Hello

How do I determine, please, which of my two Microsoft email ACCOUNTS (one is Outlook, the other Hotmail) has been migrated to Microsoft Server? What happens to the other email account (both are in CONSTANT use) and, when I come to synchronise those two email accounts with my Outlook 2007 DESKTOP application (Control Panel | User Accounts | Mail), do I need to make that migrated account my default email?

I have 2 email addresses (with different ISPs) both operated through MS Outlook.

One of these is fine.  However, with the other email address, I cannot automatically REPLY or forward incoming messages.

What do you think is wrong and what can I try to correct?

Which Version of Outlook are you using?
Curious as to why you want to ( automatically ) reply or forward messages... unattended response system or RELAY POINT for one e-mail to come in to a specific e-mail address and then forward to another without exposing the second e-mail address ETC?I'm using Outlook 12.0.67. The problem ISP is Waitrose Just Mail (= PlusNet). When I said 'automatically' I simply meant using the 'reply' or 'forward' buttons to generate an 'automatic' reply or forwarding email (rather than create a 'new' message) Are these the only 2 that is happens to and what is the error if any that you get?  does this happen with any message that you attempt to forward or reply to.

Have you CHECKED the reply to address to make sure it is correct?

Try removing the address and manually add or use the address book see if the same thing happens.

1) How do I set maybe four tabs at the top of the screen so that when I open Firefox I can immediately select four sites (bank, broker, email, Facebook) to go to with the mouse, not typing any addresses?

2) How can I get it to STOP asking me if I want it to remember PASSWORDS, forcing me to "play" with its drop-down MENU? I never want any passwords REMEMBERED.

 When you open a blank tab, you should SEE the about SIX sites you visited.
Is that not enough?1) Open tabs to the sites you want to load with Firefox. Then click on TOOLS - OPTIONS - GENERAL TAB and click on "use current pages"

I have downloaded an updated jar application to replace one  I have been using and unzipped it. The folder containing the files has been saved on the desktop. If you right click there is no option to open with JAVA. It has a different name than the previous one so there is no confusion it is like STARTING a NEW program
Java is installed and I have checked it using the version command. The zip file has an extension -app.jar but the unzipped file ends with -app.
Running the command DIR shows that the unzipped folder is a not an EXECUTABLE file, although it contains all the program files
I have tried to run it using command prompt
open command prompt as administrator, change directory to desktop, the place where the file is saved. then I have input  java -jar filename and get the error cannot open jar file. I have tried it by adding a .jar at the end of the file name and have tried using "" round the file name but I keep getting the same error message. The icon on the file is a folder icon not a java one I am using windows 8.1

Please can someone help me I am at my wits end after two days of reading forums and trying everything. I even tried someone's prewritten bat file only to get the same result

we have sharepoint 2010. the backend is sharepoint foundation .  ONE of our USERS is WANTING to use a feature called: SHARE this site as she want to share our internal sharepoint website to outside users.
when she clicks this she sees the following error:Error Access Denied. sign in as a different user
I have originally GIVEN this user contribute permissions. what do I need to do to allow her to share this sharepoint site with outside users.

I found an ancient A-Drive disc with loads of important information that I need to READ.  The disc is marked " TANDY  MS-DOS PREFORMATTED and the files contained are in PWP extensions.  This might have been for an old typewriter style word processor machine I had a decade or more AGO?   IS THERE ANY WAY TO CONVERT THESE OLD PRINT FILES into something my computer can read?  Thanks.... Thanks for the advice.  I found another of the disks and it turns out these disks are for an old Smith Corona word processer machine I used to use.  The PWP files are not picture files, they are type only as the one I'm trying to find a way to read is nothing but written word files.  The utility disk from the set is marked PWP UTILITY DISK PWP 3600DS, PWP 3650D, PWP 78DS

I haven't been here for a LONG time.

I hate windows 10 search feature. The whole file explored. The whole difficult to use, privacy invasive windows 10. If I still had the where-with-all to use some other operating system without a bunch of reading and learning, I would. And I'd get rid of Microsoft.

Anyway, I KNOW the name of the 2000 word document and where I saved it, but search won't find it. Why? If I open word the file is in the recently opened file list and I can open it again. After it's out of that list, I'll never be able to find it again.

