YTD works but you have to pay attention during install to uncheck bundleware from trying to TRICK you into installing them.I found the YTD site.

I am in a bit of a predicament. I have monitored my temps, check my HDD and ssd health, installed new drivers, reinstalled windows twice. This all began when I was just getting ready to clean my desk. I unplugged my MONITORS keyboard and mouse. After putting everything back I noticed that my mouse was not working so I downloaded the logitech software and reset all of the modes and dpi settings for my mouse ( I assumed the memory on the mouse just got corrupted). Then it was working Yaya but then my computer started freezing. So I assumed it was a heat issue and it was. My cpu was spiking above 78 %C.I reapplied the thermal paste and it was much needed and my idle temps was around 40-50. I am on my phone so I'll just type out the speccy info. FX 9590, 990fxa ud3 r5 mobo, corsair cx750m psu, Kingston ssd, Seagate hdd. My event log showed side by side,wmi , and .net runtime If the PC was moved...which you STATED i'd power down unplug and remove and re-seat the vid card RAM stiks and anu other addon cards that exist...I Have tried that to no avail. Only the peripheralsecond where moved anyway.

What happens if you run this without passing the output to file. Do you see the ÿ character in the file SIZES when its run at command prompt and info passed to display vs to file?

Also where did this Windows 8 come from. Is it a download off the internet which was INSTALLED or came with computer? Asking this because I have seen people get Windows off of a torrent and have issues like this.This is a genuine package with cd's for 32 and 64bit of microsoft windows 8 prof. Screen display is perfect. When I open the file, it is unreadable.  You can test this by running dir>list.txt in any directory and open the file in that directory list.txt. It is unreadable. I have a friend of mine who has been having quite a bit of trouble with her computer. A little background information, it has windows 10 and I have already had it scanned for spyware and MALWARE using Advance System cares anti-malware and malwarebytes. I have also already had her update the DRIVERS on her mouse and had her activate the deactivated Enhanced Pointer Precision option and then deactivate it after it didn't fix the problem to see if that would fix it. It didn't. Now for the problem: Any time she opens up anything with a scroll BAR (webpages, windows explorer ect. ) the scroll bar will automatically go to where her mouse is pointing without her clicking on it. This is quite irritating especially when she isn't trying to scroll down and her mouse just goes over the scroll bar. I could use some assistance in choosing a video converter. I have a downloaded movie in a MP4 format that I would like to convert and or burn to a dvd. Although the movie is on my document (video) file, when I click on the file it won't open and play even though I have the Windows Media Player. Instead, I get a message (snippet attachment) stating that Windows cannot open the file.
This is the first video file I have ever downloaded so this is all a new concept to me; however, I read an article from Digital Trends about how to convert DVDs to MP4 files in Windows in which three freeware video CONVERTERS were recommended: HandBrake, Movavi, and WinX DVD ripper. I researched the 3-converters at Wikipedia and other online sources and found they are also capable of converting MP4 to DVD, but I still have reservations as to which if any of the three programs to try. I recall reading that some programs will install a BROWSER toolbar which I PREFER not to have.
Any suggestion of a converter program or advice about the use of the converter would be very welcome. My computer is an HP Pavilion with Windows Vista, she's old but still humming.

Hello, ran into someone in the hall and they had this problem. They paid for Office and got it installed on their SURFACE. Then they paid for Visio and tried to install it. Got an error that they could not install the 32bit version as there were 64bit components on the machine. Tried removing Office and INSTALLING Visio and got the same error. I don't think he had the option of 32 or 64, and he is getting frustrated. On top of that, we went back to the THIRD party vendor for help or a refund on the price of Visio and they said he had to go to Microsoft.

Is there something we are missing?

I have a Acer Aspire 4 years old which got ransomed and I have not been able to clean it out . My question ,could I partition the hard drive and INSTALL a new version of windows 10 inside that new partition. and still be confident that the new partition will not be corrupt . I cannot use the Acer software that allows you to format the drive and reinstall windows 7 because i get an error message that the" drive is not able ". I have backed up all documents .
I am been thinking of using a thumb drive to install Windows 10Id use Linux to wipe that drive clean, deleting all partitions. Then use Windows 10 media after HAT to install 10 to it clean. If you try to make a partition on a drive that has one of its partitions hostage its going to be a big mess of wasted space and potential for whatever you got hit by traveling to the new partition.

