Solve : Excel Cond. Formatting: if value >x,shade red. but it also shades " |
Answer» I have a SPREADSHEET with a large SET of numbers/values which includes "<" values (i.e. 1, 1, 2, 1.1, 0.1, <1, 1, 4, <3, etc...). I'm trying to get Conditional Formatting to shade CELL values if they are greater than a value (i.e. shade cell if it's value is greater than 1)... this works great for numbers, but if the cell has a "<" sign in its value, it GETS shaded. |

Maybe you need to give us much more information... e.g. a link to a page where you get the problem occurring, which browser you are using etc etc. OK, i will try to recorate the file as you say, so it will be to-morrow night as i have not done it ti-night.Bikini Babes? So i'll add the web url after downloading from now on. So everyone ONE has learnt a little today from this thread |

Solve : Black Screen after windows updates? |
Answer» Ok I have a Toshiba Satellite L745, I have reformatted the hard drive, it's a clean install Windows 7 , all is good until I update windows and it CONFIGURES then the screen goes black. oddly enough you can use an external display monitor and it works fine but the display on the laptop is black. Tried uninstalling the driver and reinstalling the driver from toshiba website but the same thing happens. Any one have any Ideas?update ... I now have installed all updates for windows 7 and service pack 1.. when I boot up now most of the time it works fine but every so often there is a strip of HORIZONTAL colored line down the right hand side of the screen. Also sometimes right after the windows logo it will go black and reboot..when it boots up again it works. Sometimes also I can POWER off and power back on and it takes me to the logon screen. ??Does it do the same on an external monitor ? ?Does it happen in SAFEMODE also on the laptop screen? I does not do the same on external monitor and it does the same in safe mode on the laptop. That's odd as the same thing happens in safemode but not by the external monitor. Maybe reseat the ribbon cable for the LCD screen? I am not sure that its a possible inverter problem or GPU chipset basing on your post but not impossible. Does your laptop is built-in with any hardware diagnostic for RAM and Video testing maybe? hi |

Solve : New problem with new machine? |
Answer» In my NEW machine I USED a MSI motherboard which came with an onboard sound card by Creative. Part of the included software was a program called "Wave Studio", used for editing sound recordings. When I open a .wma or a .mp3 FILE into Wave Studio and later try to save it as a .wav file I get the response "Insufficient disk space". What's that all about? I can CREATE .wav files from other programs but not Wave Studio.. Just on a hunch. Do you know how to get Audacity and install the MP3 thing? Yes, I use Audacity quite a bit. I can export from there in either mp3 or wav, no problem. I use Wave Studio as a speedy way to edit volume, pitch and length of different music pieces before I burn them to CD. Then I have to save it as an .mp3 file then convert later if I want wav. Also when I am recording I use it to adjust mike sensitivity. I find that Audacity is really useful. Sometimes I will use it to add or subtract verses from a piece of accompaniment music. We do a lot of entertainment at different "Homes" for shut-ins mosts of which are elderly, like us, and some of the music we do is comic rendition of the original and requires some modification. I can get along without Wave Studio but I would appreciate any help you can give me to get rid of this problem. Thanks again JIMP.S. I am going to be away from my computer the nexr several days so I will not be able to try any "cures" that you may suggest till I get it going again, JIMQuote from: Geek-9pm on November 19, 2010, 09:25:37 PM Give us more background, Jim Yes, that is correct. Now I am using Windows 7, 64 bit. JIMYour response seems tp confirm my hunch. Wave Studio does not get along with Windows 7, 64 bit and mulch-core. Make sure you have the XP emulation mode for the program. I am not won Windows 7 at the moment, so maybe somebody else here can guide you. I think that is the problem. As I recall, there is only other problem with memory space, but I don't remember how you fix that. That is all I can think of. I see somebody else is typing. OH, so my hunch was right. dig into the XP emulation thing.Quote from: Geek-9pm on November 20, 2010, 08:14:18 AM I see somebody else is typing. OH, so my hunch was right. dig into the XP emulation thing. How can you tell if someone else is typing?? And how do I check the "XP emulation mode", thing?? Quote from: jim.mar on November 19, 2010, 12:58:42 PM When I open a .wma or a .mp3 file into Wave Studio and later try to save it as a .wav file I get the response "Insufficient disk space". This is a known issue with Wave Studio and Windows 7. Possible workarounds: 1. Open the wma or mp3 file in WaveStudio. Do the editing you want. Create a new empty file in WaveStudio7 (File/New) and copy the edited file into this new empty file. Now hopefully you will be able to save it. 2. Saving the file as Microsoft ADPCM is reported to work. 3. Get Audacity, which is free and reportedly works fine on Windows 7, although I am not sure if it supports all the formats that the Creative product does. Still at least it works. Quote from: Salmon Trout on November 20, 2010, 10:55:49 AM Possible workarounds:2. Saving the file as Microsoft ADPCM is reported to work. Great. That works. Saving the file as "microsoft ADPCM" results in a .wav formated file. Thank you so much. JIMThank you, Salmon Trout. Both of you. |