Messing around, it looks like this is because I saved the file in a sub-folder of Program Files (x86), but I'm not sure. File Explored doesn't SEEM to show it there. But, it does show a .doc file in a sub-folder of my D: drive. Also, from within word when I click on save as, the window that pops up shows the saved file is already there.

How do I get my File Explorer to show me EVERYTHING? In 'View' I have 'Hidden Items' checked.

Also, what is a good free search program? Hopefully one with some power but still simple for basic use. For me, power means things like being able to search for files created on a certain day. That has helped me to find virus or malware a couple of times. Finding files that I didn't put on my computer the day before.

The file search only indexes the User Profile folder (eg Documents and such) And doesn't index other drives or the program files folder. The Search feature in File Explorer searches within the current folder and sub-folders.

Everything Search MAY be useful. It can search pretty much everything, it's limitation is that you can only search for files based on their filename.

I have used Agent Ransack for years, it's free and works well.

I have an MG 5560 printer and wish to install easy-photo print ex (on win XP)  but if I install eppx-win-4_5_0-en.exe it installs but will not work, with message "printing cannot be executed because printer supported by this software is not installed.

Hello! I use Windows Live Media PLAYER 6.0 because I need to make a lyric video for a personal project, but when I tried to open my file, the captions load and then they disappear. If anyone knows how to fix this, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!

On my PC, my Internet adapter keeps turning off. I'm typing this on a phone right now so I won't have to worry about that, though it ALSO makes it hard to describe everything when it takes so long to type, but I'll try to be thorough.

I had an old computer which had this problem. The old computer was also incredibly slow, and from looking online I incorrectly guessed it was due to a dying hard drive. Not slow internet, slow everything. I bought a NEW hard drive, installed Windows 7 on it, but the slowness was still there. So I bought a brand new computer, and put the still new hard drive in. Slowness was gone, Internet adapter problem was still around. At some point I updated to Windows 10. The Internet adapter problem had been around for ages, but hadn't been very severe; every once in a while, the Internet would just stop. I'd minimize whatever I was doing and look at the bottom right, where the Internet symbol (3 quarter-circles) would have turned into a different symbol. Hovering over it would say something like "Not connected (No connections available)". Right click, troubleshoot problems. It would troubleshoot for a couple seconds and if I was lucky just go straight to "Resetting wireless Internet adapter", which would result in the Internet working again. Sometimes it would say "Connect an ethernet cable", so I'd do it again and again until it just tried resetting the adapter. Sometimes it just wouldn't ever go to this option, just keep doing the ethernet message. So I'd just unplug the adapter and plug it back in, and the adapter would work again.

At some point the problem got worse though. Now it seems to disconnect whenever I'm doing too many things at once (though this might well just be a coincidence, since I'm always doing too many things at once). It never just resets the adapter anymore, just does the ethernet message. And if I replug the adapter, it isn't always fixed. Sometimes takes being replugged over and over before it eventually works again, and who knows how long it might be before it goes out again?

So the Internet adapter problem has followed me onto a brand new hard drive, and I didn't get any sort of error messages back when I installed the adapters software from the disk it came with. Had to do it very recently because of the new hard drive. Didn't do any fancy consciousness transfer of my old hard drive to the new one back when I had initially replaced it like two paragraphs ago. Just started fresh, even had to INSTALL a bunch of drivers for the new computer's stuff.

So this makes me believe that the adapter itself must be broken. The USB ports on this computer are all brand new. The hard drive is new. So I buy a brand new Internet adapter. Install device driver CD, plug the new adapter in when the installation tells me to, it installs. I connect it to our network and everything seems fine. Internet works. But then it happens again. Internet disconnects at some random point, only comes back on if repeatedly replugged.

At some point I kept doing all sorts of troubleshooting jazz. I took screen clippings and uploaded them to Google Drive since I figured I might have to find out what's wrong while on my phone, which never randomly disconnects from the WiFi. My memory is poor and I'm not sure what all I did, but I'll upload screenshots (might POST the topic first just to be sure all this doesn't get lost). One screen said code 10, so I looked that up. Ended up on some Microsoft or Windows help site. Downloaded and ran some thing that's SUPPOSED to fix your USB drives? Screen clipped that as well. Will try to make that the last photo. Seemed to work for a while. Then the Internet disconnected again.