Use of a Linux Mint or Ubuntu burned ISO to DVD you can boot off this DVD and then when it boots to the desktop of the distro you can then access this infected drive and delete all partitions. Once they are deleted just back out of any other actions and this should be GOOD enough for you to be able to reboot computer and use the Windows 10 install media to install clean and use the entire drive for 10.

New Partition will not be corrupt going this route. This should also KILL off any MBR virus's as for the drive will no longer be bootable until a new OS is installed to it in which the MBR (Master Boot Record ) gets WRITTEN.

I was trying to open a file on my computer and it wouldn't open up, I went into "open with" and tried several of the options it gave me. When I tried PDF, it changed a lot of my files to PDF. I use Irfanview a lot, and now those files won't open with it. I don't like PDFs. How do I CHANGE them BACK??

INSTEAD you have an issue with the program that supports the files be associated with Adobe or some other PDF handler. If you right-click on the file can you tell it to open it with the other program of choice and then select the check box to always handle those file types with the program of choice?When I do it, it won't open, I get a decode error that says: Can't load Plugin "PDF.DLL"! I have a simple budget spreadsheet, with columns C thru N representing MONTHS January thru to December.
each row after the headings represents an expense item.
Some items have a known amount each month, such as Internet charge, deducted from bank or credit card without intervention, others vary as the money is spent, eg Food. I load the known amounts automatically for the year at the start of the year. The other amounts spent are added as the money is spent.

I'd like column O, the next column, to be the sum spent to date for each item. THEREFORE if today's date is in January, the total in column O would be the amount in column C. If today's date is in March, I'd like O to show the total for the columns C, D and E.

I can't find a simple formula to do this.  I'm prepared to fix a column to show the month number, or even the rightmost column letter, such as E.Well, that is 1 hour of my life I'll never get back, but I now have a feel for relative and absolute r1c1 type cell representation, the INDIRECT function, and getting the month number from today's date. You can Google these topics for lots more guidance than I can give here.

[attachment deleted by admin to conserve space]DeleteddittoIf what Salmon Trout posted is what the OP was asking for then I would suggest altering the design of the sheet a little.  Instead of 1 line for the various categories such as Food, Internet, Gasoline, etc...  I would USE 2 or even 3 lines per category such as Food - Budget, Food - Actual and maybe even Food - Difference.  That way, you could load the budgeted amounts into the budget field at the beginning of the year and then each month enter the actual spent amount in the actual field.  The difference field could keep track of budgeted vs actual.  This design would give more information regarding how well one is adhering to the budget.  By adding the actual columns across, Column O could still be used to show a running tally of the total spent for the year for each category.

Please provide me with:

1. the file names and
2. the  order in which to install them.

Thank you.If you have Windows 8, just insert the media and install it as per normal installation. You should not have to worry about what files are installed in what order. Drivers that you might need you could install after the Windows installation. You might need another computer with internet access to get the drivers you need as for if the Ethernet Adapter driver is not bundled in the Windows 8 installation then you will need another computer to get the necessary driver(s) for devices that require drivers beyond the standard Windows 8 installation.I put Windows 10 on a D830, which is very similar to a D630. Like Dave says, insert the installation medium and let it do its stuff. It found all the wifi and stuff.

Here's today's problem. Actually, I guess I've had this problem for quite a while, not sure about that. Anyway, Internet Explorer now wants to be the default browser that I have to use when I open my e-MAIL. Let me explain what I mean.
I like to use Thunderbird portable as my default e-mail client. I'm familiar with it and have come to learn about some of its quirks and behaviors. I get messages from other people that know me and they asked me to join them on Facebook or LinkedIn and when I try to click on the link it gets messed up because it strives to start Internet Explorer. For me Internet Explorer is a complete DISASTER. I have no idea what it's doing, I am accustomed to using Mozilla Firefox. This is my computer, I paid for it, and I bought the software for it and never conceded to Microsoft that it has the right to take over the way I use my computer. When Microsoft takes over my computer, I'm not able to use it.
Now here's the problem. I cannot find the area where you tell Thunderbird what is the browser is supposed to use the following link. I've been told that sin an area CALLED preferences. But I can't even find where the preferences are in Thunderbird. I just don't see them. Where are they?