Solve : Nero 7 works where Nero 9 does not.? |
Answer» I recently assembled a new machine and installed Windows 7. I equipped it with an ASUS CD and DVD burner which came with Nero 9. My old machine had Winows XP and USED Nero 7 which worked quite WELL as I burn a lot of music CDs and DVDs. Problem, all of the CDs that I burn using Nero 9 will not play in one of my CD players. They will play in my wifes radio/CD player and my computer but not in my commercial Karaoke. Both Nero 7 and Nero 9 put out the music in CDA format regardless of whether I "add" them as WMA or Wav format products. |

Solve : Issue with a Microsoft Publisher document? |
Answer» This post is more in line with a request for "why does this happen this way" event than trying to solve something. I am posting on behalf of my wife that has had this event occur. Some preliminaries: a Cisnet desktop that has the same Microsoft publisher version plus a more recent version installed on it. Multiple versions of Publisher on the same machine? How does it know which version to use? Quote from: Salmon Trout on January 02, 2013, 03:24:50 PM Multiple versions of Publisher on the same machine? How does it know which version to use? Nice catch ! !...Yes i think so too (and wondered why she has that). I shall ask and find out why and how if at all she defines which one is accessed? Your not going to like this ==her answer was "how would i know". OK so i want to remain in the mutually beneficial relationship we have had for over 50 years. So you will appreciate my reluctance to prod any more in that direction. However i would point out that even under those circumstances the ability to install/transfer/access/read the data is without issue if it arrives on a floppy. So i don't see how that could be an issue re flash drives and not a floppy. By the way the same version 2002 is on both computers and 2007 is additionally on the Cisnet. To the question why have both on the Cisnet the answer is= because i am concerned that there are functions that are available on the 2002 that are not available on the 2007 (however at this point when queried she is NOT aware of any). I would have a hard time trying to persuade her to remove the 2002 version from the Cisnet because there is validity to that argument from my personal knowledge. I continue to use a very early version of Easy CD creator from Roxio because it contains a component (which i use often) that is not a component of all the later versions. truenorthI can understand hanging ONTO old valued versions but there can be issues when different versions of the same software are installed side by side. In fact many programs check for earlier versions, including (I thought) MS Office and its components. Quote Your not going to like this ==her answer was "how would i know". OK so i want to remain in the mutually beneficial relationship we have had for over 50 years. So you will appreciate my reluctance to prod any more in that direction. I certainly got a chuckle outta this one... |

Solve : Firefox copy files - no installation? |
Answer» I just have a quick question. I was going to use the chat, but noticed that it's gone. Anyway, I am doing a custom windows 7 installation image and would like to include firefox as a preinstalled app. My question is: Can the firefox files simply be COPIED without installing and still work? I know some programs will work fine if the files are copied and others need to be installed first.http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable You want to use MozBack instead of the method above... I thought MozBack was for profile data, not the app itself. I interpreted the OP's question as how to preinstall firefox on the computer. Is that a wrong interpretation?Yes, I was talking about the app itself, not the profile. Would using the portable version have any limitations? I'd rather use the full version if it works without being installed. I think I might just test it on a comp without firefox and see what happens. It's pretty fully featured, a few things though are by default disabled (like disk cache), so you may not like that... http://portableapps.com/support/firefox_portable#modifications for the major changes. Then i mis-understood...my apologies.Quote from: Linux711 on December 29, 2012, 05:20:05 PM I'd rather use the full version if it works without being installed. I think I might just test it on a comp without firefox and see what happens.I think it must be installed. I wonder whether there's a way it could be installed in Windows 7 for your custom Win 7 installation disc. In other words, the Firefox files would not merely be included with the installation of Windows 7, it would actually already be installed in Windows 7.Quote I think it must be installed. I wonder whether there's a way it could be installed in Windows 7 for your custom Win 7 installation disc. In other words, the Firefox files would not merely be included with the installation of Windows 7, it would actually already be installed in Windows 7. That may be possible. I was thinking about making a reg file and then IMPORTING into the registry on the installation disk, but I was unsure if it would simply be HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Firefox or if some other unknown entries would also have to be included. I finally settled on just running the installer for firefox with a batch file that automatically executes on first boot after setup. I used the -ms parameter so it does a silent install of firefox.Do some reading on "unattended install" setup tools... May help what you need in future...As far as I can tell, Firefox stores very little data in the registry. Most of the "non-portable" data, such as profiles, is stored in %APPDATA%, which is what GET's "portablized" by a portable installation. I believe this is taken care of by the portable launcher.Portable or not the App still needs to be installed... It will not run by simply copying files into an installed OS. |