It comes across as if the problem sprouted out of nowhere and for no reason as they often do. Was on old, broken computer with and old hard drive and an old adapter. When I tried the new hard drive with the old computer, it taught the new hard drive the problem. Then when the new hard drive goes into a new computer, the problem remains. When the adapter gets replaced, the problem remains. New computer came with another new drive that is currently sitting in there, unused. If I installed Windows 7 on THAT hard drive using a Windows 7 disk, then installed the new adapter with it's disk, would the problem still somehow remain? On a drive that never interacted with the old computer or the old adapter or the new drive? Will it have taught my USB ports themselves this problem, or taught the new adapter? It's like a petty haunting.

I'd rather not have to start fresh on a third drive, as I already have a bunch of stuff installed. That's why I'm here trying to find out what's wrong, so I won't have to go that far yet. But if I can't figure it out, I will eventually just give up and try the 3rd drive option. And then if that doesn't work I guess I'll have to come back.

By the way, tried the adapter in different USB ports, no change. Mouse and keyboard also plugged into USB ports, never have issues with those. No idea if this is a driver issue or a USB port issue, so I put it in software. I hope it's not a hardware issue, as all hardware involved is brand new.

OK, my software problem.

I am looking for an equivalent, preferably free, for RPSORT.COM which will work with 64-bit Windows 7 machines.   I know that Windows supplies SORT.EXE but the problem with this is that is extremely limited in how you specify the sort fields: apparently you can only specify the start point of *one* frield and not the length of that field.   For the databases which I have been generating (all pure text) for more than 22 years I need to be able to sort on two fields, with the length for each field being specified.   For example:

RPSORT STATIONS.DAT /+3:5 /+19:14 STATIONS.SRT

Where the first sort field starts at character 3 and is 5 characters long and the second sort field starts at character 19 and it is 14 characters long.   The .DAT and .SRT files are the INPUT and output files.

Can anyone assist by suggesting some software that I can use please?   Any help will be greatfully appreciated!

It seems that RPSort.com was a third-party utility for 16-bit MS-DOS written by Robert Pirko, who passed away in 1992.

GNU Sort, a Windows port of the Unix/Linux sort utility may be all you need. There are a ton of "external sort" utilities. A random example is Sandokan. This page...

(Make sure you've selected "Show Processes for All Users" in the lower left)

This should tell you what is causing it. If the CPU usage shown there doesn't seem to match up then your issue is likely a driver issue.

For Services, you cannot terminate them through Process Explorer; you need to use the Services snap-in Start->Search, "Services.msc" should bring it up. Then you can disable and  stop any services that aren't important.

IOBit is IMO a scam company. They're software is awful, and the PARTS that aren't are stolen from other software companies. Verified.

I'm running LE windows 7 and after I DOWNLOADED a couple games my laptop has been eating major _____ Everything is taking forever, (just moving FILES from one folder to another is going at like 100-50 kb/s when usually it'd be 2-5 mb/s depending on what I'm moving), and things are generally a lil buggy. I deleted some stuff I didn't need to CLEAR up a couple Gigs but that didn't help whatsoever. I checked out a couple other places online to see what would be the problem but I didn't see anything helpful. Apologies to if this is not posted in the right thread, i feel it could fall under a few different ones.

Anyways, i recently did a full wipe/restore of my desktop, and i cant seem to get my wallpaper to display correctly now. Im using 3 monitors in a 1|2|3 configuration, and id like 2 to be the main display. I have the wallpaper set to the proper resolution and tiled, but the problem is that windows aligns the leftmost edge of the wallpaper to the leftmost edge of the main display (2). So basically the monitors are set up in 1|2|3, but the wallpaper displays 3|1|2. For the life of me, i cannot get these settings fiddled with to make it work. I had it working fine before i wiped the computer, and for whatever reason now it doesnt want to work. I do not want to USE DisplayFusion or UltraMon, as i have run into viruses/compatibility issues with my GPU before.
Of note, my GPU does not seem to be working correctly either, or at least not how it was before.

The GPU is an ASUS HD7850, and i used to use the Catalyst Control Center to set up the display group. When i try to go through that option  now, and i select a 3X1 display grid, it simply replicates the same display across all 3 monitors, and then when i go into control panel, windows shows it as a (1|2) single display.