I tried that twice and still when I click on a Facebook notification it starts up in Internet Explorer and not Firefox.
To work around that, I have to "copy link" and drop into Firefox. Then it takes me to the Facebook notification.
I will just have to live with it. A few more mouse clicks. 

Maybe this is a quirky thing with XP.
When I do e-mail,  I prefer working inside of XP. Otherwise using Windows 10  creates too much stress and runs my blood pressure up. 
He means you don't have FireFox set properly as the default browser in XP...double check that setting...And Yet More Info...

But for sanity check I looked at something else that says I  should try my administrator account. So I do. guess what? In the administrator account there is no problem when I make Firefox the default. Then thunderbird works well.

Why would that be?   

BTW: I am using Thunderbird portable, so  I get the same e-mail settings no matter what user I login. (A behaviour found in portable applications.)

EDIT: Update. crated new user account. FireFox  is default. Thunderbirtd works OK.
Sooo, me thinks itwould be easiertotreat this as a corrput XP user account. Which I have delt with before. I will try that.  Problem solved. Somehow something reseating the default browser right after I would set it to Firefox.
Very odd. This is a recent install of XP pro with update stuff.
I had to fix the corrupt user account. No clue as to what went awry.

I tried VirtualBox a few years ago. But I didnt have a need for it so I removed it to free up hard drive space.

If you want a virtual environment that is Windows XP, if you can locate PC ANYWHERE 2007, you can use that and run a virtual XP system along side your already existing Windows XP system. On the occasion that I need to run 2 or more isolated environments on the same Windows based computer, I use Virtual PC 2007 and its as simple as linking my VHD for Windows XP and I can then have my virtual computer running along side my physical. For my virtual environment its XP Pro SP2 with 384MB of System RAM allocated to the virtual system. So MULTIPLES of virtual environments is only limited by AMOUNT of RAM, CPU processing power to juggle multiple systems physical + virtual system(s), hard drive space, and Windows Licenses to be legal with 1 license per virtual environment.

Occasionally i will fire up my Virtual PC 2007 which runs on my Windows 7 system and use that to test software without making a mess of my main computer. If its a game that I am testing that woudnt test well in a virtual environment, I then use my test rig that I have a system image of that after I test a game, I can wipe it clean by clean image placed onto the drive and then its clean and ready for the next test. This systems name is crashtestdummy

I've found the Windows 10 Networking foldout to LEAVE something to be desired. This seems to be the case moreso for VPN connections, which aren't very common. The primary issue is that the foldout lists any available wireless and VPN connections- that's all fine- but clicking on one, rather than allowing connection or disconnection, will take you to another control panel window where you are provided with the same list and have to select the desired item again.

This is annoying because I am a rather heavy user of VPN tunnel connections, not because I use VPNs for anonymity or somesuch but rather because we use VPN tunnels to access both our main office servers as well as customer systems (Databases, Remote desktop, and even test our software remotely through the VPN etc.) so as a result this change to the behaviour from previous Windows releases get's on my nerves.

I've left feedback about this since the earlier insider builds, as have other users. Microsoft hasn't seen fit to address those concerns. There are workarounds, such as using a registry key to restore the Windows 8.1 network foldout, but it comes with it's own issues as it behaves oddly in some scenarios on Windows 10.

Anyway, I got sick of waiting and decided to slap together my own quick little menu for the Notification Area. It shows as a notification icon and right-clicking shows a menu populated by configured VPN connections and available Wireless networks, if any. Clicking on one either disconnects (if connected) or connects (if disconnected). VPN connections require an additional log-in step, but the credentials will be pre-populated if configured in Windows.

I've put the resulting program on Git Hub. It's also on my "new" Downloads page (In more consumer-usable installer form!). It has a limited set of options (Whether to start with Windows, The menu style, and whether to show VPN or wireless connections or both) but I've been using it the last few days and I've found it quite useful so I thought I'd spam share it here.You are way over my HEAD BC.

Im still at work and cant test this but was wondering if anyone ever used HTTRACK with filtering to know if this would work or not. There is a website that has Unreal Tournament 99 addon game maps and there are way to many links to manually download each zip file one by one. I started the website copier/crawler last night after first testing at what level the .zip files are located at in which they are at the 3rd level in, so i set that limitation to only go 3 levels deep, and as of this morning i grabbed 12GB of data through this website. My guess is that I have a bunch of BLOAT that I dont need coming along with the .zip files. So I want to go at this with a means that is not so hard hitting to someones web server for this website that selectively grabs just the .zip files that contain the maps that were created by people for the game with map editor.