Solve : Excel - Don't allow saves on sheet 2 but can save changes on sheet 1? |
Answer» I have a little calculator of sorts that hides rows and information based on ENTRIES in CELLS A1 and B1 on sheet 2. Problem is things get messed up when another user returns to this sheet and cannot see data previously entered in these 2 cells due to conditional formatting which hides needed rows. If those 2 cells would always revert to zero when saving or going to another sheet all will be great. I'm not an expert so please go easy on the lingo. |

Solve : Index Office Outlook 15 emails.? |
Answer» Google Desktop search doesn't index the outlook 15 emails. Your post doesn't make much sense. You have a total of 15 emails in Outlook? You're going to have to explain your scenario in more detail.I'm guessing that because office 2010 was office 14, office 2013 is office 15. Quote from: thezanny on January 07, 2013, 11:29:55 PM Google Desktop search doesn't index the outlook 15 emails.Isn't Google Desktop DISCONTINUED? Regardless, is outlook's built-in search not sufficient for you? I'm pretty sure that windows search (included in windows 7, downloadable for XP) can index and search outlook emails. Google Desktop is discontinued. The inbuilt search isn't fast enough. I'm talking about searching from about 12000 emails. Back with the Google desktop, it took only seconds to find the right email since it INDEXED all content too. But since Google Index doesn't catch up or detect Outlook 15 / 2013, I'm in a mess. I've tried Copernick Desktop search but it didn't detect Office 15 neither. Quote from: thezanny on January 09, 2013, 01:15:42 AM Google Desktop is discontinued. Given how new office 2013 is, it might be a while before Copernic desktop has support for it. I doubt Google Desktop ever will. Have you tried Windows Search at all? Another choice might be to tell outlook to use compatibility with older file formats (if there even is such an option, i don't know what options outlook 2013 has) |

Solve : Excel 2010, determine the contents of a Sheet tab to use in a formula.? |
Answer» I am using Excel 2010 in Windows 7. Is there a way to determine the name of the current sheet as it appears on the tab from a function? For instance, if I have a sheet named "Month 2", I want to use that 2 in the "=Month()" function to indicate that it is February. I am designing a Workbook for users for an entire year, 13 Sheets. The 1st sheet is a cover sheet Containing among other stuff the active year. The remainder 12 sheets CONTAINS the 12 months. I don't want user interaction to fill the month on each sheet. Is this possible? I know the other option is to put a formula that will differ from sheet to sheet. Still, it will be great if there is such a function. I have GONE through all existing functions, and if it is there I've missed it. PS. There might be a way in VB, but I don't want to use macros. Then, I believe your objective is not possible. Basically, you want to automate the naming of sheets. I believe developing a macro is the only way to do this. Functions alone can not do this. Thank you for your response Soybean. Sorry for an unclear explanation. However my objective is possible. I found the solution by using: =CELL("filename",D1) as a small part of a BIGGER formula. The sheets are already named "Month 1" to "Month 12", I extract the "1" for January, the "2" of "Month 2" for February, and so on. |