Can someone offer me some help with this please? EDIT: for some reason windows also is treating one of the monitors differently; it has 1 resolution setting less than the other two, YET they are all the same monitor
Edit^2: Fixed it. Had to UNLOCK the taskbar and set the leftmost as the main display.

After I let SpyBot delete the items it has found during a system scan, pressing Win-R opens a 'Run' window that is now EMPTY. What do I need to UNcheck in the results from a SpyBot scan, to prevent the MRUs from being deleted ? My apologies - this is the WinXp forum - it was not meant to go here - I use Win10ProOne question...why is it neccessary to exempt MRU's from being REMOVED ? ?I don't know if it exposes an option to stop doing so, but I personally don't use software that has default out-of-band BEHAVIOUR LIKE that; removing MRU List INFORMATION isn't really related to removing spyware.Agreed - Spybot is old school software. Its been a while since I asked this. Thought it would be fun to start a new thread with suggestions people have for software tools they use and the tool application pros and cons and description of how its implemented etc for free and low cost software tools that help System Admins, IT Professionals, and Users who support a few systems or just their own computers.

*None of what is shared below is solicitation, nor should this be used by software companies that have a product to sell to use to promote their product. This thread is just to make all who want to know, aware of software tools who have no monetary gain from sharing information on what software to check out and try out.

Here is a list of software that I have used to help me in supporting systems and users:

Remote Admin:

TeamViewer - I have used this for non commercial use in which its freely available to be used for non commercial use. Pros = you can easily connect to a remote computer that is healthy enough to connect to the internet and have Teamviewer installed to it to host the remote connection. Cons= Someone has to be at the other end to accept the connection by giving you 2 pieces of information, a number that represents that specific system and another number that is the passcode to gain access. I have used this for friends who had issues gaming and I am able to chat with them over the phone and take mouse and keyboard controls and they can see me in control as I share with them whatever it is that is important that would take so much more effort trying to describe something for someone to follow, that its just easier to take control yourself and show them hands on how to do something. ** Should only be used with people that you absolutely trust as for if your hosting it your giving the other person physical access to your system to so just about anything that someone sitting at your computer could do.

RealVNC - I only use this now for local network remote admin use. I ran into problems with systems with the service hosted getting hacked about 8 years ago and a port forward active for remote access to my home systems. I was running a version of realVNC which had a security flaw allowing for a BlackVNC attack. As long as used local network and no systems on the DMZ and no systems with port forwards then its probably ok.

RDP - I rarely use RDP anymore as for it locks the computer at the other end when the session is established. Most of the remote admin stuff I need to do is with someone else on the phone or yelling to another room on how to do something in which I can remote into systems in my home to help wife or daughter with an issue without having to walk downstairs by use of RealVNC instead. And for those requiring help outside the home TeamViewer is the tool i use.

Malware/Antivirus/Prevention:

MalwareBytes - I use the free edition and happy with it. It cleans systems well. I have yet to find anything that gets around it. Cons - Free version is Not a Real-Time scanner though so you can potentially infect your system and then hopefully it doesnt prevent MalwareBytes from removing the problem.

AVG Free Antivirus - I use this as the antivirus on my systems. I am low risk for infection because I dont just download and open unknown attachments in e-mail. Havent had any problems with AVG Free Antivirus.

WinPatrol - This was a suitable replacement for systems that are at higher risk for infections that a user could click on something bad and infect the system. This warns you that something is about to make a system change that can be a very bad problem if not wanted. Prior to this I use to use Spybot with Tea-Timer.

Hardware Software Tools:

CrystalDiskInfo - I use the free portable non installer edition to check on Hard Drive and SSD health and statistics from S.M.A.R.T data. It works well on most drives. *Some external drives its UNABLE to detect, but every internally installed hard drive I have used with this software its detected and given me information to assess the health of the drive. ** One feature I like for this software is that for example I had a 164.7GB early SATA hard drive that had 3 bad sectors. I was able to raise the threshold for reporting a problem to 4 sectors, so it showed Green Good for 3 sectors or less. I then could run the software on a weekly basis and see if the drive is degrading or holding steady at the health of healthy but less than 4 sectors bad.

PassMark Benchmark - I use the 30 day trial on clean builds when I want to see how healthy they are running. I can stress all components and see if there is a bottleneck or performance issue. Once the 30 days are up most the features are disabled. At that point I uninstall it as for the system has been optimized and burned it with benchmarks to know that its a solid rig.