Below I am not sure if this will hit the first instruction that says refuse all and then it will skip past the next filter rule or not. I am hoping that it will work like a BATCHED filter where the first filter rule says dont copy any files, and then the next rule then adds the exception to only the .zip files that i want. I am not sure if you can have a filter set up with only copy .zip files in the same filter instruction or not.

Digging deeper I think I might be able to have the filter on a single line:

I was thinking the || OR && AND but they show it as OR instead of || in a not quite the same example to what i am looking to achieve so it looks like it understand the word OR. If this is the case then I dont need 2 rules, it would be a single filter rule on one line so I wouldnt have to worry about it seeing -*.* and not stepping to the next filter rule, as for it should run everything on that filter line before exiting its loop to step to the next file to test the filter against until all files have been exhausted on the site that is targeted.

Well it doesnt like the filter... according to the note in the software itself it says you separate filter rules by a single space so it would be

 -*.* +*.zip

However the filter instruction of -*.* does what I worried about and it hits that rule and it doesnt matter what follows. I tried reversing the filter rule as

+*.zip -*.* and it seems as though the first rule is cancelled as the next rule says no files.


I guess I am going to just copy all and then strip the .zip files from it all in the end and delete the rest. Looking at what has copied so far most of the data is in the .zip files and not many images etc, so I guess I will run it filterless with a depth set to 3.

Alright, so one of the gifts I got for Christmas was an LED Message Badge from Typo & Co. I opened it out of the BOX today, and it comes with a USB Cable, an LED badge and a micro USB.

I inserted the micro USB, which supposedly has the program necessary for customizing messages for the LED badge, and the first thing I notice is that the manual says I need to open a folder titled "MiniLED Display V9.92", which did not appear on the micro USB. So I thought to myself; maybe it's in one of the other folders (there's a few of them on this micro USB), so I looked around for a bit and suddenly Windows Defender quarantines a bunch of important files and claims it's malware.

I go into Windows Defender, CHECK the "History" and see that there is a detected item:

* Worm:Win32/Tufik.A

And the detection date corresponds precisely with the time I inserted the micro USB.

I did a Google Search of "Tufik.A" and found that it is a Trojan Downloader:

Surely Typo & Co. did not install malware into this product, but it still concerns me. I'm clueless as to what I am supposed to do at this point. As for the files that were quarantined form said micro USB, they seem to be completely gone, and it doesn't look like there are any patches on the web.

Its also not completely impossible for malware to be bundled with software from a manufacturer. At an employer of mine ( cant go into details as to which employer and which vendor gave us the worm infection as for I am sworn to confidentiality ), we got hit with conficker from a software update from a vendor. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conficker

99.9% of the time its just a false positive. But I dont suggest shutting off your antivirus to get it to work. I'd seriously have Typo & Co assist with this. Maybe their website has a newer version of the software as well. Its not uncommon for a product to be rushed out the door and then a bug pop up in which an updated version is created to fix the bug.

There is a software that I use on a regular basis called IMGBurn that flags as infected which is a somewhat false positive and I had to make an exception to allow it. During installation it can trick people into installing other bundleware and that is why it was flagged due to deceptive installer. But the software for me when installed carefully to avoid the bundled junk works with no problems and after installed there is no malware or anything SNEAKY going on with it. There are others out there other than IMGBurn that do the same thing, but IMGBurn for me does what i need it to and does it well for the ISOS that I work with.I remember Conficker, I actually remember someone else I knew who got infected with it around the time it was spread over the internet. Really, QUITE devastating. :/

I also had in mind that it's likely a false-positive, but since I saw Windows Defender point out the name of an identified Trojan, now I'm curious. I'll call Typo & Co. sometime today and inform them on this. See if I can resolve the issue. I'll post back here with updates as soon as I can.

So I am trying to scan a document from my HP Envy 5530 and it is outputting several parts of the jpeg in separate jpeg FILES instead of 1 jpeg. SORRY I cannot really explain it better. It does this whether I use the touch screen on the printer or the hp scan software on the desktop.

