... They cannot possibly make more money on a ""niche"" product that i'm assumong had the same development costs as the Premium product... Just an observation. |

Answer» Please help me out..I am getting hard time for this particular Error ASAP...How can I resolved this issue on server (Step by step in detail) Try the followings, hope help you! Also check the time on both client and server (should be the same)Did you RESOLVE this problem? I'm now experiencing this and it's a right pain... Quote from: red400r on October 18, 2011, 05:04:20 PM Did you resolve this problem? I'm now experiencing this and it's a right pain... Try to figure out if the problem is affecting certain users or certain computers. Check the Event Logs on both the client PC and the domain controller. Are there any Event IDs you can research? This SOUNDS more like an Active Directory/DC server problem, but you should first ensure that the client PC is not at fault. First log on the problematic Windows client machines with the local administrator account and ensure that these hosts can communicate properly with the apprpriate domain controller (e.g., use the ping command to verify connectivity), then remove the computer from the domain and ADD it back in. Is the problem still occurring? If so, TEMPORARILY disable all the security-related software (firewall, antivirus, antispyware, etc.) on the clients and try again. If the problem is still occurring, you need to start checking the DC and Active Directory (for example, check that the relevant Computer objects are in the right Active Directory sites to ensure they are trying to CONTACT the appropriate domain controllers). Here are two Microsoft pages to get you started: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/949048 http://blogs.technet.com/b/askperf/archive/2007/09/25/troubleshooting-server-hangs-part-one.aspx (http://blogs.technet.com/b/askperf/archive/2007/09/25/troubleshooting-server-hangs-part-two.aspx, etc.). |

Solve : Microsoft Office for Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition SP1 32-bit? |
Answer» GUYS I need your help. I'm looking for Microsoft Office versions that are compatible with Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition SP1 32-bit. Currently I found only Microsoft Office 2003 and Microsoft Office 2007. If you know other Microsoft Office versions, your input would be greatly appreciated. You might be interested in volume licensing: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee624349.aspx I have successfully installed a trial version of Office 2010 Professional Plus in a VM of Windows Server 2003.Thanks! Actually I'm handling 41 servers but I'm not the one who installed the OS. Another question, is SP1 is included already when you install Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition? Or is it a DIFFERENT update or patch like the SP2? My point here is that my clients are responsible for the said software (Microsoft Office) and license key. All servers are Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition. So I will give them recommendations. Microsoft said that I can run... Office 2003 in Windows Server 2003 Office 2007 in Windows Server 2003 with SP1 Office 2010 in Windows Server 2003 with SP2 and MSXML 6.0 (32-bit Office only) |