SpeedFan - I use this primarily as my temperature monitoring software of choice. I like that it has a graph option to where you can select specific parts of the system to monitor such as CPU, GPU, Hard Drive, and Bridge Temp. I use this when I overclock systems to make sure that the operating temperature for the system doesnt climb into component frying levels. With the graphing feature I can run a benchmark and stress the system such as with PassMark benchmark and then when its done look at the graph and see how slow or fast the temperature climbed and where it capped at and then how fast it dropped when benchmark ended.

Alert Ping Pro - I used this tool to monitor networks for the last system admin job I had. It supported adding rules of what to do if there is a problem and launching other programs under trouble conditions. This allowed for me to have a failsafe ready to switch over if critical systems went down to do an auto switch over by use of calling to EXE's of programs I wrote which were either a macro that was compiled to EXE or other instructions to command other hardware devices through batch etc to make changes. Also used it as a main part of a system I made to call me on my cell phone and tell me where the problem was so that as a problem popped up I was able to act on it within minutes most of the time before the user was even aware a problem had happened. ** This soft money but was well worth it for detecting when network devices and whole sections of a network went down due to a power outage for multiple sites in which redirection would be needed for data farm etc.

Auslogics Disk Defrag - I like using this in ADDITION to the built in Windows defrag. I like its block display that shows like the old school defrag as to block relocations. Its very fast in cleaning up fragmentation and its free. * I was SUGGESTED this software by a friend who was in college recently that the professor stated its better than the built in Windows defrag tool. Not sure if this is true or not, but I run it anyways and its pretty fast.

Admin Programming:

Bloodshed Dev C++ - I was using this a while back for systems I wanted to program in C++ for that I didnt want to have to worry about .Net Framework requirement support for my programs. Pros = Doesnt Require .Net . Cons = It has some bugs. I ran into one of them in which I just needed to rewrite some code to avoid use of that method and use an alternate means.

Perl - ( ActivePerl Community Edition ) - Pros = I've used this for writing down and dirty quick Perl scripts to do work that is beyond that of what a batch would achieve as well as what can be written in 4 lines of code in Perl could take 20 or more lines of code in C++. Cons = Requires installation on each computer that you plan to run your .PL Perl script on.

JitBit Macro Recorder - This tool allows for you to either record a process and repeat that process as many times as you like or program up a macro on the fly with use of its extensive IDE. Pros= You can have a macro ready in minutes. The macro can be compiled as an EXE and run on other systems without the software installed on it to support so stand alone macros can be created from it. I have used the macros for all sorts of automation. Outside of admin, I use used this for redundant mind numbing gaming requirements to farm stuff on predetermined instructions so that I didnt have to play the game(s) myself, but instead it ran like a bot would. Cons= This is not freeware. If you plan to have a system run remotely you need to be very careful with timing, if it gets to the next step before say a file is ready to be accessed through windows explorer it will carry out the mouse/keyboard instructions no matter if the file to be targeted is available yet over a network share, so delays should be added or delays in your recording of your macro should be added to allow for software windows to load and refresh etc. Otherwise your macro can run out of step with what is happening for real and so you can all of a sudden have other GUI objects interacted with in which they were never intended to be interacted with, and have this running looped you can have a big mess on your hands as for the software does not know any better and its just running through time delays and X,Y mouse coordinates and left or right mouse click and keystrokes with ms timed delays for down key and up key etc. Once you get use to how sensitive it is you can avoid many of the troubles.

Offline Documentation:

HTTrack - Used to copy website content for offline viewing, where a site doesnt have information available as a PDF and information is scattered among many pages making printing them to a PDF not worth the time. Pros= Works great for sites that have statistical data such as price lists or text information that is non dynamic. You can set the depth of how many levels down into the sebsite to copy data from to only get the data that is nearest top of the website vs data that is deeper down in the navigation tree. Cons= WEBSITES with Flash and other multimedia it does not copy and so you can end up with a broken offline copy of a website. Additionally depending on the site to be copied, you might be copying gigs of mostly unneeded information. This crawler also downloads infected files or nasty scripts from web servers as the antivirus detects them after they are copied to the system.