I purchased a new computer with XP it came with an XP disk if your HARD drive broke and you had to replace with different one you could reinstall Windows, now I inquired about buying a new computer with Windows 10 professional and they told me it comes only with a restore disk per MICROSOFT's policy. I have Outlook 2016 through office 365.

Outlook will not open and I get message ''Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window. The set of folders cannot be opened. The operation failed''.
I can start Outlook in safe MODE by holding down control button. My inbox is all there but my sent items all seem to be missing.
I had to change/redo my profile and was then able to look at inbox etc.
I cannot send EMAILS but all are being received.

This has been going on a few weeks now with me starting in safe mode just to get by.

I am pretty sure it is down to a CORRUPT file.
Is there any way of sorting this out or should I just buy a recovery program - is there a recommended ONE?

I'm FINALLY part of the Spotify-Premium-Family. But i thought that there could might be a WAY to convert music from Spotify to Mp3 in order to keep the titles onmy laptop or BURN music to an audio CD. I am have the same problem, mainly the "failed to update headers" part. I have uninstalled Outlook 2010 and deleted the outlook folder from my hard drive,the pst file and everything. As soon as I reinstall Outlook 2010 and open it the same information is there in Outlook, the same profile. And RIGHT away I GET the same error message. What does it take to COMPLETELY remove Outlook 2010 from my hard drive so there isn't a TRACE of it there?Double Post...

Listen, I use that very excellent piece of software named: AutoRuns.  I have noticed that, amongst the programs it designates for deletion are:: 'PDF995' - 'WINRAR' and 'PRIVERZER'.   Now these three programs are ALSO good ones and I use them ..as some of you will possibly use them too.                  The problem is:...why is AutoRuns picking them out is the first instance AND; If I delete the entries in Auto, I lose the programs???  Depends which tab you are viewing in Autoruns...

If it's startup none of those need to be launching on start...

Guy at work hit me up today telling me that he BOUGHT a USB Stick that is an antivirus and it cost him $60 at Best Buy. Was wondering if anyone heard anything about these as to if they are good or junk?

According to what he described it is not a proactive method of avoiding malware and viruses, but instead its used to remove and clean up infections after already infected.

I use a statistical tracking software that allows user to CREATE their own custom statisics as we see fit but there are some type of statistics that its columns arent cacheable so their performances are really bad so i would like to know is there´s a way to add these columns to the cache to improve their performance? Trying to help a friend who is legally blind and knows nothing about computers. He is sometimes a victim to malware beause he can not always see what and where he is clicking. Recently his desktop shortcuts started opening minimized. I discovered he had somehow downloaded Driver Update and MBAM detected 580 objects. Uninstalled Driver Update and deleted identified objects but problem remains. Tried all of the workarounds often suggested for this common Win 7 problem but none WORKED. Then I installed Autosizer which also does not work. Tried contacting SouthbayPC but the link to their Product Support page does not work and their corporate telephone number is answered by a scam telemarketing recording.
 
Questions: Did SouthBayPC go out of business? Does Autosizer not work on Win 7? Is it possible that desktop shortcuts got corrupted and I should delete them and create new shortcuts? Thanks.
If possible, I'd install a clean install of the OS, and necessary software for him to interact with computer, then create a user profile that has less privileges than that of system admin. This will prevent much of the malware problems by having privilege restrictions. Friends computer should be checked on periodically to make sure antivirus/malware scans come up clean and to make sure Windows updates happen. This system should have at minimum 2 accounts one as system admin and the other as user. User should be run 99% of the time and the admin account used only when admin privileges needed to install software etc, and then leave admin mode and go BACK to user restricted privileges.

Then depending on the make/model of computer you would either need to use media that came with it or was created( or still yet to be created if it hasnt been created yet), or if it has a recovery partition on it use the recovery partition.

My HP that I am at now with Windows 7 64-but with Core i3 processor ( about 2 years old ) for example has a system recovery manager under Start->All Programs->Security and Protection->Recovery Manager

Depending on make/model computer it can be under a number of different paths to get there depending on where the computer manufacturer decided to place it.

