Hi, i downloaded a game today and it said inorder to play it i needed to download Intel GRAPHICS! So stupidly i did, and when i was installing it said if i WANTED to overwrite the newer version i already had in my computer and install the older version and i stupidly pressed yes. but i was still unable to play the game, and once again i stupidly UNINSTALLED the Intel Graphic. Then this box started to pop up and it said "The file 'wADV07nt.sys Intel(R)AIM Drivers TV Disk is needed, Type the path where the file is found. there was already a link tht went into windows and to where the file is supose to beh so i pressed "ok" but nothing happened. When i PRESS cancel it just pops up right after! HELP!!!Which operating system are you using? Can you run a System Restore?

[glb]Flame[/glb]This Intel Graphics sounds like a DRIVER update. Go back to where you downloaded it and download it again.It is actually. Many of those cards have the Intel Exteme Graphics module installed. It helps with TV output and changing your resolution. Helpful in some way....

If they would be, then I would consider .GIF extensions to be come a serious threat.

Hello all users,
I am back to tell you all that i resolved my problem with my COMPUTER's op. to refresh your memory, I had POSTED a topic about my windows op was locked up during setup which was titled problem with windows xp pro setup by pop12. If anyone has had a similiar problem the only solution I found was to use the original recovery discs to reload the op and programs that were on the computer when it was purchased. The problem I had was I was not PROVIDED with the recovery cds when I purchased the computer. The solution I came up with was to go to a web site where HP has support services and there i found a real time chat window and was able to secure an order for the recovery cds for my computer. Now I am surfing once again and I wanted to thank you for your helpful support especially GX1 guy.

I have not used my scanner in a long time and I have been trying to send my cousin some letters written by my Grandmother in the 1950's. I scan the LETTER to the computer and it comes out a PDF. file. I then try to send the letter by Yahoo mail as an ATTACHMENT and wait and wait and wait....nothing. I then tried to send it in a ZIP file and still I wait and wait with no results. I have a phone line, Windows XP and a pentium III computer. The file is 4kb unzipped. What am I doing wrong ? Maybe it's a Yahoo 'thing' with attachments, as a workaround you could upload the file onto the net & let your cousin download it from there.

however when i play the mp3 in QUICKTIME it works? *censored*? i REALLY thought an mp3 is an mp3 until now...Sounds like a codec issue to me. As I understand it, different programs, e.g. WMP10 and quicktime, use their own codecs. So, just because quicktime will play a particular mp3 does not mean Windows Media Player or some other program will play it.

I've experienced this with video. I either use Windows Media Player or PowerDVD, the software that came with my DVD-ROM drive, to play videos. I recall a case where a vidoe would play on one but not the other. The one which would not play it displayed a message saying something about a codec.

You can probably resolve this issue if you can determine what codec you need and where to get it. Sorry, I don't think I can help you much in that matter. The whole codec arena is still a BIT of a mystery to me. I would probably use Google to do some searching.alright, thanks for the info. I have been trying to remove a GAME from my computer that did not load PROPERLY. But when I try to ADD/Remove from the control panel it SAYS the the log file is not valid or corrupt and than it does not allow me uninstall it. I use Windows XPTry repairing the registry... Find such a program on download.com ...

Take a note of where the game files install to on your computer.
Then if the uninstall still won't WORK, manually remove the files from the installed location.
Then run a registry CLEANER (Registry 1st Aid).
Then do a search of your registry for key words relating to the game and remove the entries.
If in doubt, don't play in the registry.

If it's new and you are having hardware problems it is not LIKELY to get better. If it is software even Microsoft will not help you, only Toshiba as they are the OEM vendor.

My spybot RESIDENT checker is having a a small problem. This only happends when it asks me to allow system reg CHANGES. I have tried streching the window, but it will only expand vertically. I haven't found anything on google yet, but I'll keep looking. I'm running Spybot v.1.4 , and I don't recall it working properly in the past

In response to the two comments recently received, this problem existed before I upgraded to XP Home from Windows 2000. I hate to use System Restore as I don't wnat to loose my XP Home and the problem existed befor I hd this installled. And yes, I have been clicking Apply and then OK consistantly, both as user and Administrator. There is a difference, I believe, in what these two buttons do. I currently have NAV 2004 Professional installed on my older, Windows ME computer (with 128 lousy MB of RAM). I'm getting the pop-up that I need to update. Should I get NAV 2005? I would just update or whatever, but I am not too keen on giving credit card info over the computer ( ). I've heard horror stories about NAV 2005 and thought you all would know best.