Solve : Is antivirus software that important?? |
Answer» Well, Well, Well done, here's a star *In my opinion, antivirus software can and should be completely disregarded if people would take a little TIME to learn how to USE sysinternals tools. I haven't installed any antivirus software in about 4 years now.Quote from: Linux711 on October 19, 2010, 11:52:50 AM In my opinion, antivirus software can and should be completely disregarded if people would take a little time to learn how to use sysinternals tools. I haven't installed any antivirus software in about 4 years now.Well, that's you and you're entitled to your opinion. But I urge anyone and EVERYONE else reading this to ignore his advice. AV software should be installed and run resident by EVERYONE.I figured most people wouldn't AGREE. Have you ever tried sysinternals and/or nirsoft tools?Yes. What do they have to do with protection ? ?Quote What do they have to do with protection ? ? Nothing, but they are the best at removing viruses. As for the protection, firewalls and not randomly running unknown exe files.Quote from: Linux711 on October 19, 2010, 12:41:48 PM Nothing, but they are the best at removing viruses. haha they can be used to remove viruses but... A:) you need to know what you are doing, and B:) it takes a large investment of time and effort to use it for that, as well as knowing what you are doing. You can't just "learn how to use Sysinternals tools" (I better point out that I doubt you are going to be using contig or handle to remove viruses, it's mostly procexp's ability to suspend processes that comes in handy here) you are going to need to learn how to use them to remove viruses; the general method would be to first identify all the "bad" processes, suspend them ALL, then kill them all. After that, you delete their files. So we need several steps- First, you need to know how to identify unwelcome processes. Do you truly think anybody can do this? Some people get shaky knees when people mention exe files. Most don't know the first thing about them, nor which ones are included with windows and which ones are part of drivers and software packages, it's silly to expect them to know how to identify malware processes, especially since they could easily piggyback on other processes like winlogon anyway, in which case they would also need to know how to use the DLL view and be able to know which processes have loaded "bad" dlls so that they can be forced to unload said Dlls, and then you'll need to suspend that thread because chances are the virus simply inject a piece of code into the host process to reload the dll when it recieves it's DLL_DETACH message from windows via dllmain(). Meanwhile, you can avoid almost all of this hassle by simply running malwarebytes, or even better, use a background AV. Additionally, you assume that a PC's owner is the only person to use a machine. This is often not the case. Do you truly expect that people should learn how to use procexp and simply let their children/grandchildren roam free on the internet? using process explorer to remove a nasty infection can often take hours. Should they teach their kids/grandkids/grandparents how to use process explorer? Seems like a huge waste of everybody's time, all the grandparent wants to do is play some bejeweled and they're being lectured on how to identify malicious processes. I thought that was the freaking job of a AV program? It is. Quote from: Linux711 on October 19, 2010, 12:41:48 PM Nothing, but they are the best at removing viruses.Do me a favor, go spout your nonsense regarding anti virus software somewhere else. Quote from: Linux711 on October 19, 2010, 12:41:48 PM Nothing, but they are the best at removing viruses. I keep getting smacked in the face, i don't why, but i know how to use a band-aidI think he's talking about prevention and sandboxing. Of course, the only way you can ensure your computer is 100% secure would be to disconnect it from any outside (the internet / network) or new sources (transfering data between). The firewall is your best defensive against getting anything on the system, you can do some extra things like sandboxing applications so they don't affect another, disabling auto-run, etc, but the virus scanner is still an important tool required for today's computering. Estimates suggest that up to 40% of personal computers are infected with some form of malware program (lots of people don't know or even ignore it, learning to live with the issue). 90% will have had contact with adware or spyware in it's lifetime. Still no security is still better than installing a fake antivirus program, over 30 million are infected by trojan injected 'security' software. I recommend getting a trusted Virus scanner / Firewall, even if your just playing one solitaire game all day long and not going to risky sites. It's a pretty good investment for your computer's health. Source - infection rate: http://www.zdnet.com/blog/security/report-48-of-22-million-scanned-computers-infected-with-malware/5365 Source - fake software: http://www.pandasecurity.com/homeusers/media/press-releases/viewnews?noticia=9394This thread is very old. Is that of any concern? What if your computer shot bullets at you? Or gave you Malaria?Quote from: Geek-9pm on October 20, 2010, 12:34:06 AM What if your computer shot bullets at you? I'd shoot back. The problem with troubleshooting is that trouble shoots back.Symantec came with the laptop I got from HP which also uses Vista, ugh. The Symantec has worked well, I think. It updates itself and so far no problems for almost 2 years. I have recently for some reason gotten a Macafee Virus Scan that has started up on its own. Not sure why. If it does not, can you recommend a free antivirus program compatible with MWB?MalwareBytes is not a full fledged anti virus app. It should be used in conjunction with one. There are many free good options including Avira, Avast, Nod, etc. You may also want to look at paid AV's and decide which is best for you.In addition to Allan's comments. You certainly have not made a bad decision to have and use Malwarebytes on a regular basis in addition to any virus software you might use. Today i performed a routine scan with Malwarebytes on a computer that is running a free version of Avast anti-virus with all the latest virus definitions and in spite of that malwarebytes found 4 items not found by Avast. In addition an anti virus program should be installed to be running constantly when the computer is on so as to detect any malicious item before it can get on the computer. Malwarebytes can only be RUN at a user demand so it is not in a position to prevent an infection. Only to detect and remove it after the fact.truenorthQuote from: truenorth on February 17, 2013, 05:50:03 PM Malwarebytes can only be run at a user demand so it is not in a position to prevent an infection. The Pro Version I paid for runs constantly & has successfully blocked malware while I've been surfing. Just thought you might want to know. Thanks to both of you for your input.Quote from: fordee9r on February 17, 2013, 10:44:52 PM The free version of MWB is an on demand version. The Pro Version I paid for runs constantly & has successfully blocked malware while I've been surfing. Regardless of whether it's the free or Pro version, MWB is NOT a replacement for a full anti-virus suite. It even says so on their website and on their forums (in responses from staff, not regular users). Quote Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is not meant to be a replacement for antivirus software. Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is a complementary but essential program which detects and removes zero-day malware and "Malware in the Wild". This includes malicious programs and files, such as viruses, worms, trojans, rootkits, dialers, spyware, and rogue APPLICATIONS that many antivirus programs do not detect or cannot fully remove. It is important to note that Malwarebytes Anti-Malware works well and should run alongside antivirus software without conflicts. In some rare instances, exclusions may NEED to be set for your specific antivirus product to achieve the best possible system performance. http://helpdesk.malwarebytes.org/entries/20818081-does-malwarebytes-anti-malware-replace-antivirus-software http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=103380 http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=88398 The differences between free and Pro: 1. No real-time protection in free version. 2. No zero-day threat protection in free version. 3. No website protection in free version. 4. No automatic updates in free version. 5. No "fast" flash drive scans in free version. http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free/fordee9r, I appreciate the distinction of performance that you have pointed out. I must confess i only use the free version so i assumed (often not the best thing to do) that the paid version behaved in the same manner. I do AGREE with the others that urge the install of an anti virus program as well. The critical point in that regard is to NEVER run 2 anti virus programs at the same time. truenorth |