If the media was never created yet for this system, I would bring over some DVD-R discs and burn a set of them. Some computers can require as many as 8 DVD-R disc's. This one required just 5 of them. Many systems have an internal counter to only allow a single set to be created, so once created these discs should be placed somewhere safe and easy to remember where they are. *Trick that I do is place them into jewel cases and then the stack of discs in cases into a ziplock bag, and then I open computer up and place the stack of discs resting on the inside bottom of the minitower and this way whenever I need the media, its right there, pop the cover off and open ziplock baggy and media is ready to go vs trying to remember what hiding place I had them so that I wouldnt lose them and they wouldnt get damaged or lost and now... they are lost.  I've lost image discs before and so I started using this method of keeping them with the systems they go with. Ziplock baggy helps keep dust out of the discs and keeps them together.

Installation clean is usually as easy as booting off Disc 1 of the set of recovery media and then following the user interface. Sometimes you have to change bios to change boot order to DVD boot first, or use boot key to be able at boot to select to boot from DVD ROM.

Newer systems also support creating bootable Flash Drives, but I personally like the DVD-R discs as for I have had USB media created that said it passed the process of making the media, but the USB Flash device didnt want to boot even when messing with bios for legacy support and more. It was an issue that the cheap USB stick was ok for storing data, but incapable of being used as a bootable device. I blew my 1 shot of making the media the counter said it was already created and I cant create another. I ended up having to pay for the recovery media for the Toshiba which was outside of warranty.

I could use the CASE method in verilog as something similar to a lookup table, but I need all values to work at all times for accurate spectroscopy measurements. We have recently started USING incredimail because we don’t LIKE the new format Microsoft are using in hotmail. I ‘am using X.P. I can save an e-mail in a folder in my documents , delete it in my in box then open it where I saved it in the folder in my documents.

My wife has windows 7 on her laptop and if I TRY to do the same it asks me to install incredimail? But if I transfer the folder via a U.S.B. stick to my computer using X.P. I can open them. Can any one help me, thank you
You need to setup incredimail on her PC if you want all the features.thanks for the reply, I did when we started using incredimail. I reinstalled it again today and restarted the laptop.

So I'm not really sure why this computer going so slow I've taken a look at many different THINGS (disabling startup PROGRAMS, getting rid of trash files/apps, *censored* cleanup/Defrag, ect) but the hardware under the hood says that it shouldn't be this slow at all..... Processor :

My sad story is as follows: I have win10 installed on a ssd and all programs installed on separate sata hd. I swapped this hd for a larger, 1TG, having moved the programs to it through AppMover. All were moved and work well, minus the AUTOCAD 2014. I use Student Version 2014. The program message is: already installed. Is the drive in good condition?
The reason for the questions  is taht Windows has ways of ENLARGEMENT your defective storage without the need to install files over again.

EDIT: Windows 10 has stuff lets  you increase drive space without a ordinary moving of programs. It virtually lets you  increase the size of a volume  by symbolically grafting a second drive.
 Some programs do not PERMIT moving. The symbolic trick makes a small drive look big. Here is one of the best links I found on this:

However, it seems to me that the bad guy in this story is AutoCad . i've found dozens of topics of people having serious troubles with reinstallation. With the weekend coming I'm thinking seriously in a formated-and-clean installation of everything Clean build is definitely the way to go. If it was an older OS, I know that Karensware Registry Pruner works well to locate and prune out orphan registry entries. Many years ago I bought a HP Computer and it didnt come with a CD-RW drive. I added a DVD/CD-RW drive and when installing the Roxio software that came with the Phillips drive it kept telling me that I already have Roxio installed. Looked in add/remove programs and its not there. Used her free tool and found orphan registry entries for Roxio.

*The cause was HP being lazy and sending out a system image for a lower cost minitower that was the same image of a more costly tower that came with a CD Burner. Instead of making a clean image for this lower cost HP that I bought from Walmart as a cheapie Celeron 700Mhz, HP took a shortcut and either removed Roxio in a manner that was an incomplete uninstall with a bad uninstaller or removed it and forgot to grab a few registry keys that remained that stated that it was still installed.

With this tool I quickly found the Roxio entries that were orphan from HP and removed them. Rebooted the system and then I was able to install Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 and it worked perfect after that.

Only problem is that this pruner was made about 15 years ago and I have doubts that it would work correctly with Windows 10. And sadly Karen the PROGRAMMER passed away after a long fight with diabetes so unable to check with her to see if her program would work with Win 10.