Also, since I am here and it is semi-related, how hard is it to install more RAM? I'm not too computer smart... could I do it?

[GLB]Flame[/glb]Sorry! Forrgot about the second part... lol Installing RAM is actually the SAFEST and EASIEST upgrade that a computer user can complete (as far as hardware). All you have to do is make sure that you have the right tyep of RAM, and that you do not exceed your maximum amount of RAM. That's all!

1. RAM is very sensitive to ESD.

2. Other hardware, such as Hard Disk Drives and IDE cables, might be making it difficult to install more RAM if you have a normal ATX case.
3. If there is not enough space to work in, you will have to exert quite a considerable amount of force on the RAM stick, which will result in additional pressure on the mainboard. If the mainboard is not properly fastened, damage due to pressure may occur.


But don't worry! It's very easy for most! Also make sure that you ground the electricity from youre body before touching any components. You can do this by touching the INNER METAL FRAME of your computer.

Does ANYONE know anything about OMNIFORM SOFTWARE. After scanning a form into OmniForm, OmniForm highlights in yellow on the form all the areas where there is a blank line that needs to be FILLED in with TEXT. Once in a while Omniform does not highlight a blank line. I am trying to figure out how to get OmniForm to highlight the line so I can fill in the text.

I now have double the folders in my folder list in OUTLOOK 2002. I have 2 Archive Folders, 2 HOTMAIL folders, etc. Is there a way to get RID of one of them?

Ok my problem is that I have a template that I am to send to a user with voting buttons on it. I then want the user to click a voting button and FILL out details on this template. The problem comes on the reply from the user, it returns a BLANK email so the original template is not shown and the user can not enter details on the template.

Does anybody know of a way in which you can make outlook import the message body(my template) from the original message into the message body of the voting RESPONSE? I don't mind messing with code, I have a bit of experience with VBA in word and Excel.

I found an article that was similar to my problem on another forum and luckily their SOLUTION can be adapted for my needs. My ATI all in wonder pro wont seem to capture video anymore. I went to ATITECH.com and tried so many drivers it's UNREAL, but am THINKING it's XP.
Here it is... PII 400mhz, 640mb ram, 20g HD, XP Pro sp 2, all functions except capture work. Has a tuner, and actuallt tunes to the TV channels, but when it goes to display them, freeze.... capture video from the camcorder...freeze. and so on. The problem is this PC went from 98s.e. to M.E. upgrade and the capture was fine. Now I go to XP (full as new O.S.), and it freezes. The only difference outside of OS is a little more RAM.
I guess I lost the correct driver, the disc the ATI came with NEVER worked, last time I got the driver from ATITECH.com, but am having no luck getting the one for XP. Yes I tried the same driver for M.E. again.
Any tips on PROPER driver replacement proceedures needed here?, or is there just no such driver for xp when it comes to the "all in wonder pro". Did you get te black screen ......when you held down the f8 key on booting.........*.restarting pc while hold down the the f8 key on the keyboard*OK I did the f8 and picked the last good config option. Went into WINDOWS and tried to download MOZILLA FIREFOX. Same problem, went to pay and received the "page cannot be displayed" message again.

jimbel What you need to do is Uninstall Media Player 10, and then DELETE ALL Windows Media Player 10 files.. After, you need the download link to Player 9 from Microsoft... This should make things work for you...

I also got given some ALBUMS in MP3 format by a friend, but they're all in one (albumwrap?) - is there a program I can use to cut them into seperate songs?

Free CAD programs on Windows are very variable in quality, and I don't think any of them quite lives up to Autocad. You could try some from >this list<.

For DVD editing, Windows Movie Maker is a popular place to START. You can then burn with DeepBurner.