Solve : Flash BIOS Toshiba Satellite A200-223? |
Answer» Here's my problem:
Thank you all in advance for helping!!! iacobusA BIOS flash will not wipe the password on a laptop...and may render it un-bootable at all if it's the incorrect flash. For BIOS password recovery on laptops it NEEDS to be taken to a Toshiba Service Center to retrieve/reset the password. Be prepared to show proof of ownership as they will ask for it.Thank you patio. If ANYONE know the latest BIOS version for this Toshiba Satellite A200-223 or a good modified, I would be thankful Meanwhile, I'll try to contact Toshiba for technical support. One thing to try is to remove the CMOS battery for about 5 - 10 mins and see if this will reset your bios. Quote from: cwhartley on January 17, 2013, 07:09:36 AM One thing to try is to remove the CMOS battery for about 5 - 10 mins and see if this will reset your bios. This will do nothing to the password on a laptop...it's stored in a different ROM. This is by design. |

Solve : Windows 7 cpu gadget not displaying percent of usage? |
Answer» Im running windows 7 sp1 6gb ram core i3 2350m . I've used the regular CPU Meter gadget for months. I presume this is not the same as your "black glass cpu meter". I've had no issues with it. However, we do now need to weigh using gadgets vs. using a 3rd party app due to the security issue patio mentioned. The regular cpu meter works and shows the percent, but the black glass cpu meter aint showing it. its post to us the same coding as the regular cpu meter. Black cpu meterIf it's not working replace it... I copy the en-US folder from the cpu gadget that windows 7 has and pasted it in the black glass cpu meter folder over writing the en-US folder and it has the percent readings now, it just the percent font isnt the same that the black glass meter had, but its good enough. |