Hopefully a clean install of 10 will fix this for you.

i recently reinstalled windows 10 and when I went to open my videos file on my external WD mybook and it would not open I guess I got connect to my previous network I had via Linksys before I reinstalled from scratch so anyone who can help my id appreciate it ill POST pics below to show the issues

The message would indicate  the folder belongs to another user.

Thanks What kind of help are you looking for?  Templates for the various documents or what?  Sounds LIKE you need a word processor like MS Word or the free Libre Office that comes with a word processor very compatible with MS Word.I have the information needed to write this paper but do not know how to put it in it's proper place. I noticed when opening an email in the spam folder of yahoo then clicking on a link it does not RESPOND and after you MOVE the same email to the inbox then the link will work why do you suppose this is?I am not SURE about this but here is what I think.  Do those messages automatically go to the Spam folder?  If so, then links in those messages are probably blocked from WORKING, for your protection.   In other words, messages that automatically go to that folder are deemed higher risk of containing viruses and malware and the links are disabled for your protection.  When you move messages out of the Spam folder, the links are enabled and you are ACCEPTING any risk associated with them.

Before my PC crashed I saved all my great classic music files,but after I re-installed the Vista Home Basic Cd I renamed the 4 of the 12 main MISC folders from contacts to videos. I changed or renamed these 4 music folders,so I could notice them better than in the past & now I cant get any of these new named folders to be loaded to my M.soft media player 11 Library music storage folders.I had options to try auto or manual loading which showed bar load activity, but after 4-5 hr.loading I find none of the music has been loaded or found anywhere ELSE. I DECIDED to delete the media player & download a new MP11 install version. Two more problems occur as I cant find a MS.MP11 version for Vista that is offered & I cant delete or unistall this Mp11 anyhow for some reason too. If I could go back & try it again I would not of CHANGE that much or none at all  Can you not play those music files or any other player LIKE GOM or VLC?

My Vista home basic PC crashed 3+ months ago & been trying to slowly build back some more important programs such as security antivirus,malware & remastering classic songs using the new media player 11 to store an play all my music since 2005. Using Firefox browser as default to save the new downloads to my "download file folder" & not to ask me where to put the save D'L.file. My modem flashes to shows DL' ACTIVITY, but Firefox does not show that any of the D'L file is being downloaded or has been D'L after either. Since most all of my personal files are empty I thought I'd check them all to maybe find any of these latest saved D'L files made tonight.Since I only have MS' firewall /defender as online protection till I can load the better & safer sercuity software might have been a chance of infection for that delay ?  Who is to blame or something that is suppose to be done correctly earlier  You can find the Firefox Download settings by going Tools->OPTIONS, and under "General" there is a "Downloads" Option which allows you to choose a Downloads folder or display a prompt for every downloaded file. This defaults to the Downloads folder in your user profile.

You can see downloads under Tools->Downloads. You can right-click on the items and if it hasn't been deleted you can use the "Open Containing Folder" option.Yes, I first had Firefox as set to send downloads to my download folder which did not work. So,I change it ask me where to send my downloads which did nothing as well ?What if  for some reason the file is not where is ought to be? That can happen if you chose some location and then forgot where.
Some options:
 Just download it gain and this time pay attention.
 Or, if you remember the name, do a search for a file with that name.
 Or, if it was it was done less than 24  hours ago, look for many file created with   today's date. Or yesterday's date.

That is what I have to do.   
Clik the Down arrow on the upper right taskpar in FireFox...On my Vista PC If I download most everything to the download folder, except music, pictures,documents other media files too. example: I when I tried to free TRIAL download from Advast anti-virus 3 easy step PROGRAM as a saved file my PC showed as being downloaded by modem flash, but there was no D'L 'history from the Firefox arrow when selected either.  Tried 3 other different free trial download's & all 3 did the same as the 1st trial D'L download  of finding the D'L location.  Would my PC's taskmgr. Services have a problem with one of its M.S. installer's start dependnecy's on being  off causing a none D'L problem ? Maybe, When I used the new Vista re-install disk which might been a copy version instead & not a VALID MS Vista version causing different kinds of issues I'm dealing with here & there ?  I don't see or know why any other reason's why this happens when trying to download online programs  You need to open whatever browser you ues...go to settings...and see what the DLoad folder is set to...
Perhaps you gave it a top secret name and forgot.