For all things audio, try AUDACITY and Audiograbber.

[glb]Flame[/glb]The registry scanner you showed me was a trial version and I could only remove 20 entries at once. I would prefer freeware rather than trials.Easy Cleaner by Toni Arts (sp) is OK but it doesn't seem as thorough as the paid ones like RFA.
Easy Cleaner does have a few extra buttons to play with though. I saw Easy Cleaner being compared on the Registry First Aid website. I was allready wondering as to why the price said 0What about the link to PC world I gave you? There were free porograms on that PAGE if you SCROLL down...

I have a long list of folders in the same dir, which I want to rename.
They are all called:

001_files
002_files
003_files
and so on

I want to remove the "_files", so the result would be

001
002

and so on

And to those who might ask... - yes, its folders from saved webpages

The folders with spaces in them, didnt get renamed! Like:

"001_files" was a success - it was renamed to "001"

But "0 02_files" (space between the zeros!) didnt get renamed!

If you need any other info to make batch, please just ask... thank you very much for helping me out Batch files are written for specific purposes and generally HANDLE the incoming data based on a particular format or pattern.

First you posted the folders were all named 001_files, 002_files, 003_files etc. I responded with an answer that covered the situation.

Then out of left FIELD you posted that there were embedded spaces in the folder names (ie. 0 01_files, 0 02_files, 0 03_ files). Again I responded with an answer that covered the situation.

Now you've posted that in addition to embedded spaces, there are also special symbols in the folder names.

Since I have no idea what bombshell is coming next, I suggest you WRITE a script where you can inspect the data and sort out any eventuality.

whenever i try to use software to convert .AVI files to mp4 for my IPOD video, or on to VCD, it gets to about 40% completed then the computer suddenly shuts down, no WARNINGS or anything. I have tried different software (videora, nero, cucusoft) and all end the same way. i had no problem using the same software for same PURPOSE before, and i don't know what has changed.
i have heaps of room on my hard-drive, i regularily clean it out. what can i do?!??As a TEST to confirm this is not a hardware overheating issue, take the side of your case off and point an external fan toward the computer and then try the procedure. Any difference?i don't have a fan, although this sounds like a good suggestion. any other ideas to check overheating?Check your system temps, graphic card temps, etc. What hardware do you have?

I can't even see allow or disallow & I can't remember which was which.
I've fired off an email to spybot along with the screenshot so I guess it will get fixed up in the next release. Until then I've disabled it on all my computers.I have no such problems as I use Firefox and not Internet Explorer. ActiveX provides no trouble for Firefox users.

I have swiftly tried and configured Spybot S&D on Windows ME and it runs very well.

Just TELL him to go to http://www.whatismyipaddress.comdepends if U want to know ur private or public IP address. (ur private IP usually starts with 192.168.0.XXX). NORMALLY if someones wants find out their IP address, its usually the private IP their looking for.

if u want to know ur private IP heres how...

1. click on the start menu
2. SELECT run
3.type in "cmd" without the quotes
4.type in "ipconfig/all" without the quotes
5.look for "IP ADDRESS" and thats ur private IP address

dl65 If he's trying to run some type of server he's going to have to setup a static IP.
www.portforward.com should help with setting up a server.

When running a program such as Norton Anti Virus and defragmentation, my system locks-up and dose not allow me to PREFORM the required function to completion. ie. when defraging it gets to a certain percentage locks-up, when running NAV it get to certain files and locks-up. I am running on Win XP PRO.

Can someone please let me know what my be my problem?

That's the thing,When I use the fdisk,i get to a screen that say's.your drive mu=ight be ntfs,it doesn't have fave fat32,or if I need a thrid party disk,at one time this drive was used by a company.The keystrokes I asked about are to see if I can format or not.mac7.......Ok .....So you WANT to do a format ..........Then if you want to format C drive ........

Recently, I wanted to add my comcast email account to outlook, so I added the account using the following tips: http://www.comcast.net/help/faq/index.jsp?faq=EmailOutlook17742. I had no problems with this and then i used the askdavetaylor tips to hook it up through outlook 2003.