Solve : wmv.z01 ....z02, etc & zip advice on suitable extraction tools and how to???? |
Answer» Quote from: Salmon Trout on February 17, 2013, 02:41:22 AM I have done some tests, and subsequently some RESEARCH. 7zip does not HANDLE multipart zip files created by other compression utilities including WinZip. I apologise for misleading people by saying anything different.Thank you for your research and your reporting. I actually found a source forge forum and then spent 15 minutes trying to register. When I finally found it and entered my information, I never got a confirmation email. So I emailed them, explaining the multi part archive problem and the registration issues. I never got a response. But thank you again, for yours. I was beginning to feel like the kid who knows the next door neighbor is an alien, but nobody will believe me. Good 'digging' on your part. I'm disappointed I never found the information myself. Quote from: patio on February 17, 2013, 06:02:20 AM Although i don't have any native ZIPPED files to test on you may want to try WinZip...as i said it's worth a shot.As I already mentioned, I have, ultimately, managed to extract the files using the trial version of WinRar. I have been told that the trial version of WinZip only lasts for so long before it ceases to work, and I assume the same thing about WinRar. I was merely looking for a free alternative I could suggest, and I assumed 7Zip was it. Lesson learned, and thanks for posting. I strongly suspect that the WinZip and WinRAR multipart archive formats are exclusive to them, and are going to stay that way, for fairly obvious commercial reasons. WinRAR's "evaluation period" never actually runs out. 7-Zip- the program- is perhaps the Archiving program I dislike the most. I consider it more a "sample" of how to use the 7-zip libraries, rather than a application in and of itself- and for that purpose it works well. Personally I use PowerArchiver, which has worked quite well for me. Not free anymore, though. (It has no TROUBLE opening multi-part zip and RAR files from WinRAR and WinZip). This thread is long with text and short with understanding. We NEED a clear demonstration of how to ZIP and nUNZIP. Could a clever video help? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LTz_HOqhbW8t help? Does that help? Correct on WinRar...it just shows nag screens without registrgation... WinZip i'm not sure of but the last time i took it around the block i believe it stops approx. 1/2 of the features of the Full ver. At any rate glad you found a solution . |

Solve : not enough memory in EXCEL? |
Answer» I have an EXCEL workbook that I have been using for years. When doing some editing today on a sheet the 'not enough memory' message came up. I tried to delete some sheets and charts no longer needed but could not do that. This computer has Windows 98 and I am using EXCEL2000This may help: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/313275Thank you soybean. It explains the limits in Excel and I appear to have exceeded ONE of these limits. I had got over the problem temporarily by deleting some charts. However, today when I created a new chart, links to the Sheets disappeared and I cannot find them. It looks as though today's edit is lost and I will have to go back to the .bak version. I will then implement what is advised in that very useful link you PROVIDED. I have made some progress since the LAST post. I used in Edit the Delete Sheet to remove some additional charts. The Sheets were still not on the bar so I closed the file and then opened it again, presuming that process would clean up the memory and other activities. That worked. So I now have a worksheet with the updated editing, and knowledge of how to prevent the problem re-occurring. Thanks, soybean."Not enough memory" has cropped up again in this Excel 2000 workbook. I started to Move some of the Sheets to another workbook, as I did last time. However, I tried to resume that process today but when I loaded the spreadsheet the message came up, a wineglass appeared and the spreadsheet did not load. I went to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/305498 and carried out the procedure to refresh Office as this was supposed to fix the memory problem. It did not for my Windows 98SE SYSTEM and Excel 2000. |

Solve : Hotmail problem...? |
Answer» ... which I bring up here because I don't think the problem is with Hotmail. The problem exists on my VISTA Toshiba laptop, but not on my ACER laptop or my desktop. I open Hotmail and go to my INBOX. Then, after opening a message, it displays for a moment, then automatically takes me back to the INBOX. After one or two more tries, it stays on the message. I've performed malware scans, used CCLEANER, and defragged. The problem persists. I've had the problem for months, but just treated it as an annoyance, as the laptop isn't the PRIMARY used COMPUTER. But after digging a bit, and I couldn't find the cause, I find myself curious. Thanks in advance for any ideas. Tried more than one browser?truenorthChecked mouse/touchpad settings ? ?Thanks guys. Will check the pad settings - that may be it. |

Solve : Charts in Excel 2007 dissapears? |

Answer» Hi Everyone Have you installed the MS Compatability Pack? If not, try this link. http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=3The Compatability Pack is not APPLICABLE to this situation. It is for users of older versions of Office (2003, XP, 2000) who want to be able to open files created on later versions (2007, 2010, 2013) versions of Office. Since the two versions of Office involved here are Office 2007 and Office 2010, the Compatability Pack does not apply. Edit: cwhartley, upon reading lau's 2nd post again, where he mentioned Office 2003, I see why you suggested installing the Compatability Pack but, again, he does not have an earlier version of Office, so it does not fit the situation here. lau, if you could attach an Excel 2010 file (could be fictitious data) containing a chart to a forum post, I could try opening it in my Excel 2007. This could provide some confirmation of whether this apparent incompatibility is not just an issue with your particular edition of Office 2007. HI Everyone Thanks for the replies - but the strangest thing happend the user did something (she doesn't know what) and now all of a sudden its working. All the charts are shown when opening the file on her pc. I wish I knew what she did. P.S - I'm a girl |