DoPDF 7 - I use version 7 even though a newer version is available. This allows me to print websites contents as a PDF to use documentation offline in PDF form when needed. * When installing the newer DoPDF 8 it wanted to install additional junk. I have a copy of DoPDF 7 on my software folder in my software archive that I use to install from without redownloading or without having to install a newer version which might have additional junk install along side it if you dont read all prompts and deselect the bundleware from installation.

System Recovery:

Macrium Reflect: I use this to clone hard drives for systems. I then leave the extra hard drive in the system disconnected so that a rebuild is just a matter of connecting the drive and cloning the good copy over the bad or corrupt copy if needed. For laptops where only 1 drive can be installed at a time I use an external SATA HDD dock through USB.



I think thats all that comes to mind for now. Might add some more later if I remember any that i forgot to add here...

Hi ive upgraded my PC & now use Win 10. My old MS word will not work with win 10.

My question - Is it true that newer word versions will not open on older versions? I need to do a CV and if I'm SENDING it to potential employers / agencies that have the older version on win 7 or even vista / XP, they will not be able to read it?

Is it better to then get the oldest version that works with win 10 i.e MS office 2010 to avoid this from happening?

 Instead of sending doc or .docx files, you can send .PDF files instead. They can be viewed for free, with a lot of different software which should all show it accurately.Cheers but I would rather send a word file, its EASIER to edit on both sides. What advice would you give to ensure max compatability? What version of Word are you using?

Opening a Word Document file in a version of Word other than the one with which it was created can cause incorrect display of the document. The document formats of the various versions change in subtle and not so subtle ways

If you have to use a new version of word, it will be fine. The problem is if you have to use an older version.

MS Word is backward compatible and will open older versions.

Also, try another Operating System. You can download Windows 10 ISO for free and use it for awhile without a product key. That will help you know if the problem really is XP. I believe XP is the real problem.

By the way: You can fit Windows 10 on to an external USB device and boot it.

You can make a hyperlink document in MS Word using the NATIVE word format. However, the target user has to use a word reader to view it.

I used this on Windows 2000, XP and Win 7 computers.

I store the database on a USB stick when I plug it in to check the values, the program asks if I want to load current pricing. I do and then it automatically shows the current value, when the BOND matures, the interest rate. When I close one (I have different value savings bonds) it always asks if I want to save the information.
I do and then the database for each is updated. I think I look at them every 3 or 4 months.

Issue: If the current month has 30 days then the script is returning me 30 days for the next month as well.

Looks like DateAdd function is not behaving properly.
Date FORMAT : yyyymmdd  example 20160831 or 20160930
If I am passing 20160930 I am expecting 20161031 and likewiseAdding a Month to SEPTEMBER 30th, 2016 gives you October 30th, 2016. It adds or subtracts 30 days and clamps it to the month if necessary, basically. It only changes the day portion when necessary to clamp within the month.

If you want to get the last day of a month,  you can use DateSerial. As DOCUMENTED, if you pass in a Day parameter of 0, it will return the last day of the previous month. For example:

Code: [Select]DateSerial(2016,11,0)

returns October 31st, 2016.

Is there such a program that will force any VIDEO or video game(executable) to display in SBS IMAGE? I would like to use this program to play video games from my pc on my GearVR unit. I've been USING HandBrake to convert files recorded with DVB-T set-top box. I've been using this program mindlessly, because I didn't care about maximum compression or remove artifacts from the picture. Halving the picture resolution sufficed all the TIME for STORAGE of movies. Today, I've noticed that playback of MP4 files produced by HandBrake is choppy on my PC, it's even worse on the aforementioned DVB-T set-top box.

How do I set HandBrake to produce files playing as fluent as input files? I tried many things like changing FPS, inverse telecine but without success. Is it going to cost me disk space?

After consulting with Microsoft's community , it is my impression that you can not do any thing about a long running script.  You just have to live with it.   BobThere are script blockers out there for browsers...

Playing around I DISCOVERED a new (new to me) idea.  I have both Crome and IE in my computer.  When I use Crome as my default browser but I sign to IE 11 , every thing is fine.  I have not noticed any long running scripts or has the computer shut down or frozen.  I hope you understand what I am trying to say.  Is this POSSIBLE or  do  I have some kind of glitch?   It would seem that all the problems are related to using IE as my default browser.      Bob

From the Mothership...There are a number of DIFFERENT checksum algorithms. Did you have ANYTHING particular in MIND?