I can send messages okay through my comcast ACCT via outlook, but anytime I hit send/receive the messages MEANT for my comcast account get put into the inbox instead of filtering into my comcast subfolder in the inbox. Here is the rule that i used for my comcast email account (it's the same for my other email accts in outlok):

Apply this rule after the message arrives where my name is in the to or cc BOX and with [emailprotected] is in the recepient's address and on this machine only, move it to the comcast folder.

i just recently installed windows xp home on my other pc. it doesn't have virus PROTECTION on it right now. i wanted to install mcafee from my other pc, but i DONT know how i should go about it. i was thinkin bout the file transfer wizard THING, but wasn't sure if that was the same as installing. i GOT mcafee on the pc im using now through aol or when i bought the pc. (can't remember i got it a little over a year ago) i dont wanna pay again since i already have it. i also dont wanna put aol on my other pc since i dont really need it on there. both of my pc's have xp.

Just today my COMP started acting weird. It keeps locking up on me and I think it might be related to Adobe Acrobat Reader 7.0, but I'm not sure. The lock-up always seems to occur when I'm using Adobe (which unfortunately I have to do a lot now) and all I can do is reboot and try again. At first I tried to print a page of a pdf and my printer locked up (ended up having to delete the printer and re-install it) and now even reading pdf's froze it. I was reading an online pdf, click the back button and nothing... still could move mouse, but couldn't click anything, and no keyboard (tried ctrl+alt+del). so i just hit the reset button and everything is back up again. the only thing though is that i'm afraid to open any pdf's now, but i have to for school... any ideas on what could be happening?How long have you been using Adobe 7.0? Have you installed any other programs in that same timeframe?Adobe Acrobat Reader 7.0 seems to force you to install a kind of Yahoo! toolbar.. A good REASON to REVERT back to 6.0.Are you giving adobe enough time to load?
I find it painfully slow so I avoid it like the plague.I AGREE with the slow-loading...what I do is start Adobe in the am (let all the plug-ins load), and have it quickly open pdf's throughout the day.

I have photoshop 5.0 (I know, it's outdated) but I downloaded a FONT I wanted to use on there. I correctly installed the font onto my computer. It doesn't show up in photoshop when I use the type tool. [glb]FLAME[/glb]Do you have a DVD burner drive installed in the system? You can't CHANGE a regular DVD ROM drive into a DVD burner drive by just installing drivers?

If you do have a DVD burner but XP isn't recognizing it, you'll need to visit the manufacturer's website and download the XP drivers for your particular DVD burner.

hey, I need an MS-DOS pdf converter...I need to convert a pdf into a txt using MS-DOS...does ANYONE have such a converter? not sure which forum to POST my PROBLEM but here it goes... i have an h/p presario 3500 that i had to run the quick restore discs on due to a virus. anyhow, i live in the sticks and don't have dsl or cable so i have to use dial-up, and i use aol. after running the quick restore i reloaded aol 9.0, and now anytime i use internet explorer the MODEM loses the connection and TRIES to redial, usually without reconnecting and aol's list of possible problems pops up (check phone line, etc). any IDEAS?Set up a dialer using the Internet Connection Wizard.

Set IE to 'Never Dial a Connection'.

I am trying to convert a ms access database to SQL USING the Upsizing WIZARD so that i cant import to SQL. I HAV put a database password. The process is generating errors.

Frankly, I think your message is poorly written. By "so that i cant import to SQL", did you really MEAN CAN, not "cant "? How many steps are you identifying here? You convert, then you use the Upsizing Wizard, then you import to SQL. Is that it? Three separate steps?

What seems to be your main issue is that you have password on the Access database, and you believe that's causing an error when you try to use the Upsizing Wizard. Is that correct? If that's the case, then why not simply remove the password from Access until you complete the procedure, then restore the password?Which SQL server are you trying to export to? MySQL? MSSQL? PostgresSQL? Etc.

what is SQL? :-? Im very new to some of this stuff mainly software i DONT know like serversStructured Query Langauge. It's the set of tools USED to QUERY, delete records from, add records to, update records in, a database.