Windows 10 comes with .NET Framework 4.6. If the programs you are finding need an older version you can INSTALL the older version alongside that version. (1.1, 2.0, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, etc).

You can also add .NET 2.0 and 3.5 via "Turn Windows Features on or off".The one from the mothership did the trick!

Is there another way to uninstall programs?You could target the games installation location and delete them, but this is not the best method. Its best to launch steam and delete them the proper way, this way there are no orphan entries on your computer as a result of deleting a game improperly.

Question I have is,,,, why not delete them the proper way through steam?Go to your library, right click on the game you're downloading and want to remove and select "Delete local CONTENT". That's all. You don't need to stop or restart Steam this way.

Delete everything under Downloading (not a specific folder just everything)
Start steam - product should download anew.

I know that this has been covered over and over but I am looking for a fresh look at what is out there for free coverage. I have a win 7 machine that I used AVG for a while. I UNINSTALLED it because I got sick of the popups asking me to run a system check for errors or upgrade to the pro version ...etc.  I would log on and get about 3 or 4 popups. I just got sick of clicking no and then being asked to reboot for the new program.

So  What is out there that is free and works good?

You can go to Google and ask for a list of the best free antivirus programs. Of course, the first thing you'll get will be paid advertisements. But go down about 3 or 4 items and you should find a list somebody is made of the best free antivirus programs at the current time.

Hi, For what seems like for ever, in various Windows OS, I have always USED a double click on a folder using the left hand MOUSE button. However, for some reason, this action is no longer working. To open a folder I have to right click on it and manually select 'open' from the drop down menu. This does not APPLY to desk top icons----they still respond to left clicking. In addition I now find that I am unable to create a 'New Folder' except when I am inside another folder. For example if I wanted to create a folder titled '2 reasons to like Windows 10', I would not be able to do so unless I opened any other folder created the new one and then did a 'cut & paste' on the new one. Now I know that what I have here are 2 separate issues, but they both appeared at round about the same time, following a Win 10 update. Has anyone else had these or similar problems of late? I would appear to me that some settings have been changed, but where to go to fix them and how to do it is past my knowledge base.
For information I do get an error message when I try to open a file with a left click...please see attached. It is to do with file associations, but again where di I look to sort it.

You said these contain . This is because your Outlook is set to use Rich Text format for outgoing emails (ones you send out). To change outgoing mail format in Outlook 2010:

3. Mail
4. Compose Messages in this format: (Choose HTML or PLAIN Text)
Unless you want your messages to look like you did them on a typewriter, choose HTML
5. OK to save default email format.


Thanks for the detailed reply.   Strnage THO, as that how it was already set?I believe the is seen if the sender's Outlook is set to send RTF messages, and the receiver's email client cannot HANDLE them, so maybe it only affects some of the people you are sending emails to. If you are in a corporate situation, maybe some of your contacts have had some kind of upgrade or change, or your (or their) the IT systems have been altered.Mainly emails to my DAUGHTER, she thought I was sending a virus lol
But they show on my emails from her.     I'll ask her anyway.

I have DATA of the monthly total of purchases by each customer. It looks something like this: 0,0,0,100,200,0,0,300,0,0,0,20,0,250,0,0. All in separate cells in a row. I want to be able to RETURN the values of 2,3,1. I need to find a way to count the amount of zero values between the non zero values. With or without the amount of zeros following the last nonzero number is a little LESS important. For reference I have a formula to count to the amount of months since the first purchase and also the amount of months since the last purchase. They are the following: =COUNT(DD2:INDEX(A2:DD2,MATCH("",T(1/A2:DD2),0))) and =ROWS(A2:DD2)-MATCH(2,1/(A2:DD2>0))+108. Any Help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks PS using Excel 2010 I believe Try the ARRAY formula below in DL2. Confirm it with Ctrl + Shift + Enter instead of the regular Enter. Fill down through all of your rows, then fill right as far as you need to. In each column it should list the size of the gap between non-zero entries. See attached for (hopefully) more clarity:

 =IFERROR(SMALL(IF($G2:$DJ2>0,COLUMN($G2:$DJ2)),COLUMN(A:A)+1)-SMALL(IF($G2:$DJ2>0,COLUMN($G2:$DJ2)),COLUMN(A:A))-1,"")

 The results I've checked appear to hold up? Did you just answer your own QUESTION ? ?
